This review is solely based on service since we never got to eat there. We made a reservation at 11am on a Saturday and 15 mins before our time we got a confirmation text to head over there. Once we got there we waited hour and half till 12:30pm and the front desk kept telling us 15 more minutes. After getting frustrated we ended up leaving. Very very poor customer service. The staff was very friendly. Service was fast and efficient. I had the market hash. The taste of the food was VERY Good. The coffee and morning sunrise juice was excellent. I requested half the potatoes, but the server said theirs was a good ratio so I had it as listed. WAY too many potatoes for me. I had poached eggs on top. One was almost completely hard and the other was better but still over cooked. I have to wonder why the kitchen staff wears masks at all, they were all down around their chins. First time here, September 16. My wife had been here several times. It started our great with the Host seating the four of us promptly. Since the sun was coming into where my wife was sitting I leaned over and drew the shade down. A couple, with two children, sitting at the next table thanked me for doing that. When I asked why, they said they had asked twice for someone to do that twice. That was probably my first clue that I should get up and run. The waiter finally came over and asked for our drink order: two coffee's, one unsweetened tea with lemon and one water. He returned with our drinks and I asked if they had any Splenda or artificial sweetener. He told me he would have to ask. (TRAINING ISSUE). At this time we also asked for more non-flavored coffee creamers. When he finally made it back I was told they had the two types of sugar that were in the caddy. Now I'm thinking, no artificial sweeteners but artificially flavored coffee creamers? Once again, could we please have non-flavored coffee creamers? About ten minutes or longer, my food arrived. Not the entire four top, but my food...and no non-flavored coffee creamers. At this time I noticed that the gentleman sitting by himself, who ordered his food long after us, was eating. I then asked the Host, the only one who seemed to know what he was doing, for some NON-FLAVORED COFFEE CREAMERS...which he brought promptly. Finally the rest of the table got their hot breakfast, unfortunately mine never was. When the waiter brought our checks I was quite surprised that he brought four..one for each of us. (TRAINING ISSUE). We went to pay and the other couple handed the cashier their two checks. She seemed like a deer in the headlights when it came to ringing them up together. 1 star on a Sunday. Apparently every Sunday is crazy packed. Got in at 11:40 and waited 40 minutes to be seated. Once seated, it took another 30+ minutes just to get some water. The water glasses were not regular sized, they were small glasses, maybe kids sized. Maybe they ran out of clean glasses. They ran out of million dollar bacon by the time we could order. The food took so long that we, as 2 adults, killed time by playing with a kids menu. I understand it was busy but our waitress brought us some syrup before any water or food. We can't drink syrup! Really glad to see we now have First Watch here as I've heard good things. I love a good breakfast/brunch so this was right up my alley. They do the yelp waitlist which is nice, so even during busy times you can go ahead and get your spot in line before arriving. Parking was plentiful here when I visited. We didn't really have much of a wait since we used the waitlist and were seated fairly quickly. We tried the seasonal juice which was amazing and I'd recommend. We also got the lemon ricotta pancakes, million dollar bacon, and the seasonal cornbread carnitas. The lemon ricotta pancakes were light and fluffy and well balanced with the lemon. The bacon was also very good. The carnitas lacked flavor so I wouldn't recommend this dish, but the others were great. Nice addition to the area. read more

We have been loyal First Watch customers once it opened in Matthews. Service is always great, the food is always fresh, hot and delicious. We visited their location inn Providence Rd and were waited by an extremely rude waiter. Our experience was less than favorable. The order was wrong and when we told our rude waiter about it, he caught an attitude and basically threw the check at me. I decided to ask for management when we got to the register and this is when things took a positive turn, Naomi came to the rescue. She listened and I I like our waiter, she did not try to tell me "how it was" or shift blame. Naomi was a true professional with REAL customer service knowledge. I walked out happy and determined to give this location another chance. We came back for breakfast a few days later, had a different server and all was back to normal. Great place for everyone no matter what your diet. My wife is vegan and I'm not but we both got something we love. The AM Superfoods Bowl is her favorite but today got the Steel Cut Oatmeal (with Oat milk) and instead of a muffin got the almond butter toast. I got the Belgian Waffle and coffee. Glad to have this close by. The chickichanga is absolutely delicious. The kids love the pancakes. Get in early enough and you won't have to wait, otherwise there is always a long queue. Be sure to get in line with their app before heading out. Only 3 stars due to service. I understand they need to turn tables really quickly, but with every visit, order is taken and then that's it. Servers rarely come around again except to drop off the check. Never once have I been asked if I needed another cold brew or anything else to eat. Friendliness level is lukewarm at best. read more

I became acquainted with First Watch when I resided in Kansas. Back then, over a dozen years ago, First Watch was my go-to for Sunday brunch. I was thrilled when one opened mere minutes away in Charlotte. But, even after several visits, I can't get as excited about this First Watch as I used to. It's a good place, but a bit noisy. The food is always good enough, but just a step or two away from great. Given my druthers, I prefer Le Peep or Big View Diner, but they are further away. First Watch doesn't fall short delivering the basics, but I was just hoping for a little bit better to convince me come over a little more often. read more

