Im going to be generous and give this place two stars for the cleanliness and decor. Very nice atmosphere. My wife and I were seated at a huge round table. I don't know why as there were many other booths available. It was awkward sitting so far apart so we asked to be moved. Once we were at a much more comfortable table we ordered our food. I got the chilaquiles and we shared an order of pancakes. Let me just say that chilaquiles should be made fresh. Those tortilla chips came out of bag. Not only that but they were stale and salty. Totally killed the entree. The pancakes were big, so big that we could've shared one and been fine. Anyway, I was glad the syrup didn't slide off the pancake and it absorbed it. But the pancake was too crumbly. Flavor was good but the texture was off. The food here wasn't good. I'm just glad that we had good service and that there wasn't a wait to be seated on a Sunday morning. read more

Yum yum yummy! If you are looking for a new breakfast spot First Watch does not disappoint! I visited this location in Phx across from St. Joe's hospital after an appointment and couldn't believe how crazy my taste buds went. I ordered the farmhouse breakfast with one of their fresh made juices. Everything was amazing, the service, the food, the atmosphere. Yes, yessssss and YES! As soon as I got home I told my husband about it and we met some friends a few days later at the Tempe location. I then had the breakfast tacos, my husband and friends had the chickenchanga and protein bowl. We left stuffed and absolutely happy! They have a ton of locations. Look one up and head down there. I know I had been to first watch once many years ago. And I can't remember whether I liked it or not. But as I know, I didn't go back probably didn't like it. However, I decided to go in with my husband and check it out. We will not be returning. Between our two meals the only thing that was cooked right was some poached eggs. Their specialty bacon, which I asked for crisp was not thoroughly cooked was not crisp. But was a greasy mess. There was so much cayenne on it that it burned the back of my throat. The potatoes that came with my meal was over salted to the point I was only able to get two pieces down. The biscuit was hard however the gravy was halfway decent. My husband custom ordered a ham and cheese omelette I am being generous in saying that there may have been a tablespoon of cheese, but it was more like a teaspoon. Not much ham was included either. Maybe they did this because it was supposed to be healthy but the way everything was over Salted was definitely not healthy. Our server never came back to ask us how the food was. Otherwise I would've had her take it all back instead I ate my poached eggs and some of the gravy from the biscuits. I was really wanting to like this place. The only saving grace, was when we were checking out we were asked how we liked it and I told the cashier. " frankly, we won't be coming back." She replied oh no was something wrong? I explained that I was only able to eat the two eggs because everything was so salty, etc.. at that point, she handed me my credit card back and said there's no charge, but please try us again, she would tell the manager. I appreciated that she didn't have us pay for food that We couldn't eat much of. Which is why i gave an additional star. The atmosphere was pleasant but a bit dark, enough that i felt i should use my phone flashlight to read the menu. After leaving first watch and went to 5th ave cafe only moments away so that we could eat a whole meal. I understand that there are a lot of people that love first watch. And I hope for the owners sake that our visit was just a fluke. read more

Ok, so my friend isn't the best navigator, but we'll cut him slack since there are actually two First Watch restaurants on "Central & Thomas". What are the odds of that, right? So when I walked into this spot and didn't see him or his car, I was confused. It was actually the hostess here that explained there is another one up the street. This one is on Thomas near Central. The other one is on Central near Thomas. Haha. I ended up at one location and my friend at the other. I considered it walking distance but she advised it would be best for me to drive there. She made a good call because I stuffed myself at the other location, I wouldn't wanna walk back afterwards. So, whoever the hostess was working the morning of Aug 19, you're a real one. She even walked outside the front door with me to point to (a few buildings in the way, though) the other location. One of my favorite parts of the breakfast sandwich are the greens with a little citrus on them. Adds a refreshing flavor to it. * They are consistent. Came here on a Saturday morning to celebrate post graduation. I thought the restaurant will be packed since it was a weekend and came here at 10:00 am. Turns out, the place was not packed at all. There were plenty of tables available. The service here was really good. Our waitress constantly checked in on us to make sure we are enjoying our time which we did. The food was cold waiter forgot to bring water and set 20 minutes before being served and others around me came in later. 4.5 STARS My family and I have been coming to this location for many years. We still see a few staff members around that predated the takeout only pandemic era. This location always operates with a strong customer service focus which is why we drive past locations close to home to come here. Note to Management, the young lady who was operating the shop during their darkest hours to now when normalcy is returning...ssshhhhhh I'm not trying to jinx it! Is a real top tier employee! She should be commended for keeping the ship steered forward and not allowing it veer off course to now where she is not a one person department! I remember picking up lunch for Mom and I when takeout was the only option when you could see the fear in service works eyes. I did my part to support as many places as I could during this time. You are always treated as you're family. They take pride in the meal that is served to you. Based on all the photos I've posted for this location. We have tried many items on the menu. Consistency of the meals and customer service will keep us coming