My husband and I have been to Five Guys many times. Tonight the food was awful. We walked in about 7pm and the staff in the back were busy chatting amongst themselves and didn't notice us for a while. The girl behind the counter finally acknowledges us and says,"We'll be with ya in a sec.." and proceeds to finish her chat session. We finally get a chance to order and sit down to wait. We are waiting for over a half hour and still no food, being the only ones in the store we wonder what is taking so long. We waited five more minutes and decide to ask what the wait is, our order had been prepared, bagged, and placed up on top the fries light... The manager reaches back and grabs the bag from atop the fry lights and says, "Oh yah, we called your number like 3x I think" and proceeds to hand me the bag. I am honestly shocked and annoyed. I politely asked, "so the food has been sitting there this whole time, is it cold?" To which she responds, "Would you like a milkshake for the long wait? " uh no, just to be called when it was ready and hot food. I took the food and went to my seat. My husband noticed his burger was cold and had no onions, mine was made right, but cold and soggy as well. I reached in the bad for our fries, a regular order for the two of us. As I am salting the fries I noticed the regular size cup is 3/4 full of very greasy, soggy, limp, fries. I look in the bag, as there are normally a ton more fries in the bottom and I kid you not, there are 12 more soggy, greasy, limp, fries ! Yes, I counted them...12. My husband and I both looked at each other like, WTH. My husband was the first to notice this is not normally the quality or service we have enjoyed with Five Guys in the past. As my husband goes back up to get onions for his burger, the manager comes out to our table and says, " I saw your face when you picked up your order and I can't let you leave mad." I am returning the amount you spent for your order. I was very pleased by this gesture as our experience tonight in the store and our food were not good and not worth the 30 plus dollars spent. I don't know if the store is struggling, has new management, or what, but it was dirty and the food was awful at best tonight. I know we have more than plenty of burger and sandwich places in Tracy, but this place used to be one of the better ones. It's a shame it was so bad tonight. I think we will avoid Five Guys for a while. The two stars are for the manager refunding our money for the subpar experience and being professional about it. I am thankful we didn't waste our money on such an awful meal in the end. UPDATE: I just had the pleasure of speaking to Kim, the GM with Five Guys. She was very pleasant, professional, and apologized greatly for the experience we had in her store on Wednesday night. She assured us the customer service and quality of food issues would be addressed right a way. She invited my husband and I to give it another shot in her store and for them to make our experience a better one. The fact that Kim would reach out and discuss the issues with us directly and make an effort to fix them speaks volumes for her as a GM and shows how much she cares for her customers and the store. I appreciated that a lot. We will give Five Guys another try and update this review. UPDATE: My husband and I decided to try Five Guys Burgers for dinner tonight. I am pleased to say our dinner was awesome ! Our burgers were perfect, the fries were hot and fresh, and our experience was on point. This was the food and service I always expect from Five Guys Burgers. Carolyn truly goes out of her way to give the best possible service and professionalism to each of her customers. Today, we were passing through on the freeway and Yelped this place. Sure, Five Guys, we thought. We know this place and love the taste of those fresh burgers. Luckily, the burgers were very good, but the fried were undercooked and for a large size, we got shorted, big time. Here is where things went south. After ordering three different burgers, one of which was a bacon cheeseburger, ended up being served without the bacon. OK, things happen, this was not the deal breaker. The problem was that they have an outdoor seating area with umbrellas and the set up is quite nice. Yet, the speakers that played music were not connected to a PA system that could enlighten those folks who decide to go to the patio about their food being ready. Ten minutes after we ordered our food and went outside, one of us went inside to check on the order. Come to find out that it was sitting at the counter and one of the guys admitted that it was sitting in there. On of the employees was on a break outside and I asked her if it was normal for the food to sit inside while customers are sitting outside, naively expecting that their food will be delivered outside, or, at the very least, they will be altered about the food being ready. She said that sometimes when they get busy, they don't come out and went back to doing what she was doing. Three things: 1) Letting a customers food get cold is a no-no. Something that was established a long time ago for a variety of reasons, the main one being food safety. 2) people come to five guys and pay $10 for a burger because they want the ingredients, experience and SERVICE, that justifies the premium. 3) If you're the manager at this place, you should know that the people by the grill knew the food was sitting there and that it shouldn't have been. I know that because when I walked in to let them know that I paid extra for a bacon cheeseburger and got a cheeseburger, the guy who took the order asked if I wanted a new burger or just some bacon. Obviously, some bacon was completely fine. But hearing him say sorry that the food was delivered late made it clear that they don't understand the difference between sitting and delivered. The point is that it wasn't delivered. It was simply sitting there, while we were waiting for it outside. The outside is part of the restaurant. Hence, it should be treated as the inside of the restaurant. There were no signs telling that there is no service outside. There were only a few tables occupied (i.e. They were not busy at all). There was no PA system to say "order #__; your food is ready." You charge for a premium burger at a premium place. Why not include premium (or common sense) service with it? The service and attention to detail at this location is lousy and the reason it gets three stars is because the food was good. Clearly this is a people problem and nothing good training or better people couldn't fix. read more

