As you can see in the photo, the pork had hardly any fat in it - that's where the flavor is. The roast pork was alright except for a MAJOR dinger... it was not crunchy! I don't know if maybe I came during off-peak hours or what, but that was a let down because that's the best part. I'll probably give this another try because the atmosphere here is super chill and the customer service is really nice. But for now, this place only merits a 3-star review. read more

It used to be our go-to Cantonese food restaurant when there was nothing much in Plano... twenty years ago. Now you can get almost anything in Plano, so I have to really make an effort to come to Richardson. It was a really late afternoon. So it was more of an afternoon snack than lunch. I just got something I used to get when I was a kid in my home country: wonton noodles. The noodles were good. The wontons (about half a dozen) were very good. The shrimp and pork were quite fresh and flavorful. Good wontons must have fresh and chunky (but not too chunky) fresh shrimp + pork with some fat. In some places, they try to be healthy and use really nonfat pork. They also cut back on shrimp. It tastes so plain and it's just not authentic wonton from its original country. They also have a variety of other Hong Kong style items, such as roasted pork, chickens, and ducks. Come on in, and you'll enjoy their food. read more

The neat part about this restaurant is that the small number of staff are prompt and get the food out fast. This place is cash only, but also the menu is cheaper compared to places trying to commercialize Chinese cuisine. If you are not used to the service, don't be discouraged by their abrupt nature. Sometimes they can come off as rude, but it's really nothing to stress about. They have plenty of regulars and they get the job done. The worst part was.... cash only It's a pretty decent size restaurant (maybe 15 tables, big party tables as well) so I was a bit disappointed. Being in a rush, it would not had been okay if I had to go pull out cash. Luckily I had $30 in my wallet and used it to pay. Nothing stood out for me here. Nothing special. If I can, I'd give this place no stars. New to the area and came here earlier today to buy some roast duck since it was the only place that popped up that looked decent. Service was poor. No one greeted us when we came in. The lady at the front desk literally stood there and stared at us and didn't offer any help. I'm assuming one of the "chef" (older man who chops the duck) came out and pointed at us and only then she ask us what we needed help with. We ordered two roast duck and some roast pork and roast pork leg. Everything was chopped for us but the pork leg. We kindly ask the man to cut it for us and instead of saying he can't, he simply held up the pork leg, with an annoyed look and proceed to "bend" the leg indicating that it was easily broken. Rude. I normally just go to this place for the roast pork and duck. The joint is clean like all First Chinese BBQ places.... The ladies up front aren't necessarily friendly... but I think its because of the language barrier... but once you are a regular like me, they start to lighten up... I like this one more then the one in Plano and Carrolton because the roast pork and and roast duck are more consistent... and not as fatty as some of the other location.. In addition, you seem to get more here for your money even though they are already cheap. I hear King Noodle across the street has great noodles there, but the beef flat noodle hear is just as good, in my opinion. Either way, the location has so much selection to choose from. The seafood crispy noodle and sauteed snow pea leaves (not on the menu) are also great. Pretty much everything here is good. Eating family-style is definitely the way to go. Like most authentic Asian places, the service isn't the greatest so don't expect your server to come back and check on you after you get your food. Tips: Cash only! Take-out prices are cheaper. The quality of First Chinese BBQ has seriously gone down which is such a disappointment because this placed used to be a go-to for certain dishes. Ordered the seafood crispy noodle today since it's Friday during Lent season and I can't eat meat. The crispy noodles themselves were adequate but the seafood tasted horrible. This used to be one of my favorite dishes from them too. The squid tasted like it came from a can or something. The shrimp was overcooked and tasted old. My family and I have been going here for years, and it's always our first stop each time we drive in to Dallas (even before we check in our hotel). This location has since expanded size wise, which is nice because the wait isn't as long as it used to be...wait, I take that back. It's still long, esp. on the weekends, but not as bad. While you're waiting, you can always check out the guy chopping up the duck/chicken/pork pieces and other animal parts that I'm not sure I want to try. Our usual favorites are the roast duck and then it's a toss-up between bbq or roast pork. My dad also gets the wonton noodle soup. Depending on how hungry he is, he gets 2 orders! The portions for a lot of the dishes are pretty big, and you can't beat the prices. Steamed rice comes with any order and is about right for 2-4 people. My parents try to come here every few months, and at least once when my brother & I are home for the holidays. We make habit of stopping here as we're leaving Dallas and getting a couple orders of duck and pork to go so we can get our "fix" at home in LA . Yum. read more

