The food LOOKS really good and they give you a huge portion, but it truly lacks that HIBACHI flavor. Also, I don't mind paying for good food, but this cost entirely too much for it to be so bland. I'm sure I could of cooked this same meal at home in a regular pan and it would of had more flavor. Lol! This is the best hibachi restaurant in the triad area. It's always super clean and never dark and smokey. It's spaced in a more open fashion and I've never felt claustrophobic squeezing through giant groups of people like I have in other restaurants. Pre Covid, this used to be the place we went for celebrations as a family. We miss the sushi, and it used to be a big part of going, but my daughter was turning 18 and she really wanted to go. Our family had the whole table, and the evening started off fine, talking, ordering drinks and having our soup. Our waitress was great and the chef was amazing. What left a bad taste in our mouth was the alcohol drinks. Again, we've frequented this place many many times before. My Mom ordered her dirty martini, her favorite drink, she orders it everywhere and makes them herself. She said it tasted like it was just ice and olive juice. So much so that she mentioned it to the waitress. My son ordered a drink that had a number of different liquers in it and he said he couldn't taste alcohol at all in it. Not saying it was weak, just couldn't taste it at all. Prices for drinks are not a inexpensive expense. With food being 30 to 50 a plate, you can imagine how much alcohol can be. The waitress came back and told my Mom she was sorry and did mention it to the bartender and that he said he did put alcohol in it. My Mom said, okay, it just doesn't taste like it. That was it, done. She decided not to finish it. A man comes to our table, puts both hands on the table, leans forward and stares at my Mom. I'm assuming my parent's know him and I'm waiting for the excited," Ohhh, hey so and so!" Never came. After a good uncomfortable minute my Mom says, you're the bartender? He says yes, and then starts explaining to her what a dirty martini is and how it's made. Seriously? She's been drinking them before this gentleman was born. My Mom told him he didn't have to come here and school her on what a martini was and how it's made. She told him she knew how it was made and all she was saying was you could not taste any alcohol in it, regardless of how he says he made it. The way he came to our table and tried to first, intimidate my Mom, and then proceed to explain how her favorite drink is made was so unprofessional. This was my daughter's birthday celebration and just another work day for him, which he made pretty clear. I read reviews on here which talk about an unpleasant bartender, could it be the same one? Who knows, I would hate to think an place would keep a person if they are getting complaints on how they are treating customers. If I go to a restaurant and spend over 400 on dinner, I really don't expect to have an ego bruised bartender coming to my table when he hears something he doesn't like. Will we be back, no, most likely not. Having to explain to my daughter what was going on was not the highlight I wanted the evening to be. Going out is just not what it used to be. read more

We have always had a good experience here, and we love their ginger sauce. Last night our chef had a great personality and some fresh performance tricks up his sleeve, so that was nice. Our waiter was very personable and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. The tables were spaced out well so social distancing was easy. There was a problem with some of the shrimp we had but the manager took care of it very graciously and apologized. We won't hold it against them and we will go back. But I have some recommendations for this place when it comes to celebrating birthdays: 1.) Our chef didn't put on much of a show. Really wish he did the shrimp tossing. Would've made things a little more fun for the 15 people we had in our party. Made maybe two jokes the whole time as well. Wish he was more engaged with the people at the table. 2.) We brought a cake and they didn't really know what to do with it. After we finished eating they came out and sang happy birthday while a bunch of dirty dishes were in front of everyone. Then they brought the cake out and the candles and plates we brought and just made me do everything. I had to put the candles on the cake, light them with a handheld lighter (wish they had one of the longer ones that are better for lighting candles), and none of the employees stuck around to help, so I had to ask the waitress to help me at least cut the cake. All of this happened while dirty dishes were piled up at the table. In our group photo, all you see is the cake and a bunch of dirty dishes around us. I would recommend that they clear the table, clean the table off, then sing happy birthday while bringing out the cake with the candles already lit. It just seems like they didn't have any experience with birthdays. Why did I, as a guest, have to do everything for that? If the chef put on a bit more of a show and was more entertaining and engaging, and the staff was more helpful during the birthday part, this place would be perfect. But at the moment, it is tough to go there to celebrate a birthday. I really hope they take these recommendations I made based on the way I've seen things done at other hibachi restaurants into consideration. read more

Our first experience with the food here was a takeout order this past week - and the results were very much a mixed bag - the food was good to very good - but the prices were very, very high - especially taking into effect the portions of some item, and comparable pricing of competitors. The Sashimi Sampler Platter was beautifully arranged, and consisted of 9 relatively small pieces of 3 kinds of fish - Salmon, Tune, and Whitefish The Whitefish and the Tuna were excellent, the Salmon much less so The overall quality and quantity was simply not worth almost $18. The Jumbo Shrimp Tempura, which consisted of 4 shrimp and a few assorted veggies, was greasy, and the coating was soggy - not a good dish at any price, but over the top pricey at over $12. The Sumo Combo consisted of Filet, Shrimp, and Scallops, accompanied by the usual suspects of salad, soup, fried rice, and assorted veggies. The filet was requested at medium rare, but was well past that stage. The shrimp were excellent, although there were only 5 of them. The scallops were a little off, and I'm always a little suspicious of perfectly round scallops. read more

