Great to be able to enjoy happy hour in the dining room. Cocktails were exceptional, food was outstanding and service was superb. Sergio was attentive and helpful with the menu since it was our first visit. Fisherman's dinner and Fireside steak were excellent and perfectly prepared. Was disappointed that Cincinnati chili was no longer on the menu but there were lots of other very inviting options. I really want to like this place. The ambience is fantastic. It's like you are in someone's 70's-'80's basement party room. The lights are dim and the '80's tunes are ubiquitous. The food is ok. The burgers are a bit better. The drinks are pretty solid. We had the spinach artichoke dip tonight, and it was so-so. What I will say is this. Under no circumstances should the appetizer come at the same time as the entree. If it does, it is free or removed no questions asked. While an apology was given, this is really lousy. Too much food all at once, and the entree takes priority which means you cannot enjoy the appetizer. It all comes down to timing in the kitchen. We asked for a box for her food, and the one provided couldn't have fit half of her leftovers. This comes down to attention. This place wants us to come back because it's ambience is intimate and relaxed. I hope they understand I want to like it here. Perhaps this will help to adjust a few things here. read more

Five stars just for the exceptional service by Mariah. Felt like a place that I would return just to enjoy the people and ambiance. Listen to the other reviewers when they tell you not to judge the restaurant by the outside. It's actually quite classy inside even though some of the pictures just show animal heads. OK my wife happens to be up in Seattle doing some business. I'm retired so I'm a chauffeur nowadays, and we decided to stop in at fireside, have a cocktail and a quick dinner. The ambience totally retro with the great old beers signs And the staff was wonderful. We like the laid-back by so much that we came back for a second night in a row I had the pot pie and it reminded me of the way my mom used to make it 45 years ago - classic! My wife, being a vegetarian, ordered the vegetable skewers, and they were great! The subtlety of the kale salad with it was very very nice. I realize not everybody likes kale but she really enjoyed it. Cocktail wise, the place is hip so are the cocktails. read more

I haven't reviewed anything on Yelp in years, but I felt like the had to put my two cents in here. I stopped by tonight for the first time due to the proximity to the airport and good reviews. It did not disappoint. To drink, I had the midwest barrel aged Manhattan, followed by the autumn sazerac, and both were amazing. Delicious takes on two of my favorite classic cocktails! Several other drinks on the cocktail menu looked great too. Food-wise, I tried the Oklahoma onion burger, and it was easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. The tots as a side were crispy and delicious too. I sat at the bar but look forward to returning with my wife to sit in one of the more dark, cozy looking areas. Loved the atmosphere! One of the only places to grab a classic cocktail in Burien. I am a terrible reviewer because I rate establishments based on the employees, overall vibe, and precisely one item from the menu--and I knew this place was 5 stars based on the vintage Rainier memorabilia alone. The bartenders and servers are nothing but top tier. I had three drinks instead of my limit of one because I kept "not wanting to go home" and despite my best efforts my craving for one Chicago whiskey sour was satisfied by three. This might be the only place in Burien that serves egg whites in their cocktails aside from the Tin Room, making it an easy choice for me and my new favorite place to meet up with friends. Decided to try a new place for breakfast today, and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't too busy when we got there, around 10 am, greeted by the server and she sat us right away. Super friendly, answered all of our questions. My husband ordered chicken fried steak and I ordered biscuits and gravy. The CFS was really good, the biscuits needed a little more gravy, but still good. There was another worker that came in after we got there, not sure what his role was, other than talking and talking. Our server got a little busy, a table with 4-5 people and another small table. She was busy with drinks etc with everyone in the restaurant. The kitchen had finished our food (we could see the food sitting) and had even rung the bell twice. The dude that loves to talk walked in the kitchen, could see the food sitting there, but decided to talk to the kitchen staff! Came back out and proceeded to talk to a guy sitting at the bar! HELLO, help deliver some food, help your co-worker out! It literally would've taken him 20 seconds to drop the food off. That was seriously annoying, our food sitting there for approximately 10 min! I felt bad that our server was so busy trying to take care of everyone while her chatty co-worker didn't do a lot. We're going to go back and try dinner at some point. read more

While she started wonderful, ended up pissed off because we only tipped her 10% of a split bill. The bill was 200+, we split the bill and left zero for tip on the first tab, the second bill we tipped the 20%. She started to explain how that was only 10% of the bill which I understood. She then tried to explain to me I'm only leaving a 10% tip, which again I knew what I was doing. She then said, "I don't make $20.00 an hour." With all the other babbling from her, we decided to give her another $20, but she didn't want it and placed jt back on the table. I took it and brought to the bar and left it there. I told her that her condescending tone, explanation about the 10% and her expectations was uncalled for. I've been going here once a month for the past 4 months for its smash burger, but today will be our last time. The entitlement of Valarie was uncalled for and unacceptable. Her service was not 40 dollars worth. She didn't even not once asked if we wanted water, more ketchup, or more drinks. We had to ask her. And it wasn't even busy. Me and my peeps have been here multiple times. It's convenient and I like the decor. Food wise, it's pretty solid. A few things are way too salty for me (notably the tater tot casserole). The walleye sandwich is great, as are a number of other things. I like their weekend breakfast/brunch options. If you get a salad, get the dressing on the side or it'll come out completely drowned in it. When I sit at the bar, it's all good. When I sit at a table, and have a specific server (I think her name is Hoang?) everything is great. Otherwise it's hit and miss. Sometimes folks just don't come around much, which could just be an experience issue, but are pleasant enough. Wherever you sit, hope you don't get the stocky bald guy with glasses. He always seems irritated by your presence (Hello? Don't you want customers?) and has managed to piss me off a number of times by rude shit he's said - in fact, he's pretty much the reason we haven't been back there in about six months. All and all, go in, sit at the bar, get breakfast or the walleye sandwich and you're looking at a 3-4 star experience. read more