This place is a family favorite. There are a few locations but this is definitely the best one. We know everyone that's on staff here but I really hate saying this.. Their customer service could use some improvement. Sometimes they're not very attentive and sometimes... You can sort of read their attitude from their face and that's no bueno. The food is amazing. Anything you order, it's going to be good so enjoying your dish will definitely be the least of your worries. My family and I have been coming here for many many many years. I don't even remember life before their cha shao (叉燒)! This is my go-to place for authentic Cantonese food/bbq and the place in Richardson that I tend to recommend to my Asian and non-Asian friends. The service and the fact that it's cash only are not so good, but let's move on the food: Best cha shao (red bbq pork) is the best in the DFW area, hands down. I actually didn't even find better cha shao while I was living in LA. The rest of the cuts of meat (duck, tendon, chicken, etc.) are pretty good too. The only complaint I have is that their roast pig could be more tender and have crispier skin. The rest of the food is all flavorful and really delicious. Pretty good for Dallas, I must say, and pretty cheap too. You can do a lot worse with Chinese food, and I'm guessing it doesn't get much better than this for the Lone Star State. Not the best I've had, but hits all the points as far as authenticity is concerned. Staff service is average, but I still left a nice tip because they'll appreciate it. We found this place after finding out the Raman restaurant up the street was closed for remodeling. It is located in a shopping center just south of Belt Line/Main next to a reflexology place. When we entered you could see roasted ducks hanging as well as the bbq pork. They told us to seat ourselves so we found a booth. The restaurant was generally clean, and had a lot of tables. There were even some larger tables that fit 8-10 people. The menu was vast, and the prices were reasonable. A server came to take out order as soon as we sat down. Then another within a minute. They seemed annoyed. I tried the roast pork and the duck. The dishes were okay enough to come back. They only take CASH! I get it, but it is inconvenient. This place is okay at best. Due to a family dinner, I came here; however, I was thoroughly disappointed. The moment I walked into the restaurant, I couldn't identify the smell at first, but it was overbearing and pungent. After a few more whiffs, I identified it as straight lard. Granted, crispy pork skin and duck were hanging at the rear entrance of the restaurant; but I've been to a few places that had the same interior design, and they did not reek. Now onto the food, I ordered the Szechuan Chicken. However, despite it being labeled "spicy," they used bell peppers. Yes, bell peppers in a so called Chinese Szechuan meal. For the love of God, how could they use the same peppers Charlie White, aka moist critical, can eat with ease in a spicy dish? Not only was it a disappointment heat wise, the portions were for a child. For an $11 meal, I would expect to get more chicken than barely 5 thinly slices of chicken and some scraps. Speaking of the dish, it should've been labeled "Stir-fried radish and oops- chicken spilled over from another dish." There was 5x more radish than chicken, which is disappointing. Now onto the service, which sadly is not a redeeming feature of the restaurant. I only got 2 refills of water there the entire time, even though I drank the entire cup the minute they gave it to me. The other time they refilled my cup was when it was empty for 20 minutes, and we were about to leave. The only pleasant part about my experience was the rice. And that's not saying much, considering I had the douse it in soy sauce and chili oil to make up for the bland chicken. Overall, I do not recommend coming to this place. To me, the profit margins they are making is huge considering the amount of work and food they are giving to you. The only reason I am giving this one extra star is because my brother enjoyed his meal. Though, that's not saying much considering he is easily satisfied with Asian cuisine.
