Popped in for dinner on a Tuesday and was warmly greeted immediately. The place was busier than expected but it appeared people were in for happy hour that ends at 6p. It's a fairly small-medium-size dining room so it can get a bit loud. The food was great. It did take some time to come out but overall the flavor was great on everything. If you're in the mood for some amazing fish dishes, head this way immediately! My first time here, will definitely be back. My server Paul was super friendly and very attentive, I never had to ask for anything! The dining area is spacious, there are tvs above the bar, the volume of the place was a bit loud but didn't bother me. The salmon dish I had was absolutely divine. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the spinach was fresh and not over cooked and the mashed potatoes were fluffy and delicious. I visited around 4pm and there was already a nice crowd, but there wasn't a wait. I see this is place having a wait in the evening though. The tables can be expanded so this is a good place for groups as well! The kitchen manager even came out to ask me how my visit was and that really tells you a lot about this place. They really want to make sure you enjoy your time. The prices may be on the high side for some but I believe the quality of the food and the service merits the price. This place was very so-so. The fish sandwich tasted exactly like the filet o fish from McDs!! And the coleslaw they serve is terrible! The catfish was also no big deal! Not too many people there at the time so I was served immediately. I sat at the bar while I waited and scanned the atmosphere. This place has a fresh and clean ambiance...somewhat airy. I really liked the feel of it. I ordered the two piece combo which I selected fried catfish and cod fillets along with coleslaw and Cuban beans and rice. EVERYTHING was delicious! All of the food items are VERY large here. We had great service on our last visit, and couldn't have been more pleased. If you are looking for a seafood joint, this is the place to go. They have a good variety of options, and also some land lubber options. The fish tacos ($18) are good, but I would describe them as fish burritos since all the tasty contents are wrapped in a flour tortilla, and then toasted a bit, like a burrito. The serving size is GINORMOUS! Plenty of food for two people, and I'm not exaggerating. It comes with rice and black beans, but you should spice it up a bit with their tabasco sauce. The Fishwich ($15.50) was also ginormous. The fish overflowed out of the toasty hamburger bun it was served on. The fish (cod) on the sandwich and the fish tacos were cooked perfectly - a crispy coating, while keeping the inside flaky, but not dry. However, there could be a little more seasoning or zip added to each entrée. Things were just a bit bland. While visiting San Antonio, my son suggested we try Fish City Grill, and I'm so glad we did! The food was absolutely amazing, fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Our waitress was super friendly and made some great recommendations that didn't disappoint. We tried the shrimp and lobster queso with chips, and it was delicious, creamy, rich, and packed with seafood flavor. Definitely something we'll be ordering again next time. Good was 9/10! I have been twice now and enjoyed both dinners. I tried all of my companies food and did not have anything to report back about, aside from wanting malt vinegar for my fish. Oysters on the half shell were good and competitively priced. Server didn't seem to have much knowledge on wine or beer, but we managed to get what we wanted. Clean, bright, open restaurant. 13 Nov 2024 We really wanted to love this place. The other Yelpers have given this place an average of 4.6 stars. I had the stuffed flounder. I pictured a nice filet split down the middle and stuffed with the scallop/shrimp mixture. It turned out to be something like a small burrito. The flounder was very thin, I must have missed the shrimp and the scallops were huge. I wished they would have been cut into smaller pieces. I used my knife to cut them down. The dish came with the lime rice and julienne vegetables. Rice and veggies were good. The fish lacked flavor. The husband went for one of the items on the chalkboard - redfish with Thanksgiving oyster stuffing. No other sides. He did not especially care for it. We had some tasty iced tea. The sweet is very sweet. My half and half tea was still very sweet. We started with cups of clam chowder. Quite tasty. Plenty of clams. They were out of gumbo, which sounded good in its description. Maybe the fried food is better than what we had. The place is pretty. It used to be a BurgerFi. There is outside seating. We sat inside. Our server Rocky, is dynamite. The interior is bright and casual with a midcentury modern look. The friendly staff provide table service