We bought 4 new tires through TireRack.com and had Firestone on Wabash install them. One of the tires had a slow leak from the start and we had to have it filled 3 times in 4 weeks. We took it back to Firestone and instead of apologizing for their poor installation they tried to blame the slow leak on Jiffy Lube and asked if we had our tires rotated lately. The tires are brand new and have less than a thousand miles on them; of course we didn't have them rotated. Then to top it off, they tried to sell us a totally unnecessary brake flush service!!!! They are thieves!!!!! STAY AWAY, STAY FAR AWAY!!!! read more

My front two tires were in pretty bad shape, so I shopped around several places in the near loop area. I've tried out Pepboys and NTBs in the past, but since this place was located so close to where I currently lived, I thought I'd give them a try. The service representatives (Kenneth & James) were both very professional and courteous, and even let me step my dog inside the lobby to drop off my keys! The oil change was also much cheaper than what I've seen in both Jiffy Lube & Oil Exchange, so I decided to have them do that too. For a while after this incident I was hoping I could write an improved rating and update. Right after posting my original review, the owner called and was very apologetic and understanding of why I was so upset with what happened (left my truck by appointment all day, and they never performed the services), and offered a discount if I came back. I was on the way to the Jeep Dealer in Naperville at the time which is where I normally get my truck serviced (always great service, maybe a bit expensive but worth it), and I declined his offer but he left it open-ended which was nice. When I got to the dealer I asked them to do a full diagnosis of the issues again (my truck had a coolant leak) and what they found was that my truck needed something VERY different than what Firestone recommended. Firestone recommended a thermostat replacement, radiator hose replacement, and full coolant and cooling system flush to resolve the leaking coolant issue. The dealer's service department found that the thermostat was just fine and in great shape, but that the radiator ITSELF, as well as the radiator hoses needed to be replaced, with a cooling flush after replacement. Here's my even BIGGER problem with Firestone now - If I'd had the Firestone recommended work done, I would STILL have a problem that would eventually cause serious damage or trigger the low coolant sensors relatively soon after having all that work done. That is REALLY bad to me as a consumer - if you can't diagnose the issue properly I can't take my vehicle to you. On the other hand I'm grateful that Firestone messed up and didn't end up servicing my truck, otherwise I'd be driving around with the same (if not worse) problem getting ready to happen again. Thank heavens I bit the bullet and took my Jeep to the dealer where it was properly diagnosed and fixed, and as agreed/scheduled. Firestone - both the owner and Corporate - really needs to evaluate the performance of both the front- and back-of-the house employees and take action accordingly. Scheduling a service appointment, having the vehicle all day, and not servicing the vehicle is a serious miss of the guys in the front office. Misdiagnosing a mechanical issue to the peril of the customers is a critical miss of the mechanics, and that's what gets businesses in hot trouble and shut down quickly in this litigious society. How could I ever possibly trust Firestone to do anything to my vehicle - even tires - after these shenanigans? If this had happened in the middle of the summer instead of the dead of winter, I might not have even made it out to Naperville with my truck in the condition it was in. It's unfortunate that I have to say that I won't be going back to a Firestone - any Firestone again, but I just can't risk it. read more

Don't know what these guys are doing ... When i turned my car in to have an inspection, the front person told me to wait for hours. I understand they need time to check for the problem, but when im waiting, two elderly customers came in to pick up their car, and all their staffs left the front waiting area and gathered at the garage. It seems like they were playing some sort of game, they're all laughing and u can tell their happiness. But the front area were completely out of their people, no service, no one care about the customers. The two madam even questioned:" when should i get my car?" Later on the other customer coming and waited about 2 minutes, they these guys dismissed and get back to work... I've been to two other firestone locations and they r all excellent customer service people and technicians, and this is the worst team i ever seen!!! Went in for an oil change 2 the $20 semi synthetic promo they were running. Had made an appt for 7pm, showed up at 6:40ish, and was out the door at 7:30ish. No haggling, no hassles, real painless. Individual location makes a big difference. I had a scheduled appointment and my car was in the service bay almost as soon as I arrived. Without hassle or up sell I was out the door after having my tire replaced under the road hazard insurance purchased with my new set five months earlier. This was a positive experience. I wish I had read the reviews prior to bringing my vehicle here. After paying $800 plus for tires, the worker who moved my vehicle damaged it. I didn't see the damage until later and now they are claiming I don't have a claim. There is nothing in writing that says claims need to be filed within a certain time frame. I'm waiting to hear from the claims department but in the meantime I'm going to contact Lisa Madigan's office. These shoddy business practices have to cease! Took care of a flat tire I had with only a small hiccup

