We HAD been a regular here until new ownership took over then everything changed. Service was totally abysmal, food, I'd rather eat at Dairy Queen. Not to impressed. No bread with the meal. I had the grilled seafood platter and the fillets were tiny, oysters looked out of a can. The shrimp was ok but my sons fried shrimp was better. The onion rings were not up charged and good. Chocolate meringue pie was so sweet it was inedible. Service was good. It takes a lot for me to be this emphatic about a review but we have given this restaurant several tries and have walked away with the same experience each time. Which their location is ridiculous enough - you not only have to leave your table - you have to leave the restaurant - walk the length of the building OUTSIDE just to get to them. If you want good country food in a very relaxed, country atmosphere then you will love this little fisherman's feeding hole. We had the biscuits and bacon gravy, scrambled eggs, grits, home fries and jalapeño cornbread. Nothing disappointed us, but the biscuits and gravy and jalapeño cornbread by far stood out to us. The place seemed clean enough although we were taken a little aback when we were told that we would have to literally "go outside & around the corner" for the restrooms." The signs on the doors were a little disheartening as well as it was obvious that not everyone was welcomed there. If we weren't so hungry, already placed our orders & in the middle of nowhere we would have left. But just be warned - if you are part of the LGBTQ community I wouldn't go here. So back to the restaurant. When we first walked in a young man (I'm guessing 16 spoke up from a seated position behind the checkout station & told us to sit wherever we liked. He was very friendly but still - he did startle us both. Lol Then our waitress shows. My husband tells me to get him water while he goes to find the restroom & she approaches our table. I haven't even had a chance to look at the menu. Question: what do you want to drink? Answer: May I take a moment to look? Question: well we don't serve no alcohol or nothing! Answer: how about unsweet tea then. And some water? Question: really??? Answer: yep! That's it. She walks away. We place or order. My husband orders French fries as his second side. Question: fresh or frozen? Answer: seriously? Response: yep. Answer: fresh. Probably should have gotten frozen. They were limp & flavorless. Now - the onion rings are to die for & the fried catfish was good as well. Also the tarter sauce was very good. So now my husband & I are seeing desserts go by & we are hearing people talk about pie. There are probably 20-25 people eating here. So we ask our waitress what kind of pie she has. Answer: chocolate, coconut, lemon. Question: cream or chess Question from her: what? Love the atmosphere of this mom & pop place but the quality of the food could be better. I've been here twice, first time fried flounder and hush puppies. I love spicy so I would have loved some kick to the hush puppies and a mixed review on the fish, some pieces were really good and some were a strange consistency. We also tried the shrimp gumbo. It's very blonde but has a nice flavor and kick to it. Second visit was breakfast. I ordered fried eggs, Bacon and grits with biscuits. The grits were way too stiff, not very good, bacon could have been better too, seemed like it might have been microwaved to get it to my specifications, crunchy. The biscuits seemed homemade. So although the food could be better, I do like supporting local. I want to keep coming back but they do need to improve some things! read more

As others have observed, it's not much to look at. In fact, there's a low hanging haze over the room from there not being enough ventilation over the fryer. We came at 12:40 on Tuesday and got right in. The restrooms are outside, so you may want to use them before coming inside. I ordered the fried catfish, onion rings and salad. My husband ordered the fried chicken tenders with white cream gravy, pinto beans and French fries. The food came out hot, fresh and plenty of it. Husband said that it's good. We won't return because it is not to our taste. Others may enjoy it. I prefer a corn meal batter instead of their flour batter on the fish. All the fried food tasted alike as if everything was fried on the same fryer. Can't complain about it, just not to our tastes. read more

We went here with the family and it was definitely a fried, starch filled feast. I had the shrimp and cod with french fries and a side salad. The menu has fresh and frozen fries on the menu which makes me laugh. The fresh fries were delicious, and my side salad came with a bottle of ranch, which made me extremely happy. The cod and shrimp were both battered well, and they had great tartar sauce. My husband had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and onion rings-all of which he loved. My mother-in-law also had cod with the fried squash and a sweet potato, I tried one of her fried squash, and it was pretty tasty. My father-in-law had the chicken gizzards along with a baked potato and side salad, and he seemed quite pleased. The Texas toast that comes with all meals was AMAZING. Absolutely great old school fried food, probably one of the best chicken fried steaks I've ever had, native Texan of 40+ years here. Seriously excellent food, loved the onion rings too, mashed potatoes were good but the brown gravy was only pretty good. Should have asked for more cream gravy which is amazing. Seafood platter was also excellent, and I'm not a fan of ranch dressing but damn theirs is spectacular and home made. So why only 4 stars? The place is a bit dingy, restrooms are outside (no big deal), and the tables and chairs are all pretty sticky, but the plates and silverware were good and clean, and the food as stated was incredible. We went here on Valentine's Day 2020. They had an amazing steak special. I really love this place the steak was cooked perfect. Enough for two people and we still had a huge half a steak to take home. The sides were amazing. We even tried the coconut cake which was huge! The staff are so friendly!
