While I can't give 5 stars because I haven't had my car serviced here yet, I will give 4 stars because they were very forthcoming and honest when I called. The guy who answered the phone let me know the price, their walk in policy for today, and how many cars were in as well as how many mechanics were currently staffed. I respect that kind of honesty. A tip to anyone looking to get work done at a shop: calmly ask any questions you may have first and gauge the responses. Then factor those responses into your schedule and requirements. The only reason I didn't go here is because my daily driver needs an alignment today, on a Sunday and there was a wait. But different from many other shops, these guys told me the truth. I was there for a wheel alignment. They came up saying that I needed to change an arm I think in order to do the alignment right. So I had to pay about 250 extra. I asked for tire rotation. They said they did that when they didn't. Called after and they admitted they didn't that it wasn't necessary to rotate them.... What?!?! read more

Two issue... both left unresolved. Never going back. 1.) Grease and dirt on tires, not just a little grease... gobs of it. New tires looked way worse than the old ones. 2.) Tires not properly inflated so the warning light stayed on. Came for a 4 wheel alignment after installing 4 new tires. The tech who looks at it says my car needs some additional work. The service advisor says it needs rearward control arm bushings because its shaking when driving. I ask if they can do the alignment anyway. They very rudely say can't be done, it's not gonna make a difference. I firmly ask them to just to the alignment. They say I'm not gonna warranty it and I agree and they just hang up on me. Thankfully they called me back when the car was ready and again rudely says it's still gonna shake. This car had no shaking issues before or after I picked it up. The service advisors here need some additional training. The alignment was not even done properly. They only adjusted the front toe to spec. The rear camber and rear toe adjustments hardware were loosened up prior to bringing the car in and they still had the nerve to be rude and condescending and not even do the alignment correctly. read more

Total waste of time. I explained what type of vehicle I had and wanted an alignment. I made an appointment that I kept even though I was tired from work. I drove over there and without even leaving his office to look at my vehicle the manager rudely said unless you want to buy tires were not working on your vehicle. I did not need tires. I tried to talk to him but was totally shut down. lack of customer service was annoying. Unless it is something they can get you in and out with a big profit they are not interested.. A good business is built on satisfied customers. Hope there attitude comes back to haunt hem. There are lots of good mechanic shops that deserve our business. I was hesitant to go here because of the bad reviews, but it was close to where I live, had the tire in stock that I needed to replace, and I could book a same day appointment online easy. Dropped the car off at the appointment time, they told me it would be about an hour and they called me in 45 minutes to say it was done. For a simple tire replacement, all I needed was time, convenience and the right tire in stock, and they checked those boxes. Also has free WiFi while you wait, although I didn't use it. read more

I had a wonderful experience with Jaime today. First heavy snow of this year and my tire pressure light came on. unfortunately, they did not have any appointments available for today but Jaime was able to take a quick read of my tire pressure and get them to the right PSI. He also provided great recommendations to get an alignment/rotation completed ASAP in addition to new tires this winter given the amount of driving and wear of my current tires. Never turning to them for help again. I've always given Firestone locations my business but the past two times I've needed assistance with tire service at the Elston location, the woman working was so unwelcoming. I clearly interrupted her and a group of about 5 associates shooting the breeze in the garage when she came in slurping on her energy drink basically shooing me out the door to the Shell Service station down the street. I was also told that anybody at Firestone that plugged/repaired a tire for me in the past should have been fired because they don't do that... No one likes feeling ripped off and that is exactly how I feel now. This place is annoying. First of all, I'm a women and don't know anything about cars. I went here to get my tire fixed, it had a slow leak. The man at the counter was great, I explained the problem and he looked at the tire. I thought everything was under control. He told me three hours(I didn't have an appointment) so I expected that....two hour later they called and said it was a rim leak and I was also missing lug nut. I agreed to the terms he set on the phone. The rip off part comes in when I pay the bill...its $16 per lug nut not $16 total. Apprently, lug nuts for a Honda Accord are a special order... yes a honda accord. The most popular car in the US has more expensive lug nuts than a Range Rover.. are these nuts made of gold! Then they tell me these golden nuts are not on the tire they fixed but distributed among all the tires. I look at the tires and can't even tell which one are new. So I spent 55 for a patch and magical nuts. Yes, Its my own fault for not clarifing the material. read more

