We had a less than great experience at St Charles location Sunday. My husband ordered Trifecta ,Waffle Bacon and eggs and he was very pleased. I ordered Classic eggs Benidict, with myeggs poached medium. They were served very soft and runny, still cold. I sent them back and explained in my world medium means cooked solid whites with a soft yolk.I am allergic to raw egg white so it's important. The waitress told me medium there is always served loose and runny. I explained again just how I wanted them cooked. Husband was just about finished with his meal when my recooked dish was served exactly as runny as the first ,a soft poached egg with raw egg white. I ended up getting toast and coffee and a major disappointment .Won't go back. Breakfast for 2 with tip now approaching 40 dollars with drinks . I expect a delicious meal served with my other diners. The service was superb, the watermelon wakeup beverage she recommended was great, the carnitas quesadilla breakfast was fabulous the day of and for dinner. Annie noticed i was going to need a box and bag before I could ask for one. Her personality was spot on for me. The kitchen was on top of my order lickety-split. Overall experience was good. I do like the online save your spot in line feature especially for a busy Sunday brunch. All we had to do was show up and check in so the in-person wait was shorter. I ordered the BLT Eggs Benedict and it was a little over cooked so that was disappointing. It made the meal very dry even with the hollandaise sauce. But the presentation was nice. The food didn't take long to come out and our server was great. Too bad my meal wasn't better. My husband got the chickichanga with no onions and it came out with onions so that's unfortunate. I had never heard of this place but a family member recommended it for breakfast. There was a group of us and this place is perfect for that. Tip 1 - use their check in app ahead of time to get your name on the wait list before you arrive, that will save you time. I noticed after the fact that the Yelp mobile app included this ability so take advantage of it. Tip 2 - if you are unfamiliar like I was, check out the menu online beforehand so you have an idea of what you might like to order. There are all kinds of options for how you can do breakfast. From what I understand, this is farm to table venue. While we awaited our turn to be seated, (notification is by text), I noticed they had help yourself brewed coffee out for folks, what a nice move by the venue, thank you, much appreciated. The other move when you get seated is they bring your table it's own coffee pot so no waiting around to get your mug topped off at this place. Our server was friendly and funny, did not catch her name but I did appreciate her style. They got most of the orders correct, there was some confusion on one, they thought it was the sandwich version instead of the breakfast plate version, no worries, they were quick to fix. What worked for me? The million dollar bacon, the cheese grits, and the market veggie sandwich, although the tacos looked good too. We were visiting the St. Charles area and my cousin was quite excited to see that First Watch and their farm to table concept had made it to the area. It was a Sunday morning around 10 am and the place was hopping. We had a bout a 20 minute wait. The location is fairly spacious and was packed and noisy. So noisy that the waitress had a hard time hearing us when placing our order. She seemed nice enough, but I thought she was a bit no-nonsense and rushed in the beginning. She did take very good care of our party of five. The was a few kinks in getting our order out correctly, but they were fixed quite quickly and everyone enjoyed their food. I think it's gotten crazy that eating breakfast has gotten as expensive as lunch or dinner. There popular pepper maple bacon costs $5 for three pieces, but it was very tasty. It's nice that this chain is doing so well and I can't wait to see if they make it to the Chicago area. read more

Sat by the window and was promotly greeted with a smiling server who offered me a hot pot of coffee. The menu has an excellent selection of plenty of tasty plates, and the sides are so good i was considering just ordering a la carte. Decided on the BLTE with a side bowl of the Butternut Squash Bisque, and a kale tonic. I am a huge fan of freshly juiced kale n green apples so had to give this version a shot. Right on the money! The bisque could easily be the best tasting bisque I've ever had, and the sandwich was an excellent compliment to the soup. The bread was fresh, and the egg was cooked perfectly. Overall, this may have been one of the best spots I've been to on a lunch break. The server Nate was super sweet and had a ton of helpful advice on what to try as well. The atmosphere is hip, but laid back and since they are a bit set aside from the new theatre and bar strip parking was a synch. Oh! I will say the iced coffee leaves much to be desired but if you aren't looking for anything special