    Pad Thai

The people were SUPER nice, which is honestly why I'm giving this place a 4 instead of a 3. The egg drop soup was really good and definitely the highlight of the meal. The Pad Thai, unfortunately, wasn't my favorite--the sauce was very vinegar-forward, so it just wasn't for me. That said, I would go back and try a different dish because the service alone made the experience enjoyable.

We were greeted by the sweetest Zumu (grandmother) who helped us. Unassuming casual restaurant filled with a very friendly atmosphere. The soups are so rich and flavorful at Twin Lion Chinese Restaurant in Austin. The seasoning is excellent. We had the lunch specials served with an egg roll and soup. We also had crab Rangoon - excellent- amazing fried oozing with delicious cream cheese and their steamed dumplings. The dumplings are big and very tasty. I had Mongolian. Perfect. Just perfect. Hubby had the "Dragon and Lion Fight" was also tasty with the vegetables still slightly crispy. We want to come back and try the appetizer sampler. We give this place for the great fresh food and the casual and super sweet service a 6!!. A restaurant does not have to be pretentious and fancy to be a 6 in my book!!!

When you come to Austin you need to stop here for lunch or dinner. Andrea sat us in a cozy corner, took our order and was helpful in making a selection, she was amazing. We started with egg drop soup, egg roll with crispy noodles; it was delicious. Our entrees were cashew chicken and my husband had combination fried rice; both were fresh and delicious. My husband had sweet tea and I got hot jasmine tea. There was plenty of leftovers. The restaurant is nicely decorated while love songs play. We will be returning all the way from Fort Worth Tx.

Natives of Austin. Since moving back in 2020 we've been looking for a high quality Chinese restaurant for two years. Twin Lions is a great find. From the amazing Shrimp Toast to the under appreciated Egg Fu Young we haven't found a bad dish yet. The service is excellent and the older women obviously in charge know what they are doing. Never ending tea refills is not a lot to ask for but often lacking. Not here. We've found our Chinese comfort food home.

I've come here whenever I go into Austin! I think the thing that stands out the most is any of the saucy fried foods like general tso's or orange chicken was amazing. I don't really know how they do it, but they keep the crispiness when they slather on the sauce. You would think overtime, it would become soggy-- but these don't! I also really loved their basil dishes and the fried squid! 10/10 so delicious. Also, there is so much LOYALTY from their clientele. During their breaks during the day, you can see people just waiting in their cars waiting for them to open. I even overheard the owners saying they still have the same people coming after 30 years of service. If you're nearby and want asian food, this is your place!

I don't get the reviews. Special egg rolls wasn't that special & 2 for $5 is a rip. Should be 3 bucks - never again

I do not understand the high reviews of this place. I guess we have a gap in tastes, expectations, and quality. My lunch experience here was less than stellar and there's nothing here that would provoke me to come back again, unfortunately. For lunch this place came highly recommended by many people, so I show up and for Covid they are only doing take out. She recommended the Wonderful Chicken, comes with rice, soup, veggie egg roll, for around $11. I read the Special Egg Rolls are really special so I ordered 2 for $5+. In all it came to around $16. I get home and first thing I notice is the rice is dried out and old, and they short changed me on the quantity by giving me a small ice cream scoop's worth (WTF?). A few days ago I had lunch at another Thai / Chinese place and they give you double the rice. The thing is - rice is really cheap, and these places usually throw out a lot of rice at the end of the day. It did not taste good - dried out and old. That is not good. Next thing - the Special Egg Rolls weren't really that special at all. They were small in size like the veggie ones you get w/ your lunch, and these should cost $3 instead of the $5+ range (for 2). The taste? Not that special. I went to Thai Cuisine last week for lunch, they have the same egg rolls on their appetizer bar which they offer free for lunch - as many as you want - and they taste way better. So what that means is egg rolls are cheap, but at Twin Lion they are not as good (as Thai Cuisine) and yet they are very pricey. Pass. The Wonton Soup - not good. The broth tasted off, it was too salty, kind of a plastic-like taste, and the wontons were okay but I did not like this at all - maybe sitting in the pot all day long and got old. The Wonderful Chicken was okay yet far from wonderful and it's definitely not healthy The quality of this dish is mediocre and it contains a lot of breading and MSG. Some may like this, but this is really cheap quality food - plus about an hour later I was ready to doze off for a nap (that's what MSG does to me - knocks me out). With everything so mediocre or bad, it certainly does not motivate me to try anything new here - hope that makes sense? They've been here 30 years (she told me), so they've survived but maybe they're just in a good location w/ limited Chinese options and competition. And maybe they used to be really good back in the day and offered respectable cuisine, but after time their quality and portions have deteriorated. I noticed a few people ordered the wings here, so maybe that's good, but for my lunch the quality was mediocre, they gave me dried out and stale rice in a very limited portion, and the wonton soup was not tasty. It was not a good lunch at all. Nothing special about the special egg rolls which were not worth the price, as it was my first and probably my last meal here. They were not horrible, hence the 2-star review ( = "meh I've experienced better"), they're just not my cup of tea.

