Not great. Just average Mexican food. The corn tortilla soup was "ok" but pretty tasteless. Service blah. Our table was only the second table occupied and had to finally wave someone down to even order a drink. Soup was not served first, as requested, so had to send back the main entree so it wasn't sitting there getting cold while having soup. Then brought out again before the person even finished their soup. Server not attentive at all. Salsa with the chips was watery. Won't go back again. If you want better Mexican food, go to Taco's and Tequila's in Naples. Excellent service there. And better tasting food!! read more

Upon arrival, we were greeted almost immediately with chips and salsa. The service is prompt, not chatty, and anything you need you can get within 30 seconds. The food is also pretty good. I had a #6 combo which included a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and beef tostada. read more

6-29 visit to FLACOS overwhelmed us with Food quality and Service. We visited FLACOS for probably the 4th time in the past year. So friendly. A team approach to service greets you as soon as you are seated. I mean within a couple of minutes. Water, chips, salsa. Very spacious, high ceilings, plenty of seating, inside and out. Go between 4 - 7 pm, M-F, and margaritas and wine are "Happy Hour" prices. Food portions are very generous, piping hot with "from scratch" flavor. We decided to finish up with a home made desert. As soon as we ordered it, they were there to completely wipe down our table, re-set with fresh napkins and silverware. (I though I was at a high end 5th Ave. establishment ) The service was at that level. Don't overlook FLACOS if you love the flavor of Mexican food, and appreciate excellent service. read more

If you have an hour to wait for your food, only to have it come out and be the wrong order, try this place out. Just kidding, don't do it. I ended up waiting over an hour for a steak stir fry and when it finally came out, it was chicken. They said they could remake the dish but no thanks, I didn't feel like waiting another hour. I needed to be fed. The couple sitting next to me were very nice and said they felt terrible they got their food before I did. A friend of mine recommended this place for the guacamole. So we decided to stop and give it a try. But we didn't order the guac. and stuck with standard chips and salsa. We decided to give the banana and peach margaritas a try. Yummy! Had a hunkering for some chile rellenos so I ordered the combo with a taco and enchilada. ok, I am officially done with this place. Since the relocation of their establishment, it has seemed to go downhill in a big way. What was once a staple and regular place for me to dine for 10 years will no longer see me again. Last night was disgusting, the customers are all tourists now in a cantina type setting versus the old restaurant feel. The food? Well, after waiting over an HOUR, the wrong dishes were brought. They said they could remake them but I did not have an additional hour to wait. In speaking with the couple next to me who were also frequent visitors, they did not care for the place either and are not returning. I am not stuck on the past however, this place has lost it's charm, efficiency, service and food. I do not recommend this place and I will not go back. read more

I've been here a couple of times now, and while the food is pretty good, the service is lacking.Tonight I got the chicken tacos, and they let you sub out refried beans for green beans (+ $1) which I really appreciate since I'm not the biggest fan of refried beans. My two chicken tacos with rice and green beans was $12. I would consider that highway robbery in Denver, but maybe that's how they do things here in Naples. We had at least 6 different waiters/waitresses/food runners at our table. Not once did they set the correct thing in front of the correct person. Maybe if they only had one server per table it wouldn't be such an issue. It won't stop me from visiting in the future, but don't come here and expect consistant service. read more

I have been here a few times in the past and the food and the service was always good. They now deserve an upgrade to my past opinions. The food is fantastic. During the COVID-19 this place has been a lifesaver. Most of the Mexican restaurants were closed. This is my comfort food and we all needed a little extra of that to get us through. I'm happy to finally write a review. The carry out food is hot and the portions have always been generous. What sets this restaurant apart from other Mexican food restaurants is the quality of the ingredients. The food tastes fresh and the quality of the ingredients surpasses other Mexican food restaurants that I usually frequent due to location. The sauces are a tell tale sign that this is authentic food and there is quite an assortment of different degrees of heat and flavors. The steak and chicken is undeniably higher quality meat products. Even the cheese seems like a better quality. I don't think you will find any of that liquid cheese product here. All fresh. Presentation of the dinners even looks more appealing than other take out Mexican food. Almost forgot, the beans! So flavorful and again, better ingredients were used. I have to say that this restaurant is now my go-to for Mexican and I'm finished with the others. The staff has always been very accommodating and pleasant. So glad they were open during this pandemic for take out. I've read some of the poor reviews and they must have made changes since last year and to those people I recommend they give Flaco's another try. read more

