We came here on a whim when we were in town as the menu looked great. What an awesome decision this was. Upon entering the whole place has a 'mood' to it that feels cozy and homey and welcoming. The staff is so hospitable from the start that you feel like you're meant to be there. Smell of breakfast and coffee fills the air. We were seated immediately and within literally a few seconds our server brought us menus and some water, offering coffee. We opted for different drinks as we had coffee already and got them fairly quick. Our server accommodated our menu questions and even brought a special menu that listed whether foods had dairy or not. We got our food in maybe 5-10 minutes which felt fast. Despite the restaurant being completely full, and not a single spot in the parking lot, everything in First Watch felt as if it was a finely tuned well running machine - because it is. Dang, the meal was incredible! Seriously the best breakfast I have had, possibly ever. The bacon was crispy and dry, just as I love it, eggs were perfect, toast was fresh and flavorful (which is odd to write about toast) and the potatoes were perfectly seasoned, not overly but just right. While on travel, I woke up wanting a good breakfast. We have a First Watch in Maryland that I've never visited so I thought I would try Phoenix location. I ordered the Waffle meal with scrambled eggs w/cheese and bacon and a side of turkey sausage. It was a very breakfast, but I'd prefer my cheese scrambled in my eggs and not just on top. Otherwise, it was very good. My eyes were bigger than my belly so I was unable to eat it all. Definitely recommend the waffle meal. We came here the day we arrived in Phoenix because it was close to where we were staying and needed something filling. First Watch is a reliable chain with consistent brunch quality in its locations. This location has a ton of seating, but the parking lot is small. We came in on a Saturday of a holiday weekend and there wasn't a wait! Our server was friendly, attentive, and quick. I ordered the elevated egg sandwich with seasoned potatoes on the side. The sandwich was good, especially since I was expecting an overcooked egg, but the yolk ran when I cut it in half, making it a bit messy to eat but nothing too bad. The other toppings were nice and balanced, so the sandwich didn't feel too heavy. It's a filling sandwich and great for when you've come from a flight. I enjoy the options here and how it's a bit healthier as you get a side with your eggs Benedict and I feel like the food here never leaves me feeling too weighed down. Today, however, I was yelled at by your server, Lauren when discussing the tea options with my child. At first I thought, perhaps I'm being sensitive but then I noticed what a difference there was in the tone after this one interaction. I even left without leaving a tip as I refuse to tip a person who speaks at me if I was their child when I wasn't even speaking to her, to begin with. Went in to have breakfast like we always do, when we got the food there was a MAGGOT in the greens. Let our server know and she claimed it was from the greens since they are "organic" but aren't they supposed to wash the greens before serving? This is my second time visiting this restaurant, first at this location (I previously visited one in Chandler). Let me tell you, as a former Chef, I thoroughly enjoy this establishment. I have been to a few different First Watch locations and the service here seemed a bit slower but still friendly. We ordered a pumpkin pancake breakfast which is served with one giant fluffy pumpkin pancake, 2 eggs (over easy for me) and a chicken sausage patty. The pancake was perfect. My eggs over easy were cooked perfectly and the chicken sausage patty was great. Hubs had the French toast which is made with brioche. He enjoyed it. Went here due to the high rating - food was terrible. Maybe it was what we chose? $3.50 for a cup of coffee!?! Juice was delicious. That is 5 stars. Grateful for the non-dairy creamer since I have a dairy allergy and it's hard to find. Biscuits and sausage gravy were NOT good. Sausage was non existent. Lacked flavor all together. Hard pass from my husband. Crab Benedict was mushy and fishy. Side salad was okay. We went around 8am, sat right away. Don't remember what I ordered or what it's called but the food got there fast as well. I wish they had pictures on their menu because I ordered right away and I was clueless of what I was ordering when the food arrived. The potatoes were over burned, and then the egg, avocado bacon sandwich wasn't my favorite , but it was OK next time I go. I will look at the menu before going so I can know what I'm ordering. I saw that other people were being attended faster and regularly during the time in with me, it was only one time. This Saturday I had breakfast at the Thomas Rd Fist Watch at 7:30 AM. First the pluses, nice atmosphere, clean, good service with adequate friendly staff. The menu is geared towards a healthier breakfast, so ordering a tradition ham and cheese omelet was a poor choice. The ham portion of the omelet was thin ham slices used for sandwiches rolled up. No taste to the ham at all, but omelet was good in size. The second cup of coffee was very bitter and tasted like the bottom of the pot. In any event, I made a bad menu choice. read more