Mixed meat with garlic sauce! Delicious

Did not have a reservation on this occasion, but they always make me feel welcome and manage to fit us in. Sat on the outdoor covered patio that was cool and shaded. The atmosphere is modern and lively, making it a great spot for a weekend brunch. Started the meal with cocktails including Lycheetini with Deep Eddy Vodka, Giffard Lichi-li. lemon, cranberry, I cut the cranberry. Also had a Fresa Paloma with Socorro Reposado Tequila, Contratto, strawberry, lime, grapefruit, five-spice that was very sweet and garnished with a flower. You are given a card where you can mark your dim sum selections. I ordered the Shrimp Pancake, Snow Crab Ball and Chinese Sausage Sticky Rice. The standout was the shrimp pancake that had a really great texture and flavor. The snow crab ball had a strange texture with shrimp surrounding the snow crab claw. The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. The presentation of the food is amazing and everything came out hot and fresh. The flavors were on point, and you can tell there's attention to detail in the preparation. Service was attentive outdoors and the pacing of dishes felt just right for a relaxed brunch. This restaurant is truly a gem whether you come for brunch or dinner service. Will definitely be back.

The chicken basil pot stickers and pork belly were good.. but a bit dry for my taste. However, the sauces they offer were all good. Martini was a jump scare in color but taste was on pointtt! Service was fine but we were out front on the patio and though our waiter was attentive while we ordered, we ended up finishing and waiting 40 minutes for someone to come by so we could grab the check. I ended up just heading inside and the maître d' was able to close us out. Tables around us were open so I'm not sure what had them held up, and it could've been a one off, but definitely not ideal at this price point.

I came here on a word-of-mouth recommendation, and I was intrigued before I even sat down. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a beautifully designed waiting area showcasing the restaurant's many awards and accolades. It immediately sets the tone that you're in for something special. We came with one goal: try as many things as possible. Saturdays are perfect for that because they offer dim sum. We started with the Pho Xiao Long Bao (Wagyu beef soup dumplings) and the Korean pancakes. The soup dumplings completely stole the show. Perfectly cooked, delicate wrappers, rich and flavorful broth, and with just a touch of chili oil...absolute perfection. I've had soup dumplings in many places, and these are hands down the best I've ever had. I say that with my whole chest. The Korean pancakes were also outstanding. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with that perfect balance of savory and just a hint of sweetness. Every bite had great texture and flavor. For our entrées, my husband ordered the Banana Salmon. It was spectacular. It's one of those dishes that makes you question whether you've ever really had good curry before. The spice wasn't about heat, it was about depth, warmth, and layers of beautifully balanced flavor. I ordered the Crab&Shrimp Tom Yum Coconut Fried Rice, and this dish deserves its own paragraph. The presentation alone is stunning. The fried rice is served inside a fresh coconut, surrounded by banana leaves and topped with a beautiful orchid. But thankfully, it tastes every bit as incredible as it looks. The coconut adds a delicate sweetness without overpowering the dish. The crab was plentiful, sweet, and incredibly fresh, while the shrimp were perfectly cooked, not a second overdone. Dishes like this require impeccable timing because every ingredient cooks differently, and somehow every single component was flawless. It was one of the best fried rice dishes I've ever eaten. The service was equally impressive. Everyone was warm, attentive, and happy to offer recommendations based on their most popular dishes. They even told us about their live music nights, which immediately gave us another reason to come back. The table next to us was having Pho and needed with the mango sticky rice and I am coming back for that. Overall, 1618 Asian Fusion delivered on every level, beautiful atmosphere, exceptional food, and genuinely welcoming service. It's one of those restaurants that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even paid the bill. Highly recommend!

I promptly received an email acknowledging the issues, with promise to communicate that forward. I also received a credit. The timeliness of the response made it clear to me that there is an eye to quality control and that there's earnestness in making things better. I'll raise my "C-" to a "B-" and will give them another chance. ------------- Delivery: It took 1hr 25min for an order of soup, spring rolls, and lettuce wraps to be delivered... on a Monday... after lunch rush... when the restaurant location is less than 2 miles away. Online order: 1:03p; food in hand: 2:27p. That was a bummer. It's normally 30-40 minutes. Food: The small container of the dipping sauce (packed in the spring roll container) had a warped, melted lid... it was packed at the top of my complete order bag, and I suspect that it sat under a heat lamp for about 40 minutes. The spring rolls were soft and pithy and soaked in in the sauce. Kinda yucky. No crunch left. Food: I ordered chicken lettuce wraps. That came in a bi-partition container; lettuce on one side and chicken on the other. The lettuce was totally limp. The lettuce was dark green and looked like it was the nasty stuff you might peel off of a head of lettuce that sat too long in your refrigerator drawer. I'm sure it started out fresh when the meal was packed, but putting it in a container with hot food, and then next to a container of soup, and then letting it all sit under a heat lamp for 40 minutes did it no good. I did contact Tso's online and suggested that they pack lettuce separately for their lettuce wraps. Food: The chicken, the hot & sour soup, and the spring rolls were all a bit salty... saltier than usual, IMHO. Tso's is usually a solid "B", but this meal barely met a "C-".