This place has a great decor, but we sat outside on a medium cool evening, and found out they don't have heaters outside, so we were chilly. The food was plentiful. Wife had chicken fajitas and took some home. I had a burrito/taco combo. The meat was plentiful but was very bland for Mexican food. The burrito was on the small side, too. However, it was an enjoyable meal. Prices are reasonable for Naples restaurants. Might go back. Mr. Tequila food is tastier. Too bad they don't have outside seating. read more

We were there on Jan 21,2023 for dinner. . We are a family of vegetarians. The ambience and service were very good. If you can introduce Bean burrito entrée with lettuce, tomato, guacamole and sour cream, it would be wonderful. I was disappointed you didn't have it on the menu. The extra guacamole I ordered was so little for $3.95 ...!!!! Also , they not only give very little salsa and charge for any extra ..!!! Terrible service. Ordered takeout with four entrees for lunch. Paid and said "oh, you forgot to put chips in the bag." I was told chips are $4 because they are "homemade." However if you eat there, you get a basket of chips included. The takeout food is not cheaper than if you eat in the restaurant. I left a tip for the server which I regretted after he was condescending and not accommodating. I understand that it costs money to run a restaurant, but chips are customary with Mexican food, and a basket is complimentary to dine in guests, so it is cheap and insulting to make takeout customers pay. We are regulars here to this relatively new location and will keep returning. First the good - the chips (a mix of corn and blue corn chips) and salsa (free for the first portion served) are yummy. Sometimes the salsa is watered down more than others, but mostly consistent - with a good spiciness to it. We usually get our favorites, which are the Chicken Mole and an assortment of tacos and enchiladas. You get the entree with beans and rice and lettuce/tomato. I love their Chicken Mole. I only give 3 stars because everything else I have tried (Taco Salad, enchiladas) has just been ok. We only really come when we are in the mood for mole, lol. Also this place is really loud. It is hard to have meaningful conversation here because you have to practically yell at each other. The restaurant look and ambience is very cool and nice. The server Eduardo is awesome know the menu very well and gave me great suggestions. The down side is that there is now flexibility in the menu. For example I'm in the Keto diet and the don't sub your chips for veggies and if they do is a extra charge. So if you have dietary needs this isn't the place for you. I order the queso dip and it comes with chips but I couldn't eat the chips so I ate just the cheese. For the entree I order the carne asada which It would be more nice if they add some caramelized onions and my boyfriend order the ribeye which the steak was juicy, good, flavor was good. The owner needs to be more flexible with menu and have more options for veggies beside green beans. The kids menu the price is over price and the menu isn't price correctly. read more

