The massage was good and the price was great, and I actually like that there's a sheet on you the whole time because I have a big tattoo that I don't feel like talking about. BEST MASSAGE PLACE EVER! The place is nothing fancy like a spa, but it's clean and everyone is very friendly here. I have recommended this place to a bunch of my friends, and since then, Fishion Herb Center has became their go to place to get a good massage with a very reasonable price. Fishion, you don't know how much I miss you! I really do miss seeing you every weekend. That's how I feel. Seriously. I started going for weekly visits sometime way back in 2003 and stopped going sometime in 2007 only due to the fact that I was busy with my newborn babies at the time. This massage place is great. If you want a really good massage or reflexology, try this place out asap. I won't mention any specific names of massage therapists there because that's not fair. Seriously speaking, they are ALL very good. In the beginning, I used to try a different therapist out every week, and I came to the conclusion that everyone was great. I normally have to ask the masseuses to up the ante, but I didn't think twice. After a really intense (sometimes downright painful) but helpful foot reflexology session, she asked me if I wanted my massage to be "strong," and I squeaked back "I....don't know." Hands down the best message I have ever gotten, ever. I pulled my neck and back muscles running on the treadmill, Ive been taking prescription pain killer and muscle relexent but still craved for some "hands on" action. My friend recommended this place and in particular David, so I made it a mission to come here for a one hour message. The "legitimate messages only" sign hung outside of the front door made me feel at ease (haha) and there was no wait for me as I had called ahead for an appointment. I was led into a room (more like a stall) by David. I explained to him my injury and he was patient and understood my chinglish. Since this was meant to be a message to fix my neck and back, it was not a relaxing hour, instead it was filled with pain and more pain, but good pain. I can tell the knots in my muscles were slowing dissipating. David is from my hometown and we communicated just fine, no awkwardness. He talked just the right amount, explaining the different pressure points, and which I would expect to hurt more than others. The best part is, the message was only $40. I gave him a big tip because it was better than any $120/hour message places I've ever been. I cant wait to come back for more!!! Note: if you are going to judge a book by its cover then don't bother coming here. I've always thought of massages as "pampering oneself" kind of treatment. While that is all sweet and nice, there are therapeutic massages too. I'd say that the Fishion Herb Center massages are more of the therapeutic variety. It feels fantastic afterwards. I had Ruby (my second time with her) and she got a lot of the knots in my quad and my lower back. I've been training for a 1/2 marathon and hurt my upper leg/hip/lower back area and finally after a week, went to see her. Boy did it hurt!!! For 60 minutes, it cost me $40. Awesome price. If you're squeamish, this is probably not the place for you. But if you're the kind of person who does not need a frilly place, you've got to try this place. The entrance to the place is off of Mott St, through a strange but lit corridor then into the store. They are always very busy - but I had no problems getting a walk-in appointment. They sell a whole variety of Chinese medicines too - the counter girls are Chinese American so there won't be any problems if you ask them any questions. I think I'm going back on Monday or Tuesday to hammer out these crazy knots. Really, $40 - you can't beat that bang for the buck :) read more

It's deep tissue, so if you're looking for a relaxing Swedish massage, don't bother. There is a Chinese Doctor certificate at the door so they actually have some professional training and understanding of human anatomy, unlike some of the other massage places that seem to just rub around (which can still be relaxing). However in terms of atmosphere there is not much to be desired. I got a foot massage here and it was just a bit cramped and the whole experience wasn't very comfortable. This place leans a bit more function over form. Went here for the first time today. I love deep tissue massages and can handle a good amount of pressure, but the person working on my back was too careless. He started off by vigorously rubbing (not kneading) the tops of my shoulders, which wouldn't have been a problem if he had been using oil and directly touching the skin. Unfortunately, he was doing a dry massage over a sheet and he focused on my right shoulder for so long that he actually abraded my skin--there's a dime size mark that is still smarting a few hours later. I had to ask him to move on when I realized that I was literally being rubbed raw. After the massage was done I tried to explain to him what had happened, but he didn't seem to understand; I also told the person at the front desk, who was very nice but not ultimately that helpful (she told me to put some Vaseline on it at home and call back the next day if I had any more problems). Disappointed that this wasn't a better experience, since I am always looking for a reliable, cheap massage and have heard good things about this place from friends. read more

