Im a landlord with a bed bug issue and First Choice Exterminator's are refusing to write in their report language that they both verbally and texted to me, and verbally told the tenant. They insist that legally they wont put anything on paper about what needs or even should occur for the tenants issue to be resolved, but they had no issue telling me over the phone and via text what needed to happen for the issue to be resolved. They decided the word recommend was more appropriate, Verbiage like "we recommend that the tenant do X", but over the phone and text they tell me the tenant needs to do X. Best of they did'nt even want to say why they recommend the tenant do X. Wow, I hope the next time my wife recommends me to take out the garbage vs asks me to. I have been dealing with First Choice for over 6 months as my landlord has hired them to deal with the rats that are living in our attic and walls. They have come multiple times to the house (my guess is 10+), to put up traps, tell our maintenance workers where holes are, etc. And we still have rats that are keeping my roommate and me up ALL NIGHT. First Choice seems to have an excuse for everything whenever we ask why we still have rats and why nothing is being accomplished. They talk in circles and I repeat, WE STILL HAVE RATS. The following has happened during our time working together, and we still have the same problems: *We have been told it's not rats because 'rats don't make noise' and it must be something else. Even though we have found dead rats and SEEN the rats. Also, I had to point out that if it is in fact something else, as an exterminator it is THEIR JOB to get rid of it. *WE had to suggest they look under the house because rats are in the walls - they had only been checking the ceiling. After SO LONG, shouldn't a professional company know to look EVERYWHERE? There was indeed a rats nest under the house when they finally looked. *First Choice has come to the house to 'just check things out.' When we told the worker that he needed to put down new traps, he claimed he didn't have any with him. After talking to my landlord who called his boss to complain, he SUDDENLY had traps to use. Please don't lie to me. I'd like to be able to recommend these guys, but since rats are STILL keeping us up at night after MONTHS - and First Choice continuously wastes our time, coming to our house and not accomplishing anything, I recommend you go somewhere else. read more

The GREATEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I called and spoke with Marisol (she handles most of the calls) and explained to her my situation with bed bugs. My wife and I had been experiencing bites in the middle of the night. My wife was being bitten often. I was concerned and Marisol was so sweet and patient, attentive to my questions and concerns. She explained how the process works but that the most recommended approach was to do an initial inspection of the house. To make sure that it truly was bed bugs and not anything else. She set me up with an appointment on Monday morning (I was calling on a Friday) The price was very reasonable ($75 for the inspection) Come Monday, the inspector came and inspected the house. Checked the beds, the walls, etc. In conclusion, he found nothing that could of related the bites to Bed Bugs. There was no evidence. My wife was not to convinced but because she was frustrated with the whole biting that she was having a hard time sleeping. So she wanted something done quick. The inspector told her that he would not sell her a product if he knew we didn't need it. But my wife still insisted on the fumigation even though there was no evidence of B.B. The inspector left information with steps to follow prior to fumigation and informed her to call them once we were ready. One night, around 3am we both woke up after feeling an irritating itch. I got up and turned the lights on and looked around my bed and found (to our surprise) a bug that looked like a mosquito. I grabbed a tissue and grabbed it, squishing it, to see blood coming out of it. I took pictures of it That same morning I called Marisol and told her what happened and asked her if I could email the photos I took. Long story short, it was confirmed that it was a mosquito. I needed an exterminator for one of my rental units and I needed someone to check out some bugs quickly since my tenants were fed up about some bugs . Anyway, I called this place and they were quick to give me an estimate and time frame. They came out when they said they would and they even called me before they showed up. I liked that because I didn't spend time waiting for them. The guy, I believe his name was Ray, shows up and he knows his bug game. He quickly identified the type of bug and started assessing different sources. Cool - kill the bugs, my man! We made a deal that he would come back the next day and kill these little M. Effers. Ray comes back and quickly does something inside the unit. I didn't follow him around to see what he did, but turns out that the bugs were still there the next day. My tenants called me yelling and complaining again! I had to call Ray back up and was like yo' homie you need come back here and kill these bugs. He seemed surprised that the bugs were still there! He ran some tests by putting some traps outside the unit to see if they were coming from a specific location. He found that they were outside as well. Ray came back the next day and I requested that he spray the Sh*t out the unit. Lawn, walls, doors, outside, etc. He was cool enough to work with me. His customer service was excellent! He wanted to make sure that I was satisfied so he spent quite some time catching all