It reminded me of covid when restaurants were forced to do outdoor dining only so everyone did little makeshift patios; but nonetheless they have it semi covered and it's decorated beautifully. We came with no reservation on a Saturday and were seated pretty quickly. I had the chicken and waffles with a mimosa flight. The food was delicious! The chicken was tender juicy and seasoned to perfection. The drinks were equally good and came on a cute little flower stand. Nico our server was great! I don't think they accept card tips. Last time my receipt didn't give the option to leave anything, but this time around I had cash and let him have the change. So bring cash if you are feeling generous. read more

Went here during holiday season so this is coming from my drafts but rlly loved this place so felt the need to still share! For drinks, I was gonna get the Ube Coco Daquiri but tell me why whenever I'm excited for a drink, it's the one that they're out of. Soo instead I got the White Xmas which was Bailey's Irish Cream, Licor 43 in a classic Espresso Martini and the Holiday on the Hill Martini which we learned is the same exact thing except they use Ketel One instead of Licor 43. We were hoping it came in the little Christmas tree but we learned that those are if you order a flight soo next time for sure! Other than that the drinks were rlly good, prob one of my fave espresso martinis but probably bc I just love Bailey's. Now for food yes the fries and tacos were amazinggg but the star was this charcuterie board!!! I got lost finding this place. I should've known that it was at the Hilton. Finding the entrance to the Hilton can be challenging. Finding the parking lot is just as challenging. Finally, Five on the Hill is difficult to find from the parking structure. I had to ask the lady at the jewelery store who gave me a blank stare. Thankfully, the valet heard me and pointed outside and to the left. The funny thing is another person asked him where Five on the Hill was. This is a definite problem! The restaurant is small but there was plenty of seating. The decor is phenomenonal. They change out the faux flowers seasonally. This seasons theme is harvest. I came for the view and had a great view of the pool below. One thing that stands out here is the service. We were asked by several staff members if everything was OK. The chef sent a complimentary tasting of the corn bread. It was very good. We got 2 of their happy hour items, mushroom truffle flatbread, and truffle fries. They were both so good! There were plenty of fries to garlic and parmesan ratio. The mushroom flatbread was very filling. We also got the lobster pasta dish. There were thick chunks of lobster! The sauce wasn't a marinara sauce but something similar. It was good. I was very happy with everything I ordered. I'm glad I asked if they validate parking because it's $15 per hour. The restaurant was created in response to COVID and features an outdoor setting, possibly setup in what was the valet parking in front of the hotel. It's designed to be visually stunning--definitely Instagram-worthy. The food was delicious and everything we tried exceeded expectations. We ordered: - **Brussels Sprouts** - **Good Ol' Bread** - **Wagyu Burger** - **Sea Bass** Our server, Rhea, provided excellent service. The Complaint: There is a mandatory 15% Facility Charge that is not disclosed anywhere upfront--not on the menu, not at the hostess stand, and not within the restaurant itself. Instead, a notice appears on the bill stating: "FIVE on the Hill is a no-tipping establishment. We pay fair wages and benefits to our staff. A mandatory 15% facility fee is added to your bill. This fee is not gratuity, is subject to applicable taxes in accordance with state law, and is used to fund administrative costs to sustain the operations of our business." While supporting fair wages is commendable, a customers should be informed of this charge before ordering. In my case, the fee amounted to $52, and the lack of transparency was frustrating. The Supervisor, Britney, was accommodating stated that she could not waive the fee but adjusted our bill. read more

My friends eggs were uncooked. The drinks were fine but very expensive and my friend got the bottomless that didn't get refilled often enough. Service = 1 star. We had reservations and it took an hour for us to be seated. It took 30 minutes for us to get our food order and my friends bottomless was refilled twice in 2 hours. The restaurant is technically a Parklet in a parking lot while all drinks and food is run out from the inside of the hotel. Probably why everything was so slow. Last Sunday, me and my friend came for brunch. I made reservations for 11:30. When we got there there were only a few tables taken so if we wanted to walk in, I'm sure it would not have been a problem. There restaurant is attached to the Universal Hilton, pretty much when you pull up to the valet area. I don't think there's any self parking. It's a charming spot with a great view of the city. I ordered chicken and waffles. Our waitress told me they changed the recipe for the chicken and waffles and it's much better than before. It was good but not amazing. I didn't realize the chicken was Nashville style. My friend ordered the lobster chilaquiles. She said it was good too but the lobster was a bit rubbery. I ordered the margarita tower and another margarita that was not part of the tower,,, I believe it was prickly pear. They were tasty but a little too sweet for my liking. Like I mentioned before, it's attached to the hotel so if you have to use the restroom, you'll have to go through the hotel lobby. I'm glad I finally got a chance to check this place out for brunch. Since it's located "on the hill" (lol), you have a great view of Studio City and it really captures the essence of dining outside. This is a no tipping establishment and they automatically charge a 15% facility fee. However, I wasn't aware of this until I left and had already added a 20% tip to my credit card. If this is a no tipping establishment, why is there a line to add gratuity on the credit card receipt and/or why aren't they advising customers that it is a no-tipping establishment when paying by credit card? Who does the gratuity go to ultimately? I wanted answers to these questions, but there is no way to call the restaurant directly, so I left a voicemail for Matt Anderson, Director of Food and Beverage at the Hilton Universal. I never received a call back. Lovely. If you dine here and choose to leave a tip, my advice is to do it in cash and hand it straight to the server so this greedy hotel doesn't pocket it on top of the 15% facility fee they have already charged you. read more

The reason for 2 stars was the very slow service and subpar food. We ordered the LA burrito, BBL pancakes and truffle garlic fries. My friend took two bites of the burrito and couldn't take any more because it was way too salty. The BBL pancakes were good but not amazing; probably not worth $25. Both the Hibiscus Flare and Blueberry Lavender Sparkling Spritzer were fruity and refreshing. Not very strong in alcohol though. Although it may be cold for outdoor dining at night, there are heaters all around. Tony was our server and he was amazing! He had a friendly personality and gave us some great recommendations. To start off, we got their shrimp cocktail and 1/2 order of the westcoast sea-cuterie board. This colorful platter includes tuna, hamachi, salmon, scallop, anchovies, caviar, and crackers. Great for sharing and for those who like seafood! For veggies, get their brussels sprouts. It's crispy and well seasoned. For entrees, we went with the rib eye steak (huge, tender, and juicy) and the Mediterranean sea bass (not dry and citrusy). Both were amazing! For drinks, we got their popular margarita flight and the como la flor. Both were so pretty! We ended our meal with a hazelnut chocolate pie and key lime pie. My favorite was the key lime pie. We celebrated a birthday here recently and if you are looking for a restaurant with a vibe then look no further. Our server was super sweet and patient and we felt really welcomed. The food prices are on par with what it costs to eat out in Los Angeles where a salad is $24 and pasta $30. They have great prices on their champagne and margarita flights for around $22 per flight. Everyone was very happy with their food selection and the chocolate mousse dessert was a hit. They have live music in the patio in the early evenings and parking is valet for $12. read more
