The food is reasonably priced and very yummy, I got the Rueben and my boyfriend got the dubliner burger. My salad sadly had no dressing, no biggie because I used some of the ranch we got for the fries. This place surprised me with their food and friendliness. Visiting Solvang for a day to explore the Danish town. This restaurant captured my attention with their chill outdoor seats facing the sidewalk. The fish and chips and corned beef with cabbage are both bomb. The fish was super crunchy outside, fresh and juicy inside. Except the coleslaw is bit blend. The corned beef is OMG amazing. Super tender and juicy. The meat can just melt in my mouth. We recently grabbed some grub while looking for a spot in town to eat dinner. We went with the Sheppard's Pie and the Lamb Shanks. The Lamb Shanks was pretty delicious and was a good portion size, the Sheppard's Pie was a little bland and not exactly to my liking. They did commit a cardinal sin of an Irish Tavern and ran out of Guinness while we there so I only got a 1/4 of pint. It's a cute place, but it was severely short staffed, but having said that, the bartender/waitress handled it all really well, and we had no problem with the service. So we actually had another place in mind to eat but some of these places shut down in the late afternoon and open up again around 5:00 p.m. Luckily for us we found this place in walking distance from our hotel. Perfect for us it wasn't even crowded so we selected a comfy booth. It's a sports bar and grill with flat screens for the sports lovers to enjoy. The also have dining outside. For starters we ordered calamari and sliders. For our main meal we ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich and salmon burger. All in all it was a great experience and entertainment. There was a happy drunk there terrorizing and an offering to buy drinks for everyone. My husband is a big guy and he came to over from the bar to our booth and actually sat on the edge of my husband's booth seat, lol! We are chill and didn't mind.He also ate our leftovers fries, lol. Tbh I recommend getting the build your own slider combo because you get to try 2 different sandwiches and I personally found it very filling (and it's cheaper than a whole sandwich as well so it's more cost efficient). First and foremost.. DO NOT join the waitlist on Yelp! It does not exist and overheard the staff confirming that they've been trying to take this feature off but can't. Just line up the regular way. Honestly the food wasn't bad and the service wasn't bad. It's just a standard OK experience. It was a very busy Holiday weekend and I do have to commend the staff for not losing their cool and was very patient and still kind to patrons! Got the beet salad and it was actually a 4 star salad haha. I liked it. Hubby liked the shepherds pie, though it's one of those where we won't specifically come back just for it! One thing I would recommend improving is maybe having a sign that shows where the bathroom is and the code for it printed on the table or by the bar area.. It's the first time I've had bangers and mash. And now I see what all the hypes about now. If you want good traditional pub food this place should be on your list. I have been back twice since my first time, and both times the service was good but the food was amazing. I did have the Guinness stew, and I was a bit disappointed in it to my expectations. It was chunks of beef, carrot, some onion, and celery it a rich tomato broth that tasted more of curry than Guinness and served with Texas toast. It was not what I had expected, but it is a very simple dish for people looking for lower carbs. My husband had the lamb shank and loved ever bite. It was honestly the happiest he has been with a piece of lamb for a while. The next time we were in my husband got a pulled pork sandwich and loved every bite. I got a dublin burger, minus the onions, and was amazed. Due to my allergy most mayo's and bacon are no go, but I left the garlic aioli and thick cut bacon on it and added avocado. My gods that was good burger! The fries were thick cut stake fries, and it was glorious! Also the second time we were there the place was packed, and our food came out on time and it was not to loud. Also it was in the 90's F outside, and with the door closed and the ac on the temp was quite comfortable. Also only one waitress was holding the place down, and did an amazing job! The only way my dad could eat it was by taking off the fried coating. Usually fried fish can rely on tartar sauce. But salt upon a fried layer can get really salty. Then for my shepherd's pie, it was actually inedible. It was so salty that it was like eating a salt block. You couldn't taste anything else but salt. The presentation of the food was nice but that's it. The four star rating average might've been for pre-covid. But as it stands, this place needs a lot of improvement. There are other reviews about food being overly salty and they were not wrong. Presentation is there, substance and taste are severely lacking. Sometimes you really are just meant to have a blessed day. My friend had had a very stressful week at work and wanted a relaxing day. She suggested going for a drive away from the city. L.A. stays chaotic. I suggested this area since it's the exact opposite of where we live and I hadn't been in a while. Also because she'd never been before. Downtown was full of life when we got there. We had just caught the end of what seemed to be a wine walking event. They were taking booths down as we walked around. We went around town looking for nothing and everything. After a few loops, we got hungry. We kept passing a bunch of spots that looked interesting, but every spot was ridiculous crowded. I wasn't about to wait so we kept walking until we ended up here. Truth be told I was sold the second I saw Guinness on the sign outside. A family sitting right out front had just gotten up to leave which worked out perfectly for us. I walked in and asked the lady if we could take the seats outside. She promptly cleaned the area for us. They had run out of a few things. Totally understandable with the event earlier in the day. I got the Fish & Chips. It's my usual order anyway so I wasn't disappointed in the least. Our dining experience got elevated to the next level when a group of out of towners sat right next to us. They were a fu bunch. Out of nowhere a group of their friends walked and decided to stay for a round of drinks. And drink they did. It was like a mini party. One of our stops over here in Solvang. It was easy walk In and up to the bar and get drinks. We sat outside and just people watched and chatted away. There is no bathroom here It is outside and near the hotel and it's a single unisex bathroom. The bartender came out a few times to check on us to see if we needed anything. I had the Manchester mule and it was delicious. The rest of the family had beers which everyone enjoyed.
