Hmm, I'm ambivalent on this one. The Good: They have a nice selection of sauces and I like that they have taster trays set up at the counter so you can "try before you buy". I love that they have several options for vegetarian/vegan customers. The cauliflower wings were actually my favorite item that we tried, followed by the fries, followed by the seitan wings, followed by the chicken wings. Turns out we came on meatless Thursday so our cauliflower and seitan wings were each $2 off. Sweet! The Bad: The chicken wings, of all things! They were adequately sauced but there was very little meat on the bones and what meat there was was overcooked and dry. The Bottom Line: I probably wouldn't come here again for chicken wings, especially given that I have an excellent wing restaurant in my neck of the woods in Aurora. But I would definitely come to Fire on the Mountain again for the vegetarian fare! read more

Found this place after hearing rave reviews of "best wings in Denver", and my boyfriend and I love wings so thought we'd give it a try. Unfortunately we were massively disappointed. We got 4 different flavors, and none were up to par. They were either bland or just straight up didn't taste good, the worst being Jamaican Jerk. Couldn't even finish the wings before I gave up. We ordered take out last night and the kitchen was 1 hour behind on orders, so after arriving on site, it was quite a long wait. I get it, COVID means they may have been understaffed and they got slammed, but the food was not good and not as ordered. The Good: Fries were actually crispy, tasty, and hand cut. The blue cheese dressing is AMAZING!! best I've ever had. The system for picking up online orders is great. Stand at the doorway and give your name, they text you when you're order is ready. Simple and streamlined. The Bad: 2 Orders of wings extra crispy and paid for extra celery came swimming in sauce, not crispy AT ALL, and with like 3 pieces of steamed celery under the wings. Burger was not good...a tiny dried out patty. The nachos were exceptionally bad. Came all unassembled...if I wanted to cook my own dinner, I would have done a much better job. I can't help it. I like wings and Fire On the Mountain satisfies my craving. They have a pretty good variety of sauces to try from the not-so-spicy to the "my mouth is on fire" spicy, so I like to try a few different ones with a side of ranch and bleu cheese dressing. They all go well with some tater tots, so make sure to slap some of those on your order. If you're more hungry than wings, they have a full menu of sandwiches, salads, and burgers as well. My favorite go-to burger is the Bacon Bleu. They also have a full bar and a rotating selection of craft beers. Like a lot of businesses that serve the public, there are a few modifications during the COVID pandemic. You can no longer self-sample the sauces at the counter, and you need to wait outside until a seat becomes available. But the dining area inside is fairly spacious and outside there are two tent-covered patios to accommodate additional people. Service here is great and they operate on a team concept. So although you will have a primary server, your food and drink may be brought out by others. You might also get asked for a drink refill when any of the attentive staff sees that you are in need. It's nice since it keeps the diners happy and the tables turning. The only downside to Fire On the Mountain is that when it's busy your food may take a while to come out from the kitchen. That may actually be a good thing since everything is cooked to order, so you'll be happy that when it does come out it will be hot and fresh. They do post a sign letting people know if there is a slight wait. read more

This place is simply, DAMN GOOD! My wife has been trying to drag me to this place for quite some time now and to be honest, I wish I would've come here sooner. Here's why... Many of you have more than likely been to Buffalo Wild Wings or Wing Stop, but these places are horrible in comparison to Fire on the Mountain. FOTM has a variety of wing flavors, which I personally recommend Spicy Peanut, Jamaican Jerk and the Bourbon Chipotle! The "hot" wings weren't really too hot, but it didn't really matter because the flavors I previously mentioned, were perfect. For one, the wings were crispy, as they should be, and weren't soggy. Cooked perfectly for sure. We also ordered a house salad and fresh cut fries, which were both good. I think they make their balsamic vinegrette and ranch dressings in-house and both were good. Be prepared to wait for a table as this place isn't very big and gets extremely busy. Overall, I'll definitely stop avoiding this place and make my way back really soon. I don't get the hype. Wings are my favorite food and this place just kind of drops the ball. I've had it somewhere between 5-8 times and the experience is varied every single time. From dining in, to takeout pre-covid and takeout during COVID; its always variable if I'll enjoy my meal. The worst of my experience have been during take-out - once was the wrong order. Second time was a painstaking wait outside in 30 degree weather where I waited an additional 40 minutes for an order (past the time they told me to arrive). Third time was where my dry-rub wings were not seasoned at all. Atmosphere: The inside is pretty chill, like a mini sports bar with food that is a great place to grab a beer, eat some wings/burgers and watch some sports. Nothing particular special about their interior aside from their "patio" which is not really a patio but has roll up/openable windows that allow for fresh air when its nice outside. Food: -Personally a huge fan of dry-rub wings and they have a limited selection, so I've slowly found my favorites with their menu selection. Personal favorites: Cajun dry rub, lime cilantro and bourbon chipotle. Have had the burgers which are straight forward and fries which are straight forward. Pro-tip for dairy free: best dairy free ranch I've had. Long story short: Hit or miss if you'll have a good batch of wings or food. The wing sauce is so delicious just phenomenal and finger licking good! Their homemade ranch is always delicious. Very friendly staff/service as well we had a takeout order due to the restraint not being fully open yet and we still received such friendly interaction with the staff. I will say the wings are on the smaller size and that's the reason I don't rate it 5 stars. If they could use a different type of wings that's more meaty then this would be 5 stars! I hate I have to do this review. As of 7/1/22 I order wings from this location and they were the smallest wings I've ever had. If you've been to this location before you know in the past the wings have been phenomenal. Tenders even better. I'm not mad I supported a local business just disappointed the sold me on the tiniest of wings. 9 wings for $16.. if their goal was to give me 9 tiny wings each for both sauces, I'd rather just have 4 & 5 of decent size wings of each sauce. After four instances in a row of takeout orders missing items (big items like wings, tenders, etc) I've given up on FOTM. Unfortunate considering they have been a go to during COVID for takeout. While they always take the missing items off the check, I'm left with situations where someone doesn't have their food or anything they can eat (i.e a vegetarian not getting their meatless "wings"). The quality of the food isn't what it used to be. Portion size and sauce amounts are super inconsistent. Food is often undercooked or overcooked. Our neighbors had recommended this spot and it did not disappoint. We decided to finally try it when we were looking for a takeout option close to a BYOF brewery we were on our way to. We ordered online, got a text when it was ready, and everything was ready exactly on time so the pickup went smoothly. This place is awesome!! My husband and I came in for the first time last week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We sampled a few sauces before deciding on extra hot and spicy peanut (which was to die for) along with an order of the totchos. The atmosphere here is very relaxed and we loved the extensive beer choices. I thought the beer taps displayed from the bar ceiling were pretty neat, definitely an interesting choice for decor! Our order came out quickly and the food was great. The wings were hot, crispy, and went well with their amazing house made ranch. The totchos were delicious!! We meant to save some to eat at home, but that didn't happen since we devoured the entire basket. Our meal went down great with the craft beers we ordered. Only reason why this review has four stars instead of five is the lack of parking. Other than that, everything was great. My family comes to this place often. We don't live very close but it's worth the 30 minute drive. They have the best wings in the metro area in my opinion. The consistency for at least the past 6 years has been spot on. We get our wings with sauce on the side because they stay super crispy, the way we like them. The appetizers are always really good and we have never been disappointed with them. Mozzarella wheels and chili cheese tots are always perfect. Consistency is key for a food joint to keep folks coming back and they're doing right. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive and we've never had a bad experience with anyone there. Best seitan wings around!!! I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but I love getting veggie options. The regular wings are good, but the seitan wings are fire!! They have great chewy texture and are the perfect vehicle for the sauces. On this visit, we shared some queso and I got my usual 9 seitan wings with their spicy peanut sauce and their sauce of the month, Szechuan peppercorn. We were promised fresh fried chips for our queso, but just got bagged chips instead. Oh well, the queso was pretty good! The Szechuan peppercorn sauce was so good, it was a sweet, spicy, peppery sauce. I hope it becomes a part of their regular rotation. Solid place for wings, but be prepared to wait. Came in on a Saturday during what was a dinner rush, but we were fortunately seated right away. Our server was training and she was awesome. Super quick, checked on us regularly and was very friendly. While their wings run on the small side, they are really freaking good and cooked perfectly. No soggy gross fatty chicken wings here. I've heard so many awesome things about this place and finally got to see what the hype was about! I love wings and love that there are restaurants that are dedicated to just wings. I ordered 3 of the spicy peanut boneless wings and I freaking loved the sauce it had so much flavor and perfect amount of spiciness! My husband and our friend got the medium and the garlic Parmesan and they were delicious! I also loved the craft beer selection too! So I give it 4 stars because I feel like there was too much sauce it overpowered the wings. I think next time I will order the wings but get a side of the sauces to dip them in. The wings are always on point you you have to get the sauce the month , whatever it is ( this time around it was Buffalo namm- a creamier buffalo sauce ). I also got the raspberry habinerio , and tried my bfs bbq wings all 10/10. The fries are good- in-between a steak fry and a show string. This has been a place that Denver has boasted about since I moved here almost 2 years ago. As a big fan of wings, I've been waiting impatiently to come to FOTM. These wings absolutely did not disappoint. They were not overly crispy where you felt like you were only eating breading. The chicken was cooked perfectly where it has a good crisp bite, yet still very juicy. I went with their buffalo sauce, because I'm a traditionalist dammit. I can't believe I've passed by this place on 32nd Street multiple times and never tried it before! We've been missing out!! Fire on the Mountain is an awesome little fast casual wing stop in a great location. I was thoroughly impressed with not just their wings, but their fried pickles and french fries as well. And if wings aren't your thing, there's plenty more on the menu to choose from, like sandwiches and burgers and even veggie options! Absolutely love how they have tasters at the ordering counter of all of their sauces with little celery sticks to dip with. Hubby was leaning towards a different sauce, but once he tried the flavor of the month, Buffalo Garlic, he went with that instead! I ordered the boneless wings with the Cajun Dry Rub (which didn't have a taster, but I'm more of a dry rub kind of gal), and they were sooo delicious. That ranch too!! Yum! Was super happy with my meal. Hubby was impressed with their beer selection and was excited to find something he had been wanting to try. The service was friendly when it came to seating, helpful when it came to ordering at the counter and quick when it came to the food. All around a great experience!! Only downside was the price. Everything adds up pretty quickly and there's an upcharge for extra sauce and for your wings to be all flats and things like that. I don't think we've ever spend $52 at a wing joint before.
