I understand the covid situation but 45 minutes to make a burger and fries when you order in advance is unacceptable. I ordered in advance and still waited inside 45 minutes after ordering online 15 minutes earlier. I arrived and was told it was almost ready. I was then told we was just waiting on fresh fries several times. I asked for a supervisor and that never happened. I just waited and waited and everyone else got their except me. Just a normal burger and fries nothing special. I come all the time and love the place but this was unacceptable and NOTHING was offered and not even an apology for the delay or a drink while I waited 45 minutes. This location is cleaner and it looks nicer than the one by the base... the soda machine is freakin awesome! Its touch screen and it has many options for the soda you want.. like for my fav, diet coke, they have 7 flavors of it (vanilla, cherry, lemon, orange, etc) The wait for the food was average and the taste was awesome like always! :) The only thing that sucks is that there is NO parking! why do they have peanuts? as a fan of peanuts and peanut-based products; i'm not complaining, and i love free things, but...why do they have peanuts? anyways... the menu is simple, and in true southern california fashion, has the caloric intake estimation labelled on the menu. the cajun fries were pretty great; slightly salty for me, but well spiced (not spicy) and cut thick. they give you a grip of fries (that's "a lot" for you non-san diegans), so like anything deep fried, stuff that isn't eaten right away become soggy...but the bottom of the bag is deliciously soggy, and not too oily. the little burgers are good-sized (especially with all the fries you get), and LOADED with toppings. i got my little bacon cheeseburger with A1 sauce, so it tasted juicy...i'm assuming that the juiciness came form both the sauce and the burger, but i can't be so sure. frankly, i don't care: the bun was soft and warm, toppings fresh, and the meat did not taste like it's been in a factory and a freezer days before arriving in my belly. that soda machine kinda scared me. i got the iced tea; not so much because of the daunting soda machine, but because iced tea is better for you. read more

Today was a switch up. Went with the bacon cheese dog and it didn't fail my expectations. Perfectly cooked through out, threw some onions and tomatoes on that bad boy, and it was a good meal. I had the double bacon cheeseburger with no sauce but with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and grilled onions. Unlike previous reviews, my burger was not greasy at all, but was very flavorful. I do not like mayo on my burgers because I like to taste the flavor of the beef. I thought the burger was very good but a little pricey at $6 dollars and change. I ordered a split on the fries. I thought both were good, but I preferred the regular fries over the Cajun. The staff was very nice and helpful given it was my first time there. They tell me their hot dogs are very good, so I plan to try one on my next visit. Good place for a burger. read more

I prefer it to In n Out because I do not eat beef. Here I can get a grilled cheese with the veggie works and it is HUGE. A full meal. The fries were piping hot and fresh. Don't go in with high expectations. I've heard of Five Guys for the longest time so my standards for the place was unreasonably high. This review's not based on my original expectation though, so it's an unbiased review. (: For a fast food joint, the burger's alright. There's nothing special about it though; it's juicy as a burger should be, but their buns become soggy too quickly. It's also missing the kick that in-n-out's burgers have from their thousand island sauce. However, they're very generous with their toppings, and you can freely customize the burger to your own liking. Their fries definitely make up for the burger--the fries are fresh cut, perfectly seasoned, and crispy, yet fluffy on the inside. :3 Seating is very limited! The environment is basically red and white, so it looks like an old school joint. They have a red, sleek && chic soda machine, which is pretty cute. ^__^;; Oh, and to help with the wait, there's free, unlimited peanuts on the side. (: The guy behind the register was extremely sweet and patient, especially after he heard that I was a first timer. Finally got an opportunity to try the Five Guys burger and it was not a disappointment. Ordered a Little Cheeseburger and it was actually filling. Good size. Felt pressured to place order so just had it with lettuce, grilled onions and BBQ sauce. Now that I think back, didn't really taste any BBQ sauce. Hmmm. There is an option to go "All the way" which includes all of the following toppings...mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, ketchup and mustard. Maybe next time since I'm more familiar with the menu!! The regular fries are huge and are good enough for 2 people. Another cool touch is they have complimentary salted, shelled peanuts you can help yourself to. The soda fountain is pretty high tech. You choose your flavor/brand on touchscreen and can make multiple flavored drinks! Restaurant is clean, staff is friendly. And best of all, there is free parking but its strip mall parking so I'm sure at times it's impossible to get in. Great burger, good deal! read more

I LOVE FIVE GUYS --- do you like burgers with more than just lettuce, tomato, mustard, ketchup, mayo and cheese? Yeah so do I! Here they make burgers to order (literally) and add all sorts of yummy toppings -- bacon and EXTRA bacon, green peppers, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, onion, jalapeno peppers, A-1 sauce, bbq... the list goes on and on... I loved them before when I used to eat buns... NOW I love them more -- they have bunless protein style (wrapped in lettuce) and the burger bowls (comes in a tin container like a burger salad)......... I am addicted to the bowls! YUM! The meat is always cooked right and the toppings (all of which I get grilled except the lettuce) are awesome! Fries -- they are good but don't expect crispy... they are almost baked potato inside with a firm outside. Yummy -- and the CAJUN is fantastic -- if you are eating alone get the LITTLE size. If you are eating with two get the small and if you are eating with four get the bigger. They serve a HUGE portion of them. The service at this location is outstanding and employees are always helpful and friendly while also seemingly enthusiastic about their jobs! Parking can be a pain but at least they have a lot. LOVE the Coke drink machines -- they are light a playground in a restaurant to drink-aholics like myself. Try making a fruit punch with Fanta flavors -- oh yeah! Four stars for the fast service, and ease of online ordering. Unlike other reviews that stated that the online orders or there in person orders were filled incorrectly with ingredients on their burgers that they didn't ask for, mine was just as I ordered it. I'm going to be honest and say that I prefer my burgers to be from my favorite chain, In n Out. I feel like the prices (even tho I got a little bacon cheeseburger and a little Cajun fries were high. Parking was easy but this was on a Sunday morning so I'm sure people weren't out and about as much yet. I probably won't be back just because this isn't my favorite burger to have but I did like the customer service here, the convenience of its location, and the Cajun fries. read more

Best burger in San Diego in my not so humble opinion. Always fresh and tasty ingredients and most fixin's can be added for free! A little fry more than is enough for one person and they always add extra. A small fry is easily enough for two or three. Peanuts are free. No long lines. A little more expensive than most fast food burgers, but also better. Nice choices at the soda machine. I like to fill it up with ice and try a couple different sodas and therefore avoid drinking too much soda. Customer service is good. My only complaint is that the burger doesn't hold up well if you get it to-go due to the grease content. It's best if you order it and eat it immediately. read more
