These guys have it together! I had a blowout on a Friday night driving up I-35 from San Antonio, and took my car to Round Rock Honda the next morning for replacement. The car is less than a year old with less than 15k miles, and the tire should have been replaced under warranty, but that was not offered to me. Three hundred and twenty eight dollars later, my car still didn't feel right on drive and sounded like the spin cycle on a washing machine when speed was above 35-40 mph. I drove light for a week and took it into First Texas Honda the following Friday (first chance), where I met with my service advisor, Anthony Herrera. From start to finish my experience was absolutely superb in every way. When Anthony called mid-day with the diagnosis, he said I needed a new bearing. Bearings typically run about $600, but luckily the Honda rep was there and told them to cover it under warranty. What I thought was going to cost me several hundo in addition to the tire expense, ended up costing me about $40 for a routine oil change that I had also requested (Round Rock charges 69.95, btw). It was right around my bday, so I couldn't have asked for a better gift than keeping some green in my pocket (hehe). The only bad news was that they were gonna have to get me in a loaner for the weekend until the part came in, which was not a problem in my mind. The Continental Cafe is an added beni. Without hesitation, I would enthusiastically recommend First Texas Honda to anyone. And, if you need repairs, Anthony Herrera is your guy; outstanding service!! Everytime I move the Honda Financial Services charges me a Travis County Property Tax. I wouldn't recommend leasing a Honda as their Finance company Honda Financial Services has an ugly reputation for sneaky moves. Search the reviews. Read them. There's hundreds of people who posted their lease finance experience with Honda Financial Services. I love my Honda Civic. It's amazing that moving over two exits my bill went up from $307 to $314 because I relocated from Tallwood Ave (near Steck Ave.) down to exits to Duval across from the Domain. I've changed my address again (see the attachment) this time the payment stayed at $314 and I was charged the money Travis County would lose for the two months left on my lease for moving out of the county. I dropped the add-on pkg. of Honda Care and my payments still stayed at $314. I'm guessing this is the number Honda Financial services wants to keep. They will not provide a FIXED monthly payment but a variable that goes up according to where you move in Austin. When you talk to a dealership they separate themselves and say that Honda Financial Services is a different entity. When you call Honda Financial Services it's like dealing with a credit card company, hold 45 minutes, let me talk to my manager, oh you're in Texas was can charge a monthly property tax on a car in your county. Came in to the Service Center as my car had a problem starting up. The first thing wrong with this place is they have a $255 service fee for diagnosing an issue I knew I already had. This fee can only be dropped if you buy the service that you came in for, which put me in the predicament of throwing $255 down the drain and going through the hassle of finding some other place that can replace my starter or pay their OUTRAGEOUS fee and get the service fee waived. I ended up buying the service from First Texas Honda and paid DOUBLE what I probably could've elsewhere (after they added some extra fees that I wasn't aware of). It was also really hard to communicate with the service representatives so that made the experience even worse. Overall, I can't help but to feel hard done by and suggest that IF YOU NEED SOME WORK DONE ON YOUR CAR, STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS SCAMMING/OVERCHARGING PLACE. I've been using First Texas Honda as my go to for service for over two years. Over the course of two years, they have been my least favorite place to get an appointment from. Why did I keep using them? Largely due to my car being under warranty. However, with my car's warranty expired I figured I would give an honest review of this place. Timing: There is no slower service center in all of Austin. If you are two minutes late to your scheduled appointment time, they will push you into "first come first serve". Which means you'll wait four hours for an oil change. Even a simple oil change takes 1.5-2 hours for them to do. For anything more complex, they will keep your car for hours, if not days. I've had multiple repairs where my car took days to get back when they had the parts in shop. They treat this like its normal to operate this way. Service: They're so busy that they don't really care about your car. In three years, I've had to call them back four times because they overlooked something, or did something wrong. They've done things to my car that are purely negligent, like putting double the psi in the tires that the manufacturer specifies. Talk to a manager, they couldn't care less. The icing on the cake is this absurd "advisor" structure. At any given time there are 5-10 different people sitting at desks doing nothing. If I have a question, I have to wait 10 minutes for the one service advisor to come around to tell me something that anyone should be able to. You have to wait when you drop off your car, pick up, have any questions, or frankly any time human intervention is needed. This adds up to an extra 30-60 minutes each service that is a waste of my time. All in all, find somewhere else to get your car serviced. Don't be swooned by the free coffee and snacks. This dealer doesn't care about anything except your money. read more

