Came here with the boyfriend for dinner and were seated promptly. Attire seemed to be casual but you could choose to dress up if you wanted. Server was friendly & attentive. The real stand out for me was the duck entree that my boyfriend ordered. I got a fish that I frankly can't even remember (which definitely says something about the plate!). But that duck. When I sat down with my gf, the server gave us a jar of pickled carrots, pickled cauliflowers and pickles. That threw me off a bit, but I liked it. I ordered the F & F burger. It was okay. As a burger connoisseur, the bun has a great sweetness in it, but it was a bit too soft. The cheese is perfectly melted and the patty was nicely cook. However, I wish the patty was warmer. And the side salad could have been a pass. The iced tea didn't come with syrup in order to enhance sweetness. My favorite is the garlic & herb fries, which comes with an very nice garlic sauce. Unfortunately we were less than impressed. The food was alright but we waited forever for it after the order was placed. Our server was terrible. No lie it took over an hour just to get our food which included a salad appetizer two entrees and two kids meals..All the food came out at the same time. I think the server royally screwed up. Tried Finch and Fork for the first time and had a great experience. We had a salmon tartar special appetizer to start, my husband had the short ribs for the main, and I had the scallops. We ended the meal with a sticky toffee cake. All the food was really delicious and well cooked. The service was impeccable too. Our waiter was really attentive, friendly and helpful. Really the service couldn't have been better. The only thing I thought wasn't great about the restaurant was that it was quite loud inside. However, all in all it was a great experience. Great menu here, with very good service and a good drink menu. Eating at a hotel when you live here might not seem intuitive, but the chef's specials, dinner menu and the use of local ingredients makes it worth while and in the many meals I have eaten here, they haven't missed a beat. My husband and I made a last minute to our favorite getaway in Santa Barbra, a rustic one we rarely leave while there. We heard about Finch & Fork and decided to actually dress up and venture out on a much anticipated date night. The food was Amazing,the Scallops were incredible, just perfect, and the sweet potato purée appetizer was A PLUS. Our server, Eric was on point. Every course, his timely concern for our well being was perfect and his connection with us (I'm in a wheelchair with a service dog) was personal and just delightful. But one thing struck a tone above all. A young lady named Avery. What a bright light in the midst of what seemed a crazy busy night at the restaurant. Her smile absolutely lit up the place and was the perfect punctuation to a much appreciate night out on the town. We will not only be back for the Finch, but the hotel as well. THE BEST!!! There's a reason for all of the excellent reviews! Started off with complimentary pickled vegetables, was unsure about them at first, but turned out to be quite tasty. Oysters were good. Although the old fashioned with duck fat washed tincup bourbon sounds strange, it was great, just order it and don't think twice. The main event was the SHORT RIB. Great portion, super tender, flat out ridiculous flavor. I would eat this for every meal if I could, it's THAT good. Actually debated ordering a second one. As if that wasn't enough, also ordered the Fire Roasted Milk Shake, picture a milkshake combined with a banana cream pie and topped with a perfectly roasted marshmallow. I went there with my family for breakfast. Great service and presentation of their food. Their bloody mary bar was good too. The breakfast burrito was extremely bland though. The only saving grace was the verde sauce, which was a skimpy portion. I had to ask for a side of it and add salt and pepper to put it down. Very overpriced for what I got. . My husband and I have stayed at the Kimpton Canary several times and this time spent three nights. We ate both breakfast and dinner in Finch &Fork all three days. Not because there aren't options. The Chef is creative and has an excellent talent for putting favors together. One evening we brought our extended family for dinner. Every dish was prepared to perfection. The deviled eggs were fantastic as was every "special" we experienced. Friday night they serve a seafood pot pie that has no equal. The lamb bolognese lasagna rocked! Then there is the staff....all were attentive and very friendly. The bar serves the same menu as well as fantastic drinks with the same great service. My husband and I have eaten there a couple times when we have traveled to the area. We loved the salmon bagel with fried capers, tomato jam and cream cheese. I can't speak for the restaurant, but the bar... WOW!! A cocktail menu with a fusion of house originals as well as the classics executed to perfection. Andy, the head mixologist/bartender, crafts every cocktail to his individual audience. If you can name it, he can make it... And better than you've had it elsewhere! He made me a Blue Blazer earlier tonight (who does that??) and it rocked my world. Don't get me started on the food either! They work magic in the kitchen. I've already reviewed Finch & Fork, but I thought I'd do it again since I had such a great experience on Saturday night. I come here usually about once every two weeks, and it never disappoints. However, the service we received from Andy while eating at the bar on Saturday was above and beyond. He was attentive without being smothering, and paid attention to the details. Downtown SB's water has been terrible lately, and Andy was serving Voss instead of the terrible tap. This conscientious (and unexpected) move was so appreciated. I don't drink anymore, but my friend (who's a mixologist himself) said that the cocktail Andy made him was amazing. Being that I come here every couple weeks for the kale salad, I've had it almost every way imaginable (or so I thought), but Andy recommended a unique variation that I'm eager to try. Andy is not only a great mixologist but also provides the best service I've seen in SB. I'd choose to sit at the bar over a table any day he's working. read more

Another absolutely wonderful meal with friends at the finch and fork. Great appetizers- the brioche and schmeer with hot smoked salmon and spread was great, as were the perfect Kushi oysters. The raucous pink deviled eggs with smoked trout were outstanding. Main coarse? It's Tuesday, so we had to have the fried chicken- and what fried chicken it was. Super quality Jidori chicken, fried in a tasty crust. A full half chicken of golden goodness. Crunchy outside, juicy inside, delicious. With perfect mashed potatoes (with gravy) and homemade sweet pickles. And then dessert- you sometimes have desserts that are creative, and sometimes have dessert that are good. Chef James Siao's desserts are both. We were pretty full, so each couple split one dessert: the s'more pot de creme, which sounded ipretty good. It was better than that. Three simple elements, each taken to a new level: torched homemade marshmallow, rich silky chocolate pot de creme, and an ethereal crunchy topping that started life as graham crackers but evolved into a higher plane. Our friends shared the Fire roasted milk shake made with banana ice cream and, among other things, salted caramel. They too were very very happy. A perfect dinner! Location is great. Restaurant is lively, and staff is attentive. Everything was served in proper order at just the right temperature. We had 4 different appetizers: Artisan Cheese Board, Warm Baby Carrot Salad, Caramelized Cauliflower, and Flatbread. The main course that was the biggest hit was Scallops! However, the Short ribs and the Trout dinners are also winners. Can't say which was more impressive ~ the food or the staff. Water glass always full, food served at the right time and the perfect temperature, plates cleared at the proper time. Someone checked on us after each serving was placed on the table. The manager, Marc, was very visible throughout the whole restaurant, checking on tables and making sure things went well for everyone, including us.
