The food and service in this place is great, especially the chalkboard specials. I would have given it 4 or 5 stars if they didn't have descriptions on their drink menu. I ordered an Old Fashion which described it as a muddled orange, Maker's Mark and Luxardo cherry. There was no orange and the cherries were not Luxardo. Really diluted. Our first visit today and we were thoroughly impressed. Felt welcomed at this restaurant, and the whole staff was very friendly and professional. We've been looking for great seafood since we moved here two years ago from the gulf coast and I can't tell you how pleased we were to find this restaurant. The food was great and the restaurant was very clean. We both got the seafood gumbo and it was terrific. I got grilled shrimp, coleslaw, and mixed vegetables, and they were all prepared perfectly . My wife got the fried shrimp Poboy, and loved it. We will be back very soon. I just wish we found this gem earlier. read more

It's nice to finally be getting out again after coronavirus, and one of the first restaurants that we visited was Fish City Grill in Georgetown. It was just as wonderful as we remembered. The Fish & Chips are probably the best anywhere. I was less enamored with my Flounder, but I already know what I'm ordering the next time we visit. The star of the show was the Bread Pudding, which was probably the best I've ever had in my life. Always save room for that. Isaiah was a great waiter, professional, responsive, funny, busy but always had time to answer my questions. We sat inside, but could view the patio, which looked inviting as well. I had a decent enough shrimp po' boy at the Fish City Grill in the Triangle sometime last year, but I understand that location is now closed. Doesn't matter. My parents talked me into driving to Georgetown and having lunch at this FCG with them on Saturday instead of going to the food trailer tour on S Lamar. Evil parents! But hey, I can't say no to a free lunch. It was going to be either here or Cotton Patch Cafe, and my parents decided they'd like to try FCG since they'd never eaten at one. My dad commented that the place is a lot smaller than it appears from the outside. I'm sure it's nice when the weather is warm, as they have some outdoor seating. We met there at noon, but it wasn't very crowded at all, amazingly. Our waiter was average. I don't even remember his name. I was all set to get a shrimp po' boy until my mother pointed out the specials on the chalkboard behind us. I settled on the special called Graham Cracker Crusted Tilapia with Key Lime Glaze. My mother ordered the Pecan Crusted Shrimp Salad, and Dad got an oyster po' boy. Dad didn't realize he could have gotten rice instead of waffle fries with his po' boy. He's not a waffle fry fan. No problem, though, as the fries ended up on my plate, and I ate every last one. Otherwise, he said his sammich was "pretty good", with a slight inflection in his voice. Mom was a little disappointed with her salad because the shrimp were not actually pecan crusted; they were just grilled. There were pecans in the salad, but not attached to the shrimp, so don't be fooled. She said she liked her salad regardless. My tilapia dish was excellent. I was worried that the tilapia wouldn't taste right enveloped in graham cracker crust, but FCG proved me wrong. And that key lime glaze was just sweet enough. It was the perfect complement to the fish. The grilled veggies it came with were just okay. Zucchini, carrots and broccoli were all I recognized. There was another vegetable that looked almost like zucchini, but it also resembled -- and tasted like -- a pickle. I couldn't imagine how this lowly, perfectly rectangular pickle strip ended up on the plate with the rest of my vegetables without being laughed at and shunned by the other vegetables. It simply had no proper place on the plate. If it wasn't a pickle, I'm not sure what it was. An ugly and odd-tasting duckling it was, for sure. There was also rice on the plate that wasn't too great. I couldn't figure out what seasoning it had on it. It tasted like poultry seasoning, though that would be quite strange to bathe your rice in. My dad tasted it and agreed with my poultry seasoning verdict. My mother guessed it might instead be sage, though that, too, seems a bit peculiar for use in rice. So I enjoyed my meal, and my parents said they enjoyed theirs, as well. Our waiter was decent enough, though not stellar. All in all, I can recommend this place. If you happen to see Graham Cracker Crusted Tilapia listed on the specials board, I strongly suggest you try it. One more odd thing: They offer banana pudding as a dessert. Strange for a place that doesn't serve barbecue or comfort food. So maybe that actually was poultry seasoning on my rice and a pickle stick among my veggies. read more

