Failed a safety inspection at another place due to a tail light being out and brought it to Firestone to get re-inspected. After about an hour, they told me my car had failed and needed $700 worth of repairs to pass inspection. I asked how on earth that was possible, since the car had only failed 2 weeks ago for a tail light being out and they said the other place "must have just missed it." After regretfully paying them $16 for failing me and lying to me, the lady behind the counter picked up the phone and started talking to someone before I could get my keys back. I stood there for over a minute trying to get her attention and she simply acted as though I was not there. I literally had to go back to the garage and ask one of the mechanics to go to the front desk and give me my keys back. Needless to say, I will never return to this place. read more

I am from out of town and had to bring my car here while in town on business for an oil change before. Yesterday, I drove by there because I was in town again and was about to make a 6 hour drive home when my engine light and some other lights came on in my older truck. Christina at the front desk was able to provide me with a free diagnostic which listed out what the potential issues could be with those warning lights. She carefully explained to me what each one of these meant, what the probabilities of real issues was, she also checked the oil to make sure I would be good for the 6 hour drive home. All for free. I was able to drive home with the peace of mind that none of those warning lights were likely to cause me any real issues on the way home and advised to just get the truck checked when I got home. That is great above and beyond service for someone who is not even going to be able to be a regular return customer since I live out of town. Rest assured next time my truck and I are in Norfolk however, we will be visiting Firestone on Granby Street! read more

My first experience with this Firestone location was late August 2013 when we were moving to the area from central NY. The calipers in the van we were using went and needed to be fixed before I headed back to NY in it. This was Labor Day weekend so there were limited places open and I feel that they ether took advantage of the situation or didn't have a clue what they were doing. They told me the rotors were warped from the bad calipers (the rotors were brand new before this trip) and needed to be replaced along with the calipers (they also wanted to throw it some fluid flushes etc...). Through tears I agreed to the work they said was needed. When I showed our long time mechanic in NY the rotors they had removed he said they were definitely not warped and had not needed to be replaced. Still paying the balance off my credit card. I vowed to never go back here once we were all moved, but then our Honda Civic started leaking radiator fluid and once again this was the closest place to have the problem checked. They quoted us $900 dollars to fix the problem, meanwhile a handful of other places within towing distance at coming in around $500. Needless to say it's getting towed tonight. Beware; this place sucks, go someplace else. read more

My husband and I always have such a great experience at this location. They let me drop my car off on a Monday night for state inspection the following morning. They were completed by around 1100 and I picked up my car that evening after work. They gave me a courtesy call in the morning around 800 to go over their recommendations and were very kind even though I declined. Everyone from the front desk to the mechanics were very prompt and helpful! For the three years we have lived here we have always had good service here. My AC broke late last summer so I took it to them because they had done my oil changes and seemed fine. They told me a needed a new compressor but that did not fix the problem. I talked to the manager and he reduced the cost of the next repair (broken hose?), which did seem to fix it. However, it was late in the season at that point and I didn't use the AC much, so I didn't realize until a couple weeks ago that something was still wrong. This time took it to Subaru dealership and they said Firestone had over-filled the freon and if I had kept running the AC it would have destroyed my new compressor. Subaru evacuated the excess freon but there was still something wrong. After further work, Subaru found a sensor that helps regulate the AC cycles (sorry I don't know all these part names) broken and installed in the wrong place. After this final fix, AC seems to be working. I spent a lot of money chasing down this problem, which I get the sense was made worse by the work Firestone did. After that experience I don't have confidence in them. read more

Rip off! Went in to get a state inspection and was told I failed because I had a daytime running light out. The running light was part of the main headlight assembly and I was told the only way to change the bulb was to pull the whole bumper off and remove the light and that would take around 2 hours. So the charge to change the lightbulb was roughly $230. For a running light bulb. Made no sense to me because what car do you have to disassemble the front end to change a lightbulb so with a quick YouTube search I immediately found videos of it being done without removing the bumper at all. There were 10mm bolts that attached the bumper that you had to take out in order to get the light out but not nearly what I was told and it shouldn't have taken experienced mechanics 2 hours. Scam artists. Replaced the bulb myself. read more

After expert diagnosis, they worked with me to fashion a solution that got me going again. It took 3 hours for an oil change and tire rotation. When I came back they attempted charge for tire rotation. Before I left, I marked tires with current position, they hadn't moved. I would give this 0 stars if I could. Yesterday, I brought my car in for a state inspection and an oil change. I assumed I wouldn't hear back until after lunch since there were three people ahead of me. No big deal. Well, an hour later I heard back from them (It was quick, almost too quick). I was told that my left control arm bushing had torn completely and that I would need a new one which would cost me $400+. I immediately felt like they were being dishonest so I took it to the dealership for a second opinion. My dealership had verified nothing was wrong with the control arm bushing and that it does not need to be replaced. Unfortunately, I have to report this to the state police to get this all straightened out, because my dealership cannot override the rejection without state police approval (I just want my car back already). This has caused an unnecessary hassle of working out transportation between me and my family. If I had authorized Firestone to "repair" my car. I would have had to shovel out $418 dollars to fix something that does not need to be fixed. I almost fell victim to this Firestone's fraudulent practices and methods, and will certainly never use them again for anything. This Firestone deserves to be shut down, and their state inspector's license revoked. read more

I blew a tire on my corvette the night before driving from Norfolk to NYC. I brought my car in first thing in the morning and the staff made sure they looked at it right away. They could have shipped the matching tire within just a few days, but because I needed to get on the road right away they searched all their nearby stores to find a pair of tires that matched the uncommon size of corvette Z06 front wheels. They sent an employee to pick them up and had the new tires installed and aligned by 10 am, and I left from there for NYC. That kind of above and beyond service could not have been more appreciated. I was beyond impressed and thankful. Everyone was super friendly and accommodating, and I will absolutely be returning for future service. read more

As soon as you walk in the door, customer service is garbage. The employee working the lobby has an attitude that says "we don't care about your situation" and really don't care for your business. Or you get the other employee who has the competency of a 15 year old. One of their technicians tried to tell me my air condition wasn't blowing cold air because there was a leak of freon which is understandable. However, I asked if he had run a leak test and his reply was "no". This technician attempted to have me pay to replace my radiator without even knowing for sure there was a leak coming from the radiator which would have cost roughly 600$. Does that tell the customer enough about the way this establishment operates? I went in to buy new firestone tires on a separate occasion (at this point I was still giving them the benefit of the doubt) to put on my new rims and the employee just started shaking their head left and right at me; Symbolic of their aforementioned customer service. They wouldn't put new firestone tires on my new aftermarket rims because of liability. This tells me that a tire dealership isn't even confident enough in their work to properly install new tires on aftermarket rims that, although not manufactured by Ford, are specifically designed to fit the make and model vehicle I drive.