Completely disgusting! My hubby ordered Mexican for Mother's Day and picked it up within the 15 min. The cold food wasn't the issue, the lack of actual cooking was. The food was absolutely from a can, dumped in a styrofoam , and had no semblance of actually being any where near fresh. Even the nachos were old and cold. Went here with my family and it was just bad. They only give one serving of chips and salsa before they make you start paying for it which is just stingy. The service was good and there is a decent amount of outdoor seating and nice interior. The food was just really Americanized and lacked flavor. Best Mexican Food, ever. They are in a new location, but thankfully, the food nor the service has changed. The chimichanga are the best! Steak or Chicken, you cannot go wrong with either choice. La Tampiquena is also a must try at this spot. Flavorful, and plentiful! Most meals comes with refried beans, guac, sour cream, yellow rice, pico de gallo, and don't forget the chips and salsa that are already on the tables. The price is relatively cheap based on all the food your meal comes with. You are bound to leave happy. It's a win-win! This is a real review of Flaco's from someone that truly believes in social media's possibilities as a helpful tool, especially yelp! The star-rating inflation problem, driven by businesses more interested in improving their ratings than improving their service/products is a real problem. Flaco's is a good example. Much has been published about the unreliability of social media. Restauranteurs can buy 4 and 5 star reviews for a fraction of the price of a beer. It's become very difficult to determine which reviews are "real" and which are bought. Some give up on yelp. I don't and have not. First, the more positive: Flaco's owner reads these reviews. He makes some effort to listen to his patrons and "sharpen the blade" - a bit. People complained about too few chips and $1.50 for seconds. He responded. Our party of four was greeted with two large baskets and his watery mediocre salsa. No upcharge. Now it's time to take the bull by the horns, Mr. Flaco, and make some major changes in the kitchen. I mean major. We went as a party of four, on a Saturday night, prime time in Naples. It should have been a tip off that there was no wait! Plenty of tables. More filled in later, a drinking crowd. Too often Mexican restaurants fall into one of two categories: (1) Places that take their cuisine seriously, and try to buy and prepare food with pride and care, putting the food first, (2) vibey drinking bars pushing Jimmy Buffet's brew and "cold ones", and using over-salted anything-goes over-sized platos as a vehicle to wash down the suds and Cuervo tequila with! Unfortunately, Flaco's falls into the latter group. Problem is, that in Naples' over-priced restaurant market, you're not selling $12 dishes any more. Most are well north of $20. That creates an expectation that you'll get something at least as good as Chilli's if not Chipotle. But other than the girth of the portion (enough to please the most intoxicated day laborer) you'll be sorely disappointed. I must join in many honest reviewers herein. The food is generally over-salted. Perhaps much worse, the ethnic signature dishes (items off the Mexican combo platter menu) are made far in advance, carelessly assembled, and, in our case, barely heated (or left to languish by disorganized front end barely trained staff!). The chix enchilada was lesser of the evils (we ordered two, including one with completely uninspired Suiza, Spanish for "Swiss," sauce.) The beef taco was overcooked sit-around ground hamburger in a tasteless grocery story quality hard taco shell, and little of interest therein. The worst was the tragic Chile Relleno, the calling card of any good Mexican eatery. (These often delectable entrees are fresh large mild green chili peppers stuffed with good Mexican asadero or asiago cheese, dipped in a special batter, and deep friend in a light oil like Canola.) When restaurants cut corners, they use cheep over-salted lifeless cheeses, unfresh peppers, and over-used frying oils that they never change! And then kill it off completely by smothering it in tasteless flour based or tomato sauces. Flacos gets it wrong on all counts, and then jams the plate with lard-refried beans and pretty tasteless barely seasoned soggy rice. We ordered a rib-eye steak platter. The baked seemed almost steamed not baked. The "rib-eye" was at least 12 oz as advertised. It must have been pounded to death, because the meat was fairly tasteless and 1/2" thin. They say to make a great steak, you buy a great piece of meat and don't ruin (overcook etc.) it. What went wrong? Hint: to their credit they didn't overcook it. The mixed shrimp/beef Fajitas was terrible. Even the peppers and onions tasted flat, over oily (not with good tasting oil!), and the steak meat was dry, overcooked, and well, not cooked to order. The 4 -5 little token small previously frozen shrimp (some of us know the difference between 12-16's and 41-50's) were too few and not great. The sizzling platter was all show. How do you manage to serve a sizzling platter with barely hot food therein? I'll let you imagine that, and answer the question at home yourself. No, Flaco's has some real soul searching to do. More than just piling on so-so not so homemade tasting chips and watery old salsa to wash down with your Corona beers. Take some advice: If you chose to dine at Flacos, start drinking early, and get there very hungry and with a nice buzz going. It might dull the senses enough so that when you continue drinking to excess, you won't notice how bad the food is. Honestly? After all these years? You'd think they'd care enough to buy fresh better quality food, and care about what they serve. Maybe find a fussy family member to taste it, and be honest with them. I think they really do want do try. They are just riding on their mediocre reputation for very large plates, and untrained wait staff that knows how to push drinks. read more

