My husband and I love the sandwiches here! We've only ever carried out, but every single time we've come in to either place or pick up our order the entire staff has been super friendly! One of the ladies was even nice enough to make a batch of sweet tea since they were out and it was about an hour and a half from closing. Let's face it, sandwiches are usually not the most exciting meals in the world. However, a really good one can elevate your day whereas a horrible one can sink it like a torpedo (especially if its a sub, get it?) I think Firehouse Subs tries to get it mostly right, but it mainly succeeds in not tipping the scale in either direction. I give credit to Firehouse in that it appears to stay true to its mission to serve hearty hot subs using quality meats and no microwaves. I certainly would appaud it more if the chain had been started by a couple of fireman who saved lives by night and assembled killer hoagies by day , but the theme was a calculated affectation on the part of the founders. However, since there is no pretention to be something greater than a sandwich shop (yes, I'm talking to you Mr. Gourmet....er, I mean Jimmy John), it all seems OK. Firehouse distinguishes itself by packing their rolls with an ample portion of meat. The coldcuts are fine but I believe the meatballs and steak sandwiches stand out. Also, Bryan was not kidding about those hot sauces, because they are everywhere. I will admit that their house blend hot sauce really tops of those steak sandwiches nicely, though. Firehouse is not cheap, as sandwiches will run you up to $8 and they could definitely improve their order process, as it seems like you are forced to tell 6 different people if you want mustard or mayo. All in all, it is a safe and effective way to quickly fill your belly on a lunch hour and keep your life in balance.......plus you might piss off that annoying Jared in the process. read more

This review is based upon two visits to Firehouse. The first I had an Italian sub which was absolutely terrible. It had a ton of ham, little salami or pepperoni, and the dressing was very sweet. My wife had a club and she thought it was pretty good, so we returned. Second trip I had a meatball sub, which was much better than the first. My wife for some reason got the Italian... and she ordered it w/o dressing because I said it was too sweet. She found the sandwich to be too sweet and loaded with ham as well. My meatball was good, but the meatballs are too big for the bread, so they slice the bread open a bit and stuff the meatballs on top and it's like an open faced sandwich. 3/19/2011 Returned from out of town wanting something to eat. It was 8:55 pm and I had no idea what I wanted. Saw the Firehouse Subs and decided to give it a try. I went in 5 minutes before closing time. They had mopped the floors and I almost fell on my ass going in. Their menu is a bit complicated and I wasn't sure if they would customize the sandwiches. I wasn't sure if it was closing time or if the servers just weren't in the mood for my questions, but I was severely rushed to place my order. I ordered a turkey and roast beef sandwich. I don't remember the real name. I did not ask them to do any customization to my sandwich but needless to say, it was just okay. Nothing wonderfully delicious. Their 500 calorie menu is very good. Love the Datil Pepper Chicken. Spicy but not crazy. The "welcome to Firehouse" chorus when you walk in is annoying. One welcome is fine. Half a dozen is silly -- not that the staff has any choice I'm sure. :-) Overall a really good sandwich place. read more

Picked up a couple subs for me and my girl and this was our first time trying Firehouse Subs and buy were we impressed! The subs are very good and have great flavors to them. They also taste very fresh and are by far better than subway. We had the tuna sandwich which was very good and fresh. I'd definitely get it again. We also had the Meatball Sandwich and it blew away my expectations. It has great flavor, texture and is now my favorite sandwich. I'll keep coming back for it!!! read more

I really like this location and Firehouse subs in general. I see a lot of people compare Firehouse to Subway but I don't get that at all. They both make subs - but that's really the end of it, isn't it? Subway is a sterile yellow environment where you can have your cold sub toasted by a disinterested and unhappy employee. Then there is Firehouse. Anytime I enter a Firehouse Subs I'm greeted by someone yelling "Welcome to Firehouse" to me. Great, love the enthusiasm. The person taking my order is always happy to recommend a sandwich or hot sauce, etc ... the sandwiches are delicious as well. Once you've placed your order, you and your friends can grab your drinks and sit down and they will bring you your food. Again, much different experience than Subway. Firehouse is doing its own thing - completely different than Subway, and they do it well which is why I keep going back. read more

