There is a parking lot with lots of spaces. There is both seating inside and outside. As soon as I entered I knew it was going to be good. Everything looked yummy so it was so hard to choose. I ended up ordering a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie. They will heat up your sandwich upon request. It is served on their yummy bread and has a slightly sweet spread on it. The sausage is peppery and hearty. The sprouts add the perfect freshness. The chocolate chip cookie is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside just the way I like them. I'll have to go back to try their croissants! read more

This is where we started our trip in Alaska and we couldn't ask for a better place than this! I love the open kitchen where I could see behind the scene of how the bread and pastries are made. The place is clean and bright. I got the focaccia with sausage and the pain au chocolat. The worker was very nice to offered them warmed up. Breakfast focaccia (5/5) The focaccia is made with sour dough which wasn't overly sour. The bread itself is fluffy and surprisingly moist. The egg is still soft and perfectly cooked. This focaccia is probably one of the best I've ever had, highly recommend! Pain au chocolat (4.5/5) The pain au chocolat has a crispy and buttery nutty note to it. The chocolate isn't overly sweet and it has just the right amount of chocolate filling. Highly recommend this place for a quick breakfast! read more

It's always busy but they run some cool system and the line hoes super fast, so don't be discouraged when you enter and see the line to the door- don't leave! We visited here on vacation. We each ordered a breakfast focacia and shared trifle. Today we slept in, so they were out of breakfast sandwiches by the time we arrived. I ordered a drip coffee at the bakery line. It was $3 and tasted like coffee shop coffee. Overall, the music was good but the lobby doesn't really offer enough seating. We had to wait for a table. We were also bumped out of line for check out and our guy disappeared and for awhile we didn't know where to go. I think the breakfast focacia would have been very good if it were heated for about 5 seconds. It was really cool to watch the people make perfectly executed baked goods while we stood in line to pickup our food. I think this place could use a few more tables and some fine-tuning, but overall it is a good experience with delicious food and excellent coffee. read more

Great artisan bakery with high-quality bread loads, sandwiches, baked goods, etc. They even have a few vegan baked items. We got their sourdough loaf to go ($9!), plus a couple of tasty birdseed bars ($3 each) one morning while waited for our breakfast table at nearby Snow City Cafe. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, which seems to be the norm in Anchorage. There's also a full espresso bar in the same building (That Feeling Co) that you can get a nice coffee to accompany your bakery item. This place came highly recommended. I thought it was just ok. There was a long line when I went. It moved fast though. I wish they actually had a list of ingredients available. I ordered the focaccia thinking it was just cheese and pesto. Since I got it to go I didn't take a good look at it. It was packed with mushrooms. Unfortunately I'm allergic to mushrooms and had to throw it away. Also the menu on their site is outdated. So make sure to double check their update list once you get to the store. I LOVE that this place has a plant store/coffee shop attached. Their breakfast sandwich was pretty good and the croissants are just ok. Not as crispy as some other bakeries. Still, their egg avocado sandwich is freaking delicious and they make a really nice macaron. Their monkey bread is probably the best I've ever had. The alfajore is pretty good as well. For all the years I've lived in Anchorage I finally was able to drop in to the bakery while they were open. I nabbed their wheat bread, a birdseed bar and a lavender blueberry cupcake for the kid. The wheat bread was good- I should have asked them to preslice it because the crust on it is IMPENETRABLE. I almost lost a finger trying to cut it. For 8 dollars it wasn't as tasty as I expected... I prefer the rustic breads from the Eastern European Grocery and bakery, so I don't think I'd buy it again. The birdseed bar was great, I'd definitely get those again, it was very filling and tasty. The kiddo loved the cupcake, although it was a luxury to be sure at $6.50. You have to splurge once in a while. The only criticism was the the icing left something to be desired. We stayed at the Voyager Inn and had extra butter in our refrigerator. What does one do with extra butter on vacation? You need BREAD! We walked over to the Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop and and ate an entire baguette with butter. Mmm! Honestly, if we'd been at all hungrier, there were some really awesome items available, but a baguette with butter has happy memories for us. A baguette and hard cheese was one of our staples for camping. I found the prices to be very reasonable and would love to visit again in the future. I also loved the open kitchen where we could watch people making the bread and pastries behind glass. There were some other shops in the same building, a place to eat (indoor/outdoor), and bathrooms. Outside, we saw a lovely Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop lady with this awesome cart that folds down into nothing! It's pretty sweet and seemed perfect for half-sheet trays. It locks the folding baskets in place and has little kick stands to make it stand up while folded. What cool engineering! I got the breakfast focaccia with sausage for $7.50. The egg was perfectly cooked and the sausage was delicious. I arrived at 2pm and my only real gripe was that it wasn't warmed. The sandwich would've definitely been better warmed up, but it was room temperature. I could've asked them to warm it up I bet, but the line was out the door and I finished it before the line moved much.
