One line review - I think its alright ! Called them on Saturday evening for car not starting and possible battery issues. It was 6:20 in the evening, Maurice picked up the call and asked to bring it on Sunday morning as they will close in 40 mins. He said they don't have appointment slots available but will take me as a walkin. On Sunday I reached early and met Maurice. He hooked me up with Battery, Alternator inspection package for $24.99. He said it will be noon before he can get folks working on it. Later I guess he found the slot so got my car in the garage much sooner.. He came back and told that it will be a good idea to replace the battery and get the anti corrosion package. Battery replacement was in my mind already.. so I agreed... I have a high travelling job and don't have time to get into this hassle of jump starts and repairs.. Total bill is $25 for Inspection, $12 for Anti corrosion , $123 for battery... Including taxes it was approx $177. I liked the service because.. 1. I was a walk in and still got serviced quite fast, I was in and out within 1.15 Hrs 2. Workmanship appeared good 3. Place was clean, near to my place and appeared to be better than Jiffy lube in Chinatown where I usually go for oil change. 4. They are open till 7:00 PM on Saturday. Thing which I didn't like.. 1. I think they could have waived away $25 inspection charge. I even with not much automotive background and experience could tell that it was battery corrosion with so much of residue at terminals... you don't need a package to tell that so I believe I paid $25 extra. Overall its fine, I believe everybody tries to make few extra bucks... as long as its not a complete rip off and service holds good over a period of time.. Not particularly crazy about this place. I had some work done and they tried to rip me off. I forcefully disputed the quotes they were giving me as BS. Having come from a family of mechanics, you can't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining. After going back and forth with them over what was needed and the charges involved, I finally told the young fella, "listen, what store number is this"? He jumped back and reluctantly gave me the number. Sensing I wasn't an airhead, the conversation took a more pleasant tone. The bill arrived and I was not charged for all the crap they were trying to fleece me for. When you go here, do not let them hose you in the rear, stand your ground. And one other thing, tell them you only want items fixed that you came in for, this will stop them from making you feel guilty about all the things they "find" wrong with your vehicle. Lastly, with all the in-and-out oil places around, it's terrible to have to wait 2 or more hours just to get an oil change at this place. read more

As others have noted, this place is pretty shady. They charge WAY more than they should (in my case 2.5x the cost at any auto parts store) for parts. I would not go back here under any circumstances. read more

I have consistently had unpleasant and inconvenient experiences here. While staff are nice and respectful they are not timely. I bought 4 new tires 2 months ago from this place for $700. I made an appointment because I had a slow leak. Waited 3 hours after my appointment time for them to take my car back. I had a nail in my tire and even though they were under warranty and not even 90days old, I had to buy a new tire for $50. The worst part was that the tire I needed was out of stock. So I sat in there waiting room for 3 hours just to have to go home without a car because they needed to order the tire. I was assured the job would be done the following day. I called several times to follow up. They said the tire arrived but they were too busy and I would have to wait. It takes 20mins to change a tire but this entire transaction took over 24 hours. I talked to two manager and nothing was done. If you actually need your car or value punctuality then this is NOT the place for you. read more

I brought a friend to buy a tire at Firestone. The guy quoted us a price for a new tire etc. would cost x amount of dollars. I was born at night, but not last night, It was too high, so we went to another FIRESTONE, and got it $10 cheaper. One bad mechanic spoils the whole bunch. read more

My wife and I went here for a brake change and it was a disaster. We should have read the reviews below. First they forgot to call to update us on what they were gonna do, when they proceeded to not call, we called them and it seemed like they didn't even know the car was there. They told us they would have the tire fixed by 5pm, we went at 6pm and they had forgotten to do anything with the tire and we had to wait for them to finish the work. I was driving south on Lake Shore Drive when I hit a pothole and blew out the tire on the front driver's side. I took the car straight to this Firestone. They diagnosed that the tire was beyond repair (tear in the outer wall) and that I needed a new one. Fair enough. However, when they installed the new tire, they broke the tire pressure sensor (apparently, they didn't use the correct tools), which was why the warning light came on every month until I took the car to the dealer to see what was going on. Ugh. This kind of damage really shouldn't happen because (1) these technicians are presumably trained/certified, (2) TPSs aren't rare these days, and (3) it's not like my car is an exotic brand that auto mechanics rarely come across. read more

Had a flat replaced. It took about 1.5 hours. They did a nice job but did not put my spare back. Thought that stunk!