From our first visit to numerous it's never anything less than amazing. Particular shout out to the Manager Mo! She is absolutely the friendliest and most amazing people. Was nearby and stopped here with the family because of the positive reviews on Yelp. My fellow Yelpers did not steer us wrong! Our server, JG was wonderful. He provided great recommendations to our table, was prompt with our service, and was wonderful with our kids. The manager/owner stopped by a few times to chat and check with us - great hospitality! Everything we ordered was on point. EVERYTHING. I had blue point and ugly duckling oysters and they were the bomb - especially those ugly ducklings! Yum! Husband loved the charbroiled oysters! Soup sampler was amazing - definitely know what I'll be getting next time! The crawfish were perfectly cooked and seasoned . The dining area was crowded and very short staffed. However, the over run waitress never let us want for anything. Tea glass filled quickly oyster nachos brought out fast (and tasted amazing- you have to try them!!!). Stuffed flounder was awesome and the bacon wrapped shrimp are good enough to come back again and again. Get the mashed potatoes! I don't know how they do it but grandma would be proud. Dropped in off the street for a bite to eat, and boy was I blown away! The staff were friendly, helpful and patient with me! They even taught me how to eat crawfish so I could enjoy the seasonal menu options! First they came out with and sampler plate so I could get a good idea of there options and flavor profiles, then the brought out a sample crawfish and showed me how to twist and pull in order to get the tail loose. Afterward, I got a pound of crawfish and some of the jalapeño soup, which is delicious and should be classified and an addictive substance! I also want to sample the beignets, but couldn't handle a full order, so the waitress was awesome enough to offer a half order for me! The beignets, amazing! This place could be great with a few changes. First the portions are too small for Texas. $25 for 3 scallops, kinda over priced. The scallops were small too. Second the inside is over crowded. A redesign of the seating is needed. The outside is better, but even though there were a bunch of space heaters sitting out on the patio, when it got cold, the server informed us none of them worked. Sounds to me like they are saving up to get them repaired. The food fortunately was cooked correctly however everything had too much sauce on it. Could hardly taste the scallops with all the sauce on it. Someone needs to take a look at some of these basic things soon. Another good thing were the soups. They were all tasty, however the cup of soup is very small. About half the size of every restaurant I've been too. So another portion issue. Very nice and attentive staff. read more

I thought the blackened catfish was okay but the rest of my table was very disappointed. Lettuce and tomato on the fish sandwich was wilted and stale respectively, by the time they replaced it the sandwich was cold. The crumbed flounder was dry and lacked flavor while the zucchini was barely warmed and rather undercooked. The crab cake was sort of falling apart and small for the $10.99 price. As for the crab soup is was creamy and over salted as was the blacked fish. We wanted to like it but just didn't have the four star experience that yelp promised. read more

I came here for a celebratory happy hour. I was quite suspicious, let's put it that way. A small restaurant tucked away next to clothing stores? It didn't seem promising. Aside from the fact that the place was full of senior citizens I was mildly surprised. The place is small. Smaller than expected. We were seated a the bar right away and our bartender was a very funny young man who was polite and quick. He gave us some great suggestions for fried pickles, calamari, and oysters. Additionally, a margarita devoid of the salt and disgusting store bought sweet and sour. At this point I'm thinking... we've hit the jackpot! We didn't have any meals but I'll probably be back for that. Although our bill was not big the prices for the meals seemed a big high. read more

The hubby and I had received a card for $10 off Fish City Grill back in... look, let's just say it was a while ago. We stuck them in the basket by our front door, and promptly forgot about then. Because we're good like that. Last night, though, we had reasons to celebrate, and we decided we'd fish (hah!) the coupons out and head on over. In the car, my husband noticed the coupons had expired in April, but we figured we were both looking forward to seafood, and we'd go anyway. Best. Tuesday. Decision. Ever. (Except the Tuesday where I realized my husband had been serious when he asked me to marry him on our second date. That's the best Tuesday decision ever. This one was pretty dang good, though...) We showed up, got seated, and Brittany zipped over to get our drink order. John (the hubby) ordered a Front Porch Lemonade to go with our fried pickles (hey, they're GOOD! Don't judge.) Water was delivered lickety-split and the appetizer was on the table soon after. The fried pickles were really good. Nice light coating, not soggy, and the ranch dressing was pretty tasty too. (Okay, I'm a little biased. I could probably drink ranch from the bottle. Um. I'm weird.) We both ordered the crab and shrimp stuffed halibut (I think it was halibut, but I could be wrong. We'll stick with halibut for the ... nah, I won't make that joke. It's just too easy) with mashed potatoes and broccolini. Between the appetizer and the main course, the manager brought over a sampler plate of their soups and oyster nachos. I would probably have licked the little plastic cups if there hadn't been so many folks around, but the crab bisque would have been worth the embarrassment. As for the oyster nachos, they happen to have the only kind of oysters I'll eat, breaded and fried, and they're topped with a nice fresh pico de gallo. So, we sampled all the yummy soups, and then our meals arrived. So. Good. The fish was firm and flaked nicely, and the stuffing was flavorful and not mushy. The sauce over the top was light and a little lemony and all over yummy. The broccolini was perfectly cooked- bright green with a good crunch, but not so crunchy it should have been in a salad. The mashed potatoes had a little bit of the skin mixed in and sopped up the extra sauce nicely. I'm going to admit that I had to leave some on the plate, just because I'd already scarfed down a bunch of pickles, an oyster nacho, and some soups, but it hurt me to do so. Since we were celebrating, John got the bread pudding as dessert. I knew I wouldn't be able to finish a dessert on my own, so he agreed to let me steal some from his bowl and it was yummy. The bread pudding was nice and firm, but still really moist and the sauce was dang good. Overall, I'm sure we're going to be back. Like hopefully next week. read more

