This place is great! Owners are nice and the staff is good. The gumbo is great, my wife's 1st choice if you mention gumbo. Their wings with the spicy Korean flavor are really good, the heat creeps up on you instead of instant heat. The boudin balls are good as well with a few flavors. The catfish is breaded and deep fried to a nice crisp outside but still moist and tender inside. Got to hand it to them, their food is good and the prices are average. read more

I can't believe I've never written a review for this place. I go to lone star college and after class my friend and I would always stop by for a quick bite to eat. My favorite is the fried catfish accompanied by a generous splash of hot sauce and their seasoned fries. The owners are super friendly and the cashiers are very patient and helpful. This time we ordered 2 orders of chicken tenders with fries and 2 orders of catfish, and the fire cracker chicken. All of our food was served burning hot. It was fresh and the chicken was so juicy! I will say the fire cracker chicken was good but it was so oily that it made the steamed rice greasy /:. The oil kind of ruined the dish. Maybe next time I'll order the chicken on the side to help prevent that or maybe get orange chicken instead. This place is always fast! We usually come during the week during school hours and have the place to ourselves but as of late they've been pretty packed and I'm so happy for them! Good food gets business. I came by for dinner one night last week. I had this place bookmarked for a long time but rarely get over to this hood. Ordering at the counter, I asked for the Pick 2 plate consisting of 3 catfish filets and 3 shrimp with a side of cole slaw. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. The food was all good. I liked the large serving of cole slaw which was cool in temp. with a nice slightly peppery taste. The 3 large shrimp and 3 filets were very good and at this price point represented good value. The interior was clean and nicely decorated. They have a TV too. I enjoyed the meal and rated it a 3.5 but will round up due to price. This is a good and affordable place to eat and I would be happy to return if in the area. read more

I will be reporting this place to the health department. The front lady refuses to take responsibility for the food that comes to the table. Says "I don't work in the kitchen" when told that there is hair stuck to my onion ring. The kitchen staff do not wear gloves. Absolutely disgusting. The only reason why I completed my meal here was because I didn't wanna ruin my family time. But surely, the front lady managed to ruin the entire experience by being extemely rude through the whole time I dined there. Clearly she doesn't want any customers coming to the establishment. I used to know the owner of this place and he took such great care of this place. Without supervision, the employees are running a shit show here. read more

I placed an order on Ubereats because I was craving wings and also because of the high ratings (which are well deserved!) I got the 10 piece bone-in wings with half buffalo/half lemon pepper seasoning as well as an order of fried pickles. The wings were crispy, juicy, well seasoned and super tasty! The fried pickles actually surprised me with how good they were - I wasn't expecting much but the coating was crispy and not soggy, even after the 35 minute delivery. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely be ordering them again! Overall, I think this is a solid place for wings. I haven't tried their fried seafood yet but I'm sure it will be just as good :) read more

More like FISH AND SKIMP! My oyster poboy came with just 4 oysters, and they didn't even span the entire bread. See my attached picture. That's exactly how it looked when I opened the box. I mean, come on.... Four? Growing up in New Orleans, I have been eating poboys my entire life and this is by far the worst I have ever received. Aside from the very skimpy portion, the flavor was honestly not that great either with the oysters being slightly overcooked. But wait... There's more! I also ordered the Gumbo. What I received was a bowl that contained 95% rice and just a splash of some stew like substance that I assume they think is gumbo. See my attached pic. That's exactly how it looked when I opened the lid, after just one stir to illustrate the over-ricing. I would provide a comment on the flavor, but it's almost all rice. So, if you've tasted rice before then you should have a pretty good idea of what their "gumbo" tastes like. read more

Crispy, Southern fried and tasty options. I like the different specials they have and we get the Family order of fish to go with our homemade sides for a quick dinner hack. It's no longer the same owner/manager but I like that the food quality is still good. Fried tilapia or catfish, chicken tenders, and French fries are our go-to's + their gumbo is actually pretty tasty (or at least it was last year). read more

