    New chimney box insert
    Wayne C.

We hired Kenny of Five Star Chimney to clean the chimney for our rental home in Federal Way. We were very happy with his rates, responsiveness, and his attention to detail. He noticed a crack in the concrete box for our pre-fabricated chimney box. We hired him to fix that as well. In any event, the work turned out excellent. Kenny understands how long his projects take and he got it done in precisely the two hours that he projected. Kenny is truly a nice guy and a fair businessman. We have added him to our contact list and intend to have him clean our chimneys every year or two. If you need your chimney cleaned or, heaven forbid, fixed, then I highly recommend that you contact Five Star Chimney.

Doesn't get any steeper than this!

I had a 115 year old chimney up on a very steep two story roof. I couldn't even get a company to bid it! Kenny completed the project safely and in great time. It looks and functions beautifully now. Five Stars from me. Thanks Kenny! Here's a couple before shots. The finished product is on his FB page

I haven't used this company. I accidentally wrote a review that I had meant for another company. I am unable to delete it.

Kenny was thorough in his investigation and we concluded that one of the chimneys has an internal leak.

Trust is 100% restored knowing that if problems come up they will take any action needed to follow up. I will also say that the work they originally did was actually to code, and we agreed that the moisture problems arose due to the nonstandard setup of my dehumidifier, NOT because of errors in Terra Firma's work. Thank you Terra Firma.*** Unfortunately, I have to drop a negative review in the interest of warning other folks that their work has gone downhill. I previously had an excellent experience with Terra Firma for management of a water problem in my crawlspace. I hired them without question again for my current property for management of moisture issues, and I didn't check their work upon completion as thoroughly as I should have. Unfortunately, about 1 - 2 months after completion of work, I discovered a large mushroom growing out of one of the structural posts in my crawl/basement. On closer inspection, I noticed that the dehumidifier water discharge line they installed was dumping less than a foot away from my foundation, corresponding to the exact spot the mushroom was growing. Moisture was the exact problem they were supposed to fix, but now they have created a severe structural problem secondary to moisture with the dehumidifier line dumping large quantities of water right next to my foundation. In other words, they created the exact issue they were purporting to fix by collecting the moisture and depositing it into my foundation. Once fruiting bodies are growing out of wood, this is an indicator that the wood is severely compromised and the fungus network has grown extensively. I now have a very expensive and serious problem to fix. I called to let them know about the problem, not sure if I will hear back from the coordinator/ the team who did the work. I am not sure if I would trust them to fix the issue after the damage they have caused, but I would accept financial remediation. If they take steps to make things right, I would update my review. I would not hire Terra Firma again for any crawlspace work, be it structural or moisture related because of the big problem they have caused. Again, just would like to warn others.

He wasted time by having me watch a video of their process, and attempted to get me to agree to a proposal the day of - estimates running in the $15k-$50k ranges. Their estimates came in higher than their competitors by about $5k including Groundworks. When I informed him that I would not be using their services, he replied with, "What are your plans for your sagging floors? How do you plan to address this?" I have met with many contractors on this same issue, and no one else aside from Groundworks and TerraFirma has attempted to blow our issues out of proportion. However, Noah did offer to do a side by side comparison of the other offers with his, which I did not take. I ungraciously assumed it wouldn't have been attempt to price match, but to take another opportunity to push me more on his proposals. Don't use them, if you want to avoid fear mongering and overpriced services.
