My starter was replaced for about $1000 last September. The warranty expired September 29 of this year and the starter no longer works [October 28]. After two in person visits to the service department, it is confirmed they will not replace it and I am completely out of luck. This was a brand new OEM replacement starter that should have lasted a decade and barely lasted a year. Fair play to First Honda since the 1 year warranty was technically honored by them, I guess. Having said that, there really is no benefit at all to go to this dealership for a service repair because of the high cost and this kind of customer treatment. I would like to point out 1 week after they fixed the starter in September, I had to get it towed back to the dealership because they did not fasten the wiring harness tight enough. First Honda comped the cost of the towing. First Honda has lost a customer for life at this point and I will go out of my way to not recommend the First Honda dealership in the future. read more

Back in August 2019 I bought a new Honda Civic EX hatchback new off the lot and as soon as I started driving it after getting it home it started having an issue with the warning lights on the dashboard all coming on at the same time. Sometimes it would happen as soon as I started the car and other times I would get a few miles down the road and they would all come on. It was sporadic and I was really scared because I thought that I had bought a lemon. I really liked the car and I didn't want anything to be wrong with it and after communicating the problem to First Texas Honda and their team the car was fixed and now works perfectly. They picked up and even dropped the car back off to me because my work schedule prevented me from going down there to pick it up since I live far away. Buying a car is a pain in the "you know what," we were so happy that the stars aligned to put us with Jesse Sims at First Texas Honda. After looking at a few other models at other dealerships, we stumbled upon a car that fit our requirements at their establishment. After sending in an inquiry that the car was still available, Ana Angel quickly reached out to us to set up a time to take it for a test drive, and to put us in contact with Jesse, who also quickly called out to introduce himself. Bonus points for this dealership not keeping banking hours like so many these days! With our four kids, the thought of fighting the crowds on a weekend at a dealership was giving us panic attacks. First Texas Honda had a kids room, snacks and coffee for guests that certainly helped keep them entertained while we conducted our business with them. From the receptionists to the manager, this dealership really blew our socks off with their service and friendliness. But more on Jesse, he was super professional and transparent, even pointing out a few cosmetic things in the vehicle we may have otherwise not noticed until after making the purchase. Vehicles that accommodate a family of our size are so difficult to find for a decent price, even pre-owned vans and suvs. I appreciate the fact that Jesse has a low pressure approach to selling, and that was a huge factor in our decision to make that purchase. After we decided to get everything in motion, the dealership offered us a financing deal and warranty, which we had already worked out with our Credit Union, but also did not pressure us into taking their deal. I can't fault them for offering these service add-one to earn themselves more on the sale, but I can certainly praise the fact that they accepted no for an answer. Other dealerships I have dealt with in the past always make that such a hassle! Even after everything was signed and waiting on the bank to send over drafting instructions, Jesse stayed in contact via text and phone to make sure we weren't waiting around for the next step. I really just can't say enough nice things about this experience. My husband and I bought our car here, and we got what we consider to be a fair price. Probably because we bought the vehicle from a friend who worked there at the time, but now he even says the place is going downhill. Recently our Accord with Sensing stopped dead in the middle of traffic causing us to almost get hit with no other vehicle in front of us. We took the car to the dealership with dash cam evidence. We were given no indication when we might get the car back, but we figured it might be a hot minute, which was fine. We were given no loaner car. Classy. The car was checked for updates to the software, and errors. Nothing found, one of the techs asked to drive it. We gave permission. The next day my husband got a text message saying the car was ready to be picked up. After driving the car for all of 60 miles, we were told that the car was working as intended, and to come get it. If my phone isn't working, I get annoyed. If my computer isn't working, same. But this is my vehicle. It malfunctioned. This is the safety of me and my family. If that is the functionality of the 2016 Honda Accord Sensing Package, then it needs to be recalled. But this review isn't about the car. It's about the dealership. When we picked up the car, nobody said a word to us about the state of the vehicle. Just that it was ready to be picked up, and it was in the back lot. Except it wasn't. We spent 15 minutes hunting for our vehicle with an employee, who had better things to do. To be fair, we did too, but neither we nor he could find our car. We finally did. It had been parked on a dusty lot after being shoddily washed, so it was dirtier than when we brought it in. Even worse, sitting on the dash was a flat key. They had made a copy of our key and left it sitting on our dashboard out in the open. The employee who had been helping us hunt for our car was struck speechless. Actually, literally speechless. He was so embarrassed that he kind of ran off. I don't blame him. I don't know if the car was locked, because we were using the key and alarm to find the car. Upon finding our vehicle, we went inside to complain. Again. We were told that we would get a call back. I've called several times since then. I've shown up twice. I've never been able to speak with anyone of consequence. My vehicle has since done the same thing on two different occasions. The next instance we're contacting a lawyer, because three times is a charm, and you couldn't get your act together enough to reply to your phone calls, and have a manager on duty that can take care of complaints. read more

