(My go-to sandwich choice here is the New York Steamer, fully involved. My wife likes the Hook and Ladder Light.) Stopped here today for the first time, with kids in tow. I had a discussion with the guy at the cashier (possibly the manager) about wanting a cold sandwich not hot. He specified they could do that, so I ordered a cold (uncooked in any way) Hook and Ladder. I got it to go, and was disappointed when I finally opened it, to find out it had been steamed and toasted. The subs are amazing! The customer service is always wonderful. There's about 20 variations of hot sauces, it's magical really. I've had a Turkey and Cranberry from the under 500 menu. Excellent meatball sandwich! I don't get into Firehouse Subs very often, just because I'm not in that area a lot. I went for a fundraiser for my daughter's school, and ordered the meatball sub to go. I was expecting it to be ok, but it was far better than ok. The meatballs had great flavor and texture, and there was just the right amount of marinara. I used to go here all the time when I lived in SCV. I moved to the South Bay two years ago and ate here while visiting a friend. My order is sort of complicated because I'm vegetarian and made up this random sandwich that they always had no issues making me. Anyways, two years later I walk in... the women behind the register remembers not only my name - but also my entire order! Even asked me how my daughter was! When this place opened, I thought,"Another sandwich shop in the SCV?" But we decided to give it a shot, and showed up on opening day. Friendly servers greeted us as we came in, and the shop itself was charmingly decorated with firehouse memorabilia. The menu had a decent amount of choices, and offered two sizes of sandwiches. The combo gets you a bag of chips and a medium drink, which is actually quite large. I tried the Momma's chicken salad sandwich which is a tasty mix of chopped chicken, mayo, diced peppers and pecans. That with a bag of barbecue chips is phenomenal. My husband got the BBQ cheddar brisket combo. The brisket is piled high and smothered in cheddar and some mayo. Flavorful and delicious best describe the food here. This place was amazing. We had the club on a sub and it was really good. The atmosphere was nice and family friendly. It was packed and the line was long to place an order but surprisingly the wait was very minimal. Friendly staff and a large sandwich can easily feed two people. This was my first time eating here. I had a wonderful experience and met with the owner for a few minutes. It is great to see an actively involved owner. I watched her do some clean up, cashiering, and also making the subs. I listened to how she engaged her staff and the customers. I am very happy for her and wish her much success. The food was perfect. I ordered the Hook and Ladder sub and it was delivered timely, warm and was exactly what I expected. There was a lot of flavor in the meat and I really appreciate that. As for the business itself, I think they have a great thing going on. I did take some time, while eating my sub, to look into the history of the franchise, its owners, and what it is all about. I'm so glad I did. This company is active in their communities and with fire and law enforcement. There is something to be said about that. I love supporting businesses like this one. I've read some reviews that had a negative experience. The management responded to the negative posts. All I can say, is give them a second chance. If you owned a business and someone posted a negative comment, wouldn't you like the opportunity to right the wrong? Sure you would. My last comment is a simple one. I ordered from this location. The delivery took in excess of an hour (above the ETA). The order I did receive was completely incorrect. I even had to spend a significant amount of time on hold with Yelp waiting for the restaurant to respond to our request for a replacement order. When this place gets it right they deserve 5 stars. However I'm consistently disappointed with the lack of oversight. For example today we ordered 4 sandwiches as combos, 2 being the same sandwich. The cashier charged us for 3 sandwiches and 4 combos... thank goodness we have learned to check our orders for accuracy. How do you even charge for 4 combos but only 3 sandwiches. That doesn't make any sense. There's always some type of issue with this place, they'll forget the cheese or the sauce, use the wrong type of bread or something. Come on guys get your stuff together. Great food as you'd expect from Firehouse. Well-staffed but if you're going to give the full Firehouse experience do it or don't. A half hearted "welcome to Firehouse" just makes it seem like the employees are being forced to greet customers, and I can get that from Subway. Working around a residential area can be tough when it comes to lunch time. FOOD: I decided to come to Firehouse with my co-workers to try the #10 sandwich, which was the smokehouse brisket with cheddar cheese. To start off, the sauces in this sandwiches are very rich in flavor. The BBQ sauce (one of their signature sauces) is a bit spicy. I personally like spicy so it was a plus for me. The sandwich comes in a medium or large. The medium size is a good portion size. The sandwich itself is about 7.49, but if you make it a combo (big soda and bag of chips), price came out to be around 11.25 (including tax). The brisket was very tender and the cheese was melted (OMG YES MELTED PEOPLE). The cheese you can tell its not store bought, which makes you wonder where can I get some of that cheese. My sub had mayo and mustard which added a little extra (uhm) to my sub. Makes you want to lick your fingers right there and then. The only downside is that there is only ONE soda machine, so if the crowd is a bit long be prepared to form rank just to get your coke. P.S they carry vanilla coke :) LOCATION: Firehouse is located on the same plaza as Barnes and Noble. Its to the right of the bookstore. It's pretty spacious and has room to sit outside and enjoy some fresh air. Next to the counter is a spice rack that holds about 20-30 different sauces. From hot sauce to bbq sauce. SERVICE: The cashier is very bubbly. I'd come again to try something else, but I might bring my own drink or something to avoid the big lines. P.S they bring your food to your table. read more

I really used to like this place. I used to go pre pandemic with my parents so I wanted to try them again since I haven't been there in almost a year. Unfortunately my experience wasn't the best. There was a blonde girl working the night shift 1/28/21 at around 5pm. she was extremely rude and just acted like she didn't care, even when asking on sandwich recommendations she just said I don't know with attitude and couldn't seem to be bothered, she just threw my sandwiches together and flipped them upside down when putting them into the bag (making them fall apart as soon as I got home a block away) I really wanted to try the Mac and cheese and I ordered it watching her forget the topping and was kinda disappointed by it. read more
