Let me start by saying this place has gotten really expensive. If you are on a budget go somewhere else otherwise you can enjoy a really good burger and a lot of yummy fires. My husband and I have been coming to this /five Guys for the past five years we have notice the price increase but at least the food has remain good. Today we order 2 Cheeseburgers, 1 Regular drink ($2.39), and 1 Regular order of fries our total was $ 24.26 we remember the day we made the same order and the total was around $15.00. Well enough said about their increasing prices. Lets us talk about how good their fires are. They are made fresh on site, thick cut, have a little of skin still on them, fried in peanut oil, and you can add Cajun seasoning if you feel adventures. We like them with no salt, we add salt to taste once we get them. I feel that sometimes when I forget to say "no salt" they come cover in a lot salt and they are not as good. We get the regular size ($4.29) they are enough for two people because they top them off in the bag so you always get more than what the actual size. Now lets talk about the burgers. We get the Cheeseburger ($7.89) with comes wit two patties and american cheese. I like mine with Lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup, and (a little) muster. My husband likes only mayo and grilled jalapeños on his. Either was we both enjoy our burgers a lot. They are a decent size (bigger than In-n-Out) the patties have a nice meaty juicy flavor and yes they are a little bit on the greasy side but they are GOOD. The bun is basic bun nothing to fancy but it all comes together to make a great tasting burger. I've never tried their hotdogs but my husband swear they are not as good at the burgers. He keeps telling me it is call Five Guys Burgers and Fires not Five Guys Hotdogs and Fries :P If I ever try one I'll update this review and let you know what I think. Another item I must try next time I go is their Milkshakes. It looks like they use soft serve so I'm not sure how good they will be but they have a lot of flavors to choose from so will see. Other than the increasing prices we love this place and will continue to come to get our burger and fries fix. We have never had a problem at this location and we've come in the early morning when they are just opening their door to late at time almost at closing he staff has always been nice and help full and our food has been hot and delicious. Sometimes I fall off the eating healthy bandwagon in extreme ways. Sometimes I fall into a delicious cinnamon roll. And apparently now I fall into five guys restaurants. I have been wanting to try five guys for a while ever since I heard people battling the die hard in n out fans over which was better. I can't tell you what the line is like during the dinner or lunch rush since we went there right before closing and there was no issue with lines or wait. Staff was friendly as well. Trying to compare in n out burgers to five guys burgers is kind of like comparing late night greasy pizza with pizza from a fancy Italian restaurant-both are fantastic and it totally depends on what you're in the mood for. I like in n out burgers because of the delicious animal style sauce and other naughtiness (cheeeeeese) they put in those bad boys. But I like five guys because it is messy, there are more toppings to choose from, and the meat is really damn good. Unfortunately, the French fries are a skip for me. I'm more the McDonald's crispy fry kind of gal so these slightly soggy and fat fries didn't do it for me. Sad face. One of the best parts of my five guys experience was the epic high tech soda machines. At first I was just blown away by the touch screen allowing you to select from a huge amount of sodas. AND THEN I selected Coke Zero only to find like ten different types of Coke Zero. Vanilla cherry? Orange? Lime? Raspberry?? No idea coke zero had these flavors. I would go back just to use this soda machine. You think I'm joking.... Overall, great burgers when you're in the mood for a "fast food" type burger that's a few cuts above McDonald's/Carl's Jr and a few steps below a more pricey gourmet burger like the Drugstore Burger at The Lodge. I've made a number of trips to this Five Guys location. It's got plenty of parking and it's never too busy that you can't get an order quickly. Built in the Liberty Station center, there are plenty of choices to get something good to eat, and there are some great places in this center. I get the cheeseburger "All the way" with grilled jalapeno's...it really should be split with another person,,hahaha. The fries are some of the best fast food fries that you can get. This place is double the cost compared to more food at In-n-Out. My fries were ordered crispy, but the fries were well done and soft/flacid. The burger fell apart. The 2 patties were sliding around and the bread practically desinigrated. The bread is worse than what I've had at picnics. First time I went it was a little overwhelming. Actually a very simple menu. You get to choose what kinda burger (single, double, mini, cheese, no cheese) than choose what you want your burger (lettuce, tomato, onions) and the sauces. I'm a simple girl, I don't need