I've gone here many times mostly out of convenience to where I live at. So far my car: 1. has sat there all day without having changed the oil. They essentially lost the request/ forgot about my car. The manager did rectify that with a discounted oil change. 2. They forgot my sticker after an oil change so I am left guessing at my next one. 3. They always tell me repairs I need that other places aren't finding. Over all, I am satisfied 50% of the time, but the last straw was when I needed my taillight cover replaced. I got an estimate back in Feb. I tried explaining this while making an appt for an AC fix. But the guy talked over me saying they would need to look at my car first. I explained they already did, and could he please order the part. I go in for my appt. Of course, no part. no record of the conversation. I get my AC fixed. I try to make my appt to fix the tail light then when I am in the store picking up my car. The guy says the manager who orders parts is not in, call next week. I call to make the appt today. They tell me I need to come in a sign a paper and give a deposit. REALLY? How many times do I need to ask for a repair? How many times do I need to come in for this repair?? Needless to say I will be taking my car elsewhere. Everyone is always in such a hurry, no one listens, and the customer service suffers. read more

I usually go on yelp religiously before even thinking about pulling into a garage. That being said finding this Firestone auto care shop was really a happy accident. We desperately needed a new battery for our car and this was just the closest place to our house. In the end all I have to say is that this shop is simply wonderful. First of all, they are the only shop open till 10pm M-F. Secondly the customer service was absolutely amazing. James was very friendly and professional and didn't try to sell me any services I didn't need. He was very knowledgable and accommodating. If I was the boss I'd give James a raise, pronto. The only reason I'm writing this review is because James provided such fantastic customer service. Way to go. Firestone should be proud to have him on their staff. read more

My daughters car was there for over 6 hours and no work was done. The person who took the car in should have verified all information regarding the vehicle but didn't. She left the car for what should have been a 3 hour service. Still no call regarding the car. After calling numerous times and being on hold for 20 minutes after continuous busy signals you can finally got through. Brandon, the Manager does not run a good service department. No car should sit there all day without being serviced or a phone call as to why it wasn't serviced. Firestone doesn't deserve my business because they don't appreciate their customers. read more

Never take your car here! I made an appointment for an oil change and when I showed up, they told me it would take them 3 hours to finish the job. 3 hours for an oil change sounded crazy to me, especially since id made an appointment in advance, but I was close to home so I figured I could just walk home to wait. After they had my car for 2 hours, they called to tell me they couldn't get the cap off the oil and in order for them to continue, I had to authorize them to fix the cap, which was going to break if they took it off - a $400 job. So, not only did an oil change turn into a $400 repair, but they couldn't do it for 2 days to order parts and id be without a car. Skeptical, because I'd never had a problem in the past, I declined and went to pick up my car. The next day, I took the car to Jiffy Lube on North and they changed my oil in 10 minutes. I asked the mechanic if they had any issues getting the cap off and he said not at all, that it was totally fine. Not only were they super nice at Jiffy Lube, but they were quick and also vacuumed and washed the windows. To sum it up, as expected, they totally lied to my face at Firestone and tried to rip me off. I recommend you let a 6 year old fix your car before you take it to this Firestone! read more