Food and drinks are decent. Food is a very limited menu with a lot of repetitive ingredients so not a lot of variation and some place I might go extremely occasionally. The decor is a fun, 80's basement vibe but the music was too loud, pop music that didn't fit the vibe and made it very difficult to talk. But the way they handle the 3% credit card fee feels very unethical. They bring the bill on a hand held credit card processing unit to your table only showing the total, not the itemized amount. There's no mention of a credit card fee and they've already passed the screen that shows it, plus they are pointing the credit card slot of the hand held towards you to insert your credit card, not really giving you any option to pay any other way. Then you get your receipt and see you were charged 3% for using your credit card even though they didn't give you any other option. And, yes, I could have demanded to see the itemized bill and then demanded that they remove the credit card charge and allow me to pay cash, but I don't like being a difficult, demanding customer and unethical restaurants like this one take advantage of the fact that most people don't want to be difficult, demanding customers. And, their prices are every bit as high as restaurants that don't charge the fee, so it's really just extra profit that they are gleaning through extremely questionable tactics. Plus, the 3% fee is added in before the tip is calculated, so you are tipping on the meal, the tax, and the credit card fee. Obviously, it's not about the 3%, it's just about the principle of the way they are sneaking in an undisclosed charge. read more

So to start off with, our server was wonderful and the food was also great! We went in last night after the Mariners game to grab a quick bite and one drink. There were 4 other tables of people dining. When it got toward the end, after I had already paid and left a 35% tip for our waiter, the bartender came out and started snatching people's drinks directly out of their hands yelling "we're closed!!! Get out!" The group of 3 sitting across from us was beyond livid and I don't blame them one bit! How does this have 4.5 stars? This is my first one star review that didn't involve me getting sick....folks it was that bad of service. The main bartender takes the prize for the rudest person I have experienced in service. He told a friend of mine to shut up once and then told her twice to speak up. But the big one comes at the end, when he put all my charges on their tab and ran the card without asking. She nicely said their was an error on the bill and needed it fixed and his reply was "it's your problem now". Stunned would be an understatement at this. Fireside is a wonderful new bar/restaurant addition to the whimsical downtown Burien neighborhood. The inside decor is a cozy fireside lodge setting complete with a robust fireplace, old school beer signage and plush seating. Oh, and, of course, there are animal busts above the fireplace. Just a great place to grab a drink or settle in for some very satisfying Americana comfort food. Happy Hour pricing goes from 4-6 every night and recommend the perfectly spicy Buffalo wings. The steak skewers over a bed of lemony kale is another satisfying choice. The one entre we tried was a salisbury steak with belly-warming mushroom gravy and the crispiest taters on the planet. The perfect food to go with their terrific assortment of beers on tap (Bale Breaker and local Logans! You betcha). The staff is friendly and accommodating. Parking is easy and free all around the location. I'd only change the music from a little to loud alt rock to something that more suits the vibe (at least for the Happy Hour crowd). Think Sinatra or Sarah Vaughn or Dinah Washington to set an even more chillaxing vibe around the glistening fire. That would make for the perfect escape. read more

But I do enjoy this version of one here in PNW. The vibe is warm (giant fireplaces will do that) with lots of wood and some taxidermy. Service was friendly and helpful, especially around describing the non-alcoholic "spirits", which I had not tried before. I came for the Pretzel Fondue, which consists of a soft baked pretzel, beer cheese sauce, mustard and kielbasa. I ordered a Wedge Salad to balance things out (can this even be called a salad really?). Everything was good in an elevated bar food kind of way. Found this place recently and I must say that it's a great cozy spot. I'm not expert on Midwest cuisine but there's some unique and tasty dishes here. They have a great IPA from a local brewery too. When they first opened they had some really unique and delicious things on the menu, but the last two times I have gone, I have left disappointed. I was very disappointed, I've been to this restaurant before and enjoyed my meal however, I ordered the Salisbury steak to go with a baked potato and salad. When I got to my destination to eat, the baked potato was bare and there was two Salsberry steaks in the container. The salad was separate but was given no napkins or cutlery so I had to swing by the dollar store to get some plasticware, which I'm grateful was super close. I gave 2 stars as the salad and patties were good but potato was dry. Paid $27 for this meal and I'm not satisfied with the missing items and the bland potato.