I took my car here because my tire was severely deflated and as I couldn't get the tire off, even though I undid all the lug nuts and jacked it up and all that...it still wouldn't come off...so I drove to a gas station, filled the tire with air and too it there the next morning on my way to work. Their hours are very convenient, 7 - 7. They pulled off my tire, checked it out and informed me that there really wasn't an issue with the tire, evidently I hit a pothole and it knocked the tire off the rim a bit and caused a leak. So they ground down the rim and put it all back together, and no further issues. All that work was done in time as promised and I got to work relatively on time. So, to people who complain that this place is shady, I don't think a place that tells you that you don't have a tire issue, when they could easily sell you a new tire, I mean, what the hell did I know? Is shady. I think most of the complaints come from people who have to spend money to repair their car...that puts anybody in a bad mood. I must say though that the whole deal did cost me 40.00 which is alot higher than this hole in the wall tire repair place I used to go to in California...but I don't know where one of those is around here. read more

I'll start by saying I have gone to Firestone for 2 years now. Only for routine oil changes and one time I changed all four tires. Great service never had an issue. Then I went in on Jan 31st and they have lost me as a customer forever. I went in hoping for a tune up as I am taking a road trip to the west coast. I let them know about the road trip so they would know to check everything. Suddenly I get a call from Brandon who says I have a leak in my rack and pinion. A $1600 job. I was shocked. On a 2011? With only 70k miles? Sounds as ridiculous as possible. Went and picked up my car immediately and took it to the dealer. No issues at allll. They suggested that the mechanic at Firestone emptied the power steering fluid thinking I wouldn't know the difference. Can't say for sure but the dishonesty is appalling. Saved myself 1600$ for getting a second opinion. Will never return to Firestone again. read more

Took my car in for a tire swap from winter wheels to summer wheels and an alignment. The summer wheels were already mounted they just need to switch them. I told them to use the new wheel locks and not the old ones. It took them 3hrs to complete. When I got to my car they still used the old wheel locks. I went back to tell them, they printed out a new work order and said I would have to wait all over again even though they didn't listen from the start. read more

Utter lack of customer service and borderline disrespectful. I went in to have a vehicle inspection as required by Uber and Lyft. The guy at the counter seemed pleasant enough when he handed my sheet for Uber. I asked him to sign off for my Lyft sheet and his demeanor instantly changed. He, rather abruptly, told me he won't sign off on it, saying the company has a contract with Uber and blabbering something about it being a "liability." When I said that all Lyft is asking for is a mechanic's signature on the checklist, almost identical to Uber's checklist, he again refused. When I inquired further and again abruptly and extremely curtly cut me off. Now I was ticked. A moment later he must have of thought about something and tried to tell me something regarding the "corporate office" but I was so pissed by his tone and they way he kept cutting me off that I spoke in a distinctly elevated voice, "I don't want to hear anything else from you." I collected my receipt and it will be the last time I go there. Since we are on the subject of "liability," let's address something that he thought I did not notice. A full vehicle inspection would take exceedingly more than 3 minutes. My car was parked in the lot. Now, my car informs me via text whenever the doors are unlocked and when the engine is started. How is it possible that these alerts happened 3 minutes before he rang me up, collected his $20 and returned the checklist to me with a stamp saying "PASSED?" Short answer:it is not. My car is brand new 2015 with only 140 miles. They probably assumed their was nothing wrong and simply signed off on it. I find this to be a "liability" to the company and will be sure to forward this information to them as this is falsified information. All in all, terrible customer service by this person. One bad apple will spoil the lot. However, based on their low cumulative star review, I suspect bad service is the norm. read more

They charged $100 for diagnosis "check engine" sign. but it seems they didn't do. Because I got "check engine" sign again after two weeks, changed exhaust sensor. Now they said I need to change a catalytic converter and possibly need to change another next. read more

Never go this place if you want to save your time and money. They are totally unprofessional and dishonest. I went there to repair a window. They did a full inspection and worked wrong for other widows. I notice after inspection that all power window stopped working. They told me that they will call me back on the same day after they get the parts. They never called me. I tried to call then few more times and never get any useful information of parts. They quoted me $290 to change the window regulator. I went to another mechanic, charged only $75. Full of sitt, dishonest people in Chicago. They are sitting there to steal your money in daylight. read more

This shop has the worst customer service. They required unnecessary documents when they are busy and trying to refuse small customers.