Today's visit was our first time trying this place out for breakfast as our usual spot was closed. I checked in on Yelp as I saw the wait time varied between 35-60 minutes. Upon arrival, our party of 5 adults plus 1 child continued to wait about 40 minutes after checking in. After waiting some time, a few of us went inside to grab coffee but the carafe was out. I ended up checking on our wait time since it had already been about 30 minutes from when we had checked in with the hostess on our arrival. The hostess responded that she didn't know how much longer and then said it would be another 30 minutes. When we were seated, there was one coffee mug and water glass for the table of 5 adults and one child. We mentioned to the waiter we were ready for coffee, water, and for him to take our order when he arrived since the wait was longer than anticipated. The place was packed and the service undoubtedly suffered. It took awhile to get coffee for everyone and even longer to get waters and creamer. When the food was brought out, it seemed only mine had an issue - it was the trifecta but such a small portion of eggs. We had ordered one scrambled egg as a side and that was even larger than the "two egg portion" that came with my plate. I mentioned it to the waitress who brought out the food and she happily brought some more eggs (thank you for noticing). All in all, it's a spot to go to but it probably won't be my first or second choice for a weekend breakfast. May be better during the week! No pictures of food since we were so hungry. read more

I've been here previously and everything was great. This time was much more mediocre. Food was great, service was definitely lacking and not very kind. We had a party of four and they sat us at a table with three chairs, the hostess walked off when my wife told her. Got coffee with no cream and waited quite a while to get it it after I asked. Check dropped off when we were still eating then no one came back to check on us as ask if we needed boxes (we did). I might try the Fort Mill location next time. Don't think I'll come back to the Providence Rd. location. read more

The food is great, as with all locations. However this location is very frustrating with their use of the NoWait functions in their app. It is ALWAYS wrong. Example 1: When looking at the app, it will say they can seat you in 20-25 minutes, but when you reserve your spot the app tells you to arrive in 50 minutes. Example 2: app is telling us to arrive now, that we have a 3-13 min wait. Check in after 5 minutes & the hostess tells us we have 20-25 more minutes to wait. It's a shame. We've given this place many tries. However, today was the last one. There are too many other choices around who are more respectful of their patrons' time. read more

So I finally made it to First Watch for breakfast. We must have gotten there during a slow spell because we were seated right away. But by the time we left, there was clearly a bit of wait for a table. Even with open tables, though, this place is LOUD. And as the tables filled, it got louder. So don't go here and expect to carry on a conversation without considerable difficulty. (Note to owners: Please consider adding some sound insulation.) At first glance, the food was a bit more pricey than I usually want to spend for breakfast. But once my crab omelet arrived at my table, I understood the prices: it was stuffed with tons of crab meat. The food was fresh and well prepared. I'll be honest, the service could have been a little better. There were stretches where I really needed some more napkins but our waitress was nowhere to be found. Overall though, I was impressed. It was bad start to finish. The food was good. The server was nice, but it didn't compensate for the fact that we waited 40 minutes for a table, while we watched 5 tables stand open, because the kitchen was so backed up. And I can account for that because we ordered as soon as we sat down and then waiting as we watched with a birds-eye view of the kitchen for 40 more minutes while nothing left. The server brought us toast to hold us over, while my son ate a left over half of an apple. I came here for lunch with some co workers last week. This was my first time at this location. Every time i go to First Watch it is amazing. They have the best coffee in my opinion. I ordered their new summer menu item of the crab omelette. When the food came out to our table they brought the wrong item out for me. I understand restaurants make mistakes and this wasn't a big issue for me. It did take a little longer the wait for the corrected meal but the manager came over and apologized and said my meal was free. Once my food did some out it was delicious. It was my co workers first time there and they enjoyed it as well. I wish they were open later but I love it there! read more

Checked in only an hour ago and then went to restaurant and waited 1/2 hour+ because they only have one or two tables that can fit parties of more than 4!! Finally sat down to eat and found bacon under the table. Not to mention it took 45 mins to get our food! Order of pancakes came without syrup and had to ask for it multiple times before we received it. Last order of pancake didn't even come until everyone finished eating because apparently it "went to the wrong table". Can they get anything right? I generally do not enjoy a cooked breakfast. It's usually too heavy and sticks with me all day. I had heard so many good things about First Watch that I decided to give them a try despite my reservations. What a delightful surprise! This is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had and I will definitely be returning with all of my friends. This was our 2nd attempt to eat here, as our 1st attempt was on a weekend, but we were not willing to wait an hour! We returned on a Tuesday morning and were seated almost immediately. Our waiter was very helpful with the menu, and made sure we had our beverages while we perused the menu. I started out with one of their fresh juices, and I can't remember the name of it but it had beat in it and was fantastic! For the main course I have the salmon and shallot frittata and it was a perfect melange of flavors without any being overpowering. Another thing I really like is that they serve the eggs with a nice light salad instead of heavy potatoes and it really helps in keeping you from feeling overfull all morning. Having said that, if you want their potatoes you can substitute. We also ordered a side of their million dollar bacon and it was worth every penny. The combination of spice and sweet is sheer perfection. I like the fact that our server watched our progression and brought the ticket at just the right time period we were able to check out when we were ready without having to wait to get a ticket. YUM YUM YUM. I do love this place - but I DO hate the wait. There's always a line out the door after 9 a.m. and if you don't time it right you'll be hangry for sure. I haven't ordered anything but the avocado toast which is by far the best around. My 2nd grader ordered the crepes once and did NOT like them (they were a bit greasy tasting) so he requires some encouragement to go here and we have been working to order him different things (no more crepes) - he's a million dollar bacon fan, so that's something. Hubs has started to follow me and also orders the avocado toast. Not sure there IS anything else on the menu (ha ha). I love fresh - I don't like that they don't give you ice in the waters, but I'm sure there's a logical reason for it. Coffee pots sit on the table, which is great, but some mornings we need more than ONE pot. read more