We blew out a tire on the way into Chicago from Wisconsin and needed rapid turnaround on acquiring an unusually-sized replacement tire at a reasonable cost in the downtown area near to our hotel over a weekend. The hours at this Firestone were fantastic - open both Saturday and Sunday with an early open on both mornings - and the staff were friendly and efficient. They answered questions, were clear on quotes, provided updates on the progress of our repair, and completed all of the work ahead of schedule and at the estimated cost. Labor rates and tire prices were reasonable, especially given the location. Frankly, I was really impressed. My thanks to you, Bill Scheffel, and your team for the repairs and for helping us salvage a weekend in Chicago that seemed to destined for calamity! read more

I give this Firestone 5 stars! I was in need of a car battery, my car battery was run down and couldn't be jump started because I mistakenly left my car hazards on. I called Firestone and was able to bring my vehicle in right away. Bill checked my battery and let me know that my battery was actually able to hold a charge, but given the year of my vehicle and the fact that it wouldn't sustain a jump start, they recommend a new battery, but it wasn't a crucial purchase at the moment. Just being a woman and in my car owning experience I can appreciate when a business isn't trying milk every dime from a person. Had a flat tire that needed to be plugged and they quoted me $40. $15 at PepBoys but this place was right around the corner so decided to save myself the aggravation. Got a same day appointment and took the car in. They called me 30 minutes later to inform me that the tire couldn't be repaired and the only tire they had would be $199 and it was rated at 45,000 miles. Better quality tire (brand and 75k mile rating) at PepBoys was $165 so no thanks. Took the car to PepBoys 20 minutes away on Elston only to find that Firestone didn't put the tire/wheel back in the trunk. Argh. Spent the next hour driving back and forth to retrieve. The people I encountered were all professional and helpful but the prices are not competitive. I won't be back. read more

I have had a string of bad luck and had 3 flat tires/leaks within 3 weeks. The first time I took it here with my flat I dealt with Charles and he was fantastic. Got me in and out fast and there was no BS. The 2nd and 3rd time I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with Ray. He took forever. I needed my plugged spare just but back on the rear of my Jeep... guess I should have done it myself because this guy starts taking off tires that were fine. He also talked to me like I was an idiot and told me my fog light was out and it would be $80 to replace... I declined the service... went home, both fog lights were fine. I'd go back because it's so close to my house... but I hope I never have to deal with Ray again. read more

I wish I had read the yelp reviews before I kept my car there for work. I had a two tire blowout on LSD and had to be towed off the road. The city guy said the place was close so I had it taken there. My rims were bad and I called my dealer about towing the care there, but I found out that the place firestone allegedly took their rims was the same as my dealer so I let the work be done. I was also going to buy new tires so it was all going to be good Well, I knew I had to wait over the weekend, but each day the next week I called, I was told by a different person each day as my original person was off, that they were still working on it but it would be the next day. OK. On Wed I told them not to rush, I wanted a good job done, so when I called Thursday in the morning the rims still weren't in. I was assured they'd be back that day, no mention that the job had been really hard, and I got a call later in the day that the rims were back, the tires were on, and I was good to go. It gets better. When I got there a manager(I think that was John-who I spoke with on the phone again later that night with these complaints) came to talk with me as they told me the rims weren't "perfect" . Guillermo-the man who was organizing the repair) had already told me that they couldn't get the rims perfect, that they might be a little "oval" but they were able to get the tires back on and all I would feel was a little vibration in the back of the car where they put the wheels back on. When I asked why they didn't call me with this news before they did any work there was no answer. There was a comment from John about how it would have taken 4 days to get brand new wheels and would have been very expensive and I responded I figured that and that would have been OK if I had known about it. So, there was no communication during the week about what was really going on/ Then they made a judgement about the rims without calling me and it was OK for my rims to "not be quite round" and still drive on the car without my knowledge---which in my mind is unauthorized work. So I don't know if they are stupid, or crooked. Can't quite make up my mind. Then I go to leave and my battery is down and the car won't start. Never been down in it's life. Hmmmmmm. When I left the car there there were a number of high end cars(mine's middle) and it looked like it was a neighborhood place that people brought their cars to. I would not recommend this place to anyone for the reasons above. They can't communicate, and it didn't even cross their minds that I might not want a tire put on a wheel that "was oval", in Guillermo's words.(and I had a friend with me who can corroborate all of this). I also made Guillermo put it in writing, which he did. So they got their tire sale, they got the labor for putting on the tires, and I went directly from there to my dealer to get this all sorted out. The dealer will be checking with the rim place to see if the rims were actually sent where they told me as my dealer has not heard of that company working the way I was told they did. read more