I must say it's a pain for a middle aged women to walk into the service department with car issues, I just don't know one thing about my car, it's engine, or how to fix it? As nervous as I was and very hesitant, a man walked up to me, he was a very tall man, and greeted me with a smile and told me that he would make sure that my vehicle is safe for my family because he cares. It was nice to experience a kind person who's #1 priority is safely, and not money! The Salesperson was great. The car is excellent. Was 12,200 car. I was not verbally told the warranties were 5,300 dollars and feel humiliated that my loan is 18,800 after putting down 1200 on a 12k car. During that warranty process I was repeatedly distracted by finance person with side talk and the total was not said. I felt a bit conned. Exiting the finance office he said, "Do not eat the yellow snow." Man, I feel like an idiot. I had a great experience with the salesperson I worked with on my 2020 CRV Hybrid, and I had what i thought was a pleasant experience with the finance folks as well. Fast forward to a rock leaving a huge crack on my windshield about a month later. I wasn't worried though, because finance had convinced me to buy the extra warranty because it included windshield coverage. They convinced me by saying "if you have to replace your windshield, you may as well buy another car, that's how expensive it is, because of all the computers." So I dropped my car off at the service department without a care in the world. Well, it has been almost 3 weeks and my car is still sitting there. Why? Because Dave in finance insists I did not buy windshield coverage, and he says he reviewed the recording of our conversation and did not make that promise. Um, I'd really rather have someone else other than the person in the room review the recording. I have been calling them each day for almost 3 weeks and cannot get anyone to call me back. At one point, a manager called me, said he would review the footage by the end of the day and call me back. That was 6 days ago now. I can't get a call back from ANYONE. This is absolutely the worst customer service experience I have EVER experienced at a car dealership, especially after I just dropped a huge amount of money with them. After you sign the papers, they could care less about you. I would not buy from them again and caution anyone who does to be extremely wary of the process. My wife and I were in the market for a new car, and we had been looking at Civics and Elements. I stopped by First Texas Honda on my way home from work, just to kick the tires and see the prices. I like the fact that it is in my neighborhood, not out on the motor mile, and it is very convenient to me, since it is on my way home. I met a salesman named Gary B. A very nice guy, who knows his Hondas. We sat in a gold civic, and I was immediately impressed with the solid and safe feel the car has. I was worried about me fitting in the car. I'm only six-two but it is like 5ft of torso and 1 foot 2 of legs. So I don't fit in some cars and trucks. I fit fine in the Civic, and Gary who is also a tall guy got in the back seat behind me to show that it has plenty of backseat room. It was Gary who introduced me to the Honda Fit. He had one on the lot that was already sold but he took me to sit in it. I loved it, I texted my wife and said, "I LOVE THE FIT." She wrote back and said, "NO FREAKIN FIT!" Of course that is what we ended up buying. We had to go to San Marcos to find one though. (See review of San Marcos Honda). My wife and I went back late Saturday afternoon to look once again at Civics and to see if they had any Fit's available. Gary wasn't available to they sent some other guy out to deal with us. I don't want to use this guys name, so I will change it to something......lets see......Oh I know I will call him TOOL. We asked him questions about the Gold Civic I had sat in and asked him if he had any FITs coming in. He said not until September but, we could go inside right now put a $500 deposit down and reserve one. "That way you and your husband can relax and stop shopping." Well I may be old fashioned TOOL, but don't try to close my wife when I am standing right there, AND STOP STARING AT HER BOOBS!. I mean they are nice, I stare at em all the time, but I'm standing right there. Well, TOOL told us, "The sooner we get it ordered, the quicker it will come in." Which is a lie, the FITs were coming in anyway, whether we reserved one or not. Plus he added, "It is the only way you are going to get one." Which was also a lie because less than an two hours later we were driving around in our brand new FIT, that we got from a dealer in San Marcos. I guess the phones lines from First Texas Honda don't go all the way down to San Marcos. They probably stop in Buda or something. Overall my experience was very good, maybe this TOOL guy was just having a bad day. Or maybe he is really just a TOOL. I dunno. I amhopeful the service side is good, because it is likely where I will take my fit. It is just so convenient. Have you noticed I like saying the word FIT? Check in photos to see pictures of our FIT. This dealership epitomizes the sleazy car salesman stereotype, and I warn everyone not to do business here. They will scam you for every penny they can, and do it with a car salesman smile. My wife took in our Honda Odyssey for a routine maintenance and oil change for which we have a Honda Care comprehensive Vehicle Service Contract for. The contract is the most extensive you can purchase, covering everything from oil changes to all necessary maintenance. She comes home nearly crying, and tells me she felt pressured into some "cautionary" maintenance she should have done to keep the van in "tip top shape". They charge her over $500 for it, despite the Honda computer analysis printout stating that everything is green and good. This service department decided to scam my wife with unnecessary maintenance just to make a quick buck. I called the Service Manager listed on the feedback card, Cody Penna, to complain. At first he informed me that he would take care of it. He said the work was actually covered by our plan, and that he would refund us for it. I was happy with the resolution until he called me back informing me that wasn't the case. I told him without a reimbursement for this bogus work, I would never do business there again. I hope the $500 they scammed from us was worth the loss of all our future business, and a warning to all of you to avoid them for fear of the same. read more

