    Catfish & Prawns Combo
    Justin R.

You know pretty solid. Really deserves 3 & half starts but can't go the full 4. The good: The customer service is great. The guy at the front counter behind all of the bullet proof glass is incredibly nice. The large portions definitely match up to the $$. Had the catfish and prawns combo. Food was fried very well, both the catfish and prawns were pretty tasty. Also loved how they throw a little bit of Cajun seasoning on the fries to give it a little umph. The bad: No seating at all, this is strictly takeout. The decour is a menu and bullet proof glass. Also, it took a while for the food to be made. Would definitely recommend calling ahead 15-20 minutes in advance.

    Dirty rice?

The fish, oysters, and shrimp were really good. I would order the meat again. However, the sides were disappointing. They should remove the dirty rice from the menu because what I was given was yellow rice with a little hamburg meat on top. I was so confused when I first opened the container.

Please don't waste your money. They put burnt meat hella season on a whole bowl of plain rice !!

The fish was so overcooked it shrunk within it's own coating. Chewy and hard coating

This is going to be a difficult review, primarily because the dudes at this place is so nice. The service is phenomenal. But I don't come here for the social aspect. My partner and I's favorite fish spot is in Vallejo. Reason being is after 22 yrs of being in Oakland we still haven't found a stellar fish place. So today we decided to try something new...give Oakland another chance. This was the place we decided based on the reviews. The fried snapper was overcooked, old, frozen fish. So dry the fish itself dried up to a little strip within the overly crisp batter. It also carried that old fish smell. Like either they've been using the same oil for a minute or the fish is just been thawed for a min. They provide a side and a corn muffin with the meal. The muffin was dry and processed. I chose the greens as a side and they were o-k. Quite honestly the greens were the best part of the meal. I also come from a long line of Black soul food cooks so standards are high. It seems like this place is trying to cook soul food but it's missing the soul. Once again the guys at this place are super cool and just on that I've given 2 stars. The ambiance and experience you get once you visit this place is part of the appeal.

Generally my son and I have always been happy with the food here, though a few weeks ago when we ordered, my calamari wasn't good. It was tough and too salty. About that... today an elderly Black woman was complaining at the register about the catfish she bought yesterday, saying it was too salty. She did say other food items she had bought in the past were good. But I digress.... Today we ordered the okra, bean pie, strawberry cake, banana pudding and a 3 combo that included chicken, fish, jumbo shrimp and fries. Their okra is some of the freshest I've ever tasted. A lot of places that have fried okra on the menu don't use fresh okra, and you can tell by how it tastes. I don't eat chicken but my son said it was perfect. I tried the shrimp and catfish. Both were super fresh and fried well, crispy without being greasy. I thought both were a bit salty, though not enough for me to dislike them. My son didn't think they were salty at all, but I did, and the elderly woman did too, so I'd say if you're sensitive to things being salty, this may not be the place for you. All of it was very fresh and well-fried though. The bean pie was good , though maybe a bit dry. It had a nice flavor, kind of like pumpkin pie. The strawberry cake was outstanding. Mmmm!!! The fries were okay; not crazy good but not bad either.

I live in Modesto now and still make the trip because it's that good. The chicken wings are hands down my favorite--crispy, crunchy, and seasoned perfectly. The jumbo shrimp is another reason I keep coming back. My recommendation: eat it as soon as you get it! Don't wait too long, or you'll lose that perfect crunch that makes it so good. Overall, great food, great flavor, and definitely worth the drive. 10/10, highly recommend!

I ordered the snapper fish sandwich with a side of greens. The greens were an additional $4 but somehow I was charged an extra 50 cents on top of that. My partner ordered the Tasty Treat combo, and it was far from tasty. The chicken didn't taste fresh; it tasted reheated. The shrimp were mediocre and both of his sides were disappointing. The yams were bland and watery, even after we tried to doctor them up with sugar, cinnamon, and a bit of lemon. The mac and cheese wasn't cheesy and was also very bland. My snapper sandwich was underwhelming. The fish didn't taste fresh and the sandwich only had lettuce and tomato, no cheese (-_-). The collard greens were ok but they had a lot of stems and I'm pretty sure I saw mustard greens mixed in. Our total came out to a whopping $58 including tip and I low‑key regret tipping that much because the food was not satisfying at all. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

OMG. This is definitely one of those hole-in-the-wall places that completely surprises you…read more We came here because our friend Warren recommended it, and now I understand why. It's tucked away in Oakland in a spot you might easily drive past without noticing. The setup is simple: order at the window, get a vibrating pager, then pick up your food when it's ready. They also have outdoor seating, which is perfect if you're bringing your dog along. They offer all kinds of silog meals, and honestly, before coming here, I thought all silog places were pretty much the same. While standing in line, I had no clue what to order. The special that day was the G Fire Short Ribs, and I kept going back and forth between trying something new or playing it safe. I ended up getting the pork tocino silog, and for the second dish, I almost ordered the spare short ribs. Thank God I got the G Fire Wings instead. OMG. OMG. OMG. These are hands down the BEST wings I've had in the Bay Area. The skin is crispy and crunchy, but the moment you bite in, the meat is unbelievably juicy. Seriously, when do you ever get wings that are actually juicy? Most wings are dry. Not these. The flavor, the sauce, the seasoning--everything is absolutely incredible. It's the kind of food that makes you lick every finger afterward. If it were socially acceptable to eat the bones too, I probably would have. And here's the funny thing: while I was in line, it seemed like everyone ordering was getting the G Fire Wings. Now I know why. If this place were closer to where I live, I'd be here all the time. I'm still thinking about those wings days later. The good news is we go to Oakland at least once a month for hiking and camping, and now Lucky Three Seven is officially part of the tradition. It'll either be our reward after finishing a hike or our stop before heading to camp. Thank you, Warren, for recommending this place. You absolutely nailed it. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 (simple, casual, outdoor pet-friendly seating) Parking: Street parking; may take a little patience depending on the time of day.

Anyway, I know why other cultures only have had lumpia when asked if they tried Filipino food lol that is mostly what this spot sells, and wings. They probably have a handful of actual Filipino dishes, but it's not a spot you'd go to if you have a true Filipino cuisine itch like for some dinuguan or kare kare. The cashier is not friendly, just a straight shooter. And you're yelling into a glass which makes it seem hood, but I didn't feel unsafe and I had my toddler with us. They charge per wing and extra for dipping sauces. It seems like they sell out quick too cause one customer left without any and it was only mid afternoon. We ordered the longsilog and coconut adobo. I will say that it was a lot of food for the price which always a bonus. The flavor was also fire! I love the mural of their beloved owner across the street, RIP. Definitely worth a try, but to those who only try lumpia and consider it Filipino food, please venture out and try one of their breakfast plates (silogs) and then try one of the other main dishes. You won't be disappointed!
