This place has now risen to the top of our Charlotte breakfast list. There just always seems to be something uniquely delicious on their seasonal menu which runs for a limited amount of time per season. This time two such options were the Lemon Blueberry Quinoa Pancakes and Smoked Salmon Tzatziki Toast. The pancakes were loaded with fresh blueberries and accompanied by a berry compote and topped with granola and berry butter. They were perfectly fried a golden pbrown and absolutely delicious. I hope to order at least once more while they are still available on the spring menu. The salmon toast was also excellent and beautifully plated along with two superbly prepared over easy eggs. Coffee was delicious and service was friendly and attentive. Nice extras that have become necessities, like raw sugar and fresh creme, are also readily provided. It's a fun place to be. Good energy, delicious food, and no wait lines on the weekdays. I like how they have found such creative ways to cook an egg. I am artist and this caters to my appeal. After the management changed, it was like someone had snapped the lights on. The place was a bit brighter. It made my days feel lighter. Plus it inspired me to add more flavor to my dishes. My friend and I met up for breakfast here today and the experience was mediocre at best. The greeter was a sweetheart and we were greeted promptly. Our server came to take our order and she never came back to check on us. We both ordered waters and was never offered a refill or given a pitcher of water for our table. After waiting for 45 minutes we asked another server to check on our food. My scrambled eggs were burnt and I had to ask for the toast that comes with the All American Breakfast. The food was good but the service was HORRIBLE. When I mentioned the water duty to the server she acted as if she could care less. I know First Watch can do so much better. We had a pretty unpleasant experience here the other day after not coming by for a while. We arrived on Monday before noon and were seated outside right away. The host/manager(?) was very kind and set up our table well. It took a longggg time to be acknowledged by our waitress who came by and asked if we wanted coffee and then disappeared again. She came back and seemed awkward and in a hurry. She took our food orders and we still didn't have water. We ordered and the food took a long while. My husband who had to get back to work was getting grumpy (it had been about 45 minutes by then) and of course as soon as the food came out our waitress dropped his plate on the ground (oops!). She was very sorry and said his food would be comped but his replacement food took a longggg time. I had finished my plate by then and it was very awkward. First visit to First Watch and it was quite pleasant. We waited for less than 10 minutes before being seated. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful in assisting me in making a decision on what to order. I got the Monterey Club and I believe chicken tortilla or bean soup. Gosh darn it, I can't remember now but it was hot, well seasoned and hearty. Loved it! The club sandwich was just okay. Everything about was good except the turkey which unfortunately was the main component of the sandwich. It was just oddly mushy and no matter how delicious and crispy the bacon, it should couldn't compensate for the weird texture of the turkey. I also one of their juices that was very delicious and an excellent price at $3.99. It was the morning meditation with orange, lemon, turmeric, organic ginger, agave nectar and beet. If you order anything to drink, get that. Highly refreshing with a nice clean taste. My friend enjoyed her farmhouse breakfast skillet, very hearty and filling. At least it appeared that way. You pay at the counter on your way out and the ladies there were very sweet as well. Thumbs up to the staff we encountered and thumbs up to all the food and drink minus the turkey meat. Read past this first statement. Their seating method is a debacle. HOWEVER, Ashton at the host stand was a pure breath of fresh air while we tried to figure out the seating she constantly checked in and assured us we were not forgotten. The place was clean and the staff very nice. Plenty of food for the price, which is not inexpensive. My review is driven by the value you receive. I ordered a Chile Chorizo omelette. The flavor was great but honestly you could barely even find the chorizo and avocado in the omelette. My suggestion would be to make the omelette smaller but focus more on the chorizo. I also had the million dollars bacon which for the price was an ample portion. The bacon was good, a bit sweat for me but it has maple syrup in it so it was as advertised. The bacon was not crisp and was a bit thin. In this type dish I personally would expect a thick cut bacon balancing the lack of crispness with a bacon that cuts like steak. Again this place is pretty good but they present themselves as top shelf and I am not sure they have gotten there yet. read more

We had a very good late breakfast at First Watch. All of the menu options sounded great. This is not your basic boring breakfast joint. The selections are creative, well thought out, and well presented. I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of the amazing bacon. This was a "healthy" option in my mind because it was chicken sausage which I appreciated. Honestly, the biscuit was fluffy and perfectly prepared. It was not soggy when it arrived. The gravy and scrambled eggs were also great. Let's just say my wife and I arm wrestled for the last strip of bacon... of course she won. It was that good! The farmhouse potatoes were fantastic, bacon cooked to perfection, sausage was incredible, and their toast was some if the best I've ever tasted. The eggs were cooked to order and was also wonderful. The service was great. Very quick and efficient, promptly filling waters, milks and coffees when needed but no overbearing. The staff were extremely friendly and polite, and knew their menu extremely well. The restaurant is very cool inside --though can be a bit loud because of the industrial design. It has a very clean and airy feel, and is very well maintained. There is plenty of seating indoors and some great outdoor spots. I'm excited to have First Watch opened here. It's one of my favorite cafe to go for breakfast/brunch when I lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. However, my breakfast order, The Egg Benedict with tomato and avocado on a toasted ciabatta, was not impressive at all. They was bland and the poached eggs were not poached nicely. I ordered the cold press juice that was super refreshing - I don't recall the name but it had beet and turmeric. We were starving and ordered some toast while we waited for the mains to be prepared. The toast was amazing - big thick cut multigrain slices pre buttered with a side of strawberry jam. Delicious. I got the egg sandwhich that came topped with smashed avocado, bacon and gruyere served on a brioche bun. It was insanely good. Of course there was no way I could leave this establishment without trying the lemon ricotta pancakes so my husband and I got them to share - also an absolute must- fluffy pancakes riddled with ricotta topped with lemon cream (a little over powering) and strawberries. I normally don't give second chances to waste my money, but the husband wanted pancakes and the kind customer relations personnel send incentive to try the restaurant again. I'm still not impressed. I just think the cooks do not pay attention to what they are cooking, because food tends to be over cooked. My husband had the Tri-Fecta and he said it was ok but the pancake was a little dry and reasoned, maybe it was not their speciality. He is kind. My omelet was definitely overcooked. As busy as they were, they stopped by to greet, take a picture for us, and make sure the Father's were allowed to order first. They were the best! This place is ALWAYS packed and for good reason! Everything I've tried has been delicious! I love the unique menu options, but also that there are clean/healthy options as well! Their summer menu acai bowl is incredible, and their egg white omelette (pictured) is to die for. I also recommend getting their homemade toast with almond butter and strawberry jam. When we checked out, same agnostic customer service attitude, never looked up to thank me for a $150 meal, grabbed my card, placed the receipt for signature in front of me, then finally muttered "Have a nice day" while looking elsewhere. I hope someone takes this type of constructive criticism to heart. Given the Pandemic, we haven't dined much onsite. You'd think that customer service would be a priority.
