Another great food. experience at the Finial. We came here for both dinner and breakfast and both were great. I really liked the Whipped Goat Cheese. The duck fat adde the perfect touch of savoriness. The bacon jam was a little sweeter than I would have preferred but it did compliment the goat cheese well. The shrimp and pork belly pasta was amazing. They could've put anything in that cream sauce and I'm sure it'd be delicious. The pork belly was surprisingly crispy and the shrimp was surprisingly giant. Both were seasoned very well. Only negative thing I can say about the experience is that we came here for our anniversary and it's strange that they didn't really do anything to celebrate it outside of just saying happy anniversary. Breakfast at the Finial. Staff is quick to service, seating is immediate and food came out fair amount of time. Not busy in the mornings. Makes a quiet and tranquil outing more relaxing. I ordered the avocado toast with the salmon and a side of homefries;it was good but am not quite a fan of smoked salmon. My friend had an offer for BOGO lunch through 8/29, so we took advantage of it. I had the salmon which included green beans and rice and she had steak and fries minus the truffle. We also ordered a wedge salad no bacon which was large enough for us to split. Next time I'd like to try the (fried) grouper sandwich and the cornbread appetizer. Hey family! It's been a little while. I've dined here for brunch about a handful of times now. It might be more than that at this point. What can I say? The food was really good as well as the service. I appreciate a no fuss brunch and when I want to feel a little more laid back, I come here. They do have a buffet if you want some of everything and it's about $28. I'm sure they've went up from what they used to charge. I would only recommend getting it if you're really hungry. They are super accommodating and I love they have an assortment of teas. It's cozy and during the times I've went, it's not super crowded. If you're not sure, it can't hurt to make a reservation. I will definitely come back for lunch and dinner when I get the chance. read more

The breakfast buffet on Sunday was quite good. It's very much like a decent hotel buffet - picture the type normal Marriott's used to have before they started taking it away. The food was good and the buffet was well stocked. They had Gluten Free options including a muffin. The kids loved the biscuits and waffles that were available! It's a beautiful remodel of the whole building as well. I haven't been here in a very long time prior to this visit, so I don't remember the old look in great detail, but the new look is nice. read more

Amazing evening. Stopped in with my girlfriend for drinks and dinner. Definitely impressed! The Grandover itself is impressive but this restaurant is at the heart of it all. Lighting, sunset, high ceilings and attentive staff. This was a true dining experience. We started off with some drinks from the 1808 bar. A perfect old fashioned for me and she had a cape fear, light blueberry crafted cocktail. We skipped the appetizers and salads to go straight for dinner. Chef Kelvin was walking the floor and recommenced the duck and dumplings. She had the Salmon risotto. The dumplings with my duck were phenomenal. All made from scratch. My duck was perfect medium (I miss well prepared duck) Her Salmon was juicy with that sought after crust from high heat. Finished with a light chive oil. Risotto was creamy and delicious. Skipped dessert but we will definitely be back with friends and to the full Monty. read more

I've been wanting to come and try Finial, mostly for dinner but I came for breakfast and it was good! I got a cheddar and mushroom omelette with turkey bacon and a biscuit. The omelette was really well made, not a huge fan of the turkey bacon and the biscuit was pretty good (may have been overcooked a little because the sides were too hard to bite). The restaurant is absolutely stunning and the mural on the ceiling is beautiful. They also have great service. I'd like to come back for dinner because that seems like where they shine the most. read more

Needed something to kick a sweet craving and this was just the trick. The chocolate bread pudding tastes so rich and gooey with the caramel add on the ice cream and crumb topping and it was next level. Paired well with a nice red wine and music by Justin Reid at the bar. read more

This is a rebrand of Divalletta located in the Grandover Resort. The brunch is wonderful. The service was slow so if you are in a hurry this is not the place to go. We had the Ham, Egg and Cheese Panini and fruit and the French Toast. We shared the Beignets (they were out of the Krispy Kreme Bread pudding) The coffee was smooth and the ambiance is really nice. After Brunch we sat by the fireplace and talked and then viewed the Art exhibit in the lobby. I love Grandover, I hope you do too. read more

Everything was wonderful. The service was friendly and very efficient. The ambiance was very comfortable. Now for the food. We were there for lunch. I was staying at the Grandover and decided to stop in for breakfast. This place was delicious, I would recommend it to anyone whether they are a guest at the resort or not! There are a boatload of options and the restaurant is connected to their coffee bar so I was able to order a delicious latte! The staff was very slow so I would not recommend this place if you are in a rush. read more

I came here for my birthday dinner with friends and i have to say it was very good so much that we are still talking about how good this corn bread was. I ordered the corn bread and prawns as a starter and i was not expecting to enjoy the prawns as much as i did they where very flavorful! I also ordered the Prime Rib special and it surely did not disappoint me i will say my friend ordered the salmon and it was a bit fishy in my opinion but over all we enjoyed everything so much that I came back for dinner the next day and ordered the corn bread again lol. i also had the cucumber gazpacho which was amazing as well as the furniture market salad. Over all the service was great our server on both days was very attentive and helpful. We checked out and were going to have breakfast before we left. We were walked to the seating area and then walked back to the entrance and sat at a small table for 2. We waited for a long time, finally the hostess took our drink orders and said our waiter would be with us. She brought me coffee in a to go cup. I asked if they had any mugs like the other diners were drinking out of. She said yes, but she was in a hurry. We decided to get up and leave. This entire experience took 40 minutes and I can't believe the horrible service for such expensive dining. Never again. read more

The food here is amazing. We were happy with the selection of beer and wine. We had dinner with friends for someone's surprise birthday party. My aunt had previously visited this resturant with friends and raved about how delicious the food was. I decided to see for myself. From the beautiful grounds driving up to the guest greater to the servers and the delicious food I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The restaurant as well as the hotel was nicely decorated for the holiday and really got me in the Christmas mood. I choose to stay at the Grandover when we're here visiting family and it used to be a great place...it's now in desperate need for repair and general maintenance but that's for another post. The Finial which used to be named the DiValleta Restaurant is still a beautifully appointed restaurant with views of the golf course but not much else. Service = Snails pace. We were seated right away but it took 15 minutes before the waiter came to take our order. No, they weren't busy. I ordered coffee, nothing. After waiting another 15 min, I asked the hostess if I could get a cup of coffee, she went to the server to another server to tell them to get it but I guess they got lost along the way. After about 45 min, the food arrived, still no coffee. Food = No buffet anymore which is fine by me. I prefer to have my meal cooked fresh BUT that's not what you get here. We ordered the yogurt parfait, kids silver dollar pancakes, the Finial breakfast which consists of eggs, bacon or sausage, home fries or grits and toast. Eggs were cooked fresh and my daughter enjoyed the yogurt. Everything else was pre-cooked at some point that morning and put on the plate once the eggs were cooked. First class! We had dinner there last night for the first time. Our server, Amy, was extraordinarily experienced in cocktails and deft in all aspects. It's rare to find wait staff at her level. The chef came out to speak to us because although I ordered the Bronzino fish, he didn't really like the way the fish (as yet uncooked) looked. Instead I ordered the duck and he had suggested that I have it cooked a certain way to promote the crispiness of the skin. The two appetizers we ordered were excellent, the citrus prawns and the lobster bisque (which was as good as I have ever had)! My husband's shrimp and grits were excellent. The chocolate cheesecake cake was delicicous and nobody blinked when I asked for extra whipped cream. My main course and dessert were too big for me to finish so I have another meal at home. As soon as we left, we began to plan our return visit. We eat out a lot in the Greensboro area and found this dining room, this staff, and this chef to rank as good or better of any of the fine restaurants in the Greensboro area. read more

The Finial restaurant is nestled in the beautiful Grandover Hotel and Resort. The Grandover is "home away from home" and a place to escape. The surroundings of the hotel and its golf courses viewed through the glass windows from floor to ceiling from the restaurant are magnificent and one of the best in the Triad, located just south of Greensboro, NC. The Grandover Resort is very easy to get to with good connecting roads and highways from all directions. The interior of the restaurant is relaxing, elegant and warm with paintings of all sorts. The ambience is quite pleasing; the chairs are very comfortable, and the tables are well placed to conduct business or to take family and friends. The kitchen can be seen in the background through its large opening that lets tasty smells escape. The Finial is one of the places that I go to and not have to worry about if the place is clean or if the ingredients are fresh and healthy. Seasonality is very important for their southern delicious salads, greens etc. as they strive to use locally grown ingredients when available. On a recent visit to Finial, I ordered the Ahi tuna, sushi style for lunch (I'm a pescatarian). It was a generous portion, very fresh and tasty. For an appetizer I ordered the cornbread, and it was quite savory and moist, also the presentation was unlike anything I've seen before. Also, there is a good representation of fine wines from around the world that are available as well. The service was very courteous and prompt as well. Parking is convenient and plentiful, also, they offer valet parking assistance. I highly recommend Finial for any occasion, business or pleasure. Jim read more