We have visited this location 3 times, the service is fine, however having items stolen from your car is not fun. 1st Visit purchased new tires and they put them on and the rims where out of balance. Stole GPS. 2nd visit to tell them to balance the tires. You would think a tire company would provide that has part of the tire repair and purchase new tires & rims. Stole ray-ban sunglasses & phone jacks. 3rd visit, tire going flat with large bolt, not their fault, but they stole my swim gear. Who steals things of very little value, just doesn't make sense. The last time I gave the benefit of the doubt, because they need to but the donut on, I thought might have forgotten to put the items back in the trunk. When I called to complain, they said we are sorry that happened, but since a day or 2 passed it hard to say that they were missing from the date when the car was serviced. I don't want to take inventory every-time I have my car serviced. However I may need to deal with them again, because I purchased a warranty for the tires, ugh! read more

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Let me start b saying that i live across the street from this location so i figured it would be better than waiting somewhere else to get it repaired. whenever you take your car to be repaired you expect to get ripped off just a little, well brother they got me alot. I have a 2011 Dodge Nitro and was starting to hear a little squeaking from my rear tires. Time for new brakes, i dropped my car off and explained what was going on saying that I need breaks, no problem he says, and would you like an oil change while its here? Sure it was time anyway. The call comes that my rotors are worn down pass the point? First flag, after years of driving I know when its been to long and rotor problems starts. Then he gives me the spill on how its going to cost me $318.00 with these discounts, figured that was in my price range anyway so go right ahead. Well I few hours later the call comes that my car is ready, i arrive to pick up my car and the teller tell me $430.00, WHAT! i ask what happen to the other price i was given over the phone, he says OK i will let you talk to the person who gave you that price. Now this clown comes in and says Oh yeah well Uncle Sam has to get his, Really, really are you f#$%^& kidding me! Then he breaks out the bill, $52.00 for an oil change, he tells me my car needs a special oil, really i take my car every 3000 miles and pay $35.00, next he explains that the price he gave me was before taxes, I ask why didn't you say that, his response. Thought you knew that. Wow, then he offers to take another $10.00 off the price. Let me start by telling you what I told him, my stupidity and you got me this time! but never in my life will i walk inside this store ever again!! Shame on me! it just took them 2 hrs to change my oil even with me calling ahead.... It would have been faster to drive out of the city to get it done.

I went there May 7th 2015 dropped my truck off for a simple wheel alignment. I left my truck there for the day as I went to work. When I returned to pick up my truck the shop supervisor on duty charged me for an alignment so I paid and left. I assumed everything went ok because I had not received a call from the shop during the day stating otherwise. As I drove off I noticed my steering wheel was still unaligned and the truck drove even worse than it did when I dropped it off that morning. I contacted the Firestone and spoke with the same shop supervisor and told him that I wanted to return because I didn't believe the alignment was done properly. The shop was scheduled to be open for another 4 hours and close at 10pm that evening however he asked me if I could bring it back in the next morning so I agreed. The next morning when I returned I confronted the morning supervisor and told him of the situation that my alignment couldn't have been done properly. He said I needed new tie rod ends and that he attempted to call me twice while I was at work and notify me. I told him that he must have been mistaken and that I received no missed calls from their shop. I asked him if he had called, why didn't he leave me a voicemail message. I concluded the reason was because he was lying! He had no response to that. So I informed him that the inner tie rod ends were brand new installed the day before and the outer ends were done a few month prior. So his response then was that they were not installed properly which was a lie. Then I asked that if I needed other work done and parts replaced, why did you do the alignment? Then he admits that they didn't do an alignment and that he would give me a refund. That's when I lost it! You charged me for work that wasn't even performed! His response was, that's why I'm gonna give you your money back. I can't even describe the anger I felt. What a rip-off! Don't go there!!! read more

If I could give no stars to this place I would. Worst experience ever from a repair shop. I took my 2000 Jeep Cherokee in because I was loosing coolant and it's close to my house. Easy, right? And a Jeep with a straight 6 cyl engine is child's play to work on. It needed a water pump and I agreed. Later they wanted to charge me an extra 100.00 to backflush the cooling system. I asked why they would not be flushing the system after draining all the coolant out and putting a new pump and coolant in anyway. They agreed and assured me I would get the system flushed clean before putting in the new parts and coolant.After 2 days I picked it up and drove to Wisconsin. I Smelled coolant all the way and took it to another shop in Wisconsin. When they opened the hood they found rags left on top of the engine and looking in the radiator they said no way had they done anything other than swap the water pump, the coolant was filthy and corroded. Firestone also hit me with the long list of "recommended" repairs as long as I was in there. Do not trust these people. Stay away. read more
