SF Custom Stir Fry and Pad Thai
    Carrie M.

My noodle stir fry was truly a fire bowl. I didn't expect much from an Asian fast casual type place, but these noodles tasted of high quality. I had the stir fry your way with chicken, spring veggie mix, teriyaki sauce, and flat rice chow fun. The spring veggie mix with the bamboo shoots and water chestnuts really hit. The teriyaki sauce was not too sweet at all, and the chicken was great in the sauce. My friend got the pad Thai, and she said it was good but not her favourite. She was able to finish all of hers, and I had about 1/3 left, although I could have finished it if I were hungry. For $15, this was not as generous of a portion as I would like since it is fast casual, but I was so impressed by the taste and quality that it gets five stars.

I was not a fan of the dumplings at all. They were too doughy. The lomein was delicious. The service was attentive. I love a good lomein. It was very reasonable and quick service.

We ordered around lunch time on a Friday and service was on point! After eating we ordered to-go online and it was ready in no time! This location is perfect if you are shopping and need a fast pick-me-up!

shrimp, noodles, mushrooms. I don't remember what this dish is called but it was yummy. Vietnamese SF Custom Stir Fry

The menu is pretty extensive too, so it was easy for everyone to find something they were excited about. I had the Tum Tad salad, which was super fresh and flavorful with a nice balance of tangy and savory. For dessert, the mango sticky rice was a standout. It was made with a black rice that actually looked kind of blue, which made it really visually fun. The restaurant itself has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar. It seems like a nice place to have a meal. As for the food, we ordered: Pad thai with chicken, mild spice - unfortunately this was a bit dry for me, though the taste was good. Pad see ew with chicken - I liked their version and would probably get it again. Pad woon sen with pork - typically my favorite noodle dish and I think they did a good job. Garden roll - good but not as packed as others I've had, and at a higher price point. Pineapple fried rice with pork - I liked this but was a bit on the oily side. Tom kha soup - I thought this was very good and had a decent amount of chicken and mushrooms Overall I liked everything but some items I felt I had better versions of elsewhere. It's also on the pricier side. Still, if in central Austin I think it's a solid choice for Thai food.

I've noticed while being in Texas, places that cater to the ethnicity that the food is for are given a lover rating then if the food was white washed. Ex: I've gone to a few Mexican restaurants and the food wasn't spicy and was missing a lot of flavor. All the ratings were great for the restaurants even though clearly it was missing a lot of key ingredients. But this restaurant was AMAZING the service was also amazing and if you want good curry come here! The ambience was nice too. They were playing k pop music (I know that's not everyone's favorite music but u couldn't really here it that much anyway) also they were playing cute animal music in the back and I loved it! Anyway loved this place and the food was GREAT, it's hard to find a restaurant with great flavor that had great spice. If you don't like restaurants with spicy food you can adjust the spice. Also, it was a little dim but that doesn't affect the food at. LOVED this place!!!

It paired well with the noodles. * khảo soi: 3/5 I watched a documentary about this dish and was so excited to see it was available at Kiin Di! When we first received the dish, it was super salty so we advised our waitress we couldn't eat it because it was overly salty. She was very kind and took it back. She asked us if we would like to replace that dish. We asked for pad Thai. Later she brought out the Kháo soi redone and said it was on the house and ask for our feedback. She apologize and informed us the sauce had reduced down too low and that is why it was salty. She asked us to try it and let her know. It was less salty but the more we ate the more it got salter. It was definitely creamier and less salty but it's still salty. Not overwhelming salt like the first but ate salty with each bit. We really appreciate her being so open and appreciative for feedback. Although the dish was too salty for our preference... we appreciate the effort and courtesy to make it right. That shows an adaptive and hard working business that values feedback and that is a marksmanship of a business will thrive with lifetime customers. * 2 Thai teas : 3/5 We had ask for a lot of Thai Tea and less milk but the Thai tea was still very milky. We wish the Thai Tea was bolder and stronger in flavor. * chicken wings with spicy tamarind sauce: 5/5 highly recommended dish! There is not many places in Austin that has this spicy tamarind chicken wing that I can find. A rare dish and an outstanding one! Salty Sour Sweet Mild Spicy Unami AND CRAVEABLE! Chicken was juicy and cripsy on the outside despite being toss in the sauce. We devoured the 5 wings and regretted we finished it all because we wanted more! These delicious wings are going to definitely be on my mind just thinking of it now is making my mouth water..... so good! !! If you love tamarind it's a must try! * mussels: 1/5: we were wondering why the mussels didn't have any Yelp pictures for Kiin Di but we may have found out why. The mussels are presented beautifully. The presentation was great and we were excited to dig in. Unfortunately the mussel ran very salty and the mussels were very very tiny. The shell was average size but I think the mussels were overly cooked. The mussels absorb the salty sauce so we couldn't eat many. We felt bad for sending back one dish so we didn't want to send back a second dish again. * tofu pad Thai: 5/5 I never thought I would ever say this because I Love 1618 Asian Fusion cripsy pad Thai so much that no other pad Thai had ever compared to theirs... but Kiin Di pad Thai definitely rank the best regular pad Thai I had (without the cripsy). The favors were so well balanced of salty , mild spicy , sour. The noodles were chewy and springy! I love the texture and this dish is so so craveable too! We got tofu but next time we will get the chicken. The tofu ran a bit sour thus why we will get chicken next time. The flavors explode in your mouth. Like wow! Highly recommend this dish! It wasn't spicy for all the non spicy eaters. Note if there's any dish can't eat spicy, you can let your waitress know and they can adjust the spicy level for you. The staff is very attentive. Do I recommend this place? Absolutely! The best pad Thai in Austin. We can't wait to come back to get the tamarind wings and pad Thai along with trying their other dishes. There is free parking on Sundays. We went on Sunday at 12:30 pm and were seated but this restaurant filled up pretty fast after we were seated. Service is 5 stars. Absolute gem for authentic Thai food. They had other dishes I've never seen at other Thai restaurants we been to which sets them a part.

We got the: * Roti Dip * Soft shell crab in curry * Papaya salad I loved the roti, it was crispy and the curry was flavorful, a bit salty but they paired well. The biggest miss for me was the soft shell crab in curry, the plate came out room temp which was a bit disappointing since curry is best served warm/hot. The batter on the crab was super thick it felt like we were just eating deep fried crab that got soggy quickly as it's served in the curry. The curry had some separation almost as if the coconut milk in it had been reheated or curdled during the cooking process. I'm not an expert chef but I've worked with coconut milk enough to notice these things. The papaya salad was decent, I loved the tangy and fresh flavors (we opted for 3 spice but definitely could've amped it up). I prefer my papaya salad with more "funk" but understand that's a different style. I am sad I had to give this place only 3 stars because my expectations were high considering this is their brick & mortar. I will have to give it a try again and taste other dishes. Overall the service was friendly, got sat immediately and didn't have to wait too long for the food to come out. More parking in the back of the restaurant, be weary of the signs from other businesses.
