I was visiting San Diego from Vegas and Fish Guts was on my list of restaurants to try. Fish Guts did not disappoint. I tried the estilo baja taco, the al pastor taco and the espada taco paired with a Mexican Coke of course. The flavors of all 3 tacos were amazing (chefs kiss)! You can taste the freshness and quality of the fish and ingredients used. The Mexican tartar sauce was so tasty! If you get there at the right time you can enjoy a view of the sunset while enjoying delicious tacos that'll make you dance in your chair ("mmm mmm so yummy"). I definitely recommend San Diego peeps and will recommend to Vegas friends and family who visit San Diego. I will be back to try the rest of the items on the menu and a margarita or two read more

You gotta wait a little bit, but good things take time--why would quality food service be any different? I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms or cilantro, yet the veggie taco somehow blew me away. Everything we ordered was brilliantly balanced in flavor. They were out of the salmon, so we will be back soon to try it. The swordfish was swoooooon! The fish and chips had the right amount of attention to detail in the garnish but somehow still had the ability to read like a classic. We went with a party of 5 and they told us they can't seat more than 4 people when there was seats available together but they told us no so if you have a party of 5 or more don't even go they will split you up. Next I ordered a virgin margarita since I'm 9 month's pregnant and the waitress said she wouldn't know how to make that so I couldn't order anything but the ice tea. Is it really that hard to make a margarita without alcohol? Lastly, it took over an hour to get our tacos, we only ordered two orders of tacos... definitely not worth it! The tacos are tiny, they are appetizer size, I left hungrier than when I got there. Don't bother coming you can get better fish tacos at a taco shop by the parking lot. read more

I'm so bummed...we really wanted to like this place. I hope the feedback is helpful because everyone working the front was so nice. We arrived at opening time, Noon, and got seats outside. We ordered the smoked fish dip and 3 orders of tacos. We got the smoked fish dip around 12:30, but by 12:47, still no tacos. We saw around 4-6 tacos in total come out of the kitchen. I imagine they were backed up because they had around 25 or so people seated and all the seats were taken but it was Saturday and it really didn't seem like they were ready to serve a full house. We ended up canceling our order, paying for the dip we got and left. Again, the front staff were so kind and helped us check out quickly and apologized for the wait - that's the reason for the 2 stars. But after 47 minutes and we still didn't have our order, it just was too long to excuse. We would have maybe tried to stay but the seating is mostly outdoors and the chairs are really just stools, so not backs to them. After that long, we just were too cold and too uncomfortable to stick it out further. I hope this feedback is helpful because the food that did come out looked great. Great place for fish tacos! There are a variety of different tacos. We split the blackened swordfish and coconut shrimp tacos. Each was delicious and just the right amount of spicy. Nice selection of beers. As good as the food is, the staff was even better: delightful, helpful and sweet. read more

I hope to come back and leave 5 stars but this place has some things to work out. I arrived and it took about 10 minutes just to order even though there were only 3 people ahead of me. When it was my turn I was told it would be AT LEAST 45 minutes wait if I ordered one sandwich (there was a nice handful of people there but was nowhere close to packed). Obviously the whole point of only offering one item for their lunch menu is to prioritize quality and efficiency. I'm sure the quality is great but efficiency is ridiculous. Maybe they need more fryers or something. But to only be producing one menu item and not be able to churn it out in a reasonable time is hard to understand from a professional establishment. read more

This is an extremely frustrating place. In four trips I've only been able to eat once. I've been there on different days and at different times. The one time I was able to get some food, it was wonderful. The baja taco, the fish n chips taco - fantastic. Creative, beautiful and delicious food. But they are always running out of food. Either that or they are too busy. Right now its 7:25pm on a Wednesday. There are seats available by the window. But the server just told me that they are closed because they are sold out. The food here is really good. Definitely worth the try. If you plan on coming here I will say make sure you have the patience to wait. We waited about 1 hr since the local is a bit small, also if you are not one of the first customers you might not get to try their whole menu, the adobada salmon tacos and the dessert were sold out by the time we got there and we were there 2 hours after they opened. We tried their version of the Baja fish taco, a shrimp one as well but to be honest the stars of the show for us were the swordfish and the mushroom tacos. I would come back to do the wait again just for these two tacos. Texture is on point, you can tell the fish is fresh, and the ingredients chosen are well thought out. The mushroom is unique and very different from any other mushroom taco I have tried, it was beautifully constructed and the components worked to a tee. For drinks we had their adobada drink which is really good if you like pineapple and I personally feel nostalgia any time I see a spot that offers Sangria Señorial. This is not alcoholic and it's a grape soda that just hits the spot in my opinion. The ambiance was nice but since you are more than likely sharing a table or bar with other guests we did ran into a couple that was very talkative. Not a negative per se but we really didn't want to be speaking to other people. I would recommend to anyone who wants some tasty food and a different take on seafood fare. Pablo and Yhara are two of the nicest people in Barrio Logan. They're are incredibly welcoming and offer a wide range of flavors with their fish tacos. I recommend the swordfish tacos!!! We found this place by chance on Yelp, and we are so glad we did! The food was excellent, we had the fish sandwich and the shrimp tacos, and they were delicious. The service was fantastic, very friendly and helpful staff, felt like a home away from home. The ambiance was fun, too, in the middle of Barrio Logan, a historic and artistic town with Mexican roots.
