My family of four came here for a late breakfast on Good Friday. It was very busy and we had to wait for a table. No issues there except the gentleman that was taken names (the host) was super rude and unfriendly. My adult sons who were with me (20's) said they had experienced the same by the same man earlier in the week. The food and service was very good. The million dollar bacon is life changing according to my youngest son. I had the breakfast tacos and they were light and clean tasting with good flavor. French Toast was good. Overall it's a shame that the initial experience with the host overshadowed the entire meal. When there is so many options to choose from in the area you would think that something as easy as being actually glad to see and greet customers would be a no brainer. First watch is officially my favorite place to have breakfast! Let's start with getting on the wait list, it's as easy as getting in line through yelp! How easy is that? It saves so much time and they'll show you how many people are ahead of you and they'll text you once a table is ready. The service was great as well, it was really busy the day we went but our server was always making sure we were satisfied and even offered a sample of the kale drink, which I loved! Farmhouse hash: I read raving reviews on this meal but was highly disappointed. There was an odd flavor of pizza. Yes, pizza. However, the avocado slices were fresh which is surprising based on the rest of our order. Kids granola yogurt was loaded with fruit and looked very fresh. This is a solid choice for a good lite breakfast. The wait times can be very long so get up early and use the Yelp waitlist! Why does the music always have to be blasting at full volume? Ask them to turn it down and it's either ignored or they turn it down a notch until a few minutes later when someone turns it back up again. It's a restaurant.... Not a concert hall. We have no clue why someone would take a successful chain like The Egg and I and change it to this name I can never remember and change the menu like they did. The service was much slower even though the restaurant is much emptier than the Egg and I (no wait on a Sunday?!). My husband and I each got the eggs Benedict. We both thought the Hollandaise sauce was bland and boring, which meant the dish fell totally flat. I must confess I did like their million dollar bacon. I also liked that they changed my bread to gluten free bread for no extra charge, but the Udi bread wasn't very good. Sadly, we will not come back again. My son was sad he wasn't going to see The Egg and I ever again, but at least I took a ton of pics of the restaurant during our many past visits. Lastly, if you're going to be eco friendly about straws please switch to paper straws vs not allowing the waitresses to have them on them. In a positive note, this First Watch location rocks!!! I love the staff, they give great service, and our food comes out on time. The League City location doesn't give good service, we waited so long. So, went this morning, got notice that table was ready at 1207pm, we happily placed our orders and where excited to try something new. At 1240pm, we still haven't gotten our food yet, how hard is it to bring out sandwiches and a cup of soup. The waitress Kristie finally noticed we where looking around and she came over and told us would be a few minutes later. We where just too hungry to wait, perhaps it's the norm to wait this long for food here, if so let it be known, your food will be out in 40 min or so. I eat here often and enjoy this restaurant. The trifecta is perfect. I would give them a zero today if I could. Ok , I get it. They want to turn tables and the waiters work off tips. It's an aesthetically pretty cafe style restaurant inside. Opted to go here instead of iHop just to change things up because the parking lots always packed whenever we go to the UPS store next door. We ordered their seasonal dishes; I ordered the short rib omelet with hash with over easy eggs on the hash, while wife ordered the pumpkin spiced pancakes with scrambled eggs. I was disappointed with my dish just compared to the value one gets from iHop my dish wasn't worth it. While my wife enjoyed her pancake her scrambled eggs were over cooked and dry. I always go here with my friend for brunch. We've always had a pleasant experience. With that being said, it all changed today. This random server checked how we were doing, asked us if we were ready to order and we said we weren't. He completely disappeared and never came back to take our order. Another server took our order. Unfortunately, it took him a good 10 to 15 minutes for him to get to our table. He never apologized that it took him long to take our order, he just asked us what we wanted. After that, our food reached to our table but to our dismay, it was incomplete. We were told by another server it would be brought soon but they never gave it to us. I even had to speak to the manager and ask where my friend's side dish was. He apologized and told us "they probably forgot" and grabbed it immediately. Although, one thing I would like to highlight about the manager is that he checked on every table but ours. As a woman and a POC, I felt racially profiled. With that being said, another server came in pre-bus our plates. She was really sweet and even recognized us. I told her what happened and immediately apologized. She offered to grab our check so that we could leave immediately. To also highlight, the server who took our order never checked on us after our food was brought to us. He only came back to give us the check. He said that our table was an "open section" so he emphasized that anyone could be our server. If that was the case, then the receipt would have had 3 to 4 different server names. It only had his name on it. Anyway, I thought that today's service was trashy. I know that me not coming back won't be a loss to this branch because other customers will replace it. First off, I want to say that this is my first review and I had to do this because of the amazing food and service I got today. My server was JaKayla and her energy that she put out was phenomenal. She was very attentive and very knowledgeable. I asked what she liked and she suggested the chiki changa and the red medicine. The Chiki Changa was marvelous. The chicken was cooked perfectly. My one and only complaint was it was FREEZING In there, and I'm a hot natured person. I had to order hot tea just to be comfortable. This is my first visit to this location. The food was good but the service was not. The server came to the table probably within 2 minutes of us sitting down and asked if we were ready to order. I said no and didn't see her again for another 10 minutes, at least. I ordered the smoked salmon frittata which I did like. I asked for potatoes instead of the bread but was given both. I gave the bread to my husband and I ate the entire frittata and most of the potatoes. When this was Egg & I the food was good and reliable. After one visit to the new concept, it will be my last. The food was barely ok. The biscuits and gravy were tasteless even with hot sauce. Potoatoes had no seasonings that i could taste. Didn't get orange juice after ordering until we asked although getting a servers attention wasn't easy too. Never asked how our meal was but not sure I would have been honest either. Just disappointing. Another observation which tells me this concept is doomed.... When i would come in weekends it would be a 30+ minute wait. Now you pretty much get right in. Such a shame. read more