Considering it included an inspection, it was pretty quick (20 min). They found a couple issues but there was zero pressure to have them resolved. We had an appointment for 10:00 to do an alignment check and get an oil change. The front desk person told us the car would be ready in a couple of hours. After walking around the South Loop for a bit, we returned at 12:30 and were told that nothing had been done on our car and that it wouldn't be ready until 2:30/3:00 before it would be done. We spent 5 hours walking in the cold around Chicago because the waiting room was not set up to be COVID safe and employees were not wearing their masks. It is unacceptable that an alignment check and oil change take 5 hours to complete. He also did not ask what type of oil we wanted for our oil change and just gave us the most expensive one. And after 5 hours of waiting, he had the audacity to try and up sale us to get more work done. We will never go back have already been telling people not to go here. This is ridiculous and not how you run a business. read more

I know this place had a lot of bad reviews, but I have to give them a thumbs up. My truck popped up with a bad leak in the front left tire. On a Sunday. 80 miles from home. After I ran a half marathon. They first said they were completely full and it would be 6+ hours before they'd get to me - if at all. But they got my truck in faster and though it wasn't cheap, I was on the road in about 2 1/2 hours. I am so so so grateful to them for this. read more

This place is a complete rip off. The staff is friendly enough, but I don't care as much about that as I do how astronomical the prices are. They are charging dealership rates without the technical knowledge and expertise a dealership has. I couldn't believe some of the quotes that I got from them for simple things like batteries and a coolant flush. I've also learned (and this is my opinion) Firestones are only good for fluid changes, brakes and tires. If you are in the South Loop there are MUCH better places to take your car for service with reasonable prices, see my other reviews for details about that. read more

Should have read the yelp reviews for this place before bringing my car in. Initially brought my car in for a "complete vehicle inspection" and for some brake work. As expected, they found lots of things that needed to be tuned up. Paid over $1400 for the brake stuff and the recommended fluid refills, air filter changes, wiper changes, etc. Felt that was pretty pricey for what they wanted to do but did not have the time to shop around for a better deal. About one month later, I brought car in because check engine light was on. I brought it back to firestone and asked them to look at it. They said they would have to charge me $99 for an engine diagnostic test. When I reminded them that they did a "complete vehicle inspection" one month ago, they said that their "complete" vehicle inspection does not include the engine. Talk about false advertising...perhaps they should call it a partial vehicle inspection to be more truthful. I decided to bring my car back to the Lexus dealer. They did an inspection of the engine and changed a rear light bulb for only $79. So the Lexus dealership did more work for at least $20 less than this Firestone. When service costs more at a Firestone than at a Lexus dealership, you know these guys are overcharging. Never again will I go to a Firestone read more

BEWARE! Please do not bring your car here, especially if you are a woman. They clearly looked my issue as a money grab and did not remedy the issue. They stated I needed a catalytic converter. It cost over $2K to be replaced. I have an Audi and asked were they using after-market parts and was told by Joe specifically that they did not use after-market parts. Had to wait upwards of one week because they needed their "master mechanic" to work on this issue. Got it repaired and drove off. Came back less than 2 weeks later because the catalytic converter went out. They said it was the other one. SERIOUSLY? Then replaced the other one. Another $1K. When I inquired about the check engine light, stated that I needed to pay to get that check because that was different. After I reminded them of the reason I brought it in, they performed the diagnostic testing -- GUESS WHAT...it said I needed a new catalytic converter. SERIOUSLY? They were like this is a mistake. Said it was the oxygen sensors. I said on -- paid another $300 to get it replaced. GUESS WHAT? The light still did not go out. TWO DAYS later car stopped running altogether, had it towed to an authorized Audi repair shop and that's when things got interesting. Their mechnic let me know that I needed an oxygen sensor. I stated I just got it replaced. He said no you didn't. And asked why I decided to use after-market parts on the car? I said I did not. He stated that the parts were all after-market. Had to pay another $500 to fix the problem. When I called to speak with the management, spoke with John and Joe they said they were getting back with me and I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN! Do not take your car there. They were incapability of managing car issues beyond tire repairs and oil changes. read more

