We stayed at the resort as part of our anniversary, and had our anniversary dinner here, which was fantastic. The patio is really special, overlooking the marina. A great place to catch the sunset. Staff was very nice and did a great job. Our server was super sweet, and the sommelier was amazing. We brought our own bottle of wine, which had a really stubborn old cork that broke. He masterfully saved the bottle, getting the cork out. He also inspected the wine to make sure it would be good. And most importantly, our food was fantastic. Our fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the sides great too. It's cool that most of the ingredients are sourced locally or at least from the Puget Sound area. They provide a map at the entrance showing where items come from. Giving 4-stars because our brunch experience the following morning wasn't as great. Service was fine, but a bit less friendly. And the food items - though cooked well - were pretty simple and not really worth the price. So definitely would return for dinner, but would probably skip breakfast/brunch unless the menu got an upgrade. read more

We showed up really early for our reservation but they were able to accommodate us. We resereved an outdoor table with a note saying we would prefer indoor if available at the time of reservation (never know with Covid) and even though we showed up early we got a table indoors. The food was really good and came out in a timely manner and the bread was warm and came with Olive...im gonna butcher this...tapenade. The were two small downsides. One was sometimes there was no wait staff to be seen so there was an instance where I wanted more bread but couldnt get any because no staff came by and then my wife was done with her dinner and it was too late at that point. The other was that i could taste the detergent or sanitizer or some cleaning product. It could have been on my clam bowl or silverware but I think it was actually my water glass. And it was kinda gross. But this is our second time coming and it wont be our last. The food, noise level, and view are just so great. read more

We ordered cocktails along with 2 starters a charcuterie plate and foraged mushrooms in a cream sauce. The charcuterie plate was small for the price of $26. Items on the board were good but small portion except the bread which was a bland baguette. The foraged mushrooms was delicious but was served with the same bland baguette. As my main coarse I ordered a flat iron steak with smashed potato's and roasted turnips accompanied by a chimichurri sauce. My partner ordered the Judori Chicken. Both main dishes were good but didn't wow us. I'd like to give 4-5 star but they need to work a bit on execution of dishes. read more

A place that could be amazing with a little more effort. With limited food options in the area, you almost have to eat here when visiting. We tried both dinner and breakfast: For dinner- we ordered a bottle of champagne. Good options and not terribly expensive ($75). My hubby ordered the hamburger, which we had to send back it was too salty and burnt - almost jokingly so. Instead tried the teres major with turnips and pork tenderloin. Both were very over salted. Gluten free bread options were available and they leave a gurgle pot of water at your table to pour, which is clever. Service was pretty slow, dinner was over 2 hours and it wasn't even busy. For breakfast- I would recommend skipping here. We got our meal really quickly and from the beginning it looked pretty tasty. However, everything was really greasy. I managed to suffer down the eggs, but the bacon and crispy hash browns were inedible mush of grease. Definitely not crispy. And while we were almost the only patrons for breakfast, we waited very long time to get our check. Very expensive for a few scrambled eggs. The server didn't seem to mind or ask why we didn't eat our food. Thinking back, we should have sent back and not paid for this. read more

The bartender was amazing. The server was sweet but a little too much. The food is priced what you think it should be priced but the quality and amount of food was soooo less than. My baked potato was almost naked and cold. My broccoli was tasteless except for the singe of the toast. My meat because I ordered medium rare was also cold. My entire dish felt as though it could have been kept in a fridge. I can't believe the price for the meat we'll see 40 some odd dollars. Not at al worth it. I ordered a salad as well. My salad's dressing had me coughing with the amount of dressing to lettuce ratio. I wasn't the only one at the person to order this particular salad and we both felt the effects. The beef bourguinon left a lot to the imagination as well. What has happened to quality and price matching? So disappointment. Will it return for that quality. read more

