I've have ordered from these guys before and they always used to include pancake or steam bun with the sliced duck. This time it came with nothing but an5 spice sauce. I even had to order the rice as a separate order. They said they did not have pancakes. Furthermore, the duck was just slimy SKIN, not even crispy, and congealed FAT. Their are many times were their was dried food or dirt on the dishes and silverware. The food at First Chinese is pretty good, everything is tender and has a pretty good taste and portion. The things I recommend getting are the duck, cha siu, beef crispy noodle (my favorite dish), beef flat noodle, seafood crispy noodle, cha siu crispy noodle, orange beef, fried salt and pepper shrimp, wonton soup, crispy tofu, fried rice, walnut shrimp, crispy spicy pork chop, beef hot pot, and scallion beef. Overall this place is one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants in Dallas. For other Cantonese family style restaurants in Dallas are The Pearl in Arlington, First Chinese BBQ Plano, First Emperor in Richardson, A1 in Carrollton, Sun Lok Kee Plano, Golden BBQ in Arlington and Garden restaurant in Garland. I've been coming to this location since I was a child. It can get crowded especially on the weekends and Friday nights but they seat you pretty quickly even though the place is on the smaller side. It is cash only. Our go to dishes are the beef flat noodles, wonton soup, crispy pork and duck, and whatever greens they have that are in season, which they will tell you if you ask. The portions are large so my family of 4 typically only gets 3 dishes and we still have leftovers. The prices are fairly cheap for the amount and quality of the food you get. The food comes out fast as well so if you are really hungry, don't worry, you won't have to wait too long. The other First Chinese BBQ locations really don't compare to this one so we make the trip to Richardson every now and then. This location is in a tiny strip mall. It's tucked between a foot massage place and a bakery. As you enter you're greeted by their BBQ meats. If you plan to order any of those items be sure to peek in to the meat display to see what's available. One it's gone it's gone. I recommend getting the roast pork, duck and tripe. The roast pork, to me, is way better than the BBQ pork. The skin is super crispy and the meat is moist and flavorful. If you feel the need to have a vegetable with your meal I highly recommend ordering snow pea leaves with garlic. Way better than Chinese broccoli or any other vegetable that you're used to eating. I would always drive to this location if I could because they cooked way better than other locations. Today we made the trip and I was not as happy. Salted fried rice was really good that you could taste the fish and had enough ingredients in it. The duck and pork bbq was good like the usual not dry and is fresh. The noodles hofun was delicious. Crispy shrimp was ok but less serving in my opinion. The sweet and sour pork chop was ok too. The only disappointing part was the steamed flounder. It came out looking nice but when we ate it , it was dry and not fresh at all. The lady and chef came out to let us know the fish was fresh and showed us a frozen fish on his hand just to let us know that the fish is new. I enjoy the beef flat noodles, crispy pork or crispy shrimp and Chinese broccoli with garlic. Not a big fan of the BBQ duck and pork-just not my thing. The crispy pork or shrimp has a wok fried assortment of scallions and sliced fresh jalapeños that I find delicious and is my primary reason for ordering. It is very salty but gooood if you don't give a damn about your waistline or artery health. The beef flat noodles can be very tasty but I end up dousing with large quantities of the red chili paste served on the table and perhaps a few dashes of soy sauce. It just spices it up a bit and makes it much better. I have had the noodle soup with wontons and it is perfectly fine. A bit above average but the store bought noodles in it are nothing special. Upon walking in, you'll see the Chinese BBQ hanging to your right, with an elderly Chinese man ready to chop up anything to order. Plenty of seating - small and large tables and booths available. There's also three Chinese menu scribbled on a glass frame on the walls which I cannot understand. Ordered roasted duck and wonton soup and they were also able to add BBQ pork to it ($8.95). Everything was surprisingly perfect. Everything. Rich broth, moist BBQ pork, tender roasted duck, and one of the best shrimp wontons I have had in a long time - juicy, plump, not rubbery, and in one of the thinnest wonton wrappers I have seen. The only thing I question is the ramen noodles itself - I am not convinced that these are the best ramen noodles. But they do pair themselves well with the proteins. I'll need to come back to try the other things - I have my eyes on the lemon grass ribs, prawns and whatever is scribbled on the wall in Chinese. Lol. The server was never nice from the beginning, which was understandable, but when we were going to pay, she told us that we were four people and didn't pay enough tip.
