One rainy Saturday on a quest for a delicious lunch, we attempted a few other local restaurants (only avoiding 5 Guys because we have another location closer to our house and thought we'd try something new), and were repeatedly denied. One door was locked, and at the nearby Mexican joint, we waited at their reception desk and even hollered for help - that never came. While I sadly admit 5 Guys won by default, we were schooled in deliciousness - one of the best burgers I've ever had! While not everyone is ready for a burger at 11:00 am, I have consistently had good luck hitting up fast food restaurants for their first batch of whatever of the day. It really feels like they just woke up, pounded their coffee, and just care a lot more at the start of the day. When we walked in, there was only one other group inside, so service was quick and friendly. The interior was huge, beautiful and SUPER clean, and it all just felt welcoming. 5 minutes max later, our burgers and cajun fries were absolutely top notch! Hot, juicy, seasoned perfectly - just thinking about it now I'm kinda dying for another bite! They also had the Coke machines I'd only ever seen before at Fuddruckers and Wingstop, where you get to craft your own concoction from Coke products. A cherry vanilla coke hit the spot. This place took over the old Burger Road storefront location at the entrance to Clayton shopping center. My two sons and I stopped in after a round of golf; we were famished and the food did not disappoint - more on that in a second. First of all, one notices the general decor reminds one of In and Out on steroids (or flax seed oil if you're still a Barry Bonds fan). Everything is bright red and white, there are palettes of potato bags that form the entrance line. Menu is limited compared to your average fast food joint (again, similar to In and Out). But unlike other places, "everything" is included on the burger unless you specify otherwise - lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, mushrooms, pickles. The "small" fries serves two, and the "large" I don't know how many. Service was cheery, and the food assembly stations are right in plain view of the cash registers. Nice. I appreciate that. There is even a cute little sign that proudly states, "Today's fries are from potatoes from XXX, Idaho" (I don't remember the town name). While we waited for our number to be called, I noticed one disturbing decor choice. Every single flat surface is emblazoned with some poster touting how they're the best burger in the world. From newspapers, magazines, reviews from everywhere. I mean, every flat surface, including over the urinal in the mens' room. Really? It's difficult to trust a mind-job posture that tries SO HARD to convince you they're better than "you know who". Can't you just let the food speak for itself? Finally, the food arrives - and it really is good. All the standard burgers are double-patty (Yay!) and it's fresh, and it's really, really good. Fries are fresh, not overcooked, very tasty. Patties appear hand-formed and fresh - not preformed reheats. All in all, I'm very impressed by the food and will be back. I'm still VERY suspicious of the brainwashing experience and wish they'd just put some sort of aesthetically pleasing decor on the walls. I like the food, so please stop yelling at me about how great everyone thinks you are - at best you're trying too hard, and at worst you're hiding something. read more

It was my first visit to Five Guys yesterday. The staff does not have the training on allergens in the food and/or the access (or willingness?) to find out. My son has sever allergies and carries an epi-pen, and no one, not even the manager on duty, was able to tell me if there was egg in your buns. There should be an ingredient list available for the employees and costumers. The answer "I am 75% sure there is none" just doesn't suffice. 25% risk that you have to bring your 4 year old to the emergency room? No thanks. read more

I have been to this location 3 separate times. 2 out of the 3 times my order has been wrong. I don't understand if they're just lazy or forgetful... either way I don't know if I necessarily trust them to make my food and get it right at this point. I came in to this store Monday to pick up lunch. The girl who took our order was unfriendly. My friend ordered first and ask 3x for her meal to be bagged separately because we were parting ways but I was buying. Then I ordered my meal and my boyfriends and told them that order was for a separate bag. The order came in 2 bags they separated the smaller bag and said it was hers. And the bigger bag was my order. I guess it's partly our fault for not checking before we left. Because they completely got it wrong. She ordered fries and a hot dog, they gave her my burger and my Cajun fries. Which she did not eat. What a waste of money. We all know they aren't cheap! read more