Had a decent lunch here. Ordered the steak frites which was three small slices of flank steak, skinny frozen fries and a garden salad with barely a little olive oil drizzled on it. The steak was cooked as requested, and my Mo who ordered the same said hers was good as well. We both shared a cup of clam chowder which was good. Free sourdough bread was also tasty. The dad ordered fish and chips and really liked his fish. Mo got their flourless chocolate cake and I got their turtle pie for dessert. The cake is a small piece but dense with hazelnuts. The pie is not pie at all but ice cream covered in caramel and chocolate sauce on a chocolate crumb crust and toasted pecans. It was divine. They have a fireplace and the restaurant offers patio seating next to the harbor. We could see the boats from our table inside next to the fireplace. Jonathan was our waiter/server and Anthony was the bartender. Mo ordered a grapefruit vodka cocktail and Anthony came by later towards the end of our meal, giving her the rest of what was in the shaker for free vs. pouring it down the drain. Jonathan was attentive and when he overheard us talking about a negative experience at another restaurant he was quick to swoop in and make sure we were OK and not talking about Fireside. This small restaurant at the Resort at Pt Ludlow is just fabulous. Smaller menu but the offerings are very good and this is a farm to table experience and well worth it. We tried the creamy mushroom appetizer which was delicious. My husband had their burger while I tried the pork chop dinner. The flavors and quality of both was evident. People might say it's a bit pricey, but the food and skill level of the chef/kitchen staff is there to make it worthwhile. read more

We moved to Port Ludlow and this is the only game in town. This time around we started going there for dinner when we could get in. Now you have to have a reservation up to two weeks in advance and if you made it for two, don't think about adding a third person. It was not possible. The bar is closed, so don't even think about just going there for a drink. We ate there two to three times a week, even having their special "Tuesday Night Chef's Choice Pairing Dinner" several times. The food is consistently good, but getting in to enjoy the food, just sucks. Add staff. Add more seating in other rooms you are not using. What happened to the cooking classes? Our waitress was always spot on, but train the hostesses to have a little more personality and a lot more tack. My new husband said, as we were driving to the ferry, well I won't miss the Fireside Restaurant! Good food with an inappropriate attitude. We stayed there a few times. Very delicious Sunday brunch. They made the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. The veggie scramble with shrimp also had amazing flavor. We spent 3 nights here with our 2 dogs. So we couldn't eat in the restaurant. We ordered what they call"take out" from the restaurant inside the hotel. The menu is limited, but the food was good. Expensive though. The burger and a mediocre chicken marsala, by themselves, was $65.00. My problem here is that when calling the first night, the young lady taking the order had considerable difficulty answering my questions, like what salad dressing was available. Then she said they'd be ready to be picked up and they'd call the room when I should come down. She did call, but it was to tell me that one of the salads that I ordered was not available. Hence asking the questions about salads. After I cleared up the salad order, she said it would be ready shortly. So I waited to get a call. And waited. So I just went down. The order was ready, and just sitting there. They put it in plastic bags, like Chinese take out. The third and last night my wife ordered. The restaurant expected her to carry this huge tray up to our room. So, if you can't eat in the restaurant, don't expect room service. Only the prices of room service. read more

