We were feeling something sweet would close out the meal well and they had chocolate chip cookies, of which they warmed up and were extremely delightful. Five Loves Cafe is one-of-a-kind. It has one of the healthiest but still most flavorful food in town. I don't know how they do it! Every menu item is top-notch in terms of new and interesting flavors. If a place can make me eat goat cheese and like it, then that's huge in my book. I've tasted flounder, chicken and waffles, sandwiches, etc at Five Loaves. I've never left feeling guilty or heavy after eating there. Their menu changes daily which is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because you know they put a lot of thought into their menu and making sure each food item is perfect for that day. A curse because if you really, really liked something you can't go again the next time and know it's going to be there. But let's move on from our first world problems lol you can look at their daily menu items on their website. The service is always great whether we go to the location in downtown Charleston or Summerville. The location downtown has a juice/açaí restaurant attached to it so that's a perk. Upon arrival, it took 5 minutes to be acknowledged at the door, it was not busy at all. Once seated it took another few minutes before I was even spoken to, even though my server worked the table directly across and in back of me. It's seems that you have to request bread, because every table was offered bread except mine. The bread came with the meal with explanation that it was being made. I think communication is very important. None of that I got. Well, the food is excellent as always. But, my server wasn't. First time coming here was today and it def won't be the last! My Mom and I split a full salad and sandwich (plus a cup of soup) and not only was it delicious, but it was also the perfect portion. We got the eggplant fritter salad with white balsamic (def better than regular balsamic imo) and the roast beef sandwich on sourdough. Both were bomb! Idk what the problem was but the one in Mt. Pleasant was pure trash. I love the coconut hot pot but it tasted thrown together and overcrowded the other night (8/1/23) like someone tried to stretch it with water. It was so nasty I couldn't even eat it. My first time having it was a few weeks ago at the one in Summerville and it was literally to die for! I couldn't stop eating it. It was sweet but also savory with a little heat. Outstanding flavors of all dishes that I tried! Happy foodie in this charming cafe. Huge parking space is another great thing. Inside deco is very cute and inviting. Gosh what did they put in the dressing? It was darn great!!! I tried so many different restaurants and ordered same salad over the yrs, then it was one of the memorable flavors! Loved it so much. Cucumber soup was very refreshing and tasty. I normally don't enjoy cold soup, and it was my experimental order. Then it was a great success! It was really refreshing, as I love cucumber generally, and perfect with my portbello sandwich. Then my sandwich came out with white bread although I didn't realize it was regular whites. This spot has some of my favorite things for lunch, including the delicious chicken salad club I had on a croissant. If you order the chicken salad on the croissant, its gonna be much larger, so prepare yourself for a possible to go box! I took my mom out for lunch here and we were able to sit on the front porch under a cool little breeze of their fans. We enjoyed sweet tea and time together. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and the food tasted fresh and made to order. I love this building and all its charm and how unique it is. Besides the bread they have a great variety of homemade healthy options. I had the turkey sandwich with sourdough bread. Great little spot transitioned from an old house. Great decor and friendly service. Looks small but there is still enough room yet it's cozy at the same time. The biscuits and gravy were pretty good, but I actually like McDonalds version better. The shrimp and grits with chorizo sausage was delicious. I could not stop eating from hubby's plate. There's a bar area, lots of wine and mimosas. We always have a good time here. The food is absolutely delicious and the servers are kind. They ran out of home fries and my mom was devastated (so devastated! Haha!) so she got grits instead. I don't know where to start and I usually don't leave bad reviews unless the problem was ignored. I have grown up in Summerville and have a local business myself and I understand short staffed but in this case that was not the issue and In this case it was just ignored. I just could not believe that they had the nerve to serve a sandwich on stale hard bread on a BLT sandwich and a salad with berries that were old. My friend got 2 half sizes sandwiches(roasted beef and grilled chicken) she said the roasted beef was a bit chewy because of the meat. Came for brunch and ordered my kids the waffles. It was $8.50 and came with HALF a waffle. The menu said WAFFLES. I asked the waitress if this was right and she said yes and asked if we wanted another one. I said, not for another $8 and that was that. $17 and my 4&7 year old were both still hungry because the portion was ridiculously small for the price. My husband got the egg skillet and same deal. Sandwiches don't come with sides and the price is way too high for what you get. We're slim people and $60 later and we all left still hungry and annoyed. One of the best croissants I have had! I got the half a chicken salad croissant with the tomato crab bisque, it was all wonderful! The chicken salad was very tasty and the croissant was *chefs kiss*. For both of those and a sweet tea it was about $18 which is a little more than some other deli style places in the area, but it has a full bar also and has a more upscale feel than a deli so I guess I understand.