as far as coffee is concerned, it will be just fine. You will definitely want to check in online before you go because they are always so incredibly busy, it can take a while before you can get a table. This was my first experience at First watch in "Streets of St. Charles" it was very disappointing: I called in while outside- We were told we would wait about a half hour, & would receive a text when a table is ready (placed our name on the list) Noticed several folks come in after, receiving tables prior to us. After 45 minutes, went back inside. We were told folks that came in, went outside and used a "no wait" app, and were able to seat prior to us on the list. There is no information letting you know this is an option. At 50 minutes, We were seated, and placed our order. While waiting another 40 minutes for our order to come, we observed several tables who ---seated & ordered---- after us, receive their meals. We requested to cancel the order. I went here for lunch with a friend and the truffle mushroom hash was so delicious. I do wish that it did have a few more types of vegetables in it but the Parmesan cream sauce, the arugula on top, the truffle oil, and the mushrooms was all a great combination and it was delicious and I would definitely eat again they also had a pumpkin donuts which I am not usually a fan of pumpkin and they were not as bad as I thought they were going to be. This review is to tell you to get on their waitlist ahead of time especially on a weekend. We were 17 groups deep and decided to go elsewhere but we do love this chain. First Watch should be your first choice for breakfast. I love this place. Although First Watch is a chain, it is not like your typical IHOP or Bob Evans. I'm talking quality food and quality service, without the price tag. I have been multiple times and it has never disappointed. I have gotten a ton of different things off the breakfast menu, but let me tell you about a few of my favorites. The Tri-Athlete Omelet is perfect for you health nuts. It is a three egg white omelet with loads of fresh veggies, severed with a cup of fruit and whole wheat bread. This omelet will not leave you feeling like "ugh I ate so much at brunch and can't move." It is more of a feeling like "I am energized and ready to tackle the day ahead." If you are in the mood for something slightly sweeter I suggest that you try the Rainbow Toast. I am talking berries of every different color on top of sourdough bread covered with cream cheese. I have loved First Watch for a long time but this store stood out among the rest. Our server Cassandra took such great care of us, she was competent and personable and we had an amazing time. This was my first time using the electronic checkout system. I have to say I miss handwriting my tip. I wanted to go above and beyond to say thank you to our server by giving her a $10 tip but I accidentally gave her a $1 tip. I must have missed a zero then opted out of getting a paper receipt, so I didn't catch it until my transaction came through my bank account! I called in to the manager and while I wasn't able to change my transaction they assured me they would reward her and the best thing I could do was pay it forward in a glowing review! Had a business breakfast planned with my employee on Thursday morning. Not incredibly busy because we were seated right away. It was over 30 minutes before anyone even acknowledged our table. The server said he thought we were just sitting there with our computers and he didn't need to help us, or something like that. We finally grabbed his attention when he tried to get the order for the table next to ours that were just seated. He took our order which included your million dollar bacon. I actually suggested having our meeting here just to get the million dollar bacon. It was sooo disappointing. It literally was regular bacon with cold syrup poured over it.... Not what I got at my last visit at your restaurant in KC. Then when our food was delivered my employee ordered eggs Benidict and the food runner lost the egg on the floor, partially on my foot, and did not seem to even notice until we pointed it out. She sat down his meat, sans the egg for him to eat and then brought out another pouched egg about 10 mins later. I ordered the bacon and a side of biscuits and gravy which were stone cold. I fully expected a visit from a manager to ask how our meal was but that didn't happen. We did mention the debacle to the hostess who we we're paying and she apologized and gave us a gift card to get $20 if you spend $20 but brought over no manager either. I guess I should've mentioned I was a Karen and I like that sort of care, but it was a little late at that point. Our server, who continued to not impress us the rest of his time came up to try to help collect our money while we waited for the concession the hostess was bringing. I said we were just waiting and asked if he was new to this restaurant and he did no.... He had been there for two years. I just thought wow.... Good stuff!