but it feels informal, not stuffy. The chalkboard is a great way to find out about specials and seasonal dishes. The menu is eclectic, with Mediterranean, Cajun, Mexican, and Asian influences -- plus fish and chips. The menu had lots of choices for healthy eating, such as high protein meals with plenty of vegetables on the side. New hot spot alert! This place is popping with delicious sea food. They have other non-sea food items but that is their speciality. The cocktails drinks were delicious! They have items that are seasonal on a chalk board menu. Our server didn't make a couple of recommendations to us, especially since some items are seasonal. Overall, the service was decent for it being a new restaurant. We did have to wait longer than 30 minutes for our food, but we were grateful that they brought out the kids food before. That helps keep them calm. I don't know if this should be on here, but do use caution when going to the bathroom because the water was so hot to wash your hands. It was nice that at the end of our service they gave us 20% off coupon on your next meal. We will definitely be visiting again. read more

Where to begin? We were visiting San Antonio and looking for local, yummy places to eat. We love food, and our 5 year old daughter is a foodie, too! We headed in to Fish City Grill on a Monday evening around 7:30. First off, the restaurant is beautiful! You can tell they really took time to tie in all the details, it is very clean, and a great vibe, too. Our waiter, River, was awesome! He quickly took our orders of fish n' chips, crab bisque, and spicy chipotle blue cheese fried shrimp- and made sure our drinks were never empty. Everything came out fresh, piping hot, and smelling delish! We LOVED everything. The fish had the right amount of breading that was fried to perfection. The crab bisque was flavorful with many chunks of sweet crab. Our daughter GOBBLED the bisque and declared this to be "the best feast ever" - high praise from a seafood lover! The shrimp were unepected and really good, too. I like spice and this was flavorful and an interesting (in a good way!) combination of chipotle, blue cheese, and tender shrimp. The price point was great, parking was easy, delicious food, wonderful ambiance and service- just a perfect dinner overall! This is an awesome restaurant. The location at 281 and 1604 by the HEB is smallish making it feel cozy. Every on was so nice. The food is great. We were new to the restaurant and she surprised us with a welcome sampler of their 4 soups and fried oyster mini tostadas. Very nice idea and soups and oyster were excellent. Incredible meal from start to finish! The staff was so welcoming, and since it was my first time, they offered me a sample of their smoked fish dip, which was fantastic. I ordered the salmon, and it was cooked perfectly--flaky, moist, and so fresh with no fishy taste. The addition of fresh garlic chunks and spinach was delicious. First time trying Fish City Grill. Will not be the last. We dined at their location near Alamo Heights in San Antonio, TX. Very nice interior with an outdoor dining area as well. The food was awesome from the gumbo, the dirty rice, the red beans and rice, and the two fish dishes we tried. I would say one of the top 3 gumbos, dirty rice, and red beans I've ever tried. Glad they have a location in Lakeland, FL since we live in Orlando. I'm taking a bread pudding back to my hotel to hopefully be able to add that to my list of excellent food. The family has eaten here twice now and the second time proved that the first was no fluke. The food was great and the service was exceptional. I have had the lobster and shrimp grilled cheese (pretty good) and the blackened redfish (great). My wife had the scallops on the recent trip and raved about them. My kids got the "damn good bacon cheeseburger" (actually really good for a fish place) and have also had fish and chips which got the thumbs up. Fried pickles were ordered as an app both times. What brought us back so quickly was the service. There was a very small issue with an order the first occasion (not enough of an issue for us to point out), but our server, Sami, noticed and let us know that was not acceptable and made our overall experience that much better. We go to one fish city or another every weekend but won't be going very much going further. They have redone the menu and it's ridiculous. They have taken off atleast 5 things I usually eat, portions have shrunk tremendously, prices have hiked and overall the service isn't that great. There are a few servers we really enjoy but they are few and far between. Also the menu seems to be leaning towards a bar atmosphere not making it that family friendly which I also think is a huge mistake. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great with an intimate feeling, but not being overly stuffy or loud.