back. Mom enjoys her soup and sandwich where wife and daughter enjoy their breakfast. They have always accommodated us with the allergies that some of my family has. We are very grateful to be able to have dine in service versus eating out of to go containers in the car. The menu covers all your breakfast classics with their own flare to it. The decor is very ranch style and homey which makes you feel like you're eating on a farm somewhere. This was our first time going to a Yelp Elite event (for my "+1" wife and I ) so I was hoping it'd be special...and it was! Besides the 20 impromptu rain downpour we had a good time. How it went: - It started with a drink of pomegranate "mule." It tasted like it was freshly squeezed. I nursed it all evening while they brought out... - Truffled wild mushroom frittata. Not bad! The fresh fruit and the ciabatta toast made for interesting side dishes. - Next we had a heritage pork chop and eggs. I don't like my eggs runny but ok. The housemade apple compote topping on the pork chop was an added plus. I almost wanted add sugar to the cheddar grits but it was delicious without it. - "A pancake by any other name is still...a pancake." My thoughts when served the pumpkin pancake, as I added (I think it was) maple syrup to the mix...which only added to the sweet taste. The sausage patty looked special but tasted average. We enjoyed our meal with another fellow Yelper and her +1, whom we were seated at the same booth with. The servers were both friendly and accommodating; I didn't feel any "we gotta do this because of an Elite event" vibe from them. Looking at the other Yelpers sitting at nearby tables, it seemed most were enjoying the meal. We left a donation for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, picked up some coupons and left. Our breakfast was delicious, the service was excellent. The whole staff was super friendly and welcoming. We were there early, around 7:35am (they open at 7:00) and the place was filling up. I'm sure there's a wait later in the morning! My husband loved the sausages that came with the traditional breakfast. He is English, and the sausage resembled what he would get in England. AB-SO-LUTE-LY DE-LI-CIOUS. We ordered iced coffee (bit sweeter than normal, but I love that), Eggs Benedict, Tri-Fecta, Million Dollar Bacon and a side of potatoes. There was not a single thing wrong with any of it. They even gave me a bottle of syrup for my waffle! For someone who likes her waffle/pancakes swimming comfortable in a sea of syrup, you can understand how that's much better than the little shot-glass looking containers. Oh and the cost for all these wonderful things you ask? Between two people, it was not even $18 (before tip)! Yeah, I know. This was my first time at The First Watch Restaurant and let me tell you, I had a great time eating delicious food at this restaurant. I will like to recommend the customers to sign-in like 20 minute ahead on the waitlist, for they don't have to wait for their table. The waitlist for 30 mins. But, my table was really in 20 mins. I had a great time here on Sunday to enjoy breakfast this morning with my mother and bother. The place was great! atmosphere was great and was very clean at the place. But it can be crowded during the weekends. It's a bit noisy indoor at the restaurant but you have the option to outdoor dining for quit atmosphere or to do your work and have a conversion with someone. The restaurant staff is very accommodating and very friendly. Our server was great, nice and really helpful. I love her cheerful attitude and not only she try to speak spanish to get my mother order. It take us for 10 mins for the waitress to get your order and drink. but, we got drink right away. She will recommend my mother to try the Purple Haze or Morning Meditation Fresh Juice. My mother order the Morning Meditation Fresh Juice and she love the drink. The menu have different options for you to chose and sound very deliciousness. We ordered superseed protein pancakes, steel- cut oatmeal, Bacado omelet, Smoked Salmon & Roasted Vegetable Frittata, Cobb Salad, and Ham & Gruyere Melt. The food was delicious! Would you believe that with all the places I've dined in the valley I've never set foot in a First Watch? This Florida based breakfast and lunch megachain is everywhere in the valley, including near my own neighborhood. And yet, I've somehow been oblivious to its existence this whole time. Well, no longer. Needing a hearty breakfast for busy Saturday, I searched for breakfast spots open at 7am nearby. First Watch was one of them. So I decided it was time to end the mystery and grab my first meal of the weekend here. You'll find First Watch's West Thomas Road location on the south side of Thomas Road and 1st Avenue. The building its housed in looks small from the street, but can actually accommodate more than 100 at a time including the outside patio. I grabbed a spot at one of the interior booths on this cool Fall morning. The menu includes seasonal food and drink specials as well as their everyday fare. Helpfully, the menu also listed the calorie counts for their food items and marks stand out signatures in squares. This morning I was feeling like a simple no frills breakfast (after a cup of OJ that is). And the Trifecta seemed like a good fit for what I was craving. Two eggs any style (scrambled for me), a giant multigrain pancake or waffle (pancake for me), and your choice of one of 5 meats (turkey sausage for me). Total cost for everything including tax and tip came to about $18. Came out hot and ready in about 5 minutes. Pretty much exactly what I was expecting. The pancake and sausages were solid. I would've liked the eggs cooked a little more thoroughly, but overall I was plenty satisfied with my breakfast. So there ya have it, after all these years, I've now had my first meal at First Watch. The menu here is pretty vast so I know there will be plenty to choose from and try next time I'm here. And it sounds like there are even more First Watch restaurants coming to the valley now that First Watch has taken over Egg & I and The Good Egg. Here's hoping this megachain will keep its standards high and the food tasty. After all, it is the most important meal of the day, right? read more
