Service is fine albeit a little slow. This is a constant across many different First Watch restaurants. So don't come here if you're in a rush. What isn't a constant is the quality of the food. I usually have an okay time where I finish the food at least. Nothing special or exceptional. I come here when I'm in a pinch. Plus Waffle House closed down permanently. But, today was the last time I come here just because the food was so stale. I had ordered a market hash. How is it possible to be stale with food cooked to order? The scrambled eggs don't use freshly cracked eggs anymore (or could just be this location?) It's either a premix or powdered eggs. That's a taste you cannot hide. And it was so dry! Like it had been sitting out where the edges of the egg turn transparent/ rubbery. The potatoes in the hash were varying in doneness. Some under and some over. They tasted of old oil. There were teeny pieces of zucchini and maybe 4 pieces of quartered mushrooms. What I've noticed at First Watch is they skimp on the ingredients. It's always under what you would expect to be a good serving. There was a lot of potatoes though which is fine. Also there are floaters in the water. I highly doubt it's an infused water (with lemon or something), so that just completely turned me off from eating or drinking anything. I still paid for my plate ($14.60) which I did not touch much. But I won't be returning because there are better places out there that are fresher and more affordable. read more

I've visited several First Watch locations in the Houston area. This was my first time to come to the Clear Lake/Bay Area location. We were here on a Saturday morning about 8:30 AM and were seated immediately. The staff was friendly, quick and efficient. Once we were seated, were quickly greeted and our drink orders were taken. We normally order the Kale Tonic juice but decided to stick with water today. Since I had already had multiple cups of coffee at home, we also bypassed more coffee. For breakfast, I ordered the Power Wrap from the Healthy Side of the menu. The wife ordered the Frittata Rustica. She substituted the mixed greens for potatoes. Both dishes were served piping hot in about 10 minutes. We ended up bringing the extra potatoes home to mix in our eggs the next morning. As we have grown to expect from First Watch, they were both very good. We were stuffed and well pleased when we left. We'll definitely come back. Bottom line - Great place to eat breakfast. My first visit here was recently. I'm not sure when it changed over from the egg and I but it is a definite welcomed change! The new decor is one of an open plan with modern farm style decorations and pictures on the walls. Edison bulbs upgraded floors are also some of the changes. The menu is vastly different from the predecessor. I ordered the biscuits with turkey gravy. It was very tasty and the gravy reminded me of fresh gravy that my grandmother would make unlike powder mixes that other places use. We also ordered the French toast. It had a great taste but wasn't very filling. It should be accompanied by sides. Our server was friendly but it took a bit to get her to warm up to us. The menu offers many healthy options including vegan and gluten free. We do plan on a return visit and will check out other menu items. read more

Got here about 10:30 for brunch. Only had to wait about 10 mins. The coffee cups are huge. Sever came right over to take our order. I had the omelet. It was very good. The Grits were buttery and creamy. The food came out very fast. Overall the food was good. We also had the fresh squeezed Morning Meditation juice with a booster. It was VERY GOOD. We usually eat here at least twice a month And it's usually great. Today was different. We ordered our usual dishes. My wife's waffle was flat and looked like it had been sitting for a while. When we told the waiter if they could get a fresh waffle, we were told they make all food fresh and don't leave food sitting. Well eventually they replaced the waffle after approximately 15 minutes. This is my first time in this location. We came in on a busy Saturday brunch but was quickly seated. I had a very boozy pomegranate drink that was so yummy! I was surprised at how many servings came in the jar (3) and wasn't even able to finish it myself. I had the chorizo omelet and was a little underwhelmed. Early one morning, before the sun was up, my phone made the chime that denotes my Ring doorbell is alerting me to motion. If you're familiar with the story of the Boy Who Cried Wolf, you'll understand why I ignored it. However, my husband has never read this story and looked at the alert. Imagine my absolute surprise when he said, "there's someone on our porch" and bolted out of bed without a hint of concern for his personal well-being. As I followed cautiously in his wake, I found him walking back towards me with a package in his hands. It was Amazon. Now fully awake at the crack of dawn, we decided to reward ourselves for surviving such a harrowing ordeal by going out to breakfast. He had wanted to try this place for some time, but it was always packed when driving by. We [rightly] suspected that we may be able to beat the rush [thanks Amazon]. It's been a few weeks now and the things I remember are: 1. Being greeted by a friendly and welcoming face and sat promptly in the [mostly-empty] restaurant. 2. We ordered a caramel-crunch cinnamon roll that was swimming in a pool of caramel and topped with Cinnamon Toast Crunch bites to mollify our son at being awoken so early. It was even too sweet for him. 3. Switching breakfast with my spouse. I think I ordered the tacos and they were maybe too spicy for me? I can't remember what I traded for, but I remember that the black beans on the side were cold and had no flavor other than black bean. 4. Being left with the impression that I wanted to go back again and try more of their delicious-sounding dishes. This place is a favorite spot for breakfast for my family. We have frequented several locations all over town. Everything is made fresh. The only issue I have is with the Elevated Egg Sandwich. I love this sandwich, but 8 out of 10 times, the egg is always over cooked and not over easy as it's suppose to. I have to request for another egg to replace it. When it finally comes together, this sandwich is oozing with every bite! Delicious!! My experience at the restaurant was a mixed bag. Walked in excited left disappointed and hungry. We arrived and was seated immediately but that about the end of the fast service we received placed our order and began to watch three couples sat after us order eat and leave before we even received our order. My order was completely wrong and my family's was cold. Meaning it must have waited in the window for a while. Our waiter was only seen once until we have received our order. We had to re ask for items multiple times drinks sat unfilled. When we did see him he was kindly attending other tables and checking on them even though we sat in the middle of the restaurant. I've been to First Watch quite a bit and post covid this was my first visit. Our waiter was amazing and very attentive and the food was great as usual. This is one of the only restaurants where I switch my dish up because it's literally all amazing! We always start with the million dollar bacon as an app (it's listed as a side). I ordered the hacienda hash (new) and watermelon juice (new). They'll come up with limited editions to the menu aside from what they regularly serve and the new additions never disappoint. I feel the need to share my Belgium waffle experience at the First Watch on Bay Area Blvd. The ONLY reason I ordered this tasty breakfast was because of my incurable habit of checking out OPM (Other People's Meals). The couple in the booth directly behind me ordered the Belgium waffle with eggs and bacon, and the dish looked amazing as it was served from a waiter's tray in my direct view. Sometimes I also listen to comments people are making - and the owner of the Belgium breakfast went on and on about how great this waffle was. I vowed there and then to make this my order on my next visit and was not disappointed! Hot tip - use the fruit compote in lieu of the warm maple syrup they provide and you won't be disappointed. (I would have given 5 stars IF they used larger eggs - I finished my 2 over easy eggs in 4 bites). read more

