At over twenty bucks for a burger, fries, and a drink, I can't recommend Five Guys to anyone who isn't trying to live a real-life Brewster's Millions (that movie where Richard Pryor played a guy who had to spend 30 million dollars in 30 days in order to inherit 300 million. ...if you do have a few extra million lying around--you should head over to Five Guys and start with the fries. Light crispy and so much salty potato goodness that I will shun you if you drown them in ketchup (a little is okay I guess...) Even at a few bucks more than when I first discovered them, they are a value. Large enough to share. I needed some comfort food - right away. I noticed this on my way to my original destination, and thought "Ooooo! That would scratch my itch" so on the way back home, I stopped in. First off, this is Five Guys - the stores are clean, the walls are adorned with fawning reviews from so many community magazines, that it's amazing the walls don't collapse into a singularity from all the editorial weight. It's white with red - and hard to miss. You walk in, and you can see the peanuts. I took a few, and they were plenty salty and fresh. Then I walked up to the counter, and was promptly greeted. My order was taken, a Cheeseburger, All the Way, with A1 Sauce. Remember (as I failed to) that a Regular Five Guys burger is TWO patties, which were promptly put on the griddle, and the fries, which were waiting, went for a dip in the hot oil. A few minutes later, the burger had been prepped, the burgers came over from the griddle, and I was asked how much A1 I liked - I said Go for it, and she gave it a very nice covering. The fries are LEGENDARY. I ordered the "Little" which is small cup full. And got twice that much. Y U M! Service was fast, the burger and fries were great, the bathrooms were clean, the restaurant was clean (they were cleaning my table as I was walking out). What's not to like? read more

I only give it 3 stars because it's my first time here and I walked up to the door it was locked but instead of the workers coming around they started and laughed at me. Like what is this high school/middle school. Instead of just saying one minute and walking around to unlock doors I had to wait 5 min. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and it smelled horrible it's like they didn't clean the bathroom but hopefully the food I ordered makes up for it. read more

You can always trust Five Guys for a good burger. I have never been disappointed here. Expectations are important though. If you want a top of the line gourmet burger this is not the place. I ordered a cheeseburger and a little Cajun fry. The first thing I noticed is that the quantity of fries I was given was far less than any location I have been to. Also they had very little Cajun seasoning on them. I brought this to the attention of the cook and was given a side of Cajun seasoning. When I returned to my table and started eating it was then that i noticed the fries had been over cooked and were also room temperature. A large quantity of hot, fresh, and seasoned fries is what draws me to five guys. For $6, I don't think that is too much to expect. I've never had five guys before. But when I walked in I was greeted by Evan. His deep dark masculine eyes penetrated mine as he took my order. The Burger is above average but the cost of a burger is really quite high and the staff is not overly friendly usually no eye contact or a smile. Also noticed since they have added the tipping option they certain treat you poorly if you don't tip! I have a son who is a server and he works his tail off to provide a good experience checks on his customers and is back and forth a lot I have a hard time tipping someone one that isn't friendly and handed me a brow bag w a burger read more

I love Five Guys and was glad that one was close by when I moved to Wheaton. The reason why I am only giving them 2 stars is because this is the second time ordering from this Five Guys and they screwed up my order both times. The first time they put cheese on my sons burger and no cheese on my wifes and because each burger was so different it wasnt an easy fix. My son likes it pretty plain and simple while my wife likes the works. Still I could understand how they made the mistake and just brushed it off. Today they messed up my order and forgot to put lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions. How the hell do you forget that much?! Just a greasy burger with mushrooms ketchup and mustard. Not to mention the fries were cold soggy and limp. Very disappointing, not sure I will be back which sucks because Five Guys is one of my all time favorites but only when it's done right and they cant seem to get it right in spite of it all being written down for them. read more