I went here because I needed new tires. They got me the tires quickly and began work promptly. It was discovered that I was going to need a new rim. They said that they had none in stock and would have to order one. OK that was fine. I didn't expect them to have EVERY part in stock at all times. they said that they were hoping ghat it would be in the next afternoon and that they would call me. Well they never called me! I placed several other calls to them in the next few days and the canned response was: "Let me call and check and I will call you back. After a week of not getting my calls returned, they finally called me to let me know that the part was finally in the store. I completely understand that when dealing with outside vendors, that things can happen: wrong items can arrive, or items could be on back order. I really would have appreciated some follow up throughout this ordeal. I know nobody likes giving bad news, but I would have appreciated them telling me the the truth. Even though it took a week to get the part in, they would have earned my respect and repeat business if they would have just kept me in the loop, informed of what was going on. read more

Crooks. I had an almost funny flashback experience here -- then I took my car away from them without having any work done. I'll get back to that part in a bit. Many years ago in my student days I used to go to Firestone for their sale on oil changes. The only downside of the low price is that you had to endure the scary-up-sell-routine. It went like this, "we'll do the oil change but your ball-joints, springs, whatever are shot". When I used to say "no thanks" they would come back with "your wheel might fall off", "you could loose control" and so on. The first few times I took the car somewhere else for a second opinion and that ALWAYS resulted in being told that the car was fine. That was a long time ago and when I noticed Firestone had a good price on wheel alignment I made an appointment at this place thinking that surely no business could get away with that in this day and age. On the day on my appointment they told me the work would take an hour so I went to a nearby place to have something to eat, mainly so that I could read without listening to the television they have in the waiting area. After an hour I came back to the bad news - "sorry, this car can't be aligned because the tie-rods are shot". They said they could take care of it for something close to $400! In complete disbelief I asked them to get my car down off the rack because I wasn't having any work done there. True to form they warned me that "if it wasn't fixed I would someday loose steering control". I didn't get out of there pain free as they charged me something like $20-$30 for the "inspection". I took my car someplace else and had the alignment done. The place I went to was another national brand and they didn't even mention the tie-rods until I asked about them. They said that they noticed a little play in the tie-rod ends but that they had plenty of wear left in them before they needed replacement. Since I don't drive much that could be years. read more

This place is awful. My boyfriend had his tires replaced here twice because they gave him the best price. I came in once to inquire about getting a new alternator and was treated like complete shit. The guy at the counter talked to me like I obviously didn't know a car from a rollerskate. He insisted he would have to charge me $100 just to look at the car, despite the fact that I was 100% certain I needed a new alternator. My boyfriend came in a bit after me to hear the estimate and suddenly the desk guy no longer would talk to me, only to my boyfriend. I'd ask a question, he'd deliver the answer to my boyfriend. You know, cuz girls don't know shit about cars, or something. Sorry, jackass, but I come from a long line of automotive engineers and know a shitload more about cars than my boyfriend. They said I need new brakes, new rotors, and new shocks (around $800+) when I went in to get my oil change and utilize my lifetime alignment deal. They said they couldn't do the alignment as well as usual because I need the other new parts first. I told them to do the alignment anyway and hold off on the rest since the price was so high. So, I go to a very reasonably priced place Velaquez & Sons Brakes since they had a great star rating on Yelp to get the job done and save some $. They checked out the car and call me to say I don't need ANYTHING! My brakes are good for another 6-8 months, they filled up my brake fluid which they did not charge me for and sent me on my merry way. How can it be LEGAL for big box Firestone to make these false claims and scare people into thinking they need these parts they DO NOT!?! Be careful with them!! read more

I dropped my car off at Firestone to get a tire replaced. While it was there they checked it out and said it needed new sway bar bushings at a cost of $145, a new axle at a cost of $300, an alignment at a cost of $90, and also said they detected an oil leak but couldn't determine where it was coming from. They quoted $108 for a leak detection test, which doesn't even include the repair once they find where the leak is. I didn't have any of the work done and took the car to my regular mechanic to get a second opinion. They said the sway bar bushings needed to be lubricated but were overall ok. They said the axle looked COMPLETELY FINE. They also said an alignment wasn't needed and correctly inflating the tires would correct the alignment issue. Finally, my mechanic found the oil leak immediately for NO CHARGE and said it'd cost around $200 to repair. Essentially Firestone told me I needed over $500 of work for problems that don't exist, and over $100 for a test my mechanic did for no charge. I will never give Firestone my business ever again. read more

This will be my last time working with Firestone. Yesterday I brought my car in because my wiper was acting up. This all started occurring 2 days after I had gone to a different firestone to get my wipers and tires replaced, with no problems previously and no one stated anything was lose when fixing my car, which I found that to be odd. This Firestone fixed the wiper and tightened whatever they needed to, I wasn't charged for the wiper, great, but I had to complain about it and state that I had just purchased these wipers I shouldn't have to pay for anything new. After all was said and done to get something tighten was 65 dollars. To say I was shocked was an understatement. I feel like Firestone is only out to get money not to build outlasting relationships with costumers. read more