It never ceases to amaze how clueless most auto/mechanic shops STILL are these days when it comes to how they treat female customers. They STILL talk down to us and try to up sell us on parts/services our vehicles don't need. I realize they do this to men too but I have to believe the way I was spoken to at this Firestone would not have happened if a) I was male and/or b) I had a male with me. I took my car in to have my tires checked (I had recently had my oil changed at another shop and they mentioned my tires were pretty bald). Never one to go with the first/only one opinion, I thought I'd take my car here to see what they said. The person I spoke with on the phone was very pleasant, said I could come in for a n/c inspection. When I arrived the salesperson asked me what was wrong with my tires. I've always been advised to never mention a specific problem (unless it's something specific like a puncture) because that's feeding them and they'll likely come back with "yeah, you need to get that fixed" (regardless of whether it's an actual issue or not). Anyway, I told him I just wanted to make sure they are in good condition and that there's no balling (I accidentally said balling instead of balding). As opposed to being customer oriented and saying "oh you mean balding?" he proceeds to say "'balling? what's balling? never heard of that..." and chuckled. Rude!! He then tells me I can pull my car up to the bay and someone would take a look at it. When I come back in from pulling it up he was in the garage window talking to one of the mechanics and hadn't realized I was back in the showroom. I stood behind him and overheard him say 'I don't know what she wants, I guess just check them, she said they might be balling but I don't know what's she's talking about...'. The mechanic then signaled to him that I was behind him and he turned around and tried to clean things up. Seriously?! Could you be more insensitive and unprofessional?? After they checked my car he then proceeds to tell me their condition in technical terms -- again, I think he did this on purpose because he knew I didn't know what he was talking about (what lay person would??). I just said thanks and left with a note to self to never return to this location! SO disrespectful! read more

Until today, I have not had a single complaint to make about this shop. My vehicle is usually ready ahead of time if not exactly when they promised. I recently brought my car in to have it checked out due to issues I was having. I was informed I needed a new battery, which is exactly what I expected. The battery is very expensive for a Toyota Camry Hybrid but the price quoted was reasonable. I was informed they would have to order it since it wasn't something they kept on-hand which, again, is reasonable since it isn't something they often need. I was informed yesterday that my vehicle would be ready by 11 AM "at the latest", so I checked my schedule and decided to leave the car there as I had no appointments this morning. It is now 11:30 AM and I just called to check on the status of my vehicle. I was informed that the battery would be there at 12 PM today (if the snow doesn't slow it down) and that the car would ready by 2 PM. I was never informed that the time would be later than I was quoted and, when I voiced my frustration and how this impacts me with respect to work, the person who answered the phone simply said "I'm sorry about the confusion," as though I shared some responsibility in a simple miscommunication. It is not miscommunication when one is assured that something is a fact only to find that the opposite is true. Basic customer service would dictate that some compensation be made but it required me sitting silently on the phone for nearly 20 seconds for the person to say, "I'll see if I can contact the dealer and get it here earlier." If no other compensation is made for my loss of work today (I am a contracted employee and bill for the time worked), I will be taking my business elsewhere. I am particularly upset by this as I have read bad reviews of this location and disagreed with them whole-heartedly. I am beginning to think many people were correct in their reviews of this location. I hope I am proven wrong. I will update my review based on how this error is handled today. read more

I am very unhappy with the service I received. I purchased a set of tires for 2 vehicles from a Firestone Complete Auto Care in Alabama. While driving to work I drove over a nail. I brought my car in to be fixed at 12:00 noon and was told it would take 8 hours before they could fix my tire. After waiting an hour the salesperson Juan advised that he inspected my tires and could not repair the tire. Just awful service here at this one particular Firestone. read more