Got my food delivered! It was still hot and fresh. I liked the fried fish and shrimp, I wish the fish pieces were bigger they were half a filet cut long ways (so I got 1 and a half total fish. Not "3"), I havn't had fried oysters in a long time but I didnt like them this time, so I won't say it's the restaurants fault. Maybe I forgot the flavor and texture and wasn't ready but I ate them anyway cause I bought it. The tarter sauce taste like it was made by them? Idk but it was yummy and fresh and slightly pink in color. Garlic bread was not delicious. Very flavorless and oily. I prefer the kind from the frozen section. Mine wasn't crisp either it was soft and chewy. I had beans and rice as a side, it looked like gumbo to me at first and has some sausage cubes in the mix. I thought it needed more salt so I added some "slap ya mama" seasoning mix and it was perfect! I got full on the fried meat, so I reheated the beans and rice later when hunger came back and it was still delicious! I would eat there again, I would also try something different. Tamera gave th4 beat customer service. It was just her and the owner. We waited less than 10 minutes for everything and the food was cooked to order. Tamera was very friendly and genuinely seemed happy to serve. The fish basket comes with 3 filets and a nicely proportioned side. The steamed broccoli is well seasoned, very lightly buttered and very fresh. The cold slaw is crispy and sweet. The chicken bowl is hot, perfectly textured and hot. This is THE SPOT, best bang for the buck. Th4 interior is very clean. During down time, Tamera was cleaning and engaging with customers. On 7/29/2021 my family and I visited this place due to walking distance and the clean but comfortable auora we felt from the new restaurant. This was the best catfish po boy I have ever had !! The customer service from the nice young lady at the counter and the friendliness of the manager and his family to ours (our 7 year old was making a new friend with their boy it was so cute !). I ordered for delivery vegetable fried rice, and veggie salad for myself. My Dad had fried tilapia gumbo and seasoned fries. My rice was bland the only flavor I had was the onions. Hardly any veggies and no sauce or anything to help with the taste. The salad had no dressing at all in the package. My Dad didn't complain about his food but the portion size for the gumbo to have an added fee was unacceptable. The seasoned fries was just regular with salt, nothing special plus they were soft and soggy. Will not order again, reviews were my deciding factor but maybe dine in is a better option read more

Delicious wings. Very rarely do you find wings that are breaded & still maintain the true lemon pepper seasoning. They are fried just right, not too crispy or too soft. The seasoned fries are fresh & hand cut. The wait wasn't very long, the place is extremely clean & it has a few nice HD TV's. I will definitely return! read more

Yesterday I went here. The restaurant is clean and there is enough parking because it is in a strip center. They have daily specials which is a good thing and a reward program. Today I already received a text with a reward. Now to the food - I picked the 3 fish and the 3 shrimp with fries. I don't like when restaurants say fillets when it looks more like strips or nuggets. Now don't get me wrong, the food was cooked to order so it was fresh. But it is not fillets like I was thinking. The fish and shrimp was good. I wasn't dissatisfied at all. I also ordered the shrimp balls. They were fried a little too hard for me. The shrimp ball has shrimp, crab meat, cheese and seasonings. It taste fine, just wish it had more cheese. Overall, it isn't the best seafood I have ever had, however I liked it and the prices are not bad. I will return. read more

This place is a bargain. The food was good and priced way too low. I had so much food leftover that I had to take two to-go boxes. The wings were on point. Get the battered buffalo wings. The fish was hot but you could tell that they are not using catfish but are using swai. The chicken egg rolls hit the spot but are on the expensive side. I will be back soon. 3.5 stars. I was in Cypress on a Saturday evening and stopped by Fish & Chicks for dinner. They're located in a shopping center with a fro-yo shop, a trampoline spot, and several other businesses so parking isn't a problem. I do like the name of their restaurant so we were off to a good start. The interior is no frills. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The menu is mostly seafood but they do have non-seafood dishes as well such as chicken wings, teriyaki bowls, etc. A lot of the seafood items are fried but they also have a grilled section. I started off with two crab balls as an appetizer (3.5/5) which come with a nice aioli dipping sauce. Good size to the crab balls too. For my main entree, I went with the grilled catfish which comes with garlic bread and your choice of side (3.5/5). I chose the hushpuppies which ended up being decent but a little too dry. The fish came with the same tasty aioli that the crab balls came with. The catfish was nicely seasoned just a little too salty for my taste. The fillet was pretty thin but I enjoyed it. read more

Clean family-owned establishment everything came out hot made to order I just think the quality of food was good, but not great. The catfish was fried with a cornmeal batter which is not my favorite but that's just a matter of preference so I won't hold it against them. They did not drain the pico before adding it to my tacos so my tacos were dripping with water. I had to eat them as quickly as possible before my tortillas got soggy. The tortillas were store-bought but I can't hold that against them because it's not a Mexican food place, so I expected that. The Korean wings we're too sweet. I think they could have used a little more umami and spice to offset the sweetness. They did not have blue cheese they only had a ranch so if you prefer blue cheese that could be a problem. The ranch was rather runny and although appeared to be homemade was just okay. All in all I think the standalone fried fish or chicken you order there, you can't go wrong with. I don't even like hush puppies however, they must have put a ton of love in those lil balls cuz I killed all 5 of mine! The people working there were all very nice and offered Supertyte service.
