Right across from Disneyland, our night ended with an up close view of the Disneyland fireworks. Everything tasted amazing. We ordered the Nori and Cheese Fries, Tofu Seafood Salad, 2 Double Shrimp Tempura Rolls, Rainbow Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, and Spicy Tuna Roll. My mouth is watering from writing this review... The rolls were large, flavorful, and had good amounts of fish. High quality fish here. My personal favorites were the salmon and tuna rolls. The salmon was rich and fatty. The spicy tuna had a mild kick of spice, making it enjoyable for almost any spice tolerance. I noticed the wasabi and soy sauce were milder than what I'm used to. A photographer comes by each table to take pictures. They offer 4 framed photos for purchase and give you 1 free printed photo with a QR code to purchase the digital copies. We decided not to purchase any of the photos. Seating options include sushi bar/counter seating and tables. Tables are separated by bamboo dividers, providing a more private dining experience. This restaurant was moderately busy during dinner on a Friday night. Service was timely and staff were attentive. Our waters were regularly refilled and they checked on our table throughout our meal. The restaurant fully validates parking here. Don't forget to get your ticket validated!

It ended up being much more casual than we expected, with an atmosphere that felt like stepping into a restaurant from the '90s inside an older hotel. Not necessarily a bad thing--just different from what we had in mind for a birthday dinner. That said, the food was excellent and definitely the reason we'd come back. I also really enjoyed their selection of Japanese-inspired beers, which paired perfectly with the meal and were a fun addition to the experience. We started with the spicy edamame, which was good, though not a showstopper. The Chef's 10-piece nigiri was the highlight of the meal. Every piece was fresh and delicious, but the yellowtail and unagi were absolute standouts. We also ordered the spicy salmon roll, which was really good, and the double shrimp tempura roll, which was exactly what you want from a tempura roll--you really can't go wrong with it. Our server was very kind and friendly, but service wasn't especially attentive. It seemed like they may have been understaffed, so there were longer waits between check-ins than we would have liked. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the food and drinks. If you're looking for high-quality sushi and don't mind a nostalgic, old-school atmosphere, Hanagi is worth checking out. Just go in expecting excellent food rather than a luxurious dining experience.

The sushi was absolutely delicious and incredibly fresh, with so many great choices that everyone in our family found something they loved. The AYCE option was perfect for a birthday celebration, and we really enjoyed being able to try a variety of dishes together. What made the evening even more special was the friendly and welcoming service. Everyone was so kind and attentive, and they helped create a fun and memorable atmosphere for such an important milestone in our son's life. Thank you, Niku Sushi, for making our son's 18th birthday celebration extra special! We'll definitely be back!

Cons: -Value & Limitations: For a $40 AYCE option, the restrictions are disappointing--no sashimi included, no torched sushi options, extremely limited seared offerings capped at two pieces per person, and no ice cream. -Service Issues: Service was notably slow. Staff blamed a nearby conference, despite there being no actual conference attendees seated in the restaurant. -Staff Knowledge: The staff appeared unfamiliar with the basic culinary concept of a torched sushi roll, confusing it with seared items.

This quaint mom & pop-styled Japanese bistro is really cute. The food's fresh and generous portions are served in the Bento Box. The Chirashi Bowl is filling and the Salmon plate is well worth the Daily Special price. All 3 of us left satisfied. As for the final bill, it was very reasonable for full-fledged meals and fresh seafood. In addition, Toyo has really good menu specials on sushi, sashimi, and masubi. Plus, if you check in on Yelp, you get to try their creamy mochi ice cream. We got to try two Strawberry Mochis. All in all, it was a quick and charming lunch spot. Our server was very accommodating. Our food came out quickly. Our bellies were full and our smiles were too.

The fish had a dull color and an off taste that made several pieces hard to finish. Rolls felt like they had been sitting around, and the rice was dry and pasty in spots. For a sushi restaurant, freshness should be non-negotiable, and this just didn't deliver. Customer service was equally frustrating. Staff seemed uninterested and inattentive. Orders took a long time, questions about the menu were brushed off, and no one checked in during the meal. It left the whole experience feeling careless. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Toyo Sushi & Roll based on this visit. There are better options nearby that actually prioritize fresh ingredients and decent service.
