Went to celebrate a birthday with family last night. We were ok with the hour wait for a party of 6. While waiting the birthday girl and myself went to the bar. The bartender was horrible! Rude beyond belief! No greeting, no smile, nothing. He literally looked like he would rather be dead than anything else. We tried to make conversation with him, he did not want to speak. We bought 2 shots $24. All we asked for was 2 lemons in addition to. He said "I have to go all the way to the kitchen for those." Then he stared blankly at us for several moments with the idea that we would say ok nevermind. No sir. Maybe if he had shown the slightest bit of hospitality we would have said ok, but why doesn't the bar have lemons stocked??? After that interaction, we left. I've been to quite a few hibachi restaurants and this was definitely on the bottom of the list. If you desire a large amount of food that is low quality and the cooking is rushed, you have found your place! The service was good. I would not even bother... In this business consistency is key and there is none here. This place is less predictable than a lottery ticket. One day really great and the next no Sushi, hell no bar tender even. 1.25 hour wait because they only had 2 chefs available and I think we actually got the guy who cuts up the veggies dressed up and sent out. There are just too many other options that are on par all of the time to even take the chance of wasting your money here. Sorry but the management is apparently just not concerned with making this a consistent experience. I am by nature self abusive, I even married the same woman twice! Food was good. Service was a mess. Not enough people. Hibachi chef angry messed up orders , had to ask to get dishes removed by other staff, had to ask 3 times for a fork. Had to wait over 10 minutes for a drink. Everyone working hard but stressed out. Hire more people and train them and you MAY have a winner combination. read more

Made a reservation & visited a few weeks back with a friend & two children plus ordered two 2 go orders. The food was good(nothing special), portions large & lively chef. However after we finished we were talking for a few mins letting kids finish eating & boxing up our leftovers then just as we were about to leave the hostess comes over & says my manager wants me to ask you guys to leave or go to the bar! We weren't even in there 30 mins after eating & honestly I don't care how long we sat there after spending over $150 because they are not cheap to be asked to leave because they "needed" the table was extremely rude & unprofessional. Clearly we had our 2 go boxes & were leaving already. Then we I tell the guy that it was very rude he snarkly goes "oh ok" & just walks away! Will never return here read more

I've was pressured pretty hard to go to Fire & Sticks so I caved. I wasn't in the food for hibachi so I just ordered some sushi for my meal and thought I would snipe a bit of chicken from my friend's plate if I got curious. Our server was okay. She was nice enough but instead of going to the person to delivery their beverage or salad, she reached over the grill and other people's space. Yes, it would have taken a bit more effort to walk around to each person but it's much better than reaching over people. Our cook didn't really interact with us very much. As a matter of fact, other than saying hello, he didn't really speak at all. There weren't any cook tricks or entertaining moments...just cooking. I ordered two sushi rolls and I must say that neither of them were memorable. One had scallops on top and it was the best of the two but lacked in much of a concept. They try to make every table full before cooking. So even though we had a reservation we had to wait while 4 other people filled the seats at our table. We did get to enjoy our soup and salad but it did make the dinner process longer than we had planned for. The portions are very large so you can get 2-3 meals out of it. First. I love Japanese food. We came here and sat at the hibachi grill. I got so much fried rice. Steak and shrimp. We were stuffed. My husband loved his food and murdered his leftovers and mine. My wife and I waited an hour with an reservation. We were seated on time and served with salads/soup and drinks. The server was requested by someone else that the table we were seated with. After talking to each other, the server changed the chef assignment to the chef we didn't prefer. After waiting, the server told his friend that the chef was in the back horse playing and yelling about shrimp. The chef's name is Tony and every time he cooks for us, we get sick. Normally, we don't get this treatment here. If you go, ask for any other chef than Tony. He is a show boat instead of a great cook. read more

Great service and food. I had the Filet Mignon with shrimp. Very tender filet! Would definitely get it again. The other dish pictured is Hibachi Salmon with extra veggies, no rice. Very good as well. However I agree with other complaints about the salad being too watery. Wish the lettuce wasn't iceberg as well. The house soup is perfect. read more

We have not been to this restaurant in a long time simply because of the length of time for your food to come and the nonchalant attitude of the bartender when the food does come. Tonight I got off work and wanted Japanese and again we were disappointed. The bartender took our order over the phone and quoted us 25 min. We got there at 30 min. At 45 min we asked for a manager only to be told by the lady up front that the bartender was the manager. Now we understand why the same problem still exists. Business follows the flow of its leadership. This explains it all. Next time we'll just drive down Wendover and get a better offering. read more