I had called ahead and was told my wait would be 1 hour. 3 hours later I asked how my tire was coming and the manager went to grab one of the 4 guys that were hanging out and eating to come and check my tire. I watched as my tire was removed where the guy took it to another area and took another break. I understand that everyone deserves a break...but at the same time? I woke up this morning with this awful feeling in my stomach... I had a feeling when I went to my car that my tire would be flat. So after digging it out of the snow and driving a few feet yup I was right my tire was dead. I had my car towed to this firestone crossing my fingers there wasn't a long wait. After arriving and getting the estimate and the dude telling me it should be a quick change, I am still in the waiting area 2.5 hours later. I am highly dissapointed with their customer service and high prices. Of course being female and walking into an autobody shop knowing little to nothing about cars I do feel taken advantage of. I had my car towed there after I couldn't get it started. I explained what was wrong and how the car was acting. He half listened and kept trying to sell me on a $49 deal to check the battery and alternator, both of which were fine and definitely not the issue. I'm not a mechanic, but this was pretty basic car stuff. Something that anyone who works in a repair shop would definitely know. After going back and forth and having the same conversation several times, I just had the car towed back to my house. The problem was the fuel pump, which is definitely not a battery or an alternator. It was like going to a doctor for a broken arm, but having them insist that they take an X-Ray of your leg first, regardless of the fact that you walked in there just fine. read more

I dropped my car off at 9:30 AM for an oil change and brake inspection. They said they would call when it was done and tell me about my brakes and could do them hy the end of the day if needed. I walk by going to dinner and check the status at 6 PM to see that my car has not moved. I ask about the car and was told that it was currently out on a test run. They did not do anything to the car for 8 and a half hours. I eat and come back. It was not done until 7:45. 10 hours and 15 minutes for an oil change and tire rotation. I was lied to too many times to let them do my brakes and reluctantly paid the $91. Full price when next door had $8 off if you brought it in between 8 and 10. They wasted a rare day off where I do not need a car and a lot of my time. No real sorry or taking the blame until the end when I asked if oil changes normally take over 10 hours. read more

Then you might experience the chugging and jerking that I had all the way going home... where I finished your work myself! This they tried to make right by offering me a free oil change. I have had two different cars serviced here and both times the experience was great. My "Service Advisor" was Francisco both times and each time he was friendly. I have gotten all 4 tires replaced on my 2003 Infiniti and an oil change on my 1998 Honda Civic. The Honda was a recent hand me down from my brother and I couldn't get the front license plate off because the screws/bolts were rusted on. I asked them to help me and they took it off no problem. They even went the extra mile and replaced a blown out fuse on the clock/radio without me asking them to do so. It's the little things :) There's no question, I'll be using them again in the future. They offer really good deals (check their website and speak with the techs on hand) and I was able to get in an out within a decent amount of time. I am impressed with the tires that the manager suggested, they were not as expensive as the other brand and their handling in the blizzard was excellent. I have gone here since I moved to Chicago 3 years ago. I find that they are helpful and honor agreements (discounts, etc). The only thing I would complain about is (and I have read this in other reviews) that they don't do a good job at all of explaining to me what exactly is wrong, assume I am an idiot, and then keep repeating the same answer over and over...which is annoying. I have a warranty on my tires- and one of them got a screw in it. Instead of replacing the tire, they just patched it. Seems kinda lazy to me. They recently replaced my alternator and I have yet to pick it up. We shall see... The reason I did give 3 stars was because they do a great oil change and have been reasonably easy to work with...and they are very good at calling me immediately with an update. read more

My family and I used to come to this location for years for minor services (new tires, rotations, alignments, oil changes etc.) to all our vehicles. NEVER AGAIN! I had a nail in one of the tires of my Ford Escape. They charged me and my tire went flat again. Turns out THEY CHANGED THE WRONG TIRE. My father took his Honda Civic in for an oil change. The next morning his car began to shake while he was driving to work. Fed up, he went to my brother in laws mechanic where an evaluation showed cables and wires connected to the wrong locations in the battery and engine. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