I had a great buying experience at First Texas Honda. Bahadir greeted my mother and I right when we walked into the door with a friendly smile and handshake. He was extremely helpful and courteous when we were discussing the Honda Civic I was interested in. We took a test drive and he was able to explain all the features that came in that model. I was debating between a Mazda and the Honda hatchback and Bahadir really helped in showing the similarities and differences. There was no pressure to purchase and once I did decide to buy the process was smooth. I was pre-approved for an auto loan with my credit union who had told me First Texas Honda was a preferred dealership and John in the financing department kept me informed of all available options and that I could change my mind on warranties they offered which would allow me to research them more. Since they are a preferred dealership it meant that my auto loan terms would be honored and that they would work directly with my credit union to finalize everything which makes the whole process less daunting. Trudy from the accessories department gave me information on what they had to offer with no pressure to make decisions today and was very knowledgeable. The time flew by while my mom and I waited in the very nice coffee bar area and everyone we met there was extremely friendly. From the beginning to the end, Bahadir made sure that I was informed about everything the dealership offered and what I would be getting if I were to purchase from them. I was only intending to test drive the car today but I ended up buying the Civic and was extremely happy with everything. A year ago April/May, my '95 Accord didn't pass the emissions (low idle) test. Took to another shop, and they said "well put in new plugs, 140 bucks, that'll do it". Took BACK for retest, failed low idle. I figured, I'll try Honda. Took to FTH, dealt with Jack Wright. Said "reason I'm here--my car failed emission test". They diagnosed as 'o 2' sensor, 531. I thought this irrealistic. Took to my local service station, they ran the emissions test. It passed. I went back a few weeks later and asked for a refund (of their 'diagnostic fee') they said I needed to solve my problem. I was there quite some time and they brought in mechanic (Nick Flood) who had diagnosed (and had some not nice comments), and after I spoke with the mechanic, and told him I'd taken to another shop, and it passed emissions, and after he powwow'ed with Jack Wright, the initial service manager, Caleb Reynolds, the head of service department, I was told no refund. Later, a few weeks later, I called the dealer and asked for the head man's email, Jim Olmstead, GM, the switchboard girl said 'oh we can't give THAT out. You can send it to ME and I'll see he gets it. I never received a response. So 1.5 years later I'm posting this. read more

Less than three weeks later I come in for an oil change and the shop gives me a bill totaling over 1800$ including brakes pad, tune up ect. I took the bill to the sales man who sold me my car and they told me the shop always gives a list of problems. He wouldn't fix any of the issues and they just basically said the shop is does fraud. I remember the man told me cars are expensive too. (Like I've never owned one) well I can tell you out of the 5 cars I've owned I never had 1800 in issues within three weeks let alone at all. I was in the unfortunate circumstance of having a puncture in the sidewall of my tire on my newly purchased Honda Odyssey as we were in Colorado on a road trip. Not to worry - I had bought the extended warranty to cover roadside issues like blown tires through Continental Auto Group. Just to be sure, I checked with the service advisor a couple days ahead of time who assured me they could look up the warranty through Honda with no issue. When I got to the local dealership here in Denver, they told me the bad news on the tire and I informed them of the warranty I had with Honda. They told me they could find nothing with Honda and asked if there was a warranty number they could call. I called First Texas Honda to see if I could make headway: Call 1: Tried to reach service. Reached someone in the service department and told them the issue. Was forwarded to a random persons voicemail. Call 2: Tried to reach service again. Phone was clearly picked up and hung up. Call 3: Tried to reach service yet again. Was forwarded to the scheduling line. Scheduler told me that Sales should be able to help me. Forwarded me back to Sales reception where I repeated the issue again. Got a snotty "so you want to talk to Sales?" And was forwarded to a random sales rep. Sales rep said he didn't know anything about warranties and forwarded me to finance. Dumped to yet another random voicemail. So now I'm forced to pay an extra $200 on a new tire - fortunately the fine folks at Schomp Honda here in Denver were kind enough to waive the labor for me - treating me as a valued customer when I'm just some guy off the street. The fact is, you are not a valued customer at First Texas like they tell you in the sales process, you are just a close to their sales department, just a case number to their service department. Honda makes great cars and products...it's a shame that they are so poorly represented by a complete lack of service when it's needed the most. I don't know if Howdy Honda is better service for readers interested in a Honda vehicle, but one can be sure it's hard to do much worse than First Texas. read more

Really disappointed that I spent all day going back-and-forth in email with a sales person about a truck. Something that's nonnegotiable for me is that it must be a non-smoker vehicle. I was assured it was a Nonsmoker vehicle. So, I drive almost 40 minutes in traffic after work to go look and open the door to the truck. I sat on it and automatically could smell the smoke and the smoke treatment odor. I left. I could still smell it on my Coat on the way home. Why do they think we're not gonna notice?? read more