My son loved the coleslaw. I had a side salad that hit the spot. The place was busy. Bar full. If we went back, I think I'd try to eat outdoors. Waitstaff was friendly and helpful but maybe a little too much on the chatty side for how busy they were. We just moved to Georgetown and I wanted grilled oysters tonight. Found FSG. Seated promptly outside. It was hot but this is Texas in August. Someone needs to get a ladder and turn their 2 little fans up to actually move air... Maybe management needs to upgrade fan size and give waitstaff a way to help keep customers a bit more comfortable?!?! But more importantly the food: order a hurricane and Diet Coke. Fruit in Hurricane has some issues. Okay: this is Texas in the summer! Morgan took care of it promptly and graciously. Oysters came out and she noticed a hair hanging from fork. Again she was super gracious and dealt with it. We totally understand things happen in the food industry and Morgan could not have been more professional. We will try again and hopefully there won't be any issues. Will call ahead to see if she is working to make sure she serves us again. read more

Today we stopped in and had an awesome lunch. My hubby had the Parmesan Crusted Flounder Special. It was really good. It had a nice sauce on top and came with veggies and rice pilaf. I on the other hand like that they let me pick and choose items on my salad so I requested that they sub out honey chipotle shrimp for the lemon pepper shrimp. No extra charge - makes me happy. Then I subbed out red peppers for the potatoes and pico for the corn - watching my carbs so I'm a happy camper! I had the dressing on the side and all their dressings taste home made. They have a great crab bisque and if you like it spicy add a little or a lot of the Louisiana hot sauce sitting on the table. It isn't crazy hot but adds a great flavor to an already great bisque. read more

We went here on a recommendation and so grateful for that. Very casual place but with good quality food. The waitress, Savannah, did a fantastic job of welcoming us on our first visit. She talked over the menu, the "board specials" and even the happy hour specials. BTW, happy hour is 2-6pm Mon to Fri with 1/2 off oysters and shrimp, and a few beverage specials that all looked reasonable and I'm going to try that this Friday. She provided some samples of each of the soups; all were very good, however the jalapeño soup was amazing. By itself it has a robust flavor, with enough spiciness but not "hot". Savannah recommended mixing the jalapeño with the crab bisque and that made an absolute divine soup. I recommend both and mixing them to get the full flavors of both. Also tried the oyster nachos, good overall, however the in my opinion the pico on top does take away from the flavor of the oysters slightly. Main course was the chicken fried flounder and again I was mazes at the dish. Very hearty portions, enough left over for lunch tomorrow. The fish is breaded hen served with a peppering gravy over the top. Very good creation, so I recommend you be bold and go for something of the beaten path. We were too full to attempt dessert but I did notice a bread pudding at an adjacent table that looked spectacular. read more

I give them 2 stars only because I had been there previously with a friend and it was good - grilled oysters & cole slaw - outstanding! service that day was decent June 2021 - I took my husband - we have been looking for a seafood restaurant since moving back home to the Austin area.. 2 O'clock in the afternoon on a Saturday - it was not crowded. after waiting several minutes (more than 4) for someone to acknowledge us - we were seated - the host put silverware packs on the table and walked off without a word - not even an explanation about online menus only 5 minutes later - as we were getting up to leave - we finally got a waiter. he took our drink and appetizer order. a few minutes later - he asked "uh, did you order calamari or fried pickles" - I can understand his confusion CALAMARI sounds just like PICKLES, He brought water and my husbands glass of wine. My UNsweetened iced tea - never showed up. calamari was delicious! the best part of the meal. Fish and chips were good and 10 minutes later when my fish sandwich finally arrived - my husband was close to being finished with his meal. My sandwich was very disappointing. the bun was cold (just out of the refrigerator cold) should have been toasted! the grilled fish I ordered, was fried - the cole slaw was french fries - by this time, I was really hungry so I ate it anyway - never got an apology from the waiter....never got an offer to fix the mistakes. You know how you are in a place and the staff is enjoying themselves? that was NOT the case - these people was bordering on miserable - like NOBODY wanted to be there - they were doing the bare minimum to get through their shift. Oh my gosh, I think we have found one of our new favorite restaurants! The food was amazing, the service was great, and we know we will be coming back again soon. The calamari and charbroiled oysters were a great starter. (My son loves calamari, so that happened to be the whole reason we picked this restaurant.) I had the Alaskan salmon special of the day, and my husband enjoyed the blackened trout. (Kids split a huge quesadilla and fries.) If we would have had any room for dessert, I'm sure it would have also been fabulous. My husband and I are hoping to come back for some fresh oysters during happy hour. Oh! And they let us try their soups and their oyster nachos since it was out first time in, too. I think the next time I want crab, I will rush there for the crab bisque. We had lunch here yesterday for 4th of July and it was outstanding! Michael served us and he went above and beyond to provide high quality service. He even brought us some samples while we waited for our food. We ordered the calamari from happy hour, it was delicious! Probably the best calamari I've had. For entrees, I had the Fish & Chips (they were also amazing!) and fiancé had a burger that he said was really good. Overall a really great experience and would definitely recommend. My husband and I visit the Georgetown location of fish city grill about once a week. We enjoy the different items on the menu and also the friendly ambience afforded by the restaurant. If the weather is nice you can sit outside on the patio with your pup and enjoy a cocktail or some iced tea, whatever you desire; some of our favorites are the oyster nachos and the seafood enchiladas.