I'm rounding down from a 3.5, mainly because I'm irritated they replaced the egg & I which was one of my favorite breakfast places in the area. It's one of the few times I'm writing a review and can't remember the dishes well, which isn't a good sign. The food was definitely edible, and mostly tasty, but not my favorite relative to others I've tried. The breakfast sandwich had a chance for greatness but I didn't think the ingredients themselves shined like they should have. It was a bit overwhelming overall. I got the hash, which I normally love, at most breakfast places but the egg wasn't very flavorful, potatoes were a bit sad, tasted like they were just boiled and chopped, and the avocado didn't taste super fresh. Once again, wasn't a BAD dish, just not a good one.. We got the French toast for our kid, which was probably the best dish we ordered, but given its so simple, that's not enough to excite me about a restaurant. Overall I wouldn't come back unless if they significantly change their menu or reviews turn around. It just didn't have the same appeal as Egg & I, and the lack of crowds and current reviews reflect that the food and service isn't quite as good as it used to be. read more

Second time I've been to First Watch, but first time at this location and the food was consistently good. I felt very comfortable with the protocol in place for dining during COVID-19. Everyone enjoyed their meals and food was plentiful. Looking forward to going back and trying something different. Side note: I ordered my eggs over medium to help avoid undercooking on my skillet hash, but they still came undercooked. We popped in to a quick bite (breakfast) before heading to the mall. This was my first time here, we typically have brunch at the League City location on Saturday mornings. Everything is pretty much the same, the inside dining area is much more spacious than the other locations I've seen. Service was quick, we received our drink orders in a timely fashion (simple water with lemon, decaf coffee with hazelnut creamer - to start) everyone was courteous and polite. Keisha our waitress was more than accommodating, she answered every question that we had. Everything was very pleasant as I always look forward to trying new items on the menu. On yesterday we ordered the Trifecta with a Belgian waffle, eggs, bacon (and my partner) order the Summer Blush (Watermelon, pineapple, Fuji apple, lemon, cane sugar and mint) which was absolutely delicious, I'm not big on watermelon but this was really refreshing. I, on the other hand had a tough time deciding between the new SUMMER CRAB OMELET (Fresh crab, house-roasted corn and red peppers, Jack cheese and scallions. Topped with hollandaise and Cholula®. Served with lemon dressed organic mixed greens, whole grain artisan toast and all-natural preserves.) or the CORNBREAD CARNITAS BOWL (Savory pork carnitas and grilled cornbread topped with two poached cage-free eggs, black beans, pico de gallo, Cotija cheese, fresh avocado, lime crema and fresh cilantro.) Sadly, I chose the Summer Crab Omelet. I'm from the DMV area, we grew up eating Chesapeake Blue Crabs and all sorts of seafood-so I will admit to being a bit snobbish when it comes to the sort but this was all BAD. The presentation was nice, mixed greens with a lemon aoli (I didn't care for-it didn't pair with the omelet even though it's for the salad, yeah, no!) but that wasn't the issue....the crab in the omelette had a fishy taste to it. Yes, I said fishy!! In my opinion, most crab has a sweetness to it and this wasn't the case, it smelled fishy and taste as if the meat was spoiled(sour). Just to make sure that it wasn't just my taste buds, I asked my partner to try it and she confirmed. My little perfect omelette had to go back, it literally made me nauseous. The manager did come over to our table to discuss the issue(our waitress actually told her about it) she apologized and took the entree off of our bill. I would come back to this location (now that I know where it is). I think that this couple possibly be an isolated situation. Yesterday I saw this **First Watch** had replaced the Egg & I so today we came. I was never a fan of its predecessor. I was impressed by their interior design. MUCH better than before. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We had the Trifecta. The eggs & waffle were cooked correctly. We'll be back. Update: We came back and had what they call "Classic" eggs Benedict. Not so.