We bought another Honda here because my 06 Honda was totaled by a drunk driver (boo!) and once again, we were pleased with everything. The last sales guy I worked with isn't here anymore, so we worked with Howard Shaw, who was very helpful and laid back - no pressure whatsoever. (Ask for him!) He was able to answer all my questions about the features on the car I was looking at - more so than any other salesperson I've worked with. I really appreciated it because I knew little about minivans and their features. We got a great deal, they adjusted the brakes before purchase, and the extended powertrain and AC warranty was very reasonable. It's good to know they anticipate our car running to a quarter of a million miles. The whole sales/finance process was fairly painless as well. Great coffee bar and snacks, and everyone was cool about our kids being underfoot the whole time. If either of our Hondas die, we will return, but I suspect it's more likely a collision will require car shopping again in the future. read more

Horrible service department. Appointment at 6:15 am. Service advisor wasn't even there. Instead of letting someone else take care of me, their concern was finding him. As if I care who the service advisor is for an oil change. 2 hours for an oil change!! They advertise that they have 100 service bays. Doesn't really matter if you don't have enough technicians to take care of your customers. You just have a lot of space to store cars. Why would anyone buy a car here if this is the service that follows. Absolutely zero respect for the customer's time. Definitely won't be back. What an unfortunate change. After my last experience with First Texas Honda Service, and David Hill I returned once again this year when my battery started doing the exact same thing as a year ago. I figured since Honda offers their great 100-month warranty, this would be no issue. WRONG. Turns out, because the manager had offered to split the cost of the battery with me last time, I do not get any benefits of the warranty. That's right - a managers "nice gesture" is going to once again cost me out of pocket. This was never disclosed, discussed or even mentioned in our last conversation. I am literally blown away by such shady practices. As a manager, if I knew that my offer would cause a customer to lose out on a future benefit, I would never do it and not disclose the information. I would also understand when they came back with their brand new battery a year later and don't have any warranty, that I should rectify the situation. So now, I'm out the cost of 1.5 batteries within 2 years. This marks the end of my relationship with First Texas Honda and I will be sure to tell everyone I know to always avoid their service department and their shady business practices. read more

Poor service, worthless extended warranty, bad experience overall - stay away. We brought our less than 4 years old Honda Pilot Touring bought new at First Texas Honda with an additional extended warranty guaranteeing us that it would cover most issues that happens until the warranty ends. The car has less than 50k miles, been gently used. AC started to act-up working on and off with the fan making excessive noise. Window trims started to get loose. Back windshield wiper sprayer stopped working. First thing - do not trust their sales advisors on purchasing extended warranty. Lesson learned, nothing seems to be covered. I will know better next time and ask them some numbers as to how much claim they cover on repairs. The advisor scared us on the cost of replacing one of the many electronic units that can fail, reality is nothing else seems to be covered. The service advisor suggested that we did not know how to properly use the AC. That trims could not be re-attached and needed to be replaced. That fixing the back windshield wiper sprayer would require replacing the roof liner to be fixed (a $2000 estimate). Adding on top of that some fluid refill even though the car has been regularly serviced there and was not due for regular service. As mentioned above, nothing covered by the extended warranty. This is a $40k+ car for which within the first 4 years is costing more than 5% of the original cost in repairs. The dealership might not be responsible for the manufacturing quality of the car, maybe the car is well built and they need to recover their maintenance cost on the few lemons they sell. The responsiveness and attitude of the service advisor was frustrating, suggesting that we were the cause of the issues we were reporting. He even questioned our ability to use the A/C. I seriously hope that the GM or CM of first Texas Honda will get back to us so we can amend this review - unless this happens, please be aware and stay away. read more