that many options. It just confuses me. I had the little cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes, grilled mushroom, grilled jalapenos, bbq, and A1 sauce. There has been some buzz about ordering online ahead of time so I thought I would try it out. Two times now I have ordered on the app and both times they haven't started making the order until I get in. The email tells me my good would be ready at 6:15, so it's a little irritating when I get there at 6:20 and nothing has even hit the grill. The girl then told the cook that she didn't know she still had to call out online orders. It was kind of annoying. If you're looking for a no nonsense good old fashioned burger then this is the spot. There's nothing fancy about this place, just a freshly made delicious custom ordered burger. There's like 12 different toppings you can choose from including things you don't normally find at a fast food burger spot like mushrooms and a-1 sauce. The burgers are cooked on a flat top grill which gives them a nice crispy crust on each side. The hot dogs are very juicy and full of flavor. Fries are ok but nothing to rave about. The staff is very friendly and provide good service. The wait time is a little long but I guess when you get food made fresh it's ok to wait. Prices seem quite high though the food is good. Also, they have free peanuts. 'nuff said. The fries were great! They give a generous amount and they're thicker than other fries. They can get a little salty, but still so tasty. They're cooked in peanut oil and come in little, regular, and large sizes. The service was also excellent. From a knowledgeable and welcoming cashier to the staff calling out the food when it was ready. My friend ordered a cheeseburger and wanted to add pickles, so the worker eagerly went to grab a side of pickles for her, all with a bright smile. To be honest, I didn't think much of Five Guys. I usually don't see that many people at the Five Guys locations that I pass by. I ate here tonight after reading on the thread that this joint is now open (and I couldn't decide where else to eat). I had no idea what Five Guys was until I went on their website to learn more about their grub. Ooh, burgers? Ooh, BACON cheeseburgers?! Oh heck yeah I'll try it! We showed up around 7:30 and the place was busy, but not packed. Funny to see the huge bags of potatoes lined up along the entrance and that we're informed on a dry erase board where the potatoes are from on this particular day. I'm not a potato connoisseur, so if it read they were from upstate South Dakota, it'd make no difference to me whatsoever, but thanks for the information Five Guys. LOL! We got our order in quickly and waited about ten minutes for our food to come out. We picked on the complimentary peanuts while we waited, something I'm not used to eating at a burger joint, but I ate it anyway. I love bacon and I love grilled onions in my cheeseburgers, so I loved the fact that I had these as options here. I got the little bacon cheeseburger with other fixins' and we shared a large order of the cajun fries. The burger was good, I liked it wasn't oozing out oil, but since it was cooked well done, it lacked some juiciness I like a hint of in my burgers. Overall I enjoyed it and the cajun fries were good too. Not quite OMG, knee-buckling good, but good enough for me to eat more even after I was stuffed. I ate Five Guys nuts! Actually, that's about all that makes them unique in my book: They have peanuts for you to munch on while you're waiting for your burgers. Apparently, they made their name back east by being very simple with their menu, much like In-N-Out did here. But their menu is even simpler, not offering milkshakes or any "secret menu" items. Quality-wise, it's about the same as In-N-Out, and the burger patties look about the same as Wendy's. So if you want In-N-Out quality, but without the In-N-Out menu selections, by all means, go to Five Guys. Or maybe if you just want to eat their nuts. read more

Sorry... I'm not completely on the bandwagon with this burger chain. It's like they're trying a little too hard to be In N Out. Listen guys... no matter how similar of colors you use, or how goofy of uniforms you make your staff wear, or how simple you make your menu, or how many newspaper articles you put up in your burger joints you can never be as delicious as In N Out Burger. Why? It's simple...there's crack in double-doubles! Either way, they're doing something right in the seasoning department. Spicy fries are tasty, too. I would highly recommend these if you're ok handling spicy. Value - 5. Inexpensive for what you get! You can sumo yourself outta here for under $10. Variety - 2. You can only get burgers as opposed to chicken, etc. so it's modeled like In-N-Out in that sense. Make sure that when you come here, you're craving a burger. If you want a chicken sando, you'll have to go to Chik-Fil-A. Service - 4. Decent. Items are separately ordered. In other words, there is 'no combo' fries, drink etc., Word of warning: Regular burgers have two patties, while the "little" burgers only have one. Meat on the burger reminds me of a patty prepared at home, with just enough spices. No generically