It is a tad odd entering through a modified alleyway. Once inside, you are greeted by friendly people behind the counter. They put your massage appointment on a handwritten schedule, and from what it appeared, they are pretty busy. Behind the counter, along the top of the wall are displayed their NYS licenses, a refreshing sight. I returned later on for my appt and was escorted to a small room. The place is clean, neat and was air conditioned. The rooms are very basic and small, but this is a massage spot, not a fancy spa. I have been receiving acupuncture off and on within this year. My previous acupuncturist (Dr. Zhang) retired. As a result I needed to locate another acupuncturist. Based on the reviews of Fishion Herb I decided to visit. I am diagnosed with orthopenia ( bone loss) of the neck and osteophytes (protruding bone) in the neck. Needless to say I am usually in great pain in the neck and shoulder. This pain is slightly reduced with bed rest. Basically I have to stay in bed for 2 to 3 weeks because of the excruciating pain. Last year during an emergency room for this condition, I was given morphine which left me nauseous. The doctors informed me that it was nothing that could be done to improve my condition. I am awaken at nights because of the pain. My first visit to Fishion Herb I gave the doctor a copy of my medical diagnosis. After he read the diagnosis, I received about 15 minutes to 20 minutes of accupressure in the pain region: which was later followed by 40 minutes of acupuncture in the region. During my acupuncture session, the doctor checked in on me about every 5 minutes. After the accupuncture the doctor proceeded to give me additional acupuncture in the opposite leg. This lasted about 15 minutes. The total treatment lasted 1 1/2 hours. The total bill $45.00. I did not feel rushed. I felt a lot of care and compassion. I could not wait to leave to rave about my treatment. Am I fully cured NO. However I have noticed a reduction in pain. I am confident that after receiving several treatments my situation would improve. read more

Been to a handful of Chinatown spots and some upscale NYC ones. Lived in Cambodia for 5 months and went to many, many places there ranging from cheap to very high class. I've also had a bunch of different styles (Shiatsu, tui-na, Sweedish, trigger point) and this is definitely my favorite massage parlor. Worth saying flat out- it is totally legitimate, NO TUG JOBS. It's clean and simple. Classical music in the background not too loud. If you want "fancy" service this is not for you. Facility wise it is nothing special- low ceilings, walls that don't go all the way up and definitley not sound proof. But they are courteous and professional. There is never a long wait and the massages are amazing. I like my massages very strong so I ask for that and get it. The English amongst the masseuses isn't very good but if you tell them at the front what you're looking for (strength, body area emphasis, injuries to watch for), you'll get it. One hour is $40 if you pay cash (I think it's 45 with a card). read more

I got a massage from a Richard, he was great! Accupressure massages always hurt, but that is the whole point. Richard was able to point out all my issues and just press (painfully) away. I feel so much better for it. I like the cotton sheets they use because it gets closer to the skin rather than a thicker towel. He showed me 3 types of pressure, soft, medium and hard, and you can really tell a difference so I wouldn't worry about tellign them it hurts too much and you can't take it - you can just tell them to ease up. read more

I love this place. David is my favorite (the only one I've ever been to). I have carpal tunnel, which can actually originate from tightness in the neck and shoulders. He has helped me immensely! He is extremely knowledgeable and actually identified my problem without me even telling him about it. Every time I go in i feel soooo much better, don't know what I would do without this place. I highly recommend this place to everyone! Its not a spa, so don't be high-maintenance and would complain about its modest decor.