This restaurant exemplified all my issues with yelp. We almost opted not to come here because of so many unpleasant reviews, and after deciding to ignore those and stick with our plan, we were rewarded with both an amazing dinner and brunch. The salmon was as fresh and delicious as it gets, and we were impressed by everything from the wine selection to the dessert. I don't know who would call these portions small, but I recommend they try the black bear diner next time if they honestly are going to give this amazing place a one star for that comment. I'm a local and have eaten here more times than I can count. I have to admit that each time it gets worse. Over priced, hit-and-miss and service frequently slow. Last night was the worst so far. We came in just before 9 and we're barely greeted by Chris who seemed to be both host and bartender. He made it abundantly clear I'm a terse tone that they didn't serve food after 9 and the kitchen was busy in clean up mode. We asked if we could grab a drink and get a dessert to go. He grudgingly said yes. Then we tried to order a wine and a beer. He actually tries to tell me that they never carried the wine by the glass o have ordered for years and goes on to say, "well we don't really sell much wine by the glass; mostly we sell bottles." He pours the only Chardonnay he says they have and short-pours it because it was the end of the bottle and probably didn't want to open another one. We also had to ask THREE times if he would wipe the counter where my husband was sitting. The third time he simply hands my husband a napkin. Guess this is self-serve. Keep in mind, we were the only ones at the bar and practically the only ones in the restaurant The final straw was that he brought the dessert out to us well before we were ready to go. People, it's a Turtle Pie based on ice cream. It was pretty much melted before we hit home! All in all very disappointing experience, and the Fireside is training us to expect to be disappointed. It's only because it's one of only two places in town that it continues to exist. Oh and our bill for one glass of crappy wine, one beer and a melted dessert: $28+ before tip. Possibly the worst meal I have ever had. Service was poor. Took a long time to be seated despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Server rarely came by to check on the table. The restaurant appeared to be adequately staffed. I ordered the eggs Benedict which was a advertised as having Bacon, took a while to find the few crumbles that were hidden in the spinach. The potatoes received were diced very small and were extremely greasy. Wanted ketchup, but the server never came by to check on our meals. One of the other diners had the same expectation and was equally disappointed on this menu item. My wife had the vegetable scrambled which was supposed to include a fruit salad. The fruit salad consisted of a small slice of orange. Another person from our party, ordered the ham steak. She felt that she received raw ham. Which she did not bother to eat. When pointed out to to the server, he said "no way". When he looked at the meat he literally only said hmmm. This should have been backed out of our check, but it remained on our tab. Of the 4 in our party, each one of us felt that our meals were of question quality. In the end, we all felt that the meal was greatly overpriced. I did leave an adequate tip, despite the poor service and quality. read more

I reserved a table at Fireside for my wife's 34th Birthday; we were joined by my in-laws and two young-ish children. The reservation process was easy and the staff seemed to be eager to make the dining experience a special event. The location is stunning- overlooking the Port Ludlow bay, harbor with the majestic Olympic mountain range in the background. Upon arrival, the restaurant was clean and staff was amenable to changing the location of our table upon the behest of my wife. She wanted to sit outside because the weather was stunning. The menu is paltry in options, partially owing to what we thought was a high quality in product. What wasn't paltry was the price of the food. $52 for king salmon, $14-16 for a spinach salad and $22 for a burger. Again, we would have gladly paid this price if we felt the quality of the food was worth it. However, we were greatly disappointed in not only the quality and flavor of the food, but also the quantity. The salmon was bland and the lentil over-cooked; salads were ordinary with few fresh vegetables (no dressing was given with my order). Unfortunately we will not be returning. read more

I just had the most extraordinary experience at Fireside. My daughter and I decided to get lunch on an afternoon when a lot of places were already closed. I have a lot of food allergies and both of us are vegetarian which adds a layer of complexity. We checked the menu on Yelp, drove to Fireside and were impressed the minute we walked in. My daughter did not have her vaccination card with her, unfortunately, but the staff were so helpful and caring. We couldn't eat inside but they offered the covered outdoor deck seating, with heaters and a clear plastic screen to keep out the rain. It was comfortable and had a pleasant view of the marina. My daughter ordered a Caesar salad but I wanted something warm to eat. I asked about a dish but it was made with chicken stock. The server and I then discussed my diet, and she decided to talk to the chef and see what he could do. Wow did he ever deliver! A fabulous dish with grilled veggies, chanterelle mushrooms and other goodies elegantly displayed. I love it when a chef can make magic on the spur of the moment! Had one miserable experience there. Ordered a fresh salad. There was more protein in it than I asked for.... Several little slugs or worms began inching their way from the veggies out to the edges of the plate. My daughter's salad had the same. Informed waiter. Poor young man was very embarrassed! They didn't charge us for the salads, but ever since that strange experience, I have been hesitant to eat anything there that is not cooked!