We went for lunch. I had a $20 coupon. I ordered Hibatchi chicken and sirloin. The food tasted fine like most Hibatchi restaurants, but about a third of my sirloin was just large, wobbly pieces of fat that should never have made it to the table. Instead of soup and salad like most Hibatchi restaurants include, we had to choose between the two. I ate with my wife and daughter, and a 20% gratuity was automatically added. Each entree we chose was $20.50, and we drank tap water which tasted heavily of chlorine. For three substandard entrees, we paid almost $60 after a $20 coupon and a forced 20% gratuity. Just recently celebrated my husband's birthday at Fire and Sticks. We had a good visit, our server was beyond friendly! The food was pretty good, typically hibachi. I was extremely disappointed to see that the sushi bar is closed and that sushi isn't available at all. I don't prefer to see the large hibachi meal typically and when our family goes I like to be able to order sushi which is smaller and less heavy. We took our family to Fire & Sticks on 8/15/23 during a visit to High Point. We left full and with some carryout cartons with leftovers but still left underwhelmed. My son summed it up well, "it was just OK". The parking lot seemed full but once inside it was less than 1/2 full. The first disappointment was while their street sign included Sushi, we were informed the sushi bar was closed. The main turnoff was our chef. This is a hibachi so you're seated watching the chef prepare your meal. We've been to these before and the chef is often a performer and jokes around with the customer. This guy was really bad. He might have been having a really bad day or something but his attitude was clearly he DIDN'T want to be at work. He went through the motions only with no eye contact and acting fully disinterested. We were initially served some very weak watery soup, a small salad which was just OK. and two small grilled shrimp as an appetizer. Next came a huge pile of fried rice that filled 50% of our plates. He then prepped the protein - chicken, steak, shrimp and scallops but did so at separate times. So our family ate in 3 shifts. Of course, if you didn't start the fried rice, it became cold. The quantity of food was quite large but it wasn't anything special. But at least it was pretty expensive. The food and experience were not worth the $200 we spent and no one had a drink. The servers and hostess were very nice and welcoming. I ended up leaving my credit card in the bill holder. They called me within 30 minutes to tell me. When I picked it up, they checked my driver license, which I appreciated. I hope this was just a bad night but we won't be going back. read more

Despite getting sick from my food this place is a joke. No manager any where to be found. Server with very long blonde hair was rude and made smart comments under her breath as she walked away. I order 3 appetizers for our party of 9. They did not arrive before our chef did. So I asked to cancel that order. Server was not please with my request. We had reservations on a Wednesday, and when we showed up, we were told that the restaurant had written down the reservation for the wrong time, but that they "might be able to squeeze" us in. We waited for about 20-30 minutes, and in that time they seated no one from the packed lobby. No updates were given. The interior of the restaurant looks like a makeshift Hobby Lobby wedding hall. Super friendly bartender who makes strong, but creative drinks! I actually liked that I could sit in the bar and still get the same food and avoid the cheesy show. And you get a ton of food for the money. The crispy California roll was very good, had spicy mayo on the bottom. I got the filet and shrimp and it was pretty close to medium and tender. Reading previous reviews I was paying attention to the fact that you don't get seated until the full party is here. Truthfully when reading a"the previous review stating that I wanted to see this for myself. This actually happened to us, we were 4 in total, first three arrived early and we couldn't seat until the fourth one had arrived. This didn't please me much to be honest but only after did I find out why. The main attraction being the habachi which is a bit of a show over the grill in itself, it's easy to understand why it's better both for the experience and the staff (including the chef)'s logistic. So I would personally discard this comment. Now for the rest the place's atmosphere is nice, seemed clean but also fairly big for a restaurant. Think of it more as a party with multiple habachi shows than a cosy ambiance. Food was good but not great. The crab salad was made of crab sticks which isn't bad but not what I would call high end. Now for the Sushi it happens that I am a sushi lover and I am highly demanding of my sushis. It turns out that they were fair/good considering that Greensboro probably isn't the Sushi capital in the world. The Sushi sashimis were also good but too thin. Overall this is a good place, the staff we had was nice and wait time were in the norms. I would go back but more for the party/show experience with decent food than for a gourmet restaurant. On a Monday night, it took 20 minutes before anyone took our orders. After the waitress left and we saw her once when she brought half our orders. We had to beg to get her back to get the other half. Her excuse for not bringing the second half, "You must have told the other white girl." Now the chef had the personality of a dead fish and took very little pride in what he was cooking. He served me half cut 12 inch rib eye teaming with fat and bristle with no knife in sight to cut it in bite size pieces and trim the fat that was left uneaten. Sauces tasted like dirty dish water.