I have had the unfortunate experience of blowing my engine TWICE in the same car. They did a great job each time and on the second, their turnaround was INCREDIBLE!! And as an Uber driver, having my car in the shop for ANY length of time costs me money. This was the closest full service location to tow the car to the first time. The repairs took about a week. Sadly, a sensor on the replacement engine gave out beyond the 12,000 warranty and I was not smart enough to just shut the car down and get it towed there ... and the engine blew again. I was again told that the repairs would take about a week and, since it happened on New Year's Eve, I was already down two days of income. Well, instead of taking a week, Tony was able to juggle the schedules of some of the mechanics and he had the car back to me in just THREE DAYS! The extra five days of driving that they bought me made the sting of having to pay such a large bill ... AGAIN!... just a little bit more bearable. I now have a regularly scheduled maintenance check with the shop. I can't thank Tony, Luke and the crew of mechanics enough for the personal attention that they gave me! read more

I've went to this location a couple times - both times I had ordered tires online and had them shipped here for installation. My most recent trip I made a same day appointment and was told when I dropped my car off it would take 1.5 - 2 hours (2 new tires and alignment). I went into this store to get an oil change, and ended up having my personal safety put in danger. So the day I scheduled my oil change, I went in and got it done. It took them over 2 hours to do it, but I realized they were busy so it wasn't a big deal. When I was driving home, I started hearing a loud rattling noise coming from my front left tire for the first time. I called up Firestone, and they told me to come back the next day to get it checked out because it was probably a loose splash guard. I go in, but it's not the splash guard, so they set up an appointment for me in a couple of days to take a good look at it and diagnose the problem...their suggestion was that it was a broken CV axle. The next day, the noise seems to get worse and I started getting worried that something was really wrong with my car. So I ended up going to a place I trust, and they very quickly were able to diagnose my problem: My front left tire's lug nuts had been loosened and my tire was close to flying off. I am positive I did not touch that tire, and the sound only started after I left Firestone. I don't think it was intentional, but sometime during their inspection, they did something with the tire and forgot to screw it back on. I don't even know why they were touching my tire when it was just an oil change. It is scary that I drove around a couple of days like that; my life was in jeopardy and I wasn't even aware. So I wasted a lot of time for an oil change & they could have gotten me killed. But at least a got a decent deal, only $55 for a full synthetic oil change. And the kicker was, after they did the inspection with the oil change, their main recommendation was that I should change my air filter. But after I said sure, they realized they didn't actually have any new air filters at their shop, and then they just put my dirty air filter back. read more

This place is extremely busy and Daylon was proactive about giving me a call and letting me know that my car would be ready an hour later than expected. I really appreciated this small gesture. Do NOT GO HERE! BUYER BEWARE! Typical bait and switch scheme amongst other things. I needed new tires for my car and had looked online for best prices on all weather tires. Firestone was nearby and not too expensive, so I called them to see if the tires I needed were in stock. They said no, but that they would arrive the next day and the would call me. That was a Sunday--by Wednesday, I decided to call them myself. Victor answered the phone and said, yes they had three of the tires I needed in the warehouse and he would send his guys to go pick them up. They had another tire of that brand in stock. He said to come on by and that it would take an hour to complete my tires. I arrived at the shop at 4:30 and double checked again to find out how long it would be for my tires and they then said it would be an hour and a half. I said Victor had said only an hour and Victor just looked up at me and said I was mistaken. FIne, I shrugged, big deal, just a half hour more....they had free wifi so I was able to continue doing work. I again verified they had all four of m y tires--and Larry the manager said yes again. After 1 Hour I asked the manager, Larry if they were sure they had all of my tires and he replied yes. (Despite the fact that my car was sitting on a lift with zero work being done on it.). Another hour passes and by this time I am getting impatient. I look over at my car and it has THREE tires, but the one in front is missing and no one is working on it. After 2 and a half hours I ask to talk to Larry again and he says they have a problem that they don't have the 1 other tire they thought they had and he said he would have to put on a different, more expensive tire. I'm no mechanical genius, but the thought of having THREE tires with 1 DIFFERENT tire just DOES NOT sit well with me. He saw I was getting frustrated so he said he would do the one tire for the price of the others. And I was like SERIOUSLY, you just said you had all four tires???????????!!!!!!!!!!! And NOW YOU DON'T? I told him to just take my car down and put my old tires back on and I would go somewhere else and then miraculously he says OK that he would put all of the same tires on at a discount price. I had to wait another 30 minutes for the new four tires, so a total of over 3 hours spent at this place. DO NOT GO HERE. They are scam artists---while I was waiting a woman walked in and just needed them to fix her tire that was flat. Somehow they ended up making her car worse and they wanted her to do a total alignment and tire change....NOT COOL to do that to someone.
