We came here for breakfast and loved it. The food was great and the service and manager excellent. Although we experienced an order issue twice with an omelet being made wrong, they brought out fruit while we waited. The manager came over and went even further where they gave us a coupon for two for breakfast or Lunch and didn't charge us for the omelet. This is another of several breakfast/brunch places along the stretch of West 86th Street between Meridian and Michigan Rd. Their schtick is healthy, but if that's not really your thing, they have some greasy spoon fare as well. Service is very fast and friendly (probably because they just opened, but time will tell). First Watch offers reasonable prices for some very good breakfast food. In particular, I'm always one to combine the sides into a meal in itself. It brings a smile to my face when I see a new breakfast joint opening up, and lucky for me, this one is close to the office! A co-worker got really excited and monitored the progress of the construction; apparently they already exist in Ohio... My first thought was how clean the place is. If they can keep it looking this nice and clean for another 6 months, then I'll rule it's one of the cleanest places I think I've eaten at. Kudos to them.. let's hope it just isn't the "newness" of the place. I stuck to the part of the menu titled "The Healthy Side" and selected the Cranberry Nut Quaker Oatmeal. It was "Made to order with cranberries, Georgia pecans and sliced bananas. Served with low-fat milk, brown sugar and an English Muffin." YUM! The Oatmeal was covered in cranberries and bananas, and was just what I needed to get my day started. My only suggestion: put it in a bigger bowl for those of us who like to add a lot of low-fat milk to their oatmeal. By the time I got it added, it was pretty close to the top of the bowl and I sloshed a little bit out. The English Muffin was chewy and delicious. It tasted to me like the spread they put on top might have had the slightest hint of garlic to it. Tasty yes, but not what I'd prefer for breakfast. I grabbed a menu on my way out since they offer "to go" ordering. Who knows.. maybe the mood will strike me to hit this place up on my way into the office one morning! read more

Led to this brunch spot by other Yelp reviews, we were clearly steered to a fantastic place. Starting off with a pot of coffee on the table and a friendly server, the noise level was well-suited for conversation. I went with the lemon curd pancakes with a side of their incredible bacon; delicious and filling! My daughter opted for a skillet egg dish and was pleased with everything but the jam for the toast (awesome slice of toast, though). I do most of my brunch / breakfast related activities at Patachou, so when my wife suggested we try First Watch I wasn't sure about it. I felt like I was cheating on my spot. I was worried one of my normal waitresses might see me as they were passing by. Let's just say I was nervous. We come on a Sunday and had about a five minute wait for a table. I think we got in at the perfect time because after we sat down I saw people waiting a lot longer. The restaurant is bright and fresh and very open. They presented two menus, one regular and one with spring specials. I love seeing a seasonal menu because if I come back I know there will be some new options. We ordered water and coffee. It came quickly. The one thing this place didn't do as well as Patachou is the coffee. It wasn't bad, but there wasn't anything exciting about it either. I got the Chickichanga. It was like a breakfast chicken chimichanga but they used a fried crepe for the shell. The shell was filled with whipped eggs, big chunks of avocado, chicken and salsa. It had a tasty cheesy salsa concoction on top with just a little bit of sour cream. It came with a side of fried potatoes. The Chickichanga had some great southwest flavor a without being too spicy. I love spicy food but sometimes when you have it for breakfast the burps will stick with you all day. This had some spice but the flavors leaned more the rich flavors you get from avocado and cheese. The crepe shell was rich and eggy and really helped tie the whole thing together. They gave just enough of the cheese sauce to get a little bit on the potato. This was a fantastic breakfast spot. I don't think I like this restaurant. I've tried it 3 times and it has just never lived up to the hype. The waffle and pancakes were not very flavorful and cold. I'm pretty sure our chicken sausage was not cooked thoroughly. My husband and I both had upset stomachs afterward.They looked undercooked and I should have sent them back. The only noteworthy dish were the over easy eggs. They were cooked perfectly and had great organic farm fresh flavor. Overall I can think of a number of places in Indianapolis that have much better breakfast food. read more

I like to eat. If it tastes good I say it tastes good. I need to use terms like "flavor profile" and "layers" I had the elote Mexican street corn hash. It was amazing. The flavors really came through. It's simple but tastes great. Fresh ingredients that you can taste. Very nice and friendly inside. Service was fast and friendly. Coffee was great as well. First Watch exceeded my expectations. Food is probably just 3 stars, but the service and unique menu led me to rate this place 4 stars. I'll definitely be back. My friend had a BOGO (sign up online, and you can get one too), so we decided to catch a late breakfast here. Though seated at first by the door, there was no issue when I asked to be seated somewhere warmer. I had the power bowl with pesto chicken, quinoa, and veggies, and my friend had a veggie hash with eggs and fruit. My quinoa was still a bit soggy, but the pesto sauce was great. Though FW touts itself as healthy, go online and check their nutritional info. Many of the items top 50 grams of sugar, including the granola with a muffin and cranberry nut oatmeal. I had high hopes for this place after reading the reviews. When we walked in, the hostess didn't make eye contact and asked "two?" After we were seated by our nice and attentive server, we noticed the floor was dirty and had eggs on it--our table was sticky as well. The coffee was strong, but unimpressive. I was hoping the food would be able to make up for the other shortcomings, but my chorizo omelet tasted over-whelmed by the canned green Chiles on top. The potatoes, however saved the day! They were very good. My wife enjoyed her hash with eggs and fruit. If I return I would definitely order a different entree. UPDATE: after bro contacted by corporate customer service, we were offered the chance to try first watch again for free. This second visit was a wonderful one. I had the salmon frittata and my wife had a "works" omlette. Both were served fresh and delicious. The restaurant was much cleaner and the service was much better. This is my mother and I's favorite brunch spot in the city and typically end up here at least once a month. What i appreciate most about First Watch are the options of sweet, savory, or a mix of both as well as healthy and "not as healthy" options that are all good. I typically go for either the Triathlete or the Parma Skillet Hash depending on how healthy I want to be. The restaurant is kept clean even during peak times and the staff still gives everyone the attention and respect they deserve regardless of how hectic it can get on a Saturday morning/afternoon. Although we have been to 3 different locations of First Watch we continue to come back to this one simply for the quality of service as well as the ease of parking compared to the downtown location. I would highly recommend this as a brunch spot to bring family and friends in a laid back and relaxed environment. read more

The avocado is fresh and the eggs run nicely over the top (though are served on the side). On my last visit, I ordered the Morning Market Veg omelet. It was a 4/5 star omelet. The creamy goat cheese was amazing but some kind of green (kale?) and a hefty dose of shallots was a little overpowering. On a dare from a fellow customer (guy at another table who I didn't know), I tried the Kale Tonic. My daughter said it tasted like "spring in a glass." It was surprisingly tasty. But what keeps me going back to this First Watch location is the service, which is always friendly and attentive.