On Monday, 19 Oct, we called the dealership to make a deal on a new car. The salesman confirmed the car would be arriving on 21Oct and was available. We made the deal, received a signed purchase order, completed credit app (to which we were approved) and were told the deal was done. We asked the salesman to verify the car was marked as sold and were assured everything was in order. As part of the deal we were to have additional accessories installed and the vehicle would be available to pick up on Friday or Saturday 22-23 Oct. On 21 Oct, the day the vehicle was scheduled to arrive, we attempted to make contact with our salesman to ensure the vehicle arrived on schedule. Our attempts were ignored. On 22 Oct, we attempted again and were told the salesman was off but would make contact with us first thing today. Once again the salesman failed to make contact. Finally we're able to get him on the phone only to be hold the car was accidentally sold. He, nor the sales manager we had fealty with could explain and refused to make things right, other than to offer us a different color at the same price. Note the vehicle in question is a difficult color to obtain and this vehicle was being purchased for our son. He had saved a significant down payment, and has busted his butt to be in a position to do this. Incredibly poor service, even worse recovery. While I understand mistakes happen, there was zero attempt to make things right other than to say, oops sorry. Needless to say we will never use this dealership or any others owned by this auto group. read more

Was told my 11 month old battery wouldn't pass inspection - got it retested for a second opinion elsewhere and the condition is good as new, no replacement needed. Once I turned down the extra repairs I was neglected and abandoned in the waiting area by the service staff. While I didn't buy my new Honda Fit here, I did want to say that I had a really positive experience with the dealership and the sales agent, Kristi F. I test drove two different vehicles and Kristi was helpful during the entire process. I ended up getting a better deal at a different dealership but Kristi did try to work with me to earn my business (even though they say they're "haggle free" - I like to haggle, I can't help it, it's in my blood!). On the flipside, the dealership itself is really clean, large and bright. There's a coffee shop in this joint! Ya know, maybe it works if you're not from this country....I hate that this is still an issue here in America. My partner a 25 yr old black male that just relocated to Austin needing a vehicle. He spoke with someone on the phone (Ricky) earlier that day to discuss his options. He let him know he needed second chance financing, has a down payment ready, and has a letter from job showing income. Ricky talks with manager, Sends him the application, gives him the okay on the vehicle. Some back and forth communicating and he gets the ok to come in, Bring drivers license, letter and proof of residency... we Lyft from South Austin to the dealership over 30 away in traffic with an infant. Obviously getting an okay, saying bring your papers in, we thought the car was ours. In the car Ricky even told my partner his monthly payments. Which was exactly, 20% APR with 4k down on a 22 Honda Accord priced at 35000, & quotes my partner 750 a month(a different story). He desperately needs a vehicle so he said yes, he's on his way.---long story short, we get to dealership, they have him SIGN paperwork, which btw did not add up to the initial monthly payment mentioned but he went forward anyway. At this point the salesman is literally getting the sold papers together, for them to come back and say his offer letter from his job isn't good enough. Then now they need his first check. Now they're asking for 4 months of bank statements. Then they say they need more details on the offered letter. This is after he signs all documents, gives all details, even is discussing getting picked up by a salesman and bringing him back to the dealership in the morning after getting down payment from the bank. Bottom line. They were haggling him. They hustled him and it was unfortunate dealerships still do this. I couldn't consign or be added bc me being on maternity leave that this country cares nothing about and also being told prior my disability from the military isn't good enough. I came anyway bc I just knew things like this could happen. This dealership is unprofessional, misleading, and takes advantage of young hard working Americans. I know for a FACT they would bend over on all fours For Someone who just came to this country (which they have offer letters as proof of income). But let it be a young hard working father and there's nothing they can do. My partner was trying to get a safe and reliable vehicle for his son and this dealership did absolutely everything to insure that he got the run around and hustled. We ended up taking another Lyft with an infant back home in traffic. They didn't even try to work things out. They didn't tell him what he could do to make sure they got him the car. He basically got a pat on the back and a better luck next time buddy out the door. I don't recommend this dealership for anyone young, from this country, has previous credit issues, or a small business owner. This time it is a Honda Pilot EX-L we will use to tow our new T@B teardrop camper trailer as we travel extensively throughout our country in retirement. Coincidentally it was a retired commercial airline pilot, Kevin Siebert, who navigated us through the entire process of choosing our 2019 Pilot, trading in our 2015 CR-V, getting 1.9% financing from Honda, and driving away all within a few hours of first looking around. TIL Came to service department on new Honda faster than expected and no impressed *** Came back to update this review and respond to the dealership. I talked to my mechanic after this incident and he told me that it very easily could have been a manufacturer defect on the tire.
