Very mixed experience ordering carry out from First Watch. The pick up of the order was fine and everything seemed very clean and organized, but it was not explained that drinks ordered would be in a different area. When we got home we realized the drink was not with our food, so we called and the worker said they will have to contact corporate to have it removed from our bill. That being said, our food was very tasty and our interactions with the staff were great. My advice would be maybe don't order carry out if possible because the food gets cold quickly and if a mistake is made it's tricky to correct the issue. BUT if you feel safe dining in it's worth it! Avoid this location like COVID 19. Make the trip to Maple or Big Beaver as this place is poorly run by a General Manager that needs help and staff that needs better direction. Some examples: Service takes forever. You get the wrong dish. Flat drinks. I order eggs over easy and they're cooked to death. No sense of urgency. No attention to detail. The General Manager is obviously in over his head and the trickle down is lackluster performance and customer service from start to finish. I have been to this location three times now and every time I've left disappointed. The only thing that is consistent is their high-prices, which I'm willing to pay if the food and service is worth the $$$. It's not. We love First Watch, especially the Big Beaver location. It's top notch. If you're the District Manager (or owner) and you're reading this, consider sending your Royal Oak General Manager to shadow the team in Troy for some retraining or consider demoting him. With COVID, there's a lot of people out of work right now... I'm sure you can find somebody with the right attitude, skills and experience to turn this location around. read more

Honestly am really disappointed in this place. Ordered carry-out as I work up the street. Said my order would be ready in 13 mins, got their in 15. When I walked in, there were two parties in front of me, whom were sat and I went up to the bar where the sign said "online orders." The host walked back towards me, passed me and sat two other parties who came in after me. She then proceeded to take the order of a table who was already there, and then got a drink order for another table. All of this occurred without any acknowledgement or follow up to me. She finally asked if I needed to be seated (like what?) and I said no I was waiting for a carry-out but have never been there before. She said nothing in reply. If the food/cold brew would've been okay, I wouldn't have even bothered with a review, but I essentially paid $15 to eat quinoa for lunch. The pesto chicken bowl had literally no pesto and it was very obvious that the chicken was precooked and reheated way too much, resulting in it looking gray and being very chewy. Only reason I would consider coming back is to sit down and eat, but was very unimpressed with both the service and food. read more

Don't go here if you don't want to be asked to leave! I was super disappointed this time around--I went with a friend to catch up over brunch and was asked vacate the table just under 2 hours in--about the normal time I spend in a restaurant anyway. Usually I would be inclined to head out quickly after a meal, but for a weekend brunch with a friend, I figured I could enjoy myself and the pot of coffee they leave at your table. I don't blame the waitress, but the management that probably made her tell us to leave. It wasn't only humiliating, but uncalled for. If they have a problem with busy hours they should take reservations or do what other brunch places do...set a table time limit that is posted for all to read! If we'd known this going in, we wouldn't have figured it was okay to stick around a little longer--but also being given the check 30 min after sitting down with the waitress saying 'absolutely no rush at all.' Passive aggressively sending the host and waitress by to bully a table into leaving is really poor business strategy. I love breakfast/brunch foods and this place never disappoints!

Ordered the crab cakes Benedict, cheese grits, and million dollar bacon. My order was to go so I only can comment om my food......which was really good! What I really, really liked is that I didn't have to ask for flatware or any condiments. In this day and age restaurants are really stingy when it comes to giving you things that usually goes with your meal! My only suggestion is to the patrons, please be patient with your server or anyone that works there. It's busy and they are short staffed like everywhere else. If you don't have time to wait do what I did and order a carryout. Or you can put in an app and work there! Patience is a virtue. Honestly I'm cheap and paying $15 for 2 eggs, some bacon and underwhelming whelming potatoes ain't my go to. That being said the one thing I absolutely love here is the Chicichanga. I very much enjoyed this place, the service was great. The food was to die for! I got the crab cakes Benedict and I would definitely recommend. My boyfriend got the chorizo sandwich and he also would recommend. They have a juice bar, along with a small cocktail menu. I got Pineapple Express from the juice bar and it was very tasty. First watch has good food and good vibes for the most part. Troy location will be the only location I go to as of today. So my wife and I reserved online for party of 3 and was told to check in once we was here. We are not new to how packed the place can get and have no prob with waiting. Today was different when we go to check in we was told we had 19 ppl ahead of us making our group number 20. After a hours of waiting we checked back in to be told we now have 28 ppl ahead of us. When I questioned it I was told by the host the reasoning was because we placed a reservation online and not over the phone. What h was odd because if you call over the phone it prompts you to order online by downloading the app. She go on to tell me I still have about 45 mins. so we wait another 20 and checked to see to be told I'm now number 34. At this point Im lost I tell the host she replies well you should have placed your reservation before 12pm. Im like wow I asked can we be seating at the bar for drinks her words were not at the moment. Lol this crazy although the location is closer to home I rather do the ride to Troy. I went on Father's Day. I got on the wait list at 10:21. Did not get in until12:38. When we got in we were sitting at a table that had been empty for a while. I know because I kept seeing it empty every time I came to check on how much longer but anyway. We sat for 10 minutes before the waitress came to the table. She brought waters. Never asked if we wanted a drink. When she returned 10 minutes later we were asked what we wanted. Didn't know you had to order off your phone. Ordered waited 20 minutes for breakfast. When the food arrived it looked amazing but I didn't have turkey sausage in my gravy. The waitress never came. Thank god I ordered some chicken. I kept eating because I waited 2 hours and 17 minutes to get some food. So when she finally came and told her there were no sausage. She said she had to get the manager. They brought me a new plate but they need to move the table from the register. People were crowded around us while we were eating. I know things were overwhelmed but they need better communication with each other. People could have been in and out but it looked like lack of help. If I return again I need to come when it first open. The food was alright but the staff needs more training. Please move the unbalanced coronavirus table from the register because it was very uncomfortable sitting there. If I wasn't hungry and waited as long as I did I would have left. Everyone praises First Watch, and I love breakfast, so a day with no power at home seemed a good day to go out for breakfast. I judge a breakfast restaurant bed on two things: toast and eggs. And at First Watch, both were disappointing. I asked for soft scrambled eggs, since I--and most chefs, and the NYT--think that's how they should be cooked. They were not soft. They were hard-cooked, dry and flavorless. I opted out of the standard whole grain toast in favor of an English muffin, toasted well. It was a good muffin, not a Bays (my favorite), but very good. But not toasted. Not even a little bit. Just soft and hot. It came with jam, but was still disappointing. The restaurant failed both the egg and toast tests. On the other hand, the potatoes were delicious. Really yummy: crisp and very tasty. And the bacon was good, too; as was the fresh orange juice. The setting was nice, the service perfunctory--nothing more--but it's the potatoes that would bring me back (so would more omelet choices, it doesn't appear you can build your own, and the choices are limited).