They had a huge sign with a beautiful picture of the crab avocado toast advertised in front of the door, of course I had to get it! I loved the addition of the fried egg I don't normally get with avocado toast. The pickled onions on top were perfect to balance out the creaminess of the avocado and runny egg! I know I had been to first watch once many years ago. And I can't remember whether I liked it or not. But as I know, I didn't go back probably didn't like it. However, I decided to go in with my husband and check it out. We will not be returning. Between our two meals the only thing that was cooked right was some poached eggs. Their specialty bacon, which I asked for crisp was not thoroughly cooked was not crisp. But was a greasy mess. There was so much cayenne on it that it burned the back of my throat. The potatoes that came with my meal was over salted to the point I was only able to get two pieces down. The biscuit was hard however the gravy was halfway decent. My husband custom ordered a ham and cheese omelette I am being generous in saying that there may have been a tablespoon of cheese, but it was more like a teaspoon. Not much ham was included either. Maybe they did this because it was supposed to be healthy but the way everything was over Salted was definitely not healthy. Our server never came back to ask us how the food was. Otherwise I would've had her take it all back instead I ate my poached eggs and some of the gravy from the biscuits. I was really wanting to like this place. The only saving grace, was when we were checking out we were asked how we liked it and I told the cashier. " frankly, we won't be coming back." She replied oh no was something wrong? I explained that I was only able to eat the two eggs because everything was so salty, etc.. at that point, she handed me my credit card back and said there's no charge, but please try us again, she would tell the manager. I appreciated that she didn't have us pay for food that We couldn't eat much of. Which is why i gave an additional star. The atmosphere was pleasant but a bit dark, enough that i felt i should use my phone flashlight to read the menu. After leaving first watch and went to 5th ave cafe only moments away so that we could eat a whole meal. I understand that there are a lot of people that love first watch. And I hope for the owners sake that our visit was just a fluke. read more

Im going to be generous and give this place two stars for the cleanliness and decor. Very nice atmosphere. My wife and I were seated at a huge round table. I don't know why as there were many other booths available. It was awkward sitting so far apart so we asked to be moved. Once we were at a much more comfortable table we ordered our food. I got the chilaquiles and we shared an order of pancakes. Let me just say that chilaquiles should be made fresh. Those tortilla chips came out of bag. Not only that but they were stale and salty. Totally killed the entree. The pancakes were big, so big that we could've shared one and been fine. Anyway, I was glad the syrup didn't slide off the pancake and it absorbed it. But the pancake was too crumbly. Flavor was good but the texture was off. The food here wasn't good. I'm just glad that we had good service and that there wasn't a wait to be seated on a Sunday morning. read more

Ok, so my friend isn't the best navigator, but we'll cut him slack since there are actually two First Watch restaurants on "Central & Thomas". What are the odds of that, right? So when I walked into this spot and didn't see him or his car, I was confused. It was actually the hostess here that explained there is another one up the street. This one is on Thomas near Central. The other one is on Central near Thomas. Haha. I ended up at one location and my friend at the other. I considered it walking distance but she advised it would be best for me to drive there. She made a good call because I stuffed myself at the other location, I wouldn't wanna walk back afterwards. So, whoever the hostess was working the morning of Aug 19, you're a real one. She even walked outside the front door with me to point to (a few buildings in the way, though) the other location. I definitely have to support this location, too, whenever I am craving First Watch. read more

I visited this location in Phx across from St. Joe's hospital after an appointment and couldn't believe how crazy my taste buds went. I ordered the farmhouse breakfast with one of their fresh made juices. Everything was amazing, the service, the food, the atmosphere. Yes, yessssss and YES! As soon as I got home I told my husband about it and we met some friends a few days later at the Tempe location. I then had the breakfast tacos, my husband and friends had the chickenchanga and protein bowl. We left stuffed and absolutely happy! They have a ton of locations. Look one up and head down there.