the corners and spraying outside where these bugs were hanging out! Finally, bugs were dead. I was satisfied after the second try, but I could have saved a lot of time and money if the bugs were exterminated the first time around. It's the beginning of a beautiful, yet unfortunately needed relationship. When my contractor gave us a "free fridge" for our garage we were shocked to check in a month later and see if crawling w/ roaches. NEVER taking a free fridge again. First Choice sprayed our garage. That means that I don't have any new ones, and all the old ones have already healed. Amazing. They have a 30-day guarantee, which is comforting since the bazillion eggs that were laid before my place was treated will probably hatch eventually. My tech (Jerry?) was knowledgeable and explained the life cycle of the flea to me. Pretty impressive to have someone who may as well have been a SME. When I returned home after several hours (you can't re-enter for 4 hours), it surprisingly smelled quite pleasant inside -- added bonus. We had the misfortune of finding our apartment infested with bed bugs and First Choice had good reviews so I called them. They scheduled a technician to come out within a couple of days and gave us guidelines on what to do before they came and were very patient with all my questions. The price was good as this is an expensive problem and we were moving in less than a month anyway, wanted the bed bug treatment so we didn't take the bugs along with us. We prepared our place for Ray and he did a thorough job both times. We did have to be out of the apartment for at least four hours after treatment to allow it to air and there was a bit of a chemical smell and furniture all upside down which was difficult but we stopped seeing bites and bug stains almost immediately. Unfortunately we were still seeing bed bugs a couple of weeks after second treatment so while thorough with our furniture etc we figured the problem is most likely IN the building. We had an inspection which found the problem was still there and the First Choice people were very helpful and supportive. We moved house and did not take any furniture from the affected room. First Choice sent out a technician for an inspection to our new place and it's bug free. I'm sure if we stayed in our old apartment they would have been very helpful in treating the issue 100%. I had high expectations for First Choice, as I was referred to them by a family member and read all the great reviews. I called two weeks ago and set up the appointment for this past Friday. I had additional questions so my name and number was passed on to a technician that called me within a couple hours, very impressed. On the day of my appointment I called to confirm and to my surprise I was not on the appointment schedule . Recalled the conversation I had with the representative on the phone and even had the voice mail saved from the technician that called me. The service rep searched and called the technician to confirm our conversation. She informed me that because the technician or myself did not call her back the appointment was not made. She called back to inform me that all of the technicians were full for the day and would not be able to get anyone out until the following week. Find a bigger company. Its really unfortunate since I actually had a good experience with them 3years ago. Called them again having no doubt that it will be as good. House is still infested with fleas even after the second spray. The technician, Ray, that came to spray turns out to be the owner of the company. It took him less than 15minutes to spray the inside and outside of the house (3000sf house w a 7500sf lot). Called and asked for the owner several times with no call backs (didnt know at this time that the tech was the owner). Finally when Ray called a week and a half later, he said its past the 30day now and he wants to charge 175 for another spray. He said thats with a 100 discount. When we finally found a bed bug (after weeks of bites and denial that it was truly bed bugs), our immediate reaction was to turn to Yelp for help. FCE was the third on the list (and consequently the third to be called), but they were the ONLY COMPANY that took the time to not only set up a VERY IMMEDIATE appointment, but David spent 45 minutes discussing and answering our questions over the phone. Unlike roaches or rats, bed bugs are an encroachment on your "private" and "personal" spaces, as they not only are IN bed with you, but EATING you (your blood, specifically) as well. We have an 18 month old, and they were very understanding, and reassuring that the chemicals they use would not hurt our son; AND were even willing to set up an appointment to treat our house when they were normally not working to accommodate us finding someone to watch him while we treated!!! Even the technician (apologies for not remembering his name) spent some time before the treatment to inform me on how bed bugs infest, and how they are eradicated. these folks are really nice but i got screwed on the yelp deal. i bought a $50 yelp coupon for $30 which was s'posed to give me a $20 savings. that was the reason i went with this service. however when the guy got here he said that he would only accept it if i went with them for the service, not for the inspection. didn't say anything about that in the fine print. yelp refunded my money without any problem, but like i said, i went with this company because of the discount. didn't get a discount. and i ended up not going with them for the service since my landlord stepped in and said they needed to use their own contractor. pretty disappointed all the way around. read more