prepared taste or frozen after-taste. I feel so cheated. I really wanted to love this place, based on the hype. THEY clearly think highly of themselves, as evidenced by the multiple banners with newspaper clippings blown up adorning every wall you see. I guess motel art is just too expensive, so they decided to go with that. Not my personal style, but whatever. Everyone says not to compare it to In-N-Out, but when you walk in and you're confronted with the same red-and-white-checkered tiles along the walls and a very similar minimalist menu, how can anyone NOT compare it to the West Coast favorite? It seems like there's a huge turf war going on, like Tupac vs. Biggie back in the day. You're either a fan of "California Love" or "Mo Money Mo Problems." It's impossible to like them both...unless you're from Kansas or something. I proudly represent the West Side, having grown up on the mean streets of Tierrasanta. Representing the 'burbs, I came in to Five Guys with high expectations. This was, after all, Point Loma, in the glitzy old-turned-new Liberty Station. You can imagine my shock, then, when I entered Five Guys and found the place littered with peanut shells, dirty tables covered in ketchup stains and wadded napkins for as far as I could see. I get it, though, this whole peanuts-on-the-floor, devil-may-care-thing...it's sort of their shtick. However, there's a difference between a restaurant that is "atmospherically" dirty (Dick's Last Resort) and actually dingy and disgusting (Five Guys). The music is so loud you can barely hear yourself think, but again, I assume this is all part of their "thing." I ordered a plain cheeseburger (meat+cheese+bun), a side of fries, and a soda, and nearly choked when I was charged more than $11. Sure, I can read, but it was still quite a shock...but then I started wondering if perhaps I had ordered an insane amount of food. Surely, at these prices, the portions must be huge. You can watch as the workers make your food...and usually, this is a good thing. In most cases, you're able to see the process from start to finish, and it's an opportunity for a restaurant to show off their amazingly clean and organized kitchen. In this case, all I could focus on was the absolute mess around the grills, on the floor, and the employees constantly touching their faces and hair before touching everyone's (and my) food. Crumbs, bits of lettuce and tomatoes, smears of ketchup and who-knows-what all over the place...maybe they should consider hiding the kitchen in back like other fast food chains. 25 minutes later, my number was FINALLY called. I had been patient for the first ten or so minutes, but after the 20-minute mark, I began wondering what the hell could possibly be taking SO long... unless there was a cow out back somewhere that they were currently slaughtering, I could see no reason for the delay. Wasn't this supposed to be "fast" food? When I picked up my burger, in a takeout bag that would just go to waste because I was planning on dining in, I had to flag down an employee to ask her to refill the dispensers for napkins, straws, sauce cups, and ALL THREE ketchup pumps. One or two of these dispensers needing refills, fine. EVERYTHING needing refills? That's just lazy. I don't care how busy you are (and they were NOT), you need to make sure you have someone on the floor a) wiping tables down, b) keeping the napkins ready, and c) my god I am SO GLAD I didn't have to use the restroom...I can't even imagine what it's like in there! Finally, I found a table that wasn't completely covered in the remnants of a previous diner's meal and I sat down to enjoy my own. The burger itself was pretty damn good--the meat was juicy and very well-seasoned. It would have been nice if the cheese wasn't cold, however. My fries were inedible. Five Guys boasts that their fries "taste like potatoes, not grease." These tasted like potatoes, sure, but like raw potatoes. They were actually mushy to the touch. Gross. I left Five Guys feeling like I had wasted my entire 30-minute lunch break waiting for a burger in someone's dirty garage. Maybe I went on a bad day, and truth be told, I'm usually the type to give restaurants several chances before even considering a Yelp review, but this was so bad, so disappointing, that this time, the first impression is the only one I'd care to receive. I didn't even know there was a Five Guys in town. We stopped in on saturday for a post-party snack. While everyone else went into the burgers, I accompanied my fries (cajun, crisp-fried in peanut oil and served in a cup; reminded me of Boardwalk Fries without the ooze of fake cheese; and they offer malt vinegar for the discerning fries-eater) with a grilled cheese because they confirmed you could add all the regular toppings. While waiting for the food they offer crates of peanuts to snack on, but as with the ballpark it's hit or miss. Unfortunately, when my order was up I found that they failed making my loaded grilled cheese, and had made a plain one. And then when I notified them, they made me another one and forgot the toppings again. But on the third time, my order was not only correct, but my entire check was refunded -- even the parts that were right to begin with. Kudos for the eventual good service. read more