Great sandwiches -- Terrible employees I love the entire concept of Firehouse subs. They provide good sandwiches and are tied to local heroes. The problem with this location is the people they have hired. I ordered a sandwich and then tried to use my Firehouse gift card (which had 3X the cost of my order left on it). The girl working the register said their machine did not recognize my card. I asked if she could enter the number manually. Her response ... "My hands are tied". So I left. One day later, I went to a different location, placed the identical order, and paid with the same gift card with no issues. So, rather than try anything to try to accept my gift card, this employee just figured the job was done without even suggesting trying another register. This kind of poor service costs businesses money. I won't go back to this location again, due to the employee. read more

Today, I visited this store and OMG, I loved everything about my visit. The restaurant was clean, the food was great, the employees were nice, and the building was cool inside so I could sit down and enjoy my meal. All the employees were busy ensuring that every aspect of the business operations that directly affect the customers were taken care of professionally and in a timely fashion. This place was busy, people were happy, and the atmosphere was great. This is the total opposite of the location near my house in Plano off Coit. I know that these businesses are individually managed; but, Firehouse Corp there should be some standards, and this location really came through with setting the bar HIGH on excellence. This was my first time eating at Firehouse Subs. My husband and I went there for lunch. First off, the staff was extremely friendly. The manager was at the register and he was very helpful and polite. The food was so refreshing. It was much, much better than other Deli places we've eaten at. Never knew a great sub till i stumbled upon Firehouse. Great sub choices, piled meats, fresh bread without that gummy make you belch chemical feel when you eat Subway bread. If I had a dollar for every time I've eaten at firehouse id be a rich guy. Love this place. Hasn't gotten old. I frequent the frisco Preston road, and have been a regular at north frisco, and lewisville as well based on where I've worked. All great service, all great food! There is not one in denton and every time I have to go to subway (near work) it just depresses and angers me. Looking at their menu they didn't have very many varieties. I suppose they specialize in hot sandwiches bc I only saw two cold ones- tuna or chicken. I got the #1 Hook & Ladder w/ everything. They did put an ample portion of meat but the flavor was just okay. The bread was soggy in many areas, which grosses me out. I know however that it was a hot sandwich that I took to-go, and ate less than 10 minutes later so it's possible the condensation made it soggy but I wish they used a bread that would hold up better. The lettuce inside was also soggy and wilted. I got a medium size sandwich and it was a whopping $6.16 after tax, with no chips or drink. Overall I don't think I'd go back; Jimmy John's is definitely better for freshness and value. read more

I love this place....I was initially drawn to Firehouse to try the Coke machine that has like 100 flavor combinations but I keep coming back because of the quality food and great service. The Frisco location is our favorite. The owner is often there and is very friendly and attentive. We have tried several of the sandwiches. My favorite is the club, my friend likes the Steamer and the Meatball sub. I am not sure what makes their particular version of bread, meat and cheese soo good but it is delicious. Compared to other sandwich shops Firehouse is just better. The subs are hot, the bread is toasted and the flavor combinations, If you are in the mood for a good sub give this place a try- I don't think that you be disappointed. read more

This is my hubby's favorite sandwich place. I'm more of a Potbelly gal, but I do like firehouse. Likes: lots o'meat; staff always welcoming (and the teenager staff are pretty entertaining goofing around, joking with each other); fresh product; Cool story; and the barbeque sauce is sick, I think I could drink it, its that good.. Dis-likes: sometimes the brisket is too fatty; we have approximately 8 minutes to get home, otherwise the sandwich gets soggy and I can't handle that, it grosses me out; Sometimes I want a cold sandwich, and it seems more a hot sandwich place; and its super fattening, I blow my whole cheat day on this sandwich day... Overall, if I had to pick a sandwich place and my #1favorite wasn't an option, this place would be next. Oh, and p.s. Yes its more than Subway, but its also better quality.
