This is by far our go to breakfast place. My husband and I haven't found a dish on the menu that we don't like. I love to explore the seasonal menu that they write on the chalkboard on the wall. My husband is obsessed with the Elevated Egg Sandwich or the Trifecta. To drink I always get the Morning Meditation, it's a juice drink that is the most refreshing beverage you'll ever drink. First Watch is basically a scam. Here's why! They boast things like cage-free eggs and fresh squeezed juice. It's a lie, at least at this location. I've seen a worker come in with cheap eggs and juice cartons from the HEB in the shopping center. But, they charge you like everything is top notch. It is not. All the pictures of the food on the walls look amazing. What you get at the table is so far from any of the pictures in every way. The portions are crazy small. Especially if your dish contains any meat items. You will get so little meat that you think it's a prank. They are raking in the dough over here. You pay for a full meal and you only get samples. Besides the expensive tiny portions, the food is just not good. No seasoning, no salt, nothing. The mimosas are decent but the fact that First Watch is just a lie and a rip-off earn them one star. Waited 10-15 minutes for someone to take my order before I had stop and ask a random waiter if he could take my order and even then he seemed annoyed I was bothering him. Outdoor dining had birds flying around eating everyone's leftover scraps right off their spoons and forks since the tables never got cleaned after they left (hope they clean their silverware good...) which had me worried the whole time about one of them doing a flyby poop on my food. Eventually decided to get my food to go and after over 30 minutes of waiting I got my food and a dirty to-go cup which I had to ask them to replace. They didn't even bring me my bill. My wife and I have been fans of First Watch since 2016, when we first found one in Jacksonville FL. We loved the food, the atmosphere, the service, the convenience. We're happy that we found this restaurant because it's one I can actually frequent. I lost hearing in one ear (too many years around Air Force jets), and loud noises can make dining our uncomfortable. This restaurant, at least this one time, was great. We could chat without raising our voices, and I didn't have to say "What?" all the time. As we were paying, I noticed a gentleman wearing a slightly more formal outfit than the servers, so I asked if he was the manager; he said he was one of the assistants. I thanked him for keeping the music at a lower level, and told him why. He was gracious. Unfortunately, many restaurants seem to think loud "background" music essential; in my case, it just makes me turn around and leave immediately. A very good experience at this particular First Watch near Bandera Road. I know some of you have been thinking how can you have a bad experience at First Watch? Oh my Yelp friends it can happen. The last time I went to a First Watch was in Bowie, MD and the experience was so bad that I told myself I would never go back to one. This is actually after I went back after they comped my meal and it was still below expectations. Now that I live in a new area I decided to give this First Watch a chance one morning. Surprisingly it was not very busy but as the minutes went on I noticed the crowd started coming in for breakfast. I was seated in a decent amount of time since it was just me. I cannot remember the name of my server but she was on point. Offering me suggestions and she even broke it to me softly that they did not have mimosas at First Watch. I went with one of their main options and that was the trifecta that lets you basically build your meal with a few selections. My choice which was a good choice of the Belgian waffle, scrambled eggs, sausage (pork link) and I added a side of home-style potatoes. The true test for me was the waffle as many times it comes out with the edges too hard and a struggle to cut into once it starts to cool off. Not an issue this time as the warm butter melted nicely over my waffle and I was able to cut into it with just my fork. No waffle warfare on this occasion. As mentioned earlier service was on point. This First Watch has completely changed my views of the chain set by a previous experience and I will be more than happy to partake in eating at this establishment again. F.W. is located in front of HEB Plus in a strip mall area. The parking might be tight due to all the establishments located in the strip mall. The inside is very nice looking and serving staff was positive and welcoming. If the weather lends itself, the patio area is place to have a meal with a close somebody. The bathroom was a good size and clean. Wife ordered French Toast for lunch, kids had sandwiches, and I had bacon/avocado omelet with a side of bacon and avocado. The kids meal was consumed with no fan fair. The French Toast was delicious with no over emphasized flavor. The omelet was large and all ingredients mixed well. I asked for a side of bacon and feta cheese for green salad. The 7 grain toast was warm and refreshing with strawberry preserve. If in the neighborhood, I recommend you go in and have a meal. We came to First Watch based on several positive verbal reviews, however, my experience was extremely unsatisfactory. Overall, I will never return due to the following: - found a short length hair in two different plated set of chocolate chip pancakes - the creamer bowls had a build up of syrup or long standing goo at the bottom (Obviously, they don't clean or don't check these things) - the coffee was bold but lacked flavor and richness. I can end here... - The price was not worth the size and quality of the food. Higher quality = Higher Price or Higher Price = Higher Quantity, but in this case it was Low Quality and Quantity food served with a high price tag.