3 different attempts at ordering, Same terrible customer service 1. Family of 5 with small children. They took our order. We sat waiting for half an hour. Not very busy. Noticed all the employees huddled in the kitchen-no one cooking/prepping. More people come in. Orders taken. People waiting. Then I hear a customer tell her party that they're leaving because there are no buns left. I asked her what she meant and she told me that she tried to order, but was told that they had no buns. Customer says that they probably meant only from her party on. I realize that they were not calling numbers during the entire 30 minutes our family was waiting. When I went up to the counter to ask, they ignored me. Eventually they called all the numbers at the same time and announced that they were out of buns and that the manager was on the phone trying to find out how to process refunds. Really? They kept taking orders AFTER they knew that they were out of buns and couldn't make any orders? WHY? They offered us a free shake. Sure. I need my kids to eat a damn shake when I'm trying to get them dinner. Waited in line to get our refund processed and we left. Drove by on our way out of the shopping center an hour later- Still open. Why? Would it have been that hard to send someone to Costco or Walmart to get some buns? Or CLOSE the restaurant? 2. Five Guys listed on Door Dash. Ordered food for 6 people. Before I even put my phone down, the order was rejected. No explanation other than they are not taking orders. Seriously? So if we had went into the restaurant and ordered they wouldn't take the order? Doubt it. 3. Tried Door dash service again because my guests insisted. 4 burgers. 1 order of fries. Rejected again. Why even put the restaurant on door dash as available if you're not taking orders? Of course my card has already been changed and we have to wait for a refund before we can order from another restaurant. Never again Five Guys. Your food may be ok, but this location needs to get their act together. Plenty of other places to order from. read more

The burgers were better than McDonalds but not good as Nations. Since they don't have combo meals it can get pretty expensive as you have to order burgers, fries and drinks separate. For a family of 4 we paid about 40 bucks. I like the topping options especially grilled mushrooms. I tried the cajun fries and while they were good it was a little heavy on the spices. The difference in the "little" burgers and regulars are 1 patty or two. For the price not something I would do on a regular basis but a good weekend spot. the location is a bit crowded but I chalk that up to being new to the area read more

I have to agree with some other yelpers... It just wasn't good! Pleasanton & Brentwood are 120% better!!! They taste better , the burgers are juicy & the fries are tasty! The one is Tracy is really lacking. The burger was dry , had no flavor & they were out of bacon. :/ the fries were dissapointing, very bland, oily , had no taste, just taste like grease. I would never go back to the Tracy location, they need some training. If I ever want 5 guys I'll take my happy butt to Pleasanton or Brentwood where there's quality you can taste!!! read more

I had my first Five Guys burger a number of years ago back east and wished they would some day make it to the west coast. Fortunately, my wish came true! Love the hot dogs, but the customer service at this Five Guys is terrible and staff needs to change and/or shape up. This was the second time I ordered one hot dog and it took over 20 minutes to cook with very few customers in the place. The rest of my party waited even longer for three burgers and fries. To add insult to injury, this place is always freezing. Turn down the air conditioner and make it a comfortable temperature for folks to eat without chills. Everyone in my group for the last two visits has been freezing,.. and it's too hot to eat outside. We come to Five Guys because we like the banana shakes and today they were out of banana and strawberry. (Maybe save on the air conditioner and buy supplies.) Adding to the misery, the manager came out to the dining area to clean up. He looked very cranky and started moving chairs and scrapping them on the floor making horrible unnecessary noise. When I ever get a chance to go to the north side of town, the place to go for a great burger is FIVE GUYS :), the cool thing about the place is that the burgers are fresh and they are cooked (to order) your way (and with a great variety of condiments). A word of warning if you are a first timer to Five Guys, if you order fries be sure to bring a friend since they give you a butt load of fries.