We live behind Flaco's in Pelican Marsh so it's an easy walk or quick drive for us. We really enjoy the food as we order the same two dishes every time (Steak Tacos & Carne Asada) as they've been delicious and consistent. The drink and wine list is great, appetizers and dinners large portions. We eat there off season when the service is impeccable, we don't eat out often during season so I can't comment further. The only reason I took off one star is that they don't take American Express and while I understand the reason due to the high fees, it's usually the only card we carry so we'd prefer if they would. read more

We have been dining here (at the old location) for 20+ years. We went here on our first date. We are both in the hospitality business, totally confident to recommend this establishment. Not anymore. The change at front of house was not a positive. Today there was a dispute between the staff at the bar about our half pitcher of margaritas. The service was slow. We never had a food check back. Not the first bad ex, last bad experience my husband called the owner after all we have a long history of great food and service. Today after a sub par meal, an apple credit card machine comes to the table while the server stands there and you put in the gratuity, Are you kidding me. Of course you got 18% which is a very low tip from us, but more then they deserved today. read more

Flaco's is great for folks who want to get away from the normal hum-drum mexican food you find in sooooooo many restaurants. There is a great variety of steak, chicken, seafood and vegetarian options. It's not the typical "dinner number 6" type of menu, either. We split some awesome chicken faijitas, and I got a burrito on the side to go with. The margaritas were very tasty (should have mentioned that first, I guess). The salsa they serve with chips to start is nice and spicy, as it should be. All in all, a very pleasant dining experience that was just a touch expensive (a little over $50). Plenty of parking, too, because it's in a little strip mall, pushed way in the back. Worth searching for.... read more

Flaco's is definitely a toss-up for me between a 3 and a 4 and maybe I'm experiencing a little dose of the ol' schizophrenia. I used to frequent this place on those days you wanted to indulge in something that is comfort foodesque and when it's one of those no-guilt Mondays where you just need to cope and don't care whether or not it is pseudo-authentic or breaks your knowledge of what is authentic. This place, although in a busy location is a perfect place to go in season. It shares other businesses in the same parking lot, but it's not attached to an astronomical amount of retail or restaurant traffic. So in short, you can find parking, but it's tricky to get out onto US41 if you need to backtrack and cross three lanes. It's situated across from a Greek restaurant, so they don't have quite the same competition. One night, a friend had a total hankering for Mexican, and that night I "artfully" chose a combination plate. Heh...that's only because it was on my radar of expectations for that night. Tostada? Check. Burrito? Check. Enchilada? Check. Can you believe it was served with beans and rice too? They somehow jampacked it all onto one small platter. Not sure if it was a good thing to have everything running into each other, but I'm not one of those OCD people that can't have something touching the other on their plate. I wish I had a little more room for my tostada, so half of the bottom wasn't soggy. All in all, each component had familiar flavors which was what I expected, but it didn't wow me. I know that they do have good daily lunch specials for lunch that's off the beaten path, and that's where I have been impressed before, but I'm surprised they didn't offer specials for dinner. The ambiance is a little disjointed. Maybe the glued carpet is a turnoff, but what is good about this place is that it's spacious. I see many large groups of people come in for lunch. Good place for getting your food and going avec co-workers. As I finish up my review, I feel that a 3-star A-OK is fitting. Nothing took me by surprise and I had "meh" type of dinner that night. Wow. I really wanted to like this place, but they've forgotten how to do this in a few months they've been closed. Food is bland, the margaritas are HORRIBLE (2-4-1 isn't even worth it) and service is slow. This is a true disappointment from the previous location. Sent the "house" margaritas that tasted like sour mix back and got the margaritas with the fresh squeezed lime. All in my party switched to beer after the first round. The food was bland. The noise was atrocious. This is a sad state of affairs. We'll never be back. So many better restaurants in Naples. read more

I didn't care much for this place. My blackened 'grouper' tasted and looked like tilapia and appeared to be undercooked however my friend's steak was very tender and tasted great.