While I was in town for a business trip I came here for dinner with a few of my co-workers one night. While the food itself was good, the reviews by others about this place seem to be pretty consistent. We sat at a hibachi table but our group all ordered sushi dishes. Our server was very friendly but it did take a while to get our drinks and food, and at times it was hard to find her again to ask for something. The miso soup (complimentary), house salad w/ ginger dressing and veggie rolls I order were all pretty good but definitely not the best I've ever had, especially for the price. In an area filled with so many chain restaurants it was nice to find a place like this for a change of pace. And while the food was good, the slow service and higher prices definitely take away from the overall dining experience. read more

The pros...good service. Good food. I ordered scallops and for the money it was a steal. The scallops were huge and I had at least 20 of them. The cons..why do they feel the need to squish 15 people at one table when there are other tables open? And for the first time, it seemed like there was not as much food served. Worst experience/ service I have ever had ever. It's too bad because we have been before and the food was good, but management came over when we asked a question and was rude and insulting from the start. If you get Jason or whoever as a manager, even if you just see him, leave immediately. When we placed our concern all he had to complain about was how long he would have to be there if he helped us, after we were there for 2 plus hours without the chef appearing anytime soon. Just terrible to see such unprofessional behavior, especially to be talked about badly in front of your face and ignoring you on purpose. Shame. read more

Am I the only one that thinks Fire and Sticks is a mess? We were seated last night a little after 8:00. The restaurant was less than 1/3 full. FYI--If I were the owner of a Hibachi Japanese restaurant and every table was not booked solid on a weekend, I would be figuring out why not. By 9:15 we still had not seen our chef. I inquired with a completely unprofessionally dressed hostess about the wait stating that our reservations were at 8:00 and an hour wait to see a chef is inexcusable. She apologized trying to explain that the wait was due to large parties in the back room. (my thought on this is if you have reservations for large parties, schedule more staff). She then said "when you get your check, come back and see me. The manager said she will do something for you.". At 10:15 when we received our check, I looked for the same hostess. She had already left. I explained the situation to our server who took our bill to the manager. So, the manager's "doing something for me" was a big whopping 15% off of the check, a discount of $13. Quite frankly, the discount toggled between a joke and an insult. I explained to my adult children that we will not be going back to Fire and Sticks. Fire and Sticks can keep their $13 if they will give all 4 of us our hour back. The issues at this location are completely due to poor management. No issues with chef or server. read more

Awful experience. Made reservations for 8PM 12/9/22 for 5 adults including my accountant and his wife. Arrived 15 minutes early with reception area full of patrons waiting to be seated, so not late. Seated at the same time as the table next to us and waited....At 9:20 PM our chef arrived at our table as the table next to us (that was seated at the same time as us) was FINISHING their meal. Our waitress said the restaurant was out of rice - the reason for the delay. The chef was a good natured person (not Asian FWIW) who spoke and joked mostly in American street slang. This detracted from any "Japanese Steakhouse" ambiance. He was apparently new or training and proceeded to prepare the meal for each of the 9 people at the table completely sequentially, not at least somewhat simultaneously as is usually the case. This resulted in my food being served over 1/2 hour earlier than my guests food - an awkward situation and of course my meal was cold from waiting. By this time, we were the only patrons left dining while the other restaurant staff milled about watching us and waiting for us to finish so they could leave (more awkwardness). After he finished cooking, the chef practiced some knife tricks he was trying to learn. No more than 10-15 minutes after our food had been served, the waitress, without anyone asking, brought "to go" boxes out for the entire table - again this was awkward, a clear sign they wanted us to hurry and leave. To be fair, on the plus side, the portions were generous. Not recommended. customer service so awful that the food did not matter. read more

We had reservations for 10 on Saturday evening 6:30 for my son's birthday party. We were told will only hold table 10minutes. All party must be here to be seated. We all were there by 6:20. Didn't get seated till 7:00. The service was terrible, had to ask for tea all the time, had to ask after waiting 42 minutes for two mixed drinks, we had our food on our plates and had to ask where a 5 year olds chicken tender plate was, and upon getting done leaned that my aunt sitting at the end of the table never received her food she order special from the kitchen. But yet we were charged the tip on each of our bills. The worst night we ever had. Terrible service. read more

We had a large party and had reservations at 6:30 pm. We were seated around 6:30. However, the cook did not get to our table until 7:46pm. When I ask him why he was so late and that we had been sitting there so long he said "he was slow". He then began calling me "angry grandmother ". I have never waited that long for a cook to arrive. Food was so so, I was drinking water and never got a refill until 8:45. When the waiter brought our bills and we gave him our cards, it took him around 18 minutes to bring everyone's cards back except mine. When I ask him he went back and came back with mine finally. I really hope I don't have any fraud on my card as it was out of my hands quite a while. I will never go back! Wait staff and cook were just so so. Not worth the money. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting Fire & Sticks this past weekend and was very pleased with the overall atmosphere and experience. The entry-way and bar area are very comfy and the bartender was knowledgeable and provided me with a lovely signature mixed drink while my party waited. The actual restaurant area was a little sterile and while most people want family friendly, I was not a fan of the family-ish scene and wished that it had a more intimate and adult atmosphere. The food was very tasty, although the filet could have been 'mooing' a bit more for me (the scallops are to die for), but overall it was a nice time out and I would go back again! read more

I told her there's no need to if you have the answer to my quesrion. She responded that it's a very long answer. I remained patient and said it's just a yes or no question. This rating is based on experience. This restaurant is equivalent of a hotel restaurant. A low end hotel. On a Monday night the restaurant we were corralled in the bar until 20 of our party of 25 arrived. Our Host/Bartender demanded this as once they start the Hibachi they would not be able to accommodate additional guests. The restaurant is empty yet it's taking an hour AFTER we were seated before our order is taken. I was in a large party of 25 but 1 server took out drink order, the same server took the food order, the same server delivered the salads. One server cleaning up offered everyone some soup that wasn't eaten! Hibachi started and the chef was entertaining bites out of veggies, rice, and over served some, undeserved others. Half of our group finished and left before the others got server their dinner... We are now almost 2 hours in and still not one piece of steak, shrimp or chicken. The steaks, chicken, shrimps are done after and... the rice and veggies are cold. Over 2 hours later, water glasses are empty and I just want to go home. The chef was very entertaining. He fixed his mistakes. Overall, the only star goes to the chef! He was the only one trying and the food tasted good as it came off the grill. Overall, I won't come back, won't recommend. read more

Love this place. The environment of this restaurant is superb. The food is equally amazing! I seem to always get the ribeye and shrimp. Can't go wrong there. The complimentary soup is the bomb! The salad not so much, not very fresh and they put a ton of dressing on it. Unfortunately the service never seems to be that great. The chefs are excellent; always putting on a show and making customers laugh. The waitresses however.. seem to ALWAYS have an attitude and seem to disappear a lot. Myself and a friend attempted to go to eat here. As we walked in, there was no one at the front podium. A minute or so later, a man walked up and wrote something down. When he looked up, he just starred at us. Never once did he greet us. When I stated that we had two, he simply said "45 mins." The parking lot was mostly empty and I got the impression that he just didn't want to help us. We were so put off by his attitude that we left and went someone else. This is a great restaurant for those who like Japanese food. The food is good. They have both hibachi style (cook at your table) food and a sushi bar. I have taken groups there and it has also received good reviews from the groups. They were very accommodating to one group where one of our party had a shellfish allergy and they cooked his food on a separate stove for him. The service is generally OK. The chefs are not as talkative or entertaining as at some other hibachi style restaurants I have been to. I have seen them when groups had kids and they were very entertaining to the kids. read more

So weird that we walked into a half empty restaurant and were told it would be 1 hour before we (2 adults one child) could be seated because a large party was coming in! This use to be one of my favorite Japanese Hibachi restaurants, but service has declined a great deal. This is an example of the lack of customer service I've experienced there the past few years. The folks in the bar area are a little nicer but very inattentive. Poor staff training for the front of the house will cancel out even great food. Well the food here is fair to middling at best so it's a wrap for me. read more

This place is more hyped up than it should be. Standard hibachi place. I've been to much better places. The floors were all sticky and the hostess was pretty rude when we arrived. They had just opened for dinner and the place was almost completely empty. There were 3 in our group and we were waiting on 1 more person before we ordered. The hostess told us she couldn't seat us until our whole party was there. We told her we didn't need a hibachi seat and a normal table would do. She said she couldn't do that either (um, why? Literally every table is empty). So we sat at the bar. The bar staff seemed nice but didn't bring us a drink menu until we asked for it. He brought the hibachi menu but not the sushi one. (Meanwhile the hostess sat on her phone chatting up some other staff member because the place was totally dead.) Once our friend arrived we asked if we could be seated now and the hostess begrudgingly sat us at a hibachi table, but not before the bar staff had to cash us out because for some reason he couldn't transfer our tabs to our table??? Again, they didn't all the menus, and brought us all soup without asking if we even wanted any. The sushi was alright, but nothing extraordinary. The Hibachi was ok but wayyy over soy-sauced. My friend order boneless barbecue wings and they literally brought her chicken nuggets with ketchup. She told them it wasn't the right order, and the staff had to ask the kitchen about the wings. Turns out they don't have them, and she had to ask for BBQ sauce on the side. She said they were chewy and gross. Wine was over priced and food wasn't good. Would not go here again. read more