This is my FAVORITE burger establishment in Wisconsin, and probably the world. When I first moved here from Milwaukee in March, I was extremely upset to find that the only Five Guys within a reasonable distance was on the military base. No civilian access. Don't worry, that didn't stop me from trying anyway. I actually drove to the base and inquired if we could somehow drive in to get burgers and leave. Apparently this is not a good enough reason to be granted access, (the security must not have tried Five Guys.) Anyway, one day as I was contemplating how I could make friends with someone in the military fast (most were not very pretty ideas). I decided to check out if any locations were going to open around here soon. BINGO! The day I checked, this location was opening, it was as if fate had spoken to me. Unfortunately, I had just eaten a big meal, but the next day, Five Guys was the priority on my list of things to do. So, here's the deal. You get to hang out and munch on peanuts while waiting a very short period of time from ordering to burger consumption. Burgers: amazing -- especially for hangovers or pre-drinking meals, but don't limit yourself to just those occasions for ordering these babies. They're juicy, loaded with toppings, plopped on a soft bun, and ready in 5 minutes. The fries are just as good as the burgers, but feel free to order a small size because they just end up filling half of your bag with them anyway, aren't they generous? I usually stick with the standard Five Guys style fries, but I tried the Cajun ones, and I have to admit that I am now addicted. They have a little bit of a kick, but not too spicy for anyone who has a low tolerance, like me. The decor is exactly what it should be, clean and simple, because you go there for the food. No thanks, I'll stick to In n Out. This eatery is way overrated, expensive and in my humble opinion inferior. I dont care about all the " free " add ons. In n Out still makes a better fast food burger. By the way, the add ons for your burger really arent free. The damn burgers are already expensive so you've pretty much have already paid for the " free" add ons. May as well load up on them and those peanuts. I guess what would be equivalent to a Double Double combo here costs almost $12. The Double Double combo at In n Out is under $6. Im no rocket scientist but I damn well know whats a better deal. I ordered the little bacon cheeseburger which is the smallest size you can get and it is way more than enough food. We also ordered a shake where you can add in any mix ins you please, I added banana, Oreos and peanut butter and it was delicious! -The patty was dry and overcooked. -If you order the little (1 patty) you risk having your burger be too cold because of all the extra condiments added. -If you order the regular you risk coronary heart disease - The prices are double that of IN N OUT SEATING was like the elementary school playground all over again. A dog eat dog world. At first you try to remain polite and civil and maintain some kind of orderly fashion to the process. However, after several minutes of being snaked by less courteous patrons, you will find yourself in an all out dash once you see the last fry being eaten from a parties table. Shame does not exist here. Unfortunately I cannot give it 0 stars so the 1 star will be for the delicious french fries. They give you a heaping portion with just 1 regular order. Since my comrade at work is a huge fan of the burger, we had to go check out 5 Guys burgers and see what it was all about. I must admit that I really enjoyed the way this place operates. The burger took a while so I enjoyed a few pre-burger peanuts, and watched the crew putting together the burgers at the grill. I can't remember all the toppings that I put on, but it was a lot (maybe jalapeno, bacon, onions, pickles, tomato, and mushrooms & CHEESE & A1) ....definitely worth the wait. P.S. I ordered a cheeseburger with some regular size cajun fries and a drink for over $11.00. Ouch! Well to start with the normal sized cheeseburger, it was actually a double cheeseburger instead of a single even though it is marketed as a regular cheeseburger on the menu. It's quite pricy however but it does taste good. I order all the free toppings to make sure I get my money's worth. When I received my burger, it was sloppy and very hard to eat without it spilling all inside of the wrapper. Probably due to all of the contents inside of my burger. The cajun fries were good and seasoned to perfection. They give you lots of fries. I had just as much, if not more, fries in the bag than in my cup. Big props to that. At least I got my money's worth with the fries. It is cooked in Peanut Oil, so the brown paper bag that they pack your food in has grease spots from the fries. The fries are the huge, wedge type. As far as this layout is concerned, it does have the same color scheme as In-N-Out. There's plenty of seating inside and outside of the restaurant. Some say this chain is a blatant rip-off of In-N-Out. I'm not sure about that, but no doubt that Five Guys' interior is similar. I wonder if this place have