Great burgers! I used to love going down to Naperville and visiting the location there, so I was happy when a Wheaton location opened up. I always go with the cheeseburger (The regular size comes with two beef patties standard) with all the red and black toppings from their menu. The "red" toppings are your standard tomato, onions, lettuce, pickle, etc. The "black" ones are their sauces, mayo, BBQ sauce, A1 steak sauce, etc. So I get this already huge burger with a ton of toppings on it at no extra charge! The cashiers always ask if I'm sure if that's what I want and give an approving nod after. It is indeed a monstrous request, but they do a great job putting it together and it's an awesome blend of flavors! For those who have never been to any Five Guys restaurants before, the price of the fries on the menu may be a shock, but they are worth it. These are not your standard McDonald's-like fries you see at most burger places around here. They're large-cut potatoes and can be ordered to be covered in a cajun spice mix after being fried to add a flavorful kick to them. But plain fries here are still good. The portion sizes of the fries are also massive! The large fries can be a filling meal on its own, so if you're going for burgers with friends, consider sharing or you'll probably have plenty extra if everyone gets their own. If you order the burgers and/or fries, they are cooked really fast. Even on busy days, the wait for food is reasonable. There's a Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain here, so you have a variety of soda drinks to choose from. If you eat in, the staff here don't mind how many refills you get either! The employees here are nice and the place is kept clean unless it occasionally gets really busy. Compared to the Naperville location, this one isn't as busy, not even close. So you don't have to deal with lines that go to the door during lunch times just to fulfill your craving of burger and fries! I like that you pick what goes on your burger from the ground up, so those of us that like 'em plain don't have to fight about it. They give you enough fries to feed a small village, so choose your size accordingly. You just can't be in a huge hurry when you come here because the folks working seem to be in "artisan" mode, so it takes a little longer than a drive-thru. Still, it tastes better! Mistakes happen, it's more important in how you respond to them. This is our go to 5guys location and recently an order wasn't as expected. Manager promised to make it up to us next time around. Couple weeks later we came back, they took note of it which we looked up and they did just that. If I were pressed to choose my favorite burger, it might be Five Guys. My affinity for them began when they were a new thing around the East Coast (starting in DC I think?) A sudden abundance of locations found the appeal wearing thin, perhaps around 2009 or so. I spent some time feeling "over it," but now my love has returned and a sustainable affection will remain, I think. This location is the best I've been to in Chicagoland. Not only is the food spectacularly delicious, but the employees are quite friendly. I appreciate the smiles, eye contact, and occasional admiration of my small children. While the tables could perhaps use more frequent wiping, the facility is pretty clean and the restroom is excellent. The sink, paper towel dispenser, and changing table are above and beyond, especially for a casual burger joint. read more

I enjoy satisfying my craving for a juicy 5 Guys Burger on my low carb diet choice. In the past I've ordered a bun-less cheeseburger on a bed of lettuce, condiments are on the side. Today I ordered a bun-less cheeseburger, and asked for it to be on the bed of lettuce. I was told they can't do that, so I said ok to the new person at the register. Paid for my order and proceeded to let the cook (the person I usually order from who is making the orders) that the receipt indicated 'lettuce wrap' and wanted it over a bed of lettuce. He told me they don't do that and was rather snotty about it. I stepped aside and overheard him tell the order taker say "I told her that...". I get my order which is a hamburger with a lettuce wrap as I expected since I was told they don't put it on a bed of lettuce. Upon receiving my order from a 3rd person I asked if the condiments were separate, she was unsure. At this point, the person who took my order asked if I wanted a bowl....HELLO!! I replied that's what I was asking to order! He offered to remake my order, I had already waited a long time and walked out. Nope, never going to this location again. The one dude on the grill today, who occasionally takes orders should not be in customer service. I stop in here maybe once a month when I'm in the area. This chain has elevated the simple burger and fries to the highest level. Pretty straightforward; burgers, cheeseburgers (and a couple other items), fries, shakes and drinks. All, all of the toppings you could possibly want, in the usual range of burger toppings. These are not gourmet burgers, these are great burgers! A little hiccup at the grill tonight, VERY unusual. Gwen, the manager, got everything back in line and made everything right.