Every time i come here the service is horrible . Everyone that works in the back seems so confused does not seem like they know what's going on . I usually go to this five guys and please trust me, I'm not one to pin point every small detail and problem when I write a review. But I had an awful experience to the point where I had to throw my food in the garbage on my way out. The guy making the food had long hair in braids hanging near where he was cooking. And he also had a giant, red swollen boil (or something that didn't look good at all) on his arm. It was uncovered while he was cooking and it even went under the heat lamp multiple times. I do not want that near my food and I understand that we're human. Things happen, but working in the food industry, it needs to be covered. It was unhigenic to say the least. I ordered my food and after I saw his arm I immediately asked for my money back. I am a registered nurse, and it grossed me out to see that he was the only cook making burgers and handling food. I told the manager, and she was hesitant at first to give me my money back. She said that she was short on staff and he was the only one able to cook. And to me that's absolutely fine, but whatever was on his arm needed to be covered up and his hair needed to be up like the rest of the employees. I like their burgers. The food is generally good. But God damn can people not smoke weed while they're working. I put in order number 53 then proceeded to watch 3 guys stand around then go into the back then come back out and stand around again. Its 4/22 around 9 PM. They sat there and completely phased on my order. And mind you I'm the only one there. 20 minutes into the ordeal I had to ask gentlemen did I step into the Twilight Zone. I'm pro weed but I dont believe you should smoke it while working. I do commend what appeared to be the shift supervisor for saving the day and recognizing something was wrong. I went to this location for the first time the other day and stood by myself in front of the counter while two people were cooking and two were having some random discussion right in front of me. None of them acknowledged my presence until I said "what the f...am I invisible?!" And finally one of them came up to take my order. The food was good, but only because the food is good. It doesn't make up for the service and they're always so friendly and attentive at the pleasant hill location that it stands out so much more. After reading other reviews it appears this is a common issue with this location. That falls to management. 5 guys needs to get a hold of this location and kick out the shitty employees and management because they're dragging down your brand in this area. We tend to eat here about once a month. Both of my boys love the hot dog here, which I have to say is on point! My husband and I usually get their burgers and can't complain. I love that there are so many options to add but I have to be careful not to order too many veggies on my burger or it gets super messy and hard to eat. Also I do not recommend taking it to go as the bun get soggy and is not as enjoyable. We usually order one large French dry and it feeds all four of us. read more

God bless the young lady who took all the orders at the point of sale last Friday the 13th! And, it certainly was Friday the 13th. She informed each customer as they placed their individual orders, that "we are short staffed and way behind as a result, it will be 30 minutes to get your order out". My wife and I grabbed some peanuts and sat watching as many irate customers came up to the counter to complain or for receiving incorrectly made orders! They were all extremely courteous (never had an issue in that dept ). I showed up today to order some a couple burgers and shakes. When I arrived there were no employees to be seen. They were all in the back. After a few minutes they came out and took my order. When I asked for shake I was told that they were "out" of shakes. Huh? How is that even possible? It doesn't appear that you're in the middle of a rush. Looking around the place it's filthy. Quite a few tables have old ketchup and peanuts. I have no idea what they were doing in the back of the restaurant but someone should have been out sweeping and wiping down tables. I absolutely love this Five Guys location. Not only is it conveniently located close to my home, but it comes equipped not only with quality, extremely tasty burgers, but along with some outstanding employees that provide some stellar customers service. I usually just get a protein burger ( wrapped in lettuce) with tomatos and raw onions, and the occasional bacon. They have never messed up an order to this day, and the burgers always taste top notch. Not to mention, the place is always immaculately clean; and their always playing the most awesome classic rock music! Always lifts my spirits when I walk in. I came here with my girlfriend and one of her friends the other day. She told me it just opened up and I have been dying to try it when I heard it on tv. Sounded so good. I heard that this place was a big competitor of In N Out but they usually have a lot of these on the east coast. Anyways so when we got here, inside looked kind of nice. Lots of tables to sit at and outdoor seating as well. We ordered a Hamburger All the Way, Cheeseburger All the Way, a side of regular fries and a drink. The total was about a little less than $18. Now thats EXPENSIVE for some fast food. Food was delicious. Burger was HUGE! I couldn't even finish my burger. Fries were put into a cup, looked more like they just dumped a whole bunch of fries into the bag (Which isn't a bad thing) and they got that cool soda machine with 2930840 different flavors (OK more like 150 lol Im exaggerating again) Anyways I have to say I like the burgers more than In N Out but its REALLY expensive. Normally I would say different strokes for different folks but in his case no, those saying In/Out is better are simply insane. For while the both make grilled just cooked burgers and hand cut fries after that the similarities end. I/O offers a dozen drinks and the most overly sweet shakes you have ever had. 5G has teas and the nuclear powered Coca Cola Freestyle machine with 125 combinations of drinks. So instead of lemonade, I can make a strawberry-rasberry-green tea Arnold Palmer with lil ice...Nice! I have to say I was excited that a new burger place was opening up in the area. We are so dang far from my favorite burger place that starts with In and ends with Out. This place is average. I had a double cheeseburger and shared a regular fries with my partner. I had a burger with no bun and it was pretty tasty. The fries were a good portion for two people to share but they were really salty. Plus they fry them in peanut oil and that crap is so bad for you. I guess anything fried is bad for you though! Worst part of this chain though is that they DON'T have MILKSHAKES!!! Seriously have you ever been to a burger place that doesn't have milkshakes?! I love Five Guys but this isn't the best location. The burgers are made so sloppy and they don't put as much condiments as the Fremont location. I always order the Little Cheeseburger with ketchup, mayo, mustard. extra cheese and lettuce. A regular fries to share with whomever I'm eating with and a drink. They have the awesome soda machines everyone is going crazy for. I suggest you order online or download their app onto your phone.