a secret menu though? The minus one star is mainly for the expensive prices. For a fast food joint, the prices are high. However, the food quality is splendid. So I was just reminded by our friendly CM that I was way behind on my writing of reviews. Since I just got back from this place tonight, it will be the first after my review writing hiatus. Danny thinks In n Out beats this place hands down and I have to say he is WRONG! ZOMG this place serves up a tasty burger! The bun was perfect; a delicious, spongy bun that held together throughout my entire eating experience. The perfectly melted cheese was quality and the bacon was oh so crisp and delicious as all bacon should be. Finally, let's get down to the meat of this burger. This left a little to be desired. I liken it more to Hodad's then to Rocky's. They have to overcook it 'cause that is how chains roll. I like a medium rare patty that is a little plumper than this establishment serves up. For that I will go to Rocky's or Neighborhood. Overall though, eating a burger here was an amazing experience that left me very, very satisfied. *sigh* A blurb about the rest: the Cajun fries are overly seasoned and left me wishing I had gotten the regular fries, the peanuts up for taking are a nice plus but I see no reason to eat them if they are not served with a beer, the fountain selection is plentiful and includes some fresh teas, the service and environment is what you would expect to find at In n Out but the prices say you have stepped up from a double double. I actually 5 Guys for the first time back in March while was in Miami on vacation. So I was pretty ecstatic to hear that they were coming to San Diego. I went after Church Service last Sunday night. Bad idea....big crowds and long wait. But that's to be expected. The inside decor initially reminded of In and Out due to the color coordination of red/white. But that's pretty much where the similarities end. Five guys offers complimentary peanuts for those waiting in line and for the customers waiting for their DI orders. The menu board is waaaaay more expensive then In and Out. More options and customizations are allowed with Five Guys. Some folks are purists...that's fine. Do whatever works for you and stick to your double double animal style, etc... What I don't like about Five Guys is that they can be overkill with tooting their own horn at times. I'm talking about the various magazine spread that they have posted up. Who cares if President Barrack Obama loves 5 guys? This place is NOT In and Out. Personally, I love In and Out more: Better Pricing, Burgers edge out Five Guys, faster service. But again, that's In and Out for you. Five Guys does not disappoint. At the fast food burger level, Five Guys burgers easily dismantles McD's, BK, Jack, etc on quality. Huge amount of toppings, and tastes like something homemade. The fries are excellent, you get A LOT and I especially enjoy the Cajun Fries-unique touch along with fast food burgers. Where Five Guys falls short is that it is like a homemade burger. For the same reason you'd like it, you know you can grill something just as good at home. The prices are astronomical compared to In and Out and its "lesser" fast food competitors; pricing is just shy of Ruby's or Red Robins. It's a tad pricier than your "Six Dollar Burger" or "Angus Burger" variants, but definitely fresher. Five Guys is worthwhile and a nice change but isn't King of the Hill in what is veritably In and Out Land. read more

I am a big fan of Five Guys. There burgers are almost as good as In N Out; Their fries are better. Free peanuts while you wait to eat. Their food is fresh and fast. If you're on a budget though, go to In N Out. We never seem to get out of Five Guys for less than $25 for two adults and a child. Tip: go before The Rock church, next door, get's out of service. Where ya at my East Coast burger lovers? Your own version of burger heaven has made it to SD. Apparently word travels fast because when we went, there were a bunch of you right coasters having their way with your bag o'burgers and fries. And we soon joined in. I am a fan of the little version (one patty) of the bacon cheeseburger with A-1 sauce. Yeah, you heard me right - A-1. BRILLS! My burger partner in crime had never had Five Guys before so he ordered the standard (two patties) with everything and then we shared a regular order of the Cajun fries. I highly advise you share an order of fries - they basically give you a double order each time - it's what they do. Our burgers were awesome - even though they cook the meat through, the burgers aren't dry or greasy or any other unappetizing adjective. Just yummy. So happy to have yet another choice for a good burger in this town. P.S. The comment that another reviewer made about the peanut shells on the floor is right on. Lighten up, staff. Salt attack anyone? The burgers here are so mediocre. You'd think its the best burger in the world considering all the signs of praise all over the restaurant. If this place were to face In-n-out on a national level five guys would lose in a heart beat. Fries are soggy and mega salty. Supposedly they are the worst fries in America according to Yahoo! news.
