In Austin for a work trip and looking for good Asian food and I ended up at Fire Bowl. I ordered take-out so I can't comment on the dining experience but I was pleased with this place all around. I had the crispy orange chicken with brown rice and my co-worker had general tsos. While we made the traditional choices, the make-your-own seemed very appealing as well. We have ordered Fire Bowl Cafe via Eat In Out twice now and have found it to be decent fare. My boyfriend doesn't like it as much as I do, and prefers PF Chang's. I have to admit, I'm hooked on their Pineapple Fried Rice bowl with chicken. It has sweet and savory with a hint of curry with nice veggies that continues to grow on me. My boyfriend has had the miso soup and two different entrees but finds it a little bland. Of course, I cannot speak to the atmosphere or the service because I have never actually been here...but they make some alright food and everything appears to be fresh and arrives well packaged and hot. We do like the pricing a lot better than PF Chang's - just $7 for a rice bowl - add an egg roll or other side for 1.50, (these are probably inflated delivery prices..but still). It is hard to go wrong with Fire Bowl. I tried a few menu items and they were all tasty but I mostly stuck with pad thai. Occasionally I would actually dine in here but the vast majority of the time we would get take out. Ordering is pretty painless. Just pick your competents off the big boards as you walk in or get one of the other dishes like pad thai. They'll give you a number and bring it out to your table. If you are going to do take out I recommend calling ahead just to avoid sitting around doing nothing but it is usually ready in under 10 minutes for pick up. read more

I didn't get to try the main dishes here, but stuck with the Coconut Soup and Side salad, both of which were surprisingly very good. The Coconut soup wasn't spicy at all, but had great flavor and texture. This was definitely one of, if not the best, coconut soup I've had at a restaurant - usually they're just runny coconut water with artificial flavoring, but Fire Bowl did a good job. The Side Salad was also very good with crisp greens and a nice curry dressing that was very lightly applied, but enough to allow total coverage. I can't wait to try out some more of their main courses. In the meantime, rest assured that their "side dishes" are darn good too! read more

You work in a restaurant, I understand I'm not a customer but if they treat me like that as a delivery driver I can't imagine how are they going to treat me if I eat there. Boy, did I make a mistake! I hadn't gone in a really long time. It's as great as it ever was. The best part: they added (as my memory goes) tofu spring rolls (soft rice paper). The price and freshness were terrific. The Fire Noodles with tofu were terrific. The tofu wasn't double fried as a lot of places are want to do. Food was fine but the manager was so unaccommodating that we will not be returning to this restaurant again. We used to go here pre-COVID and thought we would try to give them some business. We were eating outside. The server brought us our egg rolls in little bags. We asked for plates to put them on to eat. She said she would bring them. We waited and saw her filling up supplies inside and was not coming back. I went in to ask for plates to be told they had none when they clearly had cardboard bowls they put the meals in. The manager came over and did not want to give me one and seemed appalled that I wanted 3...there were 3 of us. Most places we have eaten at seem very appreciative of the business. We are trying to do our part to help local restaurants. Please do NOT waste your money at a place that does not want your business! We have been eating food from TSO and would HIGHLY recommend them. I want to communicate the worst phone call experience I had with one of your staff members at the arboretum location in Austin TX. Her name is Cindy. I called to place a phone order for work. I had already tried to place the order online had no luck. Cindy picked up and from the get-go she was not pleasant, she had an attitude. I ignored it being it was the beginning of lunch hour. Before I started with my order I let Cindy know it was going to be a large order, she then asked: "if I could order online". I responded with I already tried that and it was directing me to order through a third party (favor, door dash etc.). She then continues to respond with "yes you can order online", I asked her if she could take my order over the phone. She then sighed and asked what I wanted. I asked if she was the manager, due to her attitude not being pleasant, and seemed as if I was troubling her with my order (which was a little over $70 dollars). She stated no, I asked if her manager was there she said no "they are short staff" not sure why I needed to know they were the short staff. Anywho I'm sure there was someone who manages there, but did not feel the need to go back and forth with her. I proceeded with my order her attitude did not change continue to sighed, huff and puff and be very condescending whiled I place the order. I ended up placing my order at the wrong location. I could not recall which location I had placed the order. I called one store and they were pleasant and apologized for the mess up but they did not have my order. I then called the next location (The arboretum ) to my surprise Cindy answered the phone as if she was bothered for calling her restaurant. She did not let me say anything and places me on hold after giving her broad greeting "fire bowl cafe at the arboretum Please hold" I was on hold for over 10 minutes, She did not get back on the phone. I hung up called and busy dial tone. I tried multiple times with no Answer. I finally was on my way to work with the food from the Brodie location and Cindy answered I explained I needed for her to cancel the order and provide a refund. She stated she would take care of it, I asked how long the credit would take and she stated she did not know to check with the bank. Again she was not pleasant. This employee seems very Entitle and a bully. If she treated me like that a paying customer I can only imagine how she treats staff. Overall she was the worst and I am baffled of the lack of professionalism this person had. To my surprised I found out she is in a higher position then what she leads to be. On another note... Staff members at Brodie location were so helpful and were able to get my order in and out within 15 minutes or less. They made the experience much better. I really hate doing 1 star reviews, this is only my second one and hopefully my last. I went here last week and got pickup because I only took a short break at work. Got the "stir fry your way" bowl. Chicken, Thai veggies, ramen lo-mien, with the spicy peanut sauce. It's was 9 bucks so I was expecting it to be a decent size portion. I got back to office and was very mistaken. I'm not even a big guy and it doesn't take much to fill me up, but this was not even close to enough. There were 4 pieces of chicken in the whole bowl. As for the chicken itself, it seemed overcooked and was ridiculously dry. They were very stingy with the vegetables. The vegetable I did get seemed fairly fresh, but there just wasn't enough. As for the noodles, it's my fault for not paying attention when ordering, but they are indeed "Ramen" noodles in the shape of lo-mien noodles. The sauce was completely overwhelming and the entire meal was just drenched in it. I had to use a ton of salt just to dull out the taste. In the end I thought to myself, "Wow, I just paid almost $10's for a bowl of lo-mien style ramen noodles that was soaked in an overwhelmingly strong sauce". Maybe I don't get it. The reason I went there is because they have so many positive reviews that I had read on here. Tonight my boyfriend ordered me a to-go order online and paid. I walked in and went to the to-go line and waited for about 7 minutes. The manager was there prepping food but the cashier girl (dark rimmed glasses/bifocals) just stood there. I don't know if she couldn't see me or what.