This review is for their service department. I just got back from this place after having dropped off my car. First thing I noticed was that they didn't make an appointment for me and told me to just come on in. I think I would've preferred them making an appointment for me. So I went in, dropped off my car and headed on to their waiting area which has a cafe called The Continental Cafe. This cafe is complimentary for all Honda customers and they have a barista that can make you a variety of cold and hot gourmet coffee beverages. They also offer a variety of snacks and other soft drinks. They also offer doggie treats if you happen to bring your dog with you. They have a kiddie corner and an area with a large TV (which proved to be my savior as I had to wait for over 3 hours!) Solving the issue with my new car apparently took a lot longer than anticipated, so after having waited 3 hours, I asked one of the service repair specialists for an update; they said my issue would take another few hours. He however offered their free shuttle service to take me back home. This shuttle service will drop you home, and then pick you up before 5 if your car is ready. This is a great service that they offer, and I really appreciated it! Not bad, not bad at all. read more

Whoa, I was blown away by the size of this place. I went as it was the only place left open late on Saturday that was a State Certified Emissions Inspection provider. I parked in the service express bay, and was told I would have a 1 hr wait and that I could enjoy the free coffee bar in the building across the way. I should have known this was a different kind of car dealership when I saw the very LARGE sparkling clean bays where the cars were being fixed. When they say free coffee bar, they mean a staffed espresso bar stocked with flavorings, milk alternatives, and pastries, and yes it's all free. I had a wonderful iced sugar free hazelnut soy latte. While I sipped on my drink I took in the waiting area with free Wi-Fi, the large children's play area, a stage, yes there were of course cars. I had a great conversation with one of the staff who let me know that this Honda Dealership was the largest in the world, that it had 100 lifts in the service area, and that the family had owned it since 1970 something, and also owned Austin Subaru, and several other car dealerships, and yes, he was part of the Honda Employee Band that played on the stage. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I have a few issues to figure out on my car before it will pass the Emissions test. I come from a Honda family, and all the cars I have ever owned previously were Honda made. Thus, I have been through several different Honda service places, and this by far was the best waiting and service experience I have had. read more

Short version: When shopping for a new car today, I learned at First Texas Honda that their "Haggle-Free Pricing" simply means that you have no wiggle room for negotiation and will therefore end up paying more than you should. I bought a new Honda today, but not from here... Long version: My wife and I went shopping for a new car today and went to First Texas Honda first (heh) because they had more new CR-Vs (or VCRs, as I call them) than any other dealership in the area. I was told that they could not budge on the sticker price. I held my tongue until the trade-in offer for my car came back insultingly low --my car that had been well-kept (with documentation, no less) was offered the equivalent of a KBB "poor" condition rating. I asked for a perfectly reasonable $500 more for the trade-in. They would not budge, so I walked out. I've never paid sticker price for a car, and I'm not about to start now. I should mention that the people were all pleasant enough, I'm in no mood to be a schmuck who pays more for products than I should. We then drove up north to Round Rock Honda. I told the sales manager that I wanted to look at new CR-Vs but was unwilling to pay sticker price and simply asked if he was willing to continue a conversation with me. He said yes, wrote down a number much better than First Texas Honda had settled on AND offered $700 more for my car's trade-in. Summary: While everyone I dealt with at First Texas Honda was friendly enough, I suggest they rethink this "Haggle-Free Pricing" strategy. When I picked it up the cleaning job was pitiful, but whatever I had a new car. I put low miles on my vehicle and always get it serviced at the dealership but their maintenance system needs some serious work. There is no way to get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. I don't know whether to blame the Service Employees or the system, but no other dealership I have been to is as horrible as this. I arrived at 1225, punctual for my 1230 appointment. And be 1:00 pm I was still sitting in my car waiting to be CHECKED IN. Several employees came up to me and said oh you need to wait for your service consultant. For whatever reason they assign you to someone. And if that person is double booked or busy, you are just screwed. My service guys name was Jonathan. Don't know if it was his negligence or the entire process. I am very disappointed on the time suck and slowness. To top it off I never even saw him because I complained on how long it was taking. Just bought my first car from First Texas Honda! As far as car dealerships go, you could do a whole lot worse. The general consensus on car salesmen aside, I didn't find the experience to be anywhere near as bad as I've heard. Eric Paulson went out of his way to be personable and informative, and was a very interesting person. Mike Condrey gave me an exhaustive list of warranty options. I did find the process to take a little longer than it should have, especially since I had a VBC in hand, but nothing too bad. And the place was very professional. A nice coffee bar, even a kid's room. One thing I will add, for the newbies like me out there: if it says "No Haggle," it means no haggle. They will not budge, cash in hand or